Product Review for Elderton Homes – The process of building is usually a long process, however, with Elderton Homes, we were able to smoothly build a house under the supervision of skilled employees. The final product was absolutely amazing. The customer service at Elderton Homes was immaculate as every step of the way, they always kept us updated to ensure we were always happy.… Read more

Even after the job was done, they constantly made sure that we were happy with the product. With instant replies to emails and enquiries, we were shocked at how their employees were so flexible and caring about their customer's requests. We were amazed by both the customer service and the final product we received from Elderton Homes and we highly recommend them.

Horrible post construction service!! – Everything was fine before we pay off and handover. But it has been totally different right after. I’ve been through a terrible customer service with post construction service. Strongly suggest that everyone DO NOT pay them all until everything even small defects fixed!! been waiting for months but haven’t got defects fixed. And their account manager or whatever was so so rude said that some guys who have been waiting more than you are more patient and if you are not happy you can go to your lawyer! So so rude I can’t believe what she said. Even we called our site manager who should come back to have the inspection said he was never told about it. They don’t care about their customers after they receive money! I won’t recommend Elderton Homes to everyone at all!!

Building Our Dream Home – We had the pleasure of building our dream home with Elderton Homes. We were taken care of from the very beginning of the process to finding the floor plan we were looking and making it work within our budget. Elderton Homes was transparent about everything within our contract throughout the entire build. We also got to decide from a vast asrray… Read more

of options and adjust our contract accordingly, to deal with what was going to work for us. It was amazing to slowly watch our home being built from the ground, up- And exciting to see the progress being done week by week.

Despite the COVID related delays for the builders; Due to shortages of materials, weather and circumstances- Our dream home was completed around the same time of the quoted estimation. Even though there were a few things that had been forgotten before the final hand over, Elderton Homes were efficient at rectifying any problem before the date we officially moved in.

We have now been living in our new house for a few months now and have been loving the feeling of making our new house into the home we’ve always dreamed of.

Love the house but despise the company – When we looked at the display home at Mulgoa Rise, the salesman pointed out the many features that were optional extras. The high ceilings, skylights in the kitchen, pillar-less alfresco area, etc. We took all those options but no mention was ever made of the garage being larger than standard. We paid a deposit and began the process. After many… Read more

emails were exchanged between us and head office, it came time to visit and upon our arrival, we were told that because we’d taken many weeks to respond to all their emails, so much time had passed that the house had gone up in price by $10,000. We suggested they check the dates of said emails and they then admitted it was they who’d taken many weeks to respond to our emails and graciously waived the $10,000. How nice of them. Even Sheldon Cooper would get that sarcasm.

Our block is one acre and not connected to the sewer so a septic tank had to be sourced and installed. Elderton searched for someone to do this and after two months, told us they could find no one. I looked in the Newcastle phone book, found Civcon in less than five minutes, and had them contact Elderton with an hour. Another two months delay. We sucked it up. At least they didn’t ask us for $10,000.

Given the 20m distance from the house to the tank, Civcon asked Elderton to sink the waste pipe only to a certain depth but they sank it much deeper than that, so Civcon had to modify the piping into the tank at a cost to us of $500.

Some time after colours, tiles, etc. were chosen, Elderton called to say that the flooring we’d chosen was no longer available and asked us to choose another. Perhaps if they’d not delayed the process by several months (and tried to extract a further $10,000 from us for doing so), that wouldn’t have happened. The flooring we have is nice, but it wasn’t our first choice.

Finally, building commenced. On one of our monthly visits, we saw that the brickwork had gone up but noticed the garage was around 1 meter narrower to the left of the door than on the display home. We called about this and was told that that house had a wider garage as an optional extra. While we were talking to the salesman, we even asked what it would cost to have a triple garage. He gave us a price but we decided not to pursue that but at no time did he say “Well if you don’t want a whole extra car space, for X amount you can have a garage like this one, just a meter wider”. So, whilst we don’t need an extra car space, an extra meter for cupboards and such would’ve been nice but it’s too late for that now. We got what we paid for but that was less than we thought we were getting.

The outdoor entertainment area was always going to extend to the edge of the garage so it’s also a meter narrower than we thought it would be.

