FaultCode20 Flapper Heater - Wire broken! The fridge beeps 20 times (exact) when opening the door for this fault, the code is also shown on the diagnostic display (see graphics how to read that one). What I did to repair: Remove the cover at the bottom of the flapper (1 screw), and you see a pair of wires going to the bottom end of the heater… Read more
built into the flapper. Turns you can pull down the heater - pulling it down just a little makes it much easier to disconnect the plug. Once disconnected, I measured resistance of heater as 38ohm. Odd, because other sources (including AI and youtube videos) suggest it should be 15ohm...
Next I remove the cover at the top of the left door - there you can unplug the connector, and access the wire going to the heater. A paper clip slides nicely into the end of the connector (both top and bottom end), and I was able to confirm that one of the wires has an open circuit with my multimeter. Pulling (hard) on that wire reveals where the wire is broken.
I removed the flapper (first remove the spring), and then you can see where the wire comes from: from behind the door seal (see photo). With the wire separated at the break, I pushed some heatshrink over one end, soldered them back together, and moved the heatshrink to cover it up. That fixed it! (fingers crossed this lasts the remaining life of the fridge)
Final comment to Fisher & Paykel: the flimsy thin/poor quality wire is pre-programmed to fail eventually, as it has to make the 90deg move of the flapper every time you open/close the left door.
Exactly as advertised – My first experience with a fridge that provides ice cold water and automatic ice supply, and I'm impressed. We've been using this unit for the last year, without any incident whatsoever. Visually, "The Beast", as it's now know, looks very sharp. From a stainless exterior, to thoughtful touches like the light that comes on over the water… Read more
dispenser in the door is in use, there's simply nothing to dislike.
Engineering throughout is solid, with everything working as described by the marketing people.
The only downside I can honestly point to is the lack of a real drip tray underneath the water dispenser.
Overall, this is is a 5 out of 5.
Poor service – Its terrible. The worst fridge ever purchased.within 6 months replaced with a new fridge and both same problem. (Making a big rattling noice. Very poor cutomer service not willing to replace even within the warranty period.very dissapointed with fisher and paykel.I will never purchase fisher and paykel.so unreliable and poor service. Great Fridge – This fridge is fantastic, It maintains great temperature in all compartments and keeps food fresh. It is very quiet and the stainless steel is easy to clean with warm soapy water. I like the function of being able to lock the water dispenser so my kids can't spill water all over the floor. Overall, we are very happy with this fridge. Show details
Seems good at first but – F&P - looks are good (aesthetically pleasing). Not as big (internal volume) as expect (freezer is very small and fridge will assist a 2-3 size family but if bigger than 4 then get another second fridge). Design fault on the two door catches (lower bottom fridge left and right doors) means that instead of metal or similar clasps being used to… Read more
ensure doors remain 'tight', plastic has been used and as such will AND do break. Cheap parts but not cheap service fee to replace - it can be done with two people about 10 mins per door maximum (save $150 and buy the part via F&P at about $15-20 all up (postage is 75% of the cost!).
Ok so the point of the review.
It is just not a good fridge for the amount of money spent. Look we all know that manufacturers have moved to China where, despite assurances from F&P (and others) mgmt, etc. the QA is just poor. There is enough evidence in all industries on this topic so I'm not going to reference the 1000+ articles on the web where this can be done at your leisure OR the numerous books written first hand on this. I work there, I get involved in QA cases so..
I've had the fridge for near on 5 years. First 2 years were fine, no problems, etc. The little clasps broke but not a deal breaker until I realised that the right hand door did not shut and stay shut UNLESS I held it in place then it closed. So over time the doors both lost that initial 'whoosh suck pressure close'. Not a real drama as I say.
The internal volume of the freezer is not as big as I thought it should be.
The ice making ability is shoddy. It does work and ice is thee but if not using it constantly then forget about having nice clean not stuck together ice. Within 1.5 weeks it is clumped and you will need an ice pick / fork or similar to break it apart. Pity F&P have not design the ice to come out of the door - it may mean a change to design but I know it would be better form and function.
Water dispersion - hit and miss. It works (ok it is not cool but never supposed) most of the time. BUT when it fails I do not know why. I change the filter and check the water tap to ensure water flow is still working. There is ZERO ability to fix the water not flowing - AND then somehow MAGIC HAPPENS and the water starts flowing as previous.
