AI reviews summary
The overall sentiment for Empire Window Furnishings is highly positive, with customers frequently praising the professionalism of the installation teams and the aesthetic quality of the finished products. While most experiences are described as seamless and efficient, a segment of customers has reported significant friction regarding administrative communication and post-sales support. Repeat business and word-of-mouth recommendations are common themes among satisfied clients.
Pros
- Professional Installation Teams: Installers (frequently naming Hilly, Ty, and Abbas) are consistently commended for being punctual, courteous, and highly skilled, often going "above and beyond" to ensure a perfect fit.
- High-Quality Aesthetics: Customers are very satisfied with the final appearance of curtains, shutters, and blinds, noting that the products often elevate the look of their rooms and provide a "luxurious" or "stylish" finish.
- Accurate Double-Measurement Policy: The company’s process of sending an installer for a second check-measure before production is highlighted as a reliable way to ensure accuracy and avoid installation errors.
- Competitive and Reasonable Pricing: Multiple reviews indicate that the quotes provided were more affordable than competitors without compromising the quality of the materials.
Cons
- Communication and Scheduling Failures: A recurring issue involves poor coordination between the office and customers, including cancelled appointments without notice, conflicting SMS reminders, and difficulty accommodating work schedules.
- Inconsistent After-Sales Support: Several reports highlight a "take the money and run" approach, where customers struggled to get responses or repairs for missing parts and defective items once the final balance was paid.
- Measurement and Fabrication Errors: While less frequent, some customers experienced significant delays (up to several months) due to curtains or blinds being manufactured to the wrong dimensions or delivered with missing components.
- Aggressive Payment Chasing: Multiple users flagged receiving automated payment reminders or requests for full payment even when installations were incomplete or appointments had been cancelled by the company.
Verdict
Empire Window Furnishings is a strong choice for consumers seeking high-quality window treatments and professional installation at a competitive price point. However, potential customers should be prepared to proactively manage communication with the head office and may encounter scheduling frustrations or delays if initial measurements or parts are incorrect.
Terrible service, non-existing communication, installations mistakes, .... It's been almost a year and my blinds are still not done : after a badly done installation, they took my blinds and told me they would replace them with the correct ones. They told me next week = I waited 1 month, kept calling, they told me on the phone they would reach… Read more
back and give me an update = nothing. Every time I have to call them back just for them to avoid the situation and blatantly lie in response. Their technician came back 5 times, 5 TIMES without the blinds or with the wrong ones because of wrong communication with their boss. And because they make you pay in advance, they know they have no real obligation to solve the problem in a timely manner. This is beyond incompetency, they behave like absolute crooks and total baboons. Unless you want your blinds to be done after waiting for half a century, avoid them at all cost.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but after more than a year of chasing updates and trying to get this issue resolved, I feel it's important to share our experience. We engaged Empire through our builder after they advised they could manufacture and install three motorised blinds for our older Velux skylights. They were the only company we found… Read more
that could provide a solution for these skylights, so we were happy to proceed.
Unfortunately, the experience from there has been disappointing.
Although we were initially advised the blinds could be installed before we moved into our home in December 2024, measurements were not taken until mid-February 2025. The blinds were eventually installed on 9 April 2025, at which point we made final payment.
Less than a week later, one of the blinds became stuck closed. After several weeks of following up, a technician finally attended on 13 May. During the repair attempt, the blind's wire snapped, leaving it permanently open. The temporary solution provided was to tape paper over the skylight, which was neither practical nor an acceptable long-term fix.
After another technician attended, we were advised that the original issue was caused by the wrong-sized mounting brackets being installed. In other words, the ongoing problems appear to have been the result of an installation issue rather than normal wear or misuse.
Despite identifying the cause, we are still waiting for confirmation that the correct brackets have been ordered, when they will arrive, and when the repair will actually be completed. We have spent more than a year requesting updates and repeatedly following up ourselves, with very little proactive communication from Empire.
To make matters more difficult, these blinds are installed in skylights approximately four metres above the floor. The technician specifically advised that the repair requires a very tall A-frame ladder and two technicians, yet this doesn't appear to have been planned for, contributing to further delays.
One blind is currently stuck half open and half closed, while another remains unusable. This room will soon be our baby's nursery, so having functioning blackout blinds is more than just an inconvenience—it is something that needs to be resolved urgently.
After months of delays, poor communication, and unresolved issues, we have now lodged a complaint with Fair Trading.
It's disappointing because Empire appeared confident they could deliver a specialised solution that other companies couldn't. Unfortunately, the after-sales support, communication, and handling of warranty issues have fallen well short of what I would expect after making a significant investment.
Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Empire.
Empire window furnishings we highly recommend !!! especially Hilly who is professional, friendly and really knows how style curtains to optimise each room. The office staff brilliant and the sales rep spot on with style support!!! Show details