The completion date of the 13th of June came and the house was nowhere near finished. Now Elderton must pay us $50 per week, minus rain days. By the time the house was handed over and deducting the Christmas break, that left 7 weeks, amounting to $350. When we applied for that, we were told that it’d rained on every one of those days. By this stage, we were living in the area and had never seen rain so we disputed that and asked where they got their information from. They said from the weather station at Williamtown Airport, 10 kms away, not from workers who’d arrived at the block. We told the neighbours about this and all of them said it’d rained about 4 or 5 days during construction, NOT 49 DAYS. Even if it had rained on all those days, we asked if workers were actually booked to be there or in other words, it may have been raining but did that actually slow the process down? They said they didn’t know but a rain day is a rain day whether or not work was scheduled for that day. One neighbour told us that the brick wall on his side was actually put up while it was raining, so there’s a genuine rain day during which work carried on as normal. Seven weeks delay with no compensation based on false information, if not outright lies.

We asked them to leave the pile of dirt from excavation in the front yard as we intended using it for landscaping. A week later, it was gone so we’ve since had many tonnes of dirt delivered at our expense.

On handover day, the 13th of September, the remaining workers left the house with the alarm only half installed and none of it actually connected but with meters of wiring hanging out of walls in several locations, the sensor light at the front door not wired, the exterior light at the laundry not fitted at all, only half of the air conditioner’s zones ducted, power points not working, the front door not able to close, patches of paintwork not done and paint spilled on timber flooring, cracked tiles in the bathroom, and garage door dented. The only reason for this that we can think of is that they’d run out of rain days and rather than pay compensation for being late, they’d give the customer a house which is not yet complete and if there’s another reason, we’d love to hear it. Last but not least, the range hood which we asked be ducted through the roof was not ducted at all, just blowing into the ceiling space, which an electrician we'd hired to connect Foxtel and run cabling found, some 10 months after handover.

It turns out that Elderton will only duct a range hood out through a wall and rather than do what we asked, they simply didn't do anything but at no time did anyone say that Elderton will not duct a range hood through the roof. We can’t imagine why Elderton has such an aversion to this but the fact that they finally gave us the option of having it done by someone else says that it can certainly be done and that we’re not asking for the impossible. The flue from the wood-burning heater we’ve recently had installed and the vent pipe from the sewer that Elderton installed go through the roof, so why not a duct from a range hood?

Long story short, even though they tried to swindle us out of an extra $10,000, the garage is a meter narrower than we thought it would be and thus our outdoor entertaining area is the same, building commenced months late and went on for three months too long for which they refused to pay compensation of a lousy $50 per week, was clearly not finished at handover, and it took 11 months to get the last of the faults rectified and then by someone else, we love the house but we absolutely despise the company and WOULD NEVER BUILD WITH THEM AGAIN.

First pic is display home at Mulgoa Rise. Notice width of brickwork to left of garage door. Second pic is our house. Notice width of brickwork to left of garage door. Third pic is site manager happily handing us keys to an unfinished house.

Great experience, beautiful home!! – From the start of our build process to the very end it has been a great experience. Sending through fortnightly updates and pictures of the stage we were up to and what work was scheduled for the next 2 weeks. Ryan our construction supervisor answered any questions we had. Organised walk thrus when requested kept us up to date with what was happening also. Our build was not scheduled to be completed till march but we were very lucky and we are now in our home for christmas. Ryan worked hard to have this all organised and done for us going above and beyond. I cannot thank the team enough for all the work they have done and delivering us our dream home

day per week and most of the weeks nothing being done. For us, Build was completely flat for 5 weeks with no work done and they will always try to claim its delayed due to rains and add the additional 3weeks to contract even though no work delay due to rains. [Name Removed] our client relationship manager sitting in office has no clue and not ready to give any update and they are very rude at us when we call them for any update or information. Built takes close to 12 months and till the last date they are not in a position to reveal the handover date. We will need to wait hopelessly till they confirm the house handover date as they don't stick to the date given as per contract. As per contract its 36weeks however they add 6 more week for rains and then its up to them they claim that trades unavailable and things not going better to extend further by weeks or months. It's been 10 months they have started and till now they are not in a position to confirm completion date and still major work pending. Keep on postpone things and its a never ending story. We should have been go with alternate builder and never suggest to go with them.

Very Disappointed ☹️ Save yourself a lot of stress – There are lots of delays in every step, pre construction and even with the construction. They keep blaming it on the suppliers. They are unorganized in ordering the material on time. When we were comparing all the building companies and analysing all the reviews on product reviews that they are very fast and a good company, they were only a few… Read more

reviews with delays we didn’t take it as serious because the good reviews are more and more recent, now we regretted.

