Nice fridge with lots of great features. Sizeable capacity that's great for parties, seasonal family gatherings, etc. Love the water dispenser that provides a hook up for our reverse osmosis filtration system and the ice maker. Perfect, love it. Downside is that for an appliance costing $4500, you'd expect to have an egg tray somewhere. Well, if… Read more

it had an egg tray I would've scored it 5 stars. So, I designed and 3d printed a PETG egg tray to fit. I'm happy now.

7mth Update: I'll just add some updates after 7mths, its mostly fine but the issues I have found are: 1) The Doors don't close well.. and then often dont trigger an alarm.. so I sometimes realise the door has been slightly ajar for hours... 2) The French Doors also dont close easily.. I found using a silicon spray in the left side door really… Read more

helped them close better.. but they need a good push to close. 3) Feel like the ice is very unreliable in terms of quantity.. but maybe its just our usage.. 4) Sometimes there is the slight noise of a fan hitting ice that is familiar to me from previous fridges.. and im hoping it is defrosting itself as needed.. but this is why I recommend the extended warranty on fridges, there is so much that can go wrong.

Still no regrets though, every fridge has issues (honestly), but will report back as time goes on.

============== Original Review: ============== Hoping this fridge will last longer than my previous two.. after a lot of research, Fisher & Paykel are one of the brands who put the ice machine into the freezer itself (with a really easy to use sliding tray), this should alleviate one of the main failure points versus other models that keep the ice maker in the fridge section.

There are 3 different model numbers for the same fridge.. one has handles, one doesn't (which is mine, the RF605QNUVX1), and one seems discontinued.. and there are also 2 sizes, this is the larger one @538L (even though the model number suggests it should be 605L), but id say its the former because its definitely much much smaller than our previous 680L fridge.

Layout is pretty good, I really miss having a fruit & vege drawer to slide out though, but other than that its nice and open, nice solid metal on the shelf construction that looks much tougher than the usual plastic, and really nice sliding trays in the freezer.

The Variable section in the bottom right was a big draw card as I like to be able to choose to have more freezer or more fridge as needed.. but in the end I found it has to be used as a freezer, there just isnt enough room to do it any other way.. so its probably not the draw card I was hoping in the end.

Lot of complaints about fingerprints (due to lack of handles) but this is probably only a big deal if you are a real stickler for that stuff.. I dont tend to notice it.

I actually got the 5yr warranty this time, I find fridges are the 1 appliance that you can get very unlucky with.. they are quite complex thesedays, they run 24/7, and when they fail, they fail hard with all your food, water, ice etc.. I really just want to find a reliable unit, I will report back in years to come!

Product faulty from Day 1 but the customer service is what lets them down – Purchased from Bing Lee. It arrived and was installed. The water on the front door would not switch off straight away when you pulled your glass away so you end up with water all over the floor. So called it in. A technician arrived and advised a replacement part was required. That is where it all fell apart. No contact from Fisher and Paykel for… Read more

3 weeks. So I followed up and they said sorry still no part available. I asked that they call me back within a week with an update. No return call so I followed up again. They advised the technician had the part but they would call me back the next day with an appointment. No return call. I followed up again and they said it had been handed over to a Seniors customer service agent. Why? The technician had the part? When speaking to the senior customer service agent I had to leave the call and asked for a return call. No return call. I then get an email saying the technician will arrive at a time I am not available. Just phoned again to reschedule and yes they will call me back. I don't know if the product is any good. Based on my experience thus far all else works as it should. The customer service however which is what makes or breaks a company in my opinion. Terrible. You can get them on the phone and they do have extended hours hence it is two stars not one. But keeping their word. Massive fail.

Best fridge freezer we’ve ever owned – Our fridge died about a year ago. We wanted to keep some of the features of the old one eg French door style, ice & water dispenser, but didn’t want to spend $4k+ again, given the lifespan of these things seems to be limited to around 5 or 6 years (I know there is probably a statutory warranty claim in there, but who has the time to go through all… Read more

that when you’re without a fridge?).