Water flow is poor and right now I'm being told I need to have a new door to fix the water problem.
Internal fridge size is ok. The bins (for fruits / lettuce / greens) are ok, however the plastic liner on the top is flimsy and the plastic clasps are useless. Read this to mean that freshness, etc. is less than what the manual implies / states.
clean - use WD40 on the external to keep the appearance of the SS shiney
Would I buy it again? No. Would I buy a Samsung, LG, Whirlpool - NO. Same reasons.
Freezer Drawer Catch Breaks, otherwise OK – This product works fine. We have the usual issues of water not being cold, but just add ice if you want it colder. Need to open both doors in order to access crisper drawers. Bottom deli drawer doesn't open very far. However, our main problem has been the little (too little!) catch at the back of the main freezer drawer, which is supposed to… Read more
pull the top drawers out when you open the freezer. The catch broke after 2 months of use, and again 2 months after that. Quite annoying as it's a design fault - it's a tiny tab poking up and there's no way it's going to pull two full drawers out day after day - there must be 8kg or so in them when full! (Including ice) I guess I'll keep getting it replaced under warranty and then kick up a fuss when they try to decline the repair.
On take two - love this fridge – The first fridge we got delivered (an older model) was DOA. Service was frustrating as we had to wait a week for a service person to come and tell us what we already knew (it was DOA) then another few days for the replacement. Good news was that the replacement was the newer (more eco-friendly) model. - Temperature control: great. But water from… Read more
dispenser doesn't get very cold. OK since we have the ice.
- Noise: quiet, apart from the occasional muffled sound of ice dropping.
- Ease of cleaning: don't know yet, looks OK.
I initially had my heart set on getting a fridge with ice dispenser in the door, but husband convinced me to forgo this in order to save fridge space, less moving parts to go wrong, and because we like the streamline, square-edge shape of F&P fridges. However, now I have it, I love the F&P ice maker. The container of ice is always ready and waiting for us, and stores more than a dispenser can. Mostly we chose this fridge for its looks - but not disappointed with any aspect.
Amazing fridge – This fridge is the best fridge I have ever owned. It is quiet and has a very spacious fridge compartment. The two door fridge compartment is great as you can just open the side you need. The freezer has good sliding roomy compartments. The water dispenser is so cool. My daughter drinks so much more water now :-) The ice maker is quiet and… Read more
convenient. It is great to always have ice on hand not just for drinks but for my when daughter falls over (which happens often) and needs an ice pack. I no longer need to use the bag of frozen peas as an ice pack.
I would happily recommend this fridge.
Pretty good – Early days but everything working quite well. What I didn't realise when purchasing this type of fridge is that you cannot just open one side to get into the fruit compartments have to open the two doors, not a biggy and getting used to it. Operates quietly, ice works well, along with water, temperature of water fluctuates to cool to room… Read more
temperature. Easy to clean. Purchased this fridge as was looking for ease of cleaning, space and had to have ice and water. Sacrificed the ice not being on the fridge door and haven't regretted that decision as easy to use, access and stores a lot more ice. The shelf size I had concerns over as thought they could have been deeper but again haven't seen this as a problem however at the moment limited food in fridge. XMAS would be the test. Happy with the purchase so far.
No Cold Water Tepid at Best!!! – Bought the F&P with ICED water but it only is tepid at best. We rang customer service but they were extremely rude stating they have nothing to do with how the store sales people market a product!!! Two weeks later the French door breaks, again rang customer service only to be told it will be two weeks before they can get to us and only on a Thursday between 12-5. My advise is don't buy a F&P as its over priced and very poor quality.
Greatest fridge ever – Perfect temperature throughout. Extremely quiet. Haven't had to clean as yet. Product Review gives me assurance of purchasing the right appliance reading reviews of others. Having come from an ice box in the 50's I have certainly bought a lot of refrigerators over the years this one wins hands down.
Very nice cabinet depth fridge – This is a great fridge with a few caveats. There is a defect in the wiring that causes one of the wires under the last hand hinge to snap rendering the display, ice maker, and water in door useless. Easy fix thou. Also makes ice super slowly. We knew this going in and its not a huge issue.
