Everdure cube by Heston Blumenthal – I love this BBQ! It is WAY better at retaining heat than my weber kettle. Very well built. Ive used it a lot over the last couple of years with no problems. Super portable. People who say it isn't hot enough need to learn how to use charcoal or heat-beads. A couple of layers thick with heat beads and this thing is HOT. you may even need less. The insulation is awesome too. Not like a weber where it leaks straight out. Love the Everdure Cube!! Show details ·  1

Cracked orange enamel in base after second use – Only lasted 2 goes before bad cracking appeared in the bottom orange enamel paint. I had used several layers of aluminium foil to protect the base but it didn't help. No idea if this is unit is now compromised or if it is expected given the other reviews - but its pretty poor quality nonetheless. Otherwise the unit does a good job as a small BBQ.  Show details

Perfect for 2. Easy to clean – The CUBE grills vegetables and small cuts of meat/fish/poultry. It is as easy or hard to start as you like; smart operators will use odourless firestarters and a heat gun. It makes for an engaging and intimate cooking experience when used on a communal dining table outside; the smells and sounds of the grilling, the radiated warmth…. Best of all… Read more ·  1

(considering any ol’ tub of charcoal can be used as a grill) is that it is compact enough to take inside and clean in the kitchen sink. I have managed to keep mine in immaculate condition with little more effort than I’d put into a frypan. I love mine!

Great unit – We had a small well known brand BBQ that we could not get replacement gill and charcoal rack for. We purchased the Cube online with other kitchen accessories. This is the first time we have cooked with real charcoal (we typically used 'heat beads' on the old We**er, or wood in our outdoor oven). Cooking with charcoal is great, the bbq is just… Read more

fine for the two of us. It is very quick, giving meat and vegetables a great 'char grill' flavour. It is relatively easy to clean, scrub with bicarb soda and water (as soon as it cools down) as this will eventually give the enamel a smooth 'non stick' easy to clean finish . The enamel cracked/crazed on the inside after the first use, and that bit is getting darker and harder to clean. I think a lid for indirect cooking would be a great accessory, I may try to make one out of sheet metal. I assume that it is easy to buy replacement grills and charcoal baskets when they start to wear out. We will also buy the cover just to be able to store on a shelf neatly etc. wil

Great bbq perfect for my needs – After reading reviews of damaged bbqs I was worried I’d made a mistake but I love this bbq. I used a Christmas Amazon gift card to buy this bbq. It looks beautiful and is so easy to store. It’s small enough to carry on your own and easy to whip out at a picnic. I would say that the instruction booklet that comes with the bbq could be clearer and… Read more ·  1

that would probably reduce a lot of the problems people are having. I read the reviews and lined the orange interior with foil. I used 25 coconut shell heat beads and 6 samba white fire starter as per the ecoboats review (Thankyou great review) taking care to place all on the lower grate and not in the black tray. I made sure the black tray was set on the side pins. The idea is after the flames quickly die out from the fire starter the charcoal is hot, alight and covered in ash but there is no flame. I took care to keep the heat beads away from the sides of the bbq but spread them evenly. All the beads were fully alight and covered with ash within 20 minutes. At that point I put the top grate on and started cooking my meat and wow. We had thick cut eye fillets and they cooked really quickly. Nothing beats a great charcoal flavour. It burned for over 2 hours. I could easily have cooked four large steaks and the cooking time was so quick you could have had many rounds of cooking if your party is large. Next time I think I will use 20 heat beads- just enough to cover the area on the grate with heat beads close to each other but only one bead deep. I think I had a bit too many. I allowed my beads to burn out and that took 2.5 hours which was a bit annoying because I felt I had to keep an eye on the bbq all that time but I would probably use less beads next time. At the end I dusted the ash into the bin, washed the two grates and black tray in the sink with dishwasher liquid and it was easier than cleaning oven trays. My Canadian friend has always said that Australians don’t know how to make fires - they like an inferno. I wouldn’t buy this bbq if you will be routinely entertaining a large extended family gathering but for a small group of friends or a couple it’s great. I have wanted a portable bbq for a long time and the things that probably stopped me getting one was storing it somewhere, the price and mess. For me this bbq is perfect.