Extremely disappointed with my experience with Empire Window Finishings. I paid for a customised roofing system in mid-2024. The first installation in October was the wrong size. The second installation in December was also the wrong size, and my house was physically altered to make it fit. It was installed incorrectly—uprights on angles—and the… Read more
system clunked and shook during operation.
Since then, the roof has been “kind of” repaired multiple times, but the issues persist. The roof remains saggy, and now, both sides no longer move in unison. It’s now June 2025—almost a year since I paid—and despite repeated requests, I’ve been unable to reach anyone in management or have the matter properly escalated.
This level of service is simply unacceptable for a custom product and premium price point.
Do not use this company - they caused $15,400 worth of damage! – I cannot emphasise enough how terrible my experience with Empire has been. Strap in, because this ordeal is a nightmare from start to finish: - Empire’s contractor drilled into our living room ceiling during the blind installation and punctured two holes into a stormwater pipe. This negligence caused water leakage into our apartment ad left us… Read more
with significant damage. - When we called them, Empire advised us to hire our own plumber to assess and fix the damage. The damage amounted to $15,400 which my husband and I were forced to pay out of pocket. Empire showed no urgency or willingness to take responsibility for their contractor's blunder.
- Despite providing invoices, photos, and videos of the damage immediately, Empire did everything possible to delay compensating us. They provided misleading information as they tried to shirk their legal obligation, claiming that we had to wait for this compensation to be paid by their contractor's insurance. That's a lie; under Australian Consumer Law they are directly responsible for providing compensation in a timely manner. Even when I pointed out that what they were doing was illegal, they refused to compensate us. We were forced to wait for reimbursement from the insurance company.
- We paid $3,500 in full for five blinds but only the two smallest blinds were installed. Despite asking for an itemised invoice four times to clarify the refund amount we were owed, they refused to provide one. After pushing them they offered us $2,000 as a refund for three large blinds, two of which were supposed to be motorised. After haggling with them they agreed to a refund of $2,500.
- We were assured that the refund for the uninstalled blinds would be processed within 5-10 business days. After 12 business days with no refund in sight, I called them to follow up. It quickly became apparent that Empire had forgotten to process the refund altogether. They lied, of course, claiming the money had already been processed and was merely taking longer than expected to arrive.
After 18 emails, close to 30 calls, a formal complaint lodged to both Fair Trading and to the ACCC, we have now recouped $17,900 of the money Empire owed us.
Throughout this ordeal, Empire’s communication has been abysmal. We had to constantly chase them up, often calling multiple times a day just to get someone on the phone. Promises of calling us back were never honoured and we only ever received emails from them after much prompting. The delayed responses and their attitude of "we'll get to it when we get to it" has been awful.
Empire has lied and misled us at every turn of events. Their actions, at best, have been deceitful and unprofessional. Some of their actions have just been outright illegal.
If things go wrong, don't you want a business who takes accountability and communicates proactively? Save yourself the stress and the financial loss, hire a different company.

Ozman measured up for blinds and curtains and was very helpful. I went ahead with the quote as it was reasonable. They did a great job and they look amazing. I am a very happy customer and have no hesitation in recommending them.

Thanks Greg and Empire Team. We got curtains for a corner stacker doors setup. There was a piece missing from the curtain hanger and Val the installer and the customer team sorted it for us no problem. Came back promptly and finished install. Empire Blinds and Curtains were very professional. Kelly was informative and did a great measure, quote and delivery of my order. Hilly hung the curtains and blinds beautifully. Very pleased with the whole process. 10/10 Show details
Had a blind installed yesterday. The installer was very professional and did a great job. He couldn’t do it as per the quote as the salesman who came thought it would fit under the pelmet which it didn’t. I think an installer should give the initial assessment quote not a salesman.
The Empire employee was very professional and answered all our queries and was happy to give us advice on some other work my husband and I wanted to have done. The installer was on task without disturbing us. He was very professional as well. The screen doors are giving us extra security now. Show details

They acknowledged the issue, fixed it promptly, and rescheduled the installation just a couple of days later. Despite the early inconvenience, I appreciate how efficiently the issue was resolved. I’m very happy with the final outcome and would still recommend their services.

