Ripped off

I searched for REX airline site on line to price a flight.
When I went back to the site to book a few days later I noticed the Cheaper promo flights were no longer available.
I had to fly on that date so I booked the flight which was twice as much as the promo.
When I paid with my credit card I was suddenly redirected to Expedia and my payment was processed, how does this happen when you are on REX airline site? There was no mention of Expedia until the payment stage.
It seems Expedia have to resort to deception to get business.
I called REX to see if they could help but was told this happens frequently and people angy about it.
I cannot cancel my ticket without loosing my payment so I am stuck paying twice as much.

I booked my sisters ticket from Toronto to Sydney through Expedia, for my fathers memorial service. Two days before her flight I got an urgent email to contact them. Air Canada had cancelled part of her flight from Toronto to San Francisco, which happens. I call their customer service and explain the flight they booked her back on will not suffice as it gives her less than 30 minutes to catch the connecting flight to Sydney. I am told to hold on and they will get back to me in two hours. Customer service calls back and offers two options, one is having her fly to San Francisco that morning, and then wait at the airport for 12 hours until her connecting flight leaves for Sydney, or fly the milk run from Toronto, to NYC, then to LAX before leaving for Sydney. I advised that neither offer was an ideal option, and I am told that I have 30 minutes to decide and he will call back. I speak to my sister and she has to juggle several things back home, but decides to go the NYC/LA route. He calls back and when I tell him to book the flight, he tells me that it's too late, the flights are full. I asked him about the flight he proposed, and why wasn't it held? It's only been 30 minutes! I ask to speak to his supervisor, as this is outrageous and poor customer service. He places me on hold again for about 5 minutes, and miraculously comes back with a seat on the NYC/LA flight. I ask for him to assign her a seat in an exit row for compensation for this entire mess, and he tells me he can't assign any seats. I have heard of Expedia doing this to customers, so they don't incur any additional fee's for rescheduled flights. Now I know it's true. I will never book with Expedia again.

worst customer service, manipulative, no sense of responsibility or honesty. Not recommended at all.

I called up expedia to make a booking, the person over the phone gave confirmed the rates that were different to what the website offered. After telling him about the rate and difference he put me on hold to check what coyld be done. He says the rates are different to what customers can see as they use some other website to book. after a while he confirms to offer the rate that i had seen online and just before I give the card details, he abruptly cuts the call. i have never been returned a call or an apology letter...this is how least their customer service is...i was on a call with the staff member for 30mins on the call.
I call the same nos immediately and ask for the same peraon who i was talking to earlier and this time the person talking to me says there is nobody with this name ans i cant transfer the call. He later offers me a rate for a higher pricing and not the same type of room either. says i will be paying the x amt and after 3-5 days would get a refund of $50 in my account. upset with the difference in the communication i decide to not book the room. I made another call n the person this time is a rude lasy on the phone who denies to know any of the above people and gives me an even higher rate saying it is the last room left and the rates hace chamged since the time i made the last call. Although dissappointed, had to book this place as our other friends booked the same place...
In all my conversation with expedia, i realised that the staff is not at all helpful, no sense of accountability and highly manipulative by mature. the room's actual price was $80 a night but i ended up paying $165/night and was not offered any discount as shown by expedia website.

Expedia owned car rentals.com totally misleading! Don’t use it!

I booked a car from Munich airport through car rentals.com owned by Expedia. The booking was with Thrifty but this is really Hertz. When picking up the car they were not at all impressed with the agreement with car rentals.com - were unwilling to accept the insurance taken out with Allianz on the car rentals website. I was charged more than double the agreed rate with car rentals.com as they charged me for the built in GPS in the car - which cost more than the whole car rental signed with car rentals.com. The taxes were three times that quoted by car rentals.com. my advice don’t rent through this site and never use Thrifty/ Hertz in Europe.
Aussie ripped off badly.