I mostly love this model except chilled water function – Quiet operation, sufficient space, power consumption acceptable, auto-ice maker is very useful, but the auto-cold water can only get the lowest temperature of 13.5 degrees(I don't think this temp is chilled enough); the size of cold water tank is not stated on the Specification book, FP online CHAT told me it's only 1.2-1.5 litres, that capacity… Read more
is not big enough for a family.
After contacting with HN, they agreed to replace another brands( thanks HN). This time I ordered a "westinghouse 762L Stainless Steel French Door WHE7670SA" , and wish Westinghouse could be a good one. sorry saying byebye to FP

Know better, choose better.
Great family fridge! – After reading a couple of the negative reviews posted here, we almost didn't buy this fridge! We were surprised to read these, as Choice had rated a number of other F&P fridges as "Choice Buys" and F&P fridges were consistently recommended by various stores we had visited in our research phase. Anyway - we are so glad we ignored the few… Read more
negative reviews here and DID buy this fridge. It does everything promised and is SUCH a welcome replacement for our 21 y.o. old 391L Westinghouse. We can finally fit all our food and drinks in the fridge without shoving everything in on top of each other!
The water dispenser works great - and the water is pleasantly chilled. The automatic ice maker is very handy. Vegetables stay fresh and crisp (our old fridge used to freeze the veggies).
We are very happy with the design and layout of the fridge - it's one of the few "large" fridges that is under 90cm deep (think it's only 80cm), so it sits into the rest of the kitchen cabinetry well and doesn't invade into the kitchen floor space as many other models would have.
Having the fridge section at the top means everything we are most often going to the fridge for is at eye level and in easy reach - and the door and shelving are well laid out to give us plenty of space for everything - even with 5 of us (including 2 constantly-foraging teenagers!)
The only (minor) negative for us is that the freezer is a pull-out drawer (with two levels) - and ideally we would have liked to have a door freezer as a door makes it easier to squat down to put stuff away, rather than be leaning over. That said, there is again plenty of space in the freezer for everything - even with the ice cube maker/bucket - and by using the top slide-out freezer drawers for our most commonly needed stuff, we aren't finding this too troublesome.
No hesitation at all in giving this 5 stars - very happy with it!
Not stainless steel – This is not stainless steel will rust! Once the invisible plastic film starts to come away it rusts. Magnet sticks to it when it shouldn't stick if it is stainless steel. The film has come away from around the ice maker and is rusting. The digital display doesn't work now.
No problems in 5 years - then phttt – Very happy with the fridge until Chrismas Day the display went blank and the cold water stopped. Finally found this thread of reviews and found the one reporting an issue with the water due to a broken wire under the cover of the right hand top door hinge. Had a look and wonder of wonders - a broken wire. As an ex electrical engineer the… Read more
components and wiring all look fine - except the wire diameter looks a bit thin and could do with a few more strands. But after 5 years I guess it's not unusual to start seeing wear and tear problems.
Fortunately for me an easy fix.
And thanks to the guy with the original tip - respect.......
Return to sender – Purchased this fridge through a recommended White goods supplier. This fridge is to be classified as landfill which is a shame for such a smart looking fridge. The iced water is at room temperature---not sure why they bothered to plumb it in at all. Both the fridge & freezer settings are set at their lowest setting & its almost what I'd call cold.… Read more
So beware this is not a good purchase. We are sending this fridge back based on it not being fit for purpose---shame I hadn't read these reviews prior to making my purchase.
OMG disaster like no other – I'm very very disappointed with the new F&P RF610ADUSX4 which was bought on 7/12/14 and delivered on 12/12/2014 and broken on the 18/12/2014... There is 15 beeps when I open any compartment. The repair indicator is on.. 4 lights towards the warmer side... We paid 3K and I feel sick now ... I wish I did more research before jumping into buying… Read more
this fridge... I'm deeply disappointed how a company like Fisher & Paykel can produce such low quality products and rip our hard earned cash ... This is unethical business !!
Great customer support – Just bought a house which included this fridge. It's just over a year old. The water dispenser wasn't working - permanently locked. I called Fisher & Paykel support at 10pm on Saturday night (yes that was the time that I finally got around to looking at it.) The customer service was great. They picked up the phone straight away and went… Read more
through troubleshooting with me. Unfortunately we couldn't fix it and I didn't have a receipt. They just asked for the serial number and determined it was under warranty and arranged for someone to come out first thing Monday morning.