After looking at all the models available at the time we decided to go for the F&P rf605qnuvx1 - and to date we couldn’t be happier! • The sleek, no handle design really suits our kitchen. • The water dispenser works a treat (and doesn’t stop if someone opens the other door like our old one did). • The ice maker does its job and leaves the cubes in a good size bin inside the freezer drawer. Our previous fridge dispensed ice through the door, but that took up a huge space and jammed pretty regularly. • The bottom right section can be configured as fridge or freezer. The salesman tried to sell this as a flexible space that you could regularly change between the two modes. I guess that’s possible, but once you commit it to being a freezer, it’s hard to swap back to a fridge unless you’ve used up all the frozen food or have somewhere else to store it. We have another freezer so we use the extra space as a full time fridge. And that has been a game changer. The extra three drawers of fridge space with its own temperature control is fantastic for us. The three drawers of freezer on the left side are sufficient to keep the things you need on hand. If you chose to use the lower right as a freezer too, it would be plenty for a family without a second freezer. • The shelving arrangement in the main fridge (including in the doors) give plenty of flexibility to store large and small items. This fridge is about 100mm shallower than our last one, but I think that’s a better arrangement - it’s less intrusive in the kitchen and stuff doesn’t get lost at the back of shelves.

The only downside was the first fridge didn’t work when I got it home (that didn’t bode well for reliability). Harvey Norman swapped it out for another which hasn’t missed a beat.

In summary, we’re very happy with this fridge and have recommended it to others.

Oh, and we negotiated a good deal from HN. The sticker price was around $3500, we paid $2800 including an extended warranty.

Quad doors without handles is the way to go! – Excellent fit and finish! Super simple water hook-up which supplies water to an automatic ice cube supply, and ice cold water through the door, make this fridge ideal for hydration and cocktails! Opting for no exterior handles means the kitchen looks very streamlined, and there's much less to clean. The 538L interior is filled with lots of… Read more

well thought out storage covering every conceivable food type, from fresh to frozen, and the ergonomics are excellent.

Certainly not the cheapest fridge on the market, but definitely a strong contender for your money.

Winner! – It’s been over a year so I can say my piece now on this terrific fridge now. I’m not 100% certain of the model number as I cannot find the sticker on this fridge. Ummm I think that’s my only complaint! Seriously our over achieving cousins over the ditch have done it again. This fridge is perfect for our place! And sigh - I have to say husband… Read more ·  1

was right on this one. I wanted to LG tap door fridge (which I purchased for work office instead) but the design of this one is soo much better.

Design is brilliant. -Doors are light, thin with handles. -Bottom freezer with French doors. If you live in the tropics this is a must for holding cold air. -Ice drawers -I thought I didn’t like. Then I used them. Omg how did I live my life without these ice drawers for the past 40 years??! -Ice maker is auto and stores ice in top ice drawer. That means no massive ice maker taking up door space. Thought I didn’t like that idea- I want the ice to pop out of my dispenser! Hmm. Ok I still do but the ice drawer concept is way better suited to hot climates and large families households where you run out of ice regularly. -Good temp control. -Outside the fridge looks nice. -Inside shelves were ugly at first. Now I like them.

Reliability -So far so good.

Noise -Fridge quiet -Ice maker sounds like it’s dying when it’s busy making ice. Fortunately you won’t hear it often but when you do you think about where your receipt of purchase has been filed! We only notice it when we’ve cleaned the ice maker drawer out and its trying to catch up.

Alarms -Sometimes I don’t close the fridge door properly- easy for the doors to get stuck if you don’t push harder than usual. It alarms so you are aware. I read about this on another review of this fridge before purchasing it so I was aware it was a thing.

This is a great fridge to show off. We bought it on recommendation from two groups of friends who bought the black one and the silver one. No regrets would buy it again. Nice one F& P

Hope this helps.
