Expedia is Fraud

Never ever go to Expedia again, I bought a Japan package with trip protection cover. When the booking is done, it only booked one way trip plus hotel without a return trip. I request to cancel the trip, Expedia said they only can cancel the hotel without refund. Then I have to call airline by myself to cancel the one way flight, told by airline company the flight is none refund as well…what’s worse is I checked my bank account, noticed Expedia collected double amount from my account. I have no choice have to call bank for help. Any suggestions to get my $5000 back from Expedia? Show details

Master Scammers

Wonderfully refined method of scamming your money. Booked through Expedia for Reef Hotel, Hamilton Island flying with Virgin Airlines. Flight was cancelled with promised refund. Accomodation was downgraded and promised refund not refunded. Virgin Airlines and the Reef Hotel both hide behind Expedia's mask of crookedness. Expedia won't talk to me. Virgin and The Reef refuse to talk with me and say talk to Expedia. What a magnificient scamming structure they have created. Congratulations Expedia, Virgin & Hamilton Island.

Deceptive travel insurance through Expedia

I purchased one night's accommodation and took the travel insurance offered by Expedia. My step-dad passed away and so we couldn't travel. They denied the claim ($165) as they don't cover this. Very disappointing as the insurance cost $16.50 and with normal comprehensive travel insurance this would have been covered. NEVER USE EXPEDIA'S TRAVEL INSURANCE!!! Show details

Expedia issues with FULL refund for flights not cancelled by me. RESOLVED 7 days later

Received an email from Expedia saying my flight is cancelled. I chat/called to get a refund, they could not confirmed a full refund, instead I only see flight credits on the website. I keep trying to get support, but every agent says something different. Either it is not their problem because airline policy says only flight credits, or they cannot confirm whether they will refund or just give flight credits. Frustratingly enough, I need written confirmation to get a chargeback application happening via the bank. Show details

No outbound booking was made and I was forced to buy two tickets separately

I tried to book a return ticket cph-bcn and the outbound trip was cancelled. I thus got only the return ticket. The agent told me he could do nothing and told me to call the airlines. More than one hour later I got an email telling me to complete the booking which the agent did not inform me about. Meanwhile I was forced to buy a separate outbound ticket at a far more expensive price.

Wish i had read these reviews before booking . Charged $232 for our stay and its on line for the same room and same booking company for $178 now ... Contacted them for an explanation and got nothing back at all . Just the sound of crickets ... Show details

Left High and Dry and Out of Pocket at the Heritage Hotel Auckland

Left high and dry and out of pocket after we booked a transfer on Expedia from Heritage Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand to the Auckland Airport for 22 February, only to be told that the alleged transfer agent had lost our booking. My wife contacted Expedia immediately and since then has tried to have the money refunded only to be ignored. I think Expedia needs to refund the money immediately and seek reimbursement from the transfer agent. You would think that would be standard operating procedure but instead we have been completely ignored. May my wife and I should contact our bank and have the payment to Expedia revoked. Show details

Don't trust

Took 2 hours to use my airline credits, false information when marketing, charged additional fees on top of changed fees. Agent in chat dropped out 4 times and I had to repeat my quest 4 times. Ended up calling which took a further hour. Show details

Scam website

We booked a hotel for the night in Fiji. The app said $427 if you pay now, or $602 if you pay at the hotel. We payed now and they charged us $602. I called them and sent them the requested screen shots, yet they still insisted we pay $602. In the end they said "cancel then". Scam website that I'll not use again. I'll cancel the other $6k I spent on the rest of our holiday too. Show details

Do Not Use This Site To Book Accommodation

It is impossible to contact them to discuss an issue, there web site just keeps going around in circles. They never sent me a confirmation for a booking I made a few months prior so I made a different booking but they still charged me> I tried to contact them but because I don't have a confirmation I don't have the itinerary it won't let me send an email!! I booked hotel accommodation in San Francisco and paid in full. I received a dead link to the booking and no record of the booking. Could not contact the company and I paid them a considerable amount of money for absolutely nothing! Case filed through paypal. Show details

It appears that Expedia’s total costs for car hire from (and return) to Montreal for 14 days in August are about or less than a quarter of the same vehicles on the actual car hire websites (eg $35 a day compared to over $200 a day). It seems too good to be true. How can this be? What is the likelihood that a car would actually be ready and waiting (at, say, Hertz or Thrifty) with no other hire cost upon arrival to collect the car?

I'd say the likelihood that you're being used as a bank, ie pay in advance, then get the service cancelled prior and then wait for your refund is reasonably high. See my review for how they do that with flights.