Technician arrived on time, determined problem and had the part in the van. Fixed in under 30 minutes under warranty.
Whilst it is not good that the product didn't work seamlessly, I have to say that with that level of customer service it almost doesn't worry me that much.
The fridge looks great and so far all the features are excellent. I wasn't keen initially on the ice bucket (instead of the ice maker in the door which is what we previously had) but now I can understand it is a lot better because we don't loose any fridge/freezer space.
I highly recommend this fridge.
Water dispenser not working – Fridge has been great but now the water dispenser does not work - no power at all to it. Can't seem to get it going and there is nothing in manual. Has this happened to anyone else? Ice dispenser an everything else works fine... Just no power to water dispenser. Please help! Show reply
Loving it!! – Have only had this fridge for 1 month, but so far I love it!! Nice and big, love all the draws in it, everything is very organised in it, with a perfect place for everything. I am loving the ice maker, the draw is always full of ice. I also love the water filter. Looks really nice and has a place for everything One of the draws keeps popping open inside
To balance the bad.... with a good review! – I love this fridge. Picked it mainly due to the fact that the drawer runners actually slide out to enable access to the back of the fruit and veg drawers - most of the other fr/fr I looked out, you couldn't get an iceberg lettuce or a cauli into! Also, due to the door cold water dispenser which doesn't take up 25% of your freezer space! I love the… Read more
4 separate drawers - we have 1 each for salad stuff, cooking veg stuff, cheeses/cold cuts and the last for the kids snacks/fruit. Huge amounts of door space, no major grumps. I don't know that I'd rate their softclose door system - you often have to very definitely close the door purposefully - if you don't get it past a certain point, the door stays open and then it beeps at you. All the components/shelves seem ok, but I've only had it for 6 months. My mum has had the earlier version ADUX3 for 3 years now and loves it too. The only thing that she has had fixed was the door seals that have a magnet attached to hold the door closed - and they did it FOC even tho it was out of warranty. I think the system is bound for failure, so I'd press them hard to reseal it FOC, as it isn't actually the fridge sealing that is failing - but the magnet! I had a Bosch before, and I hated it with a passion - parts broke regularly - really badly designed. I'm a kitchen designer and I'd be happy to recommend this... however, it is different strokes for different folks .... so you have to weigh up the pros and cons for yourself. Great drawers, tiny water delivery system Quite difficult to work out how to get the freezer drawer out in order to clean it... but now I've done it, I'm good next time.

what time so you have to sit and wait for hours and take countless days off work.
I have had 3 days off work just for my fridge! our problem was the water dispenser leaking constantly and water leaking into the kitchen. the technician said each time, "I hope that fixed it" he had no idea what he was doing, F&P then put you onto their warranty people then the warranty people put you back to F&P. They donot care about you, >>> they will take your money and leave you stranded.
.***DONOT BUY***.***DONOT BUY***.***DONOT BUY*** Nothing, the whole experience has been a nightmare the product fails and the customer service is horrendous.
I am very happy with mine. No problems at all. What fridge would you recommend then if not the F&P?
Not impressed – Would not recommend this fridge to anyone. It looked great and the design concept seemed good, but in everyday use the reliability and practicality of this model has proved to be poor at best. I wonder if F & P actually tested the product in 'real world' conditions of continued use prior to launching it - my experience and that of other owners… Read more
suggests they did not.
Both fridge doors must be opened if you want to access either crisper drawer, so a large volume of cool air escapes every time. Bottle rack is not up to the task. Freezer drawer sometimes won't shut completely.
Within 18 months, the fridge door lower hinge cams (plastic) had failed - newly designed parts were
installed under warranty. Within 30 months the LCD panel failed, leaving us without the ability to adjust fridge/freezer temperatures - just as summer was approaching! I believe this may be a fault in the wiring loom in the RH door, but it's out of warranty so I'm dreading the cost of repairing this. We never actually hooked up the water system on ours, so cannot comment on how the water dispenser/icemaker perform.
Overall though, I'm disappointed that we paid so high a price for a fridge that in everyday use is both impractical and unreliable. I would not buy another. design concept expensive, unreliable
I didn't see any French-door fridges where you could access the crisper draw without opening both… Read more (+1 reply)