At the beginning they kept telling us only the pre construction takes a long time with them because they want to make sure everything is done properly, when construction started, the delays didn’t stop. We signed the contracts and updated maps since the beginning of August 2020 and they didn’t allow us to have our colors selection appointment until mid of November, we tried our best and took 2 days off work and finished all the color selections and all the other appointments. From November they were working on the final plans, council approval, and all the other small pre construction steps till May (so in total pre construction took 9 months, which was very disappointing for us, but we still kept calming ourselves down and hoping for the best, which we thought it would come with construction.

They finally moved on June 2021 and laid the slab, they stopped because COVID for 2 month and then there was delays with the frame suppliers( keep in your mind they had all our paperwork and we already signed and finalized everything with them since last year August, and they knew from last year about the shortage on the frame supplies but they didn’t organised themselves or pre order anything or care about there clients who are going through lots of stress because of delays or try and process improve anything, my husband tried to be nice with them and kept requesting them to try understand our situation, as we are paying rent and a mortgage they apologise and promise they will start moving faster, but so far nothing has changed.

After the slab, and the frame delays we finally got the frame delivered on 22 of August and only half of it, then they didn’t start working on it till 03 of September ( we got very excited that they finally started working on our site, but it didn’t last long as we got emails from them telling us that the steel support has been delayed and now we are waiting for them to just finish the frame than delays with windows as I was told the supplier delivery trailer broke down but don’t worry because it’s raining and we can’t work anyway than the brick delayed due to scaffolding not delivered on time. So far not a single stage is completed on time but they don’t stop adding days on the contract for suppliers delays or weather to make sure they don’t pay the rent as required by the contract.

If you researching and looking to build with Elderton, please take my advice and from our experience and don’t waste your time and your money because you will be so disappointed . They transferred our excitement of our first home building to disappointment and an awful experience, if I can go back in time I will never let my husband choose Elderton homes to build our dream house. If your really serious about your house please think again as the money saved with them will cost you in time and stress.

Now even the fortnightly update is getting delayed

Pre and post construction – I will cover the cons and pros for the company so far given my experience and will update the post as the construction progresses when we finally get to it. wanted. He was flexible, knowledgeable and told it how it is which what I also liked about [Name Removed] from the Warnervale office who took over after he left. She is an asset to the company and is a wealth of knowledge. What made me sign at the end was the over all value for money with the company with the promotion that was running at the time, the open plan designs and small up front deposit to get things going.

Cons: Tender came back 15k over estimate mainly due to site cost witch I just have to give them the benefit of the doubt since I am not a builder or have access to any of the reports for the land. Moving past that to head office that’s when things start to lag and slow down given the dragged out process they have in place, no matter how fast you are going or planning. To start with they don’t allow you to book any of the external appointments until your color appointment is done which was frustrating given most of them are on the weekdays and juggling appointment times with work can be a stressful task, which had no pint except delay things getting sorted. I managed to fit most of them right after the color appointment by luck and taking a few days of work. After color appointment I was advised that they will have everything put together in a week or two. A week later I managed to have finalised everything from my end with the external appointments and waiting on the color selection to come back since it was now due. I was than told that they will require a further 7 to 10 days to come back and gave me a drawn out time line of another 4 weeks to finalise plans which have not changed by the way than Christmas shut down than weeks and weeks of checks and re checks by different teams taking me to an estimated time to start building next year in may. Mind you I paid my deposit in august, which makes it about 9 month until they even start construction.

I was really happy with the company until now given whatever money I saved I will be paying in interest and rent until I move in my house some 18 month later. I hope the build quality will be worth the wait and the money at the end. If I was aware of the process I would have not signed the contracts. It has now been 3 weeks after they have come back from the Christmas break and no further updates or progress. I will keep updating the post as I go for better or worth.

Construction has finally started with delays in every stage so far.

Latest update: it is now 5 month over the 40 weeks completion time and 1 month over the delayed handover date. They seem to be running very low on trades, most builders are but not to this extent, on average they might get one trade in a week and good luck if there is one or two days rain just add one week for every day of rain lol. My advise is find a different builder and save yourself a lot of stress it’s definitely not worth it.