Not worth Rating - beware of your booking with Expedia

Booked accommodation (2 rooms) in Alaska in early October 2018 for August 2019, knowing that it is peak season I booked with ample time. I received an email and Itinerary confirmation in October 2018 that both rooms were booked. I followed up with the hotel this week to ensure that we had adjoining rooms and to enquire about airport transfers. To my surprise I was advised by the hotel that there was no such booking. I sent the hotel a copy of the Expedia Itinerary confirmation and they further investigated and advised that Expedia had accepted our booking but had not forwarded it on to the hotel. After 55 minutes on a telephone call with Expedia and speaking to several people all I was told was "not to worry" they would sort. I was eventually advised that it was a problem within Expedia not the hotel and I was also promised that they would look for alternative accommodation and get back to me. That was over 24 hours ago and still not a courtesy of a reply. They are frustrating to deal with as there is no email to contact them through, only by phone (obviously they do not want any proof of their incompetence) and they expect you to hold on rather than take a phone number and call you back. My concern is that had I not made further enquiries we would have arrived in Alaska and 4 adults would have been looking for accommodation at the last minute if any available at all.
I have since dealt directly with the hotel and they have been incredibly helpful in assisting with resolving a booking for us and I will provide that positive feedback as appropriate.
I have now been able to cancel the bookings through Expedia (online) and have received confirmation of the cancellations for both rooms. My concern now is that Expedia will charge my credit card with the cost of the accommodation regardless. I guess I will have to wait until August to see what happens then and take on another fight. I have all the proof if a representative from Expedia wishes to contact me.
This is the first time I have used Expedia, I am a seasoned traveller and I have mostly used another competitor or direct with the hotel over the years and never had a problem. Expedia pick up your game.

Used this site to book a hotel and was greatly disappointed. If I could give this site zero ratings, I would. Best look at over sites so you are not overcharged.

Hopeless never use this again

Double charged for airfare on 20/02/19
12/03/19 still no refund for double charge.
4 phone calls to Expedia "SUPPORT" and get 4 different answers ,emailed statement of double charges and recevied 4 emails "we will contact you in 3 working days" email received on 04/03.
Today is 12.03 on contact made. Taking matter to fair trading.

Terrible experience

Book air ticket for 4 people. Get charged and trip confirmed. A few days later another pending transaction appears on my bank statment with same amount (over 4,700 AUD!!!) and I cann't use my account at all. Call customer service many times, nothing happened. Terrible experience!

Disgusted with custmer service. Paid $2400.00 for Disney tickets, site indicated between 10 minutes and 24 hours, 3 days later and money taken from our account immediately still no tickets. After speaking to Expidia can take 7 days to process, and no cancellation even though website is not accurate. Expidia stated they were waiting on Disney and there was nothing they could do. Phoned Disney directly 3 days after Expidia have taken our money and had not yet received booking from Expidia. expedia representative lied on several occasions, very frustrating. We now are unanle to book our fast passes in advance. Would not r recommend anyone buying tickets through this dodgy, lying unproffessional site


Terrible will never use again

Absolute ripoff found same room cheaper 2 days before we were to check in got given the runaround then when we went to check in we questioned the price and were told there is nothing they could do and that we just had to deal with paying an extra 200 dollars and we couldn't cancel our old booking ti rebook at the new price or we would end up paying double. Lady on the phone was so rude and told us we just had to email a complaint to them what sort of a company doesn't have a phone number for people to call for complaints. Maybe they did but got rid of it after to many complaints...


If you think you might cancel your booking - DO NOT use this site

Becoming ill and unable to travel, the attempts to find a contact number or cancel online is near impossible, it has taken two weeks to try to cancel as the site offers MANY alternatives - none are relevant to cancelling, eventually a local[?they say America - but, in reality another nation] number is provided, you MUST give a reason, despite free cancellation available... easier to use other booking sites or if you know where you are going/staying/airline - go direct... helpful, but, VERY unhappy....