First go – Great little bbq, bought one the other day to go with our Jayco caravan for our summer treats. Didn't quite fit in the bottom locker by about 4mm, so took the little rubber feet off and now does. Bloody Awesome!!! – Love this cube!! I've only used it once but it cooked with no issues ever with unexpected crazy winds. It's portable and light. It has its own storage compartment with the copping board, which is super handy. No I don't have to worry about using the crappy public BBQs around if I down the park or lake, and just use this little beast!!

Awesome little BBQ – We picked the Cube up off Gumtree as an unwanted gift. I have cooked all sorts of meals on it. For two people it is great. I would recommend it for small spaces like balconies etc. Our cube doesn’t get treated very well or looked after, we have never had a problem with it. The manufacturer would probably be horrified at what I do to it. Show details ·  1

Absolutely awesome! The best bbq I have purchased – I purchased this as it's a small cooking area (less charcoal) for 2 people and this far exceeds my expectation. Great! – This bbq can cook anything! Although the size is small, it is still capable of cooking for 4 people. It is easy to clean and have not had problems using in the rain or wind. The bbq heats up very well and quite evenly. It is very convenient to move around and can be taken anywhere due to its convenient size. Very happy with purchase. Show details ·  1

Was excited but got disappointed – Gotten an Everdure Cube from my friend as a bday present. Was all excited about it until i opened it up. Good but could have been excellent – We bought this product mostly because we were looking for a charcoal BBQ and this was available brand new (with the carry bag) for about one third of the normal price. We had never heard of this brand before seeing the Cube for sale. To be honest, the normal retail price is VERY high even though it seems as though the unit is of reasonable… Read more

quality. I suspect the price has as much to do with the celebrity endorsement, as with the actual cost of production.

As we have only used it once, we can't say a great deal about how well it lasts but so far there is no sign of the cracking that others have mentioned. Ours is a grey coloured BBQ so perhaps the type of paint used for different colours may have some impact.

The biggest problem with a BBQ that is meant to be portable, is not being able to put it out. Charcoal burns for a long time and there isn't much option but to just let it burn out. This is why I gave the rating of 3 stars instead of anything higher. We do a great deal of travelling and this BBQ will be useful for the times we camp overnight and have time to allow the fire to go out. It isn't going to be as useful for day trips - which is really why we bought it in the first place.

The charcoal lights easily so the ventilation obviously works well. We have had charcoal burners that are a nightmare to get going, even with fire-lighters.

The bag is a nice addition and seems well thought out but there is no hint of what the elastic straps inside the zipped compartment are for. Someone must have spent time working out what those straps are supposed to hold but I can't find any information on it anywhere. In fact, that almost complete lack of any useful information on this BBQ online is rather surprising. We created our own video of the first use on our YouTube channel (wanowandthen). It may be of some help for people looking at these as a potential purchase.

A good addition to the BBQ is a square grilling pan (see the video above if you aren't sure what I am talking about). This allows a nice flat plate surface to cook on if you are adding some cooked veggies to your meal.

The charcoal generates plenty of heat so running out of cooking time won't be a problem.

Overall, this seems like a good product that with a bit more thought, could have been excellent. Unfortunately, we seem to live in a world where designers don't actually use the products they design. A top metal plate to cut oxygen to the charcoal and put the fire out, should have been very high on the list of priorities for the design team.

We will continue to use the product and report our findings on our main website under our 'Product Reviews' pages. (Website can be searched with the same name as the YouTube channel.)

Love it! Wish I could give it 5 stars – I gave this to my husband as a gift, we used it the day he opened it as we were so excited! It lights super quick (25mins) even on a windy day, the coals sit nice and low protecting them from the wind. heavy as I thought it would be and I was suprised how much we were able to cook on it despite it being so little.

I loved that we could put the coals directly into the bottom and then take it with us, the tray and board are nice and big and it was so easy to clean since the racks all fit in my sink! I also didn't have any problems cleaning the enamel as others seemed to have.