Great home builder with great service – We are first time home builders and went with Elderton Homes after viewing a display village and discussing our needs with their sales team. We found a design that met all our needs and at the right price. Communication throughout the build has been great from the design phase through to handing the keys over. The building quality was to a good… Read more

standard with any issues being quickly felt with.

Overall we have been very happy with our builder and would recommend them to anyone considering building.

Excellent Customer Service and Building experience – We had a square sized lot and was difficult to find a suitable home from most other builders who had mostly pre-set house plans and were unwilling to modify or charge extra for custom. Elderton were happy to make modifications to their original plans, including moving the kitchen, increasing room sizes and modifying the house dimensions to better… Read more

suit our lot, all within the original house design price.

We had Aaron and Kylie as our Site Supervisor and Customer Liaison Officer who provided regular updates throughout the build. Kylie was always prompt in following up on our questions or changes, and Aaron always went the extra mile to ensure a quality build and giving advice throughout build inspections and handover stages.

The cost of the build remained the same throughout the project to completion and we did not receive any hidden costs, as I have heard quite often happens from other Builders.

I would highly recommend building stress free with Elderton.

Good customer service, in-time delivery and high quality build – We built a house with Elderton Home this year at north-west of Sydney. We are very happy with the final house they built for us and would easily see the difference in quality between Elderton Homes and some other builders. I would like to thank Kylie and Maddison as our relationship managers and Ryan as our site manager. They are all very… Read more

professional and responsive to every question we had during the building. This was our first time building, we didn’t know much about building, so we are so grateful that we have been looked after well by Elderton Homes. The house was delivered within the timeframe as per contract and the final completion is great. No drama so far after living in our new house for 1 months, especially we had a few stormy days.

Great Builder for First Home Buyers. Overall very satisfied with our house build by Elderton – Our search for a forever home ended with us choosing Elderton's house and land package. This was after visiting one of their display homes in Marsden Park. The Sales consultant was excellent and guided us through the initial contract. Being a newbie to the housing market, we were very nervous about signing the contract with very little knowledge… Read more

about building a house.

Pre construction and design studio team were simply superb, given project builders such as Elderton would only allow limited time for each selection appointment, decisions need to be made quickly and this includes expensive upgrades. So timely guidance from the experienced consultants and contractors were key in us being able to balance our selection to our budget.

The pre-build and build phase coordinators were always prompt, responsive and polite.

The build phase was very smooth, all stages were on time and house was delivered on time.

We moved into our house in June 2020 and are extremely happy with our house. The quality of workmanship is excellent.

Elderton Homes offer great price point for first home buyers, I would definitely recommend them

Excellent build and great experience - Great service and follow up by building supervisor and client relations officer – Would love to thank Kylie our customer relations officer and Luke our building supervisor. Great to deal with and sorted all our questions out. Loved that in comparison during the initial phase Elderton was super clear on inclusions and costs making the house a near turn-key option. Other builders were not as transparent and missing important… Read more

parts of the house which would of costed more later.

Only Pet peever would be the location of water tank but as we have small land it would of been a pain to move it.

Super grateful for everything and would build with again the 90-day warantee check was in depth and looked at within a week.

Poor service. Unprofessional performance – After deciding on a design that I was assured the house would suit our land. We paid the $1000 dep to have the plans drawn up and move forward. We were given the price and agreed upon this. Elderton failed to point out that the house was in fact sitting on top of the sewer? Just a 17k sewer encasement oversight. We did not find out about this… Read more

oversight until we took a day off work to attend their Sydney head office. As we went through the contract we asked what is the additional 17k for? We were told don't worry about that it is not part of the house price. As we got to the last page of the contract the 17k was added to the final price as it was an "extra". We did not sign the contract. Who would? Due to the fact that the house was not a suitable fit to the land like we were told we asked for our deposit to be returned as Elderton got it wrong, they wasted our time and money, and gave us a bum steer. Elderton management refused which was no surprise, stating that they had worked on these plans for us and these people need to be paid. Then proceeded to tell me that they can fit a different house on the block so the deal still stands. I agree that if a professional had worked on this job they should get paid for doing a reasonable job but they got it wrong and I seriously question the amount of actual effort put into this tender . * The house was not suited to the land when they said it was. *If a professional actually did draw the plans up, why was it not pointed out to me that the house was sitting on top of the sewer? So I'm not happy with their attitude or the underhanded way they do business. Would not recommend them at all. Craig.