My experience with Empire Curtains has been the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. We placed our curtain order in October 2025 and initially expected a straightforward process. However, after hearing nothing for months, I contacted the company again in late January 2026 seeking an update. I was then informed that our order… Read more
had never been placed into the system and had effectively been forgotten. Once this issue was finally rectified, an installation was scheduled for April 2026. Unfortunately, when the installers arrived, the curtain measurements were incorrect, resulting in further delays and frustration. When the curtains were eventually installed, they did not resemble the curtains we had previously purchased from Empire Curtains for our former home. The colour appeared noticeably different, and the material looked and felt significantly cheaper than what we had previously received. When I raised these concerns, I was advised that manufacturers can change materials over time and that products may therefore differ from previous orders. While I appreciate that materials can evolve, the difference in appearance and quality was disappointing and not what we expected based on our prior experience with the company.
I spoke with several customer service representatives who were unable to assist and continually passed me from one person to another. Eventually, I was referred to Sherry, who was introduced as the Operations Manager. While discussing my concerns, I found some of her responses to be aggressive without resolution and unfortunately she also failed to return calls when promised.
Throughout this process, communication was virtually non-existent. I was repeatedly told that I would receive callback updates, but those calls never came. I was even advised that the Ray the National Regional Manager would contact me on several occasions however, I never received a call. Does he even exist? Always told a different story as to why he is not available but will contact me.
I was then passed on to Alyssa as Sherry does not want to deal with the issue at hand who appeared to have limited knowledge of my matter and was unable to provide clear answers or resolution. The lack of communication, accountability, attention to detail, and ownership shown throughout this process has been extremely disappointing. Customers should not have to chase updates, discover that their order was never processed, deal with incorrect measurements, question the quality of the final product, or continually repeat their concerns to multiple people.
I need this issue to be rectified asap. I did choose another material however my issue is they based on my experience I believe they need to compromise and compensate for all of the issues that they have created which has not been the case.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Empire Curtains.
A few issues occurred that did not make dealing with this company go smoothly. The initial measure and quote went well and carried out the day after initial the request. The issues started to arise in booking the second measure by the installer. I found that they were not willing to accomodate offering this second measure in the middle of the day… Read more
or early afternoon despite repeatedly advising that I work outside the home: making suggestions can't I arrange someone to be there. This is the world of the 21st century not the 1950s: I offered days and times that I could be available. Finally after much twowing and throwing a date was set for the a week away between 4-5pm. At 5pm I receive a text that the installer was running late and would be arriving after 5:15, I advised this did not suit and cancelled. Another appointment needed to be made and the same process as previsously unwilling to accommodate. Finally, the second measurement was completed a week or so later. Some three weeks later I received a text stating the day and time the curtains would be installed between 12:00 and 1:00pm. At 1:00 the installer text saying he would arrive after 2pm. This was unacceptable as I had to rearrange my day, take a day off work. I spoke with three employees from this company, two who were reading off a script and completely unhelpful, and the third person who I managed to have a decent conversation with. They did admit they made a mistake in sending three texts advising the 12-1 installation and sending the installer a 12-2pm time. Major problem here with communication at the client's expense. As to the curtains they look lovely however while marketed as light filtering for privacy day and night and are quite adequate during the day: but in the evening even with only soft lamp light the curtains are not effective: and moreso with a ceiling light on. The curtains looked amazing in the show room but be warned the showroom has down lights which creates a very different effect. Lachlan the installer did a great job, quick, efficient and removed and took away the exising vertical blinds. The two stars are for the company.
I would like to let you know of my dissatisfaction with time taken from quote to installation. Quote was in December 25 and installation was on 1/4/26. So all summer I had no shade on the western windows.. As well as asking for half the costs of the blinds, I was texted to have full payment before the installation. The longer the time delay, the… Read more