I had read that some people had issues with the orange enamel cracking so we were very careful not to use too many coals to ensure we didnt overheat it as I had read that this was the most likely cause. Well, despite our best efforts (using less than the coals recommended and lining with foil) after one use, we have cracking. Every bottom corner is cracked and some cracking on the bottom surface too. I'm devastated because we love it so much and my friends loved it too. I also have a hole in my board but that doesnt bother me as much.

Photos are attached.

Want to love it but can’t – My wife and I bought a cube. I have to say it’s great across three areas: it looks cool; cooks food great; and It’s portable....But... if you like your charcoal cooking then you probably have a few Weber’s (big and small) hanging around. Well the cube isn’t any match. We’re actually on our second cube. Our first one malfunctioned with 4 cooks -… Read more

the enamel in the fire box (yes the nice orange enamel) burnt, cracked and flaked off. I emailed evendure and to their credit, they didn’t hesitate to give me a code for a refund or a replacement. So...I went back to the store I bought it from and got a replacement. Within 4 or 5 cooks the same thing happened again! I’m frustrated because I really like the idea and the features of the cube, but it makes no sense to manufactures a bbq that can’t handle heat. I’ll stick with my cube resigned to the fact that it looks cool, is expensive and won’t last too long.

Super little powerhouse BBQ!!! – I was gifted this little powerhouse from my wife as an anniversary present last year and I can honestly say it's suberb! I cook on it at least 2-3 times a week. So quick to light up and get to temp. cleaning can be easy however I go struggle to get the orange rim clean, with that said I would still give it 5 stars! At least it's not round – Had my cube a few years now. Not sure how others melt the rubber feet. I've had no problems and I sit mine on top of the plastic lid with the board on it. Guessing they must be placing the charcoal tray directly on the bottom of the cube instead of sitting it on the 4 stud's poking out the sides. I use mine virtually every week, sometimes more. do think they missed the boat with the plastic storage and board though. Would rather it was made out of metal so you can place it directly on after you have finished. It would suffocate the charcoal very fast depriving it of oxygen. You certainly save a lot of money on charcoal because you can use it again. So I made my own lid out of thick stainless steel. I mean really, when you go to a park how else are you suppose to put it out, certainty not water. There are a lot of things you can cook on it if you think outside the circle. As for cleaning it to make it look new lol it's a bbq who cares if it's dirty, it gives it character.

Extremely happy with this purchase – Was looking for a portable Charcoal Grill, I have never used one before but love a steak ( rib eye bone in ) cooked on coals. ) It took about 15 -20 min to get to heat- ambers glowing with no assistance or fiddling . 1 kg of meat - cooking time was 15 min ( turning every two ) with some added wood chips for flavour. I lined the bottom of the tray with foil,( protect the table I was on in case of heat going down. ) I also lined the insert tray-ash collector with foil for easy cleaning then placed the fire starters under the coal grill sitting above the tray coals on top ( 16ish)- probably should add pics next time.

the result was fantastic.

clean up was easy

will happily post pics of all above steps including results and cleaning if interested.

Good for a day at the park – After months of hesitation, I bought the CUBE after reading the review below from Eco BBQ Boats, sounded like they knew it well and so far so good. briquettes as it will overheat and damage the Cube! 25 Briquettes are good for at least 2 hours BBQ time.

As fire starter we use 6 to 8 Samba White Brick Firelighters (Bunnings) in the lower fire pan and we then stack the briquettes in a heap over the firelighters onto the lower grate.

When the flames are gone after 5 to 8 minutes we spread the briquettes evenly. Allow another 5 to 8 minutes to built an evenly white ash cover on the briquettes.

IMPORTANT: Wait for the firestarter flames to be fully died and then spread the briquettes BEFORE you put the top grate on! - Otherwise the top grate will be covered in disgusting oily remains of the firestarters.

Before we put the top grate on we give the top of the surrounding orange enamel a quick wipe with a damp micro fibre cloth to remove the stains from the firelighters.

For best cleaning results : white vinegar, micorfibre cloth for the body and stainless steel brush for the grates.

So far ALL of our customers were impressed by this little BBQ.

And, NO, we never had any cracks in the enamel so far cause we avoided overheating the BBQs. Gerd

Goid portable grill – This may be a small unit but it is so good to use while on picnics, camping or even at home for a few burgers.