Duped to pay more

Website failed multiple times booking! I called up, they said clear cache and try again, but kinda insisted book on phone with them. I said I will try through website, after 5 attempts through website ended up going through sales person on phone, but it was over 100 dollars more, he said he had latest prices . He said he will direct me to someone to sort out ( once I booked these non refundable tickets), only to get a Expedia credit with a whole bunch of conditions for next trip. I suspect this was a commission/marketing ploy, I feel a bit violated by such dishonest behaviour, think they call this ‘Bait and Switch’ offer low prices which aren’t truely available.

Problem with refund

I’m sorry to write this... i try everything and i Said that i will not put on public but... no answer. I Book flight and accidently put wrong date. After 4 min i called expedia and guy told me no problem we will Cancel your flight and you will get back your refund in 72 hours. The man was very kind but i still didn’t get my money. I called expedia again (Yesterday and today) and Yesterday they told me that everything is ok and i have to call my bank to see if there is any problem. Bank told me that they didn’t transfer any money yet. I called today and they told me the same think and that i can call my airline (Croatia Airlines). I called and Croatia Airlines and my bank. They both Said that expedia have to give me my refund Because they didn’t proceed my money to airline (i canceled after 4 minutes). I try to call supervisor and he also Said my money will be on my account today (again) and after that i check again with my bank i spoke with one female agent who was very rude. So... what can i do? I want to Book flight again, 326e is a lot of money for me and i don’t have money to Book again. I already sent a mail to travel@support expedia and no answer.

I think i’ll Never Book with expedia again.

Absolutely disgusting! Worst company in the world. Dont even deserve a star at all!

They were not helpful at all! I requested to cancel a booking that I had made with them and that was not able to happen. They said they could change my reservation but they would charge almost double to do so. They told me that the hotel was reasonable for not canceling and what not, when I rang the hotel them selves and they told me that it had nothing to do with them yet, and that they would cancel it. They are low life, scum.

worst travel company ever

they say that they offer the complete package and advise yet they forgot one fundamental part of it and that's to tell us we needed a visa. imagine the shock when the check in person told asked wheres our visas.. .so $700 later for 2 visas that normally cost $ 70 we managed to go on our tip. spoke to expedia and they said they don't do visas anymore ad we should have checked...we should have checked!! why didn't they tell us as part of the so called total advise..seriously talk about ducking for cover. on our return we wrote to Expedia expressing our disappointment at the whole processes and how it made our trip less than enjoyable starting off with an extra $ 700 bill Before we even got on the plane and here we are 6 months later and still o reply. what an appalling organisation. shame on you expedia

go to flight centre as they really do go through the whole trip in detail with whats required.

I will never use Expedia again

I booked hotel accommodation via Expedia.
The advert for our accommodation does not match what my family received. It was so bad that my family only stayed one night of the four nights we booked. We were refused a refund and Expedia (who we booked through) have been unhelpful.

Expedia have failed to address my complaint which relates to misleading advertising.

I took photographs but Expedia don't want to know.

Expedia advertisement states that there is daily housekeeping free bottled water cookware dishware the advert also says that the hotel amenities have shopping on site. There was no shopping on site, the apartment was not self-contained, it was not luxury etc.

Expedia have been unhelpful. I will never give them my business again.

Too bad so sad - tell someone that cares !

Booked an apartment stay in Central Auckland 17 and 18 January 2019 at Avanti Apartments.

When we got there the management had never heard of us - despite our booking with Expedia. Expedia did not make the booking.

The apartment management were very good and helped us (full marks to them). They found us two separate rooms - one each night at two different properties. This meant that we had to interrupt our holiday to move apartments which were some distance away from each other.

Expedia did not seem to care. No apology from them, no contact from them despite our complaint or offer of compensation for our interrupted holiday. AND guess what - they did not publish our review that was complementary of the property but very critical of Expedia. Be careful when you read their 'verified reviews' - they may not be all that they seem.

Was previously a good Expedia customer.

Car rental prices don't match.... service is embarassing!

I'd really use caution when making a car rental booking with Expedia. I booked a vehicle in Cape Town which quoted in AUD (obviously, on the Australian website) but had the standard clause "you will be charged XXX ZAR at pickup". This is pretty normal, as obviously the car will be charged in local currency. Upon receiving my rental invoice from Hertz, they'd charged me more than the advertised ZAR amount. I got onto Expedia and this is where the fun began. First they ignored me for 9 days, then I get a series of FB messages over hours stating "no it's because of the currency conversion" etc etc. They then proceeded to send me Hertz documents that clearly state "amount to pay at counter - XXX" which matches my Expedia confirmation ""you will be charged XXX ZAR at pickup". The problem is, this is not what Hertz charged. They tried to say (probably 10 times) that Hertz quoted me in AUD and converted it to ZAR (obviously not the case) and the amount charged matched the AUD amount. Good story, except it didn't even come close to matching! I called and spoke with Expedia on the phone and they said "yes you should have been charged XXX" (as per the confirmation) however they had no idea why. The social media team continued to send countless messages stating "no it's definatley right, it's all about the currency exchange". They clearly just can't get their head around the fact that the quoted pickup price (that's written on TWO documents - one from Expedia and one from Hertz) isn't going to change (but their converted AUD price on the website obviously will). The customer service is beyond a joke. If it wasn't so frustrating, it would be funny. Don't use them to book cars (or anything for that matter), as they clearly don't understand how currency works.

I’ve sent several emails to Expedia requesting an update, and they simply ignore them. There are serious service issues at this company.

Do not hire a car through Expedia

Booked a car for $886.07 and when I got there it ended up costing me $1,488.89 because the quote had no insurance at all included. I have always booked cars through web sites and have never had this issue with other companies. I called Expedia once I found out and they pointed to an obscure line in there generic blurb about insurance. Sure you can always up grade insurance to remove excess amounts but not have any level of cover at all. Also another suggestion is to never book a car through Green Motion (through Ace). Although you probably can not blame them for the above issue when I got the car it was covered in damage. When I brought it back they claimed I had added a scratch (one). I could not see how they could have worked that out from just paper mark ups of damage locations. Tip - Always take photos, I had. Again have never had this happen to me before. I only put one star because you can not put less.

Never buy from expedia

Never buy any ticket from them ...you will regret it bad....soo bad they are ....we bought ticket Melbourne to Perth and wanted to change date ..they said no seat available but on website it was virgin airline....just because they want us to pay them more differences ....never go to them buy direct from airline so easy date change or refund....

Hi Expedia, I booked some singapore airlines flights on the website last wednesday (March 6th), the authorisation for payment was taken immediately. On Monday (March 11th) Singapore airlines took the payment from my account in 2 parts, the per person amount, still equalling the correct amount. However the authorisation is still being held on my card, its now Wednesday March 13. This has resulted in my account being overdrawn and as such accumulation of bank fees. Can someone please tell me how to get the authorisation/hold off my card ASAP?! I've never had this issue with expedia before, I'm a gold member so have booked plenty in the past. I'm really stressed out and need this sorted now!! Help!!

Is this the same company that is owned by expedia group USA ? ( trivago, hotels.com etc). If it is the ACCC are looking into their bussiness practices in Australia for some kind extortion racket according to Dick Smith website. Does Expedia receive a commission from the bookings even when they stuff them up?

Hi Dangles, I'm not sure if it is the same, but having said that, I was redirected to 'America', but spoke to an angry lady, whom may have been Indian. Despite free cancellation policy, I needed a 'reason' for the cancellation, that threw me... I am not aware of any fees charged, however, the booking was in fact for a friend so I will get them to check their cc... cheeky buggers... after the fiasco, I have decided to pay the hotel prices and book with them... the hotel staff also made a remark about them not advertising their contact details, as they are giving those details out daily... Thankyou for your information, I will check out Dick's website... I'm also alerting my travelling friends to my experience with expedia... have a great day:)

The moderator is pretty picky... you probably used a profanity - a list that often has 'everyday' words the moderator obviously hasn't heard before OR just in a bloody minded mood... who knows, no consistency...
