That is see definitely not right. Have you checked the manual for possible solutions? Are both of your taps open?

The manual suggests that this should be accompanied by a 3 digit fault code on the display screen. Is there such a code, and if so, what is it?

This is a known fault with the machine. You have to slam the lid every time you use it.

Do all of your washes end with the same result? What cycle are you using? Is it too short? Maybe try using the auto selection.

No... Does full cycle. I do believe that maybe the machine is not completely draining. So I've just bought a new machine... $1350 later! But I will investigate it further... Maybe something like a sock has gone down into the guts og the machine.. I've run the machine in Prince only as well. Same result. And on hot wash... The water isn't hot in machine... Hot from tap... So a few gremlins there

Hi mark. The imbalance is a very common problem for this model.(one repairer says he repairs one f n p every day) .This model is a lemon and should be on recall. Changing the suspension rods, at $300 , is supposed to fix it but has not fixed mine. Repairer is coming again on thurs so see if he can fix this rubbish model. Good luck with yours, which sounds like a water pump or drainage problem. Good luck.

I have this model also. Bought in Aug 2013 and in July 2016, one month before the warranty ran out I had suspension replaced due to a recall. Mine is not working again as was constantly having Bal on the screen but last Sunday it blew the electrical and nothing on the screen at all. I've just received the quote to fix suspension and electrical $668 plus paid a call out fee $110 just to diagnose the issues plus $35 for every 15mins thereafter so I've paid $140. The guy said if I'd called him before the electrical went would've saved me a lot...new washing machine tomorrow I think.

OOB can also be caused by blocked bowl perforations.

Try using manual water level, sometimes auto does not work due to the density of the materials and fabric.

The support springs for the bowl need replacing. Unless you are a competent handyman you will need a washing machine repair person.

one or more of the suspension rods have failed. If it under warranty then get F&P out to fix; if not then either look into fixing yourself (lots of videos on youtube) or call a repairer (won't be cheap) or buy another non F&P machine....

Press <Power On> button, then press <Wash Advance> until the Spin light is the only one lit, then press <Start>. The machine will try to pump out the water then eventually start the spin. To everyone's annoyance you can't just start spin immediately like the old mechanical dial washers.

I don't think that SMB2 advice to your question is at all accurate possibly talking about another model ? Either way on this model simply power on then choose quick spin if it doesn't already then on far right push button that has 'wash' 'rinse' 'spin' lit up .. first press will cut out the wash part and start from rinse then spin . PressTWICE and that cuts out wash and rinse cycle and will start from SPIN .. You will notice time of cycle reduce from say 50min to 28mins then Spin only is around 11mins ..

drain will start automatically first so if the drain pump is broken your machine will never go onto trying to do Spin part..( well most have inbuilt safety that won't allow it to try to high spin a drum that's heavy and full with water )

So if your machine won't spin but washes etc then it's the drain pump not working If it tries to spin but goes off balance and cuts out stops and beeps at you to help it by making sure washing isn't balled up on 1 side But no matter how u try to evenly spread washing ( ok in the 80's maybe but YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO EVER DO THIS MANUALLY ON THESE MACHINES!) If they are working correctly they are designed and program to automatically adjust load to achieve center of balance and Spin on the spot fast..!

If your machine always beeps unbal or full error and won't spin dry and finish cycle then welcome to the "Fisher n Paykels biggest design fault problem that has been know about for years yet no recall and consumer bears additional cost to replace cheaply made and failure rates within 3 years the expected norm not the exception... Hands up anyone who owns a FnP top loader that develops unbal issues after cpl years annoying at first the you have either upgraded to "bigger volume" machine because you've been naughty and overloading your washer a sneaky extra .5 regularly which is why it broke so soon !! Geez make sure you weigh washing first and if you only have a 7.5kg machine never ever exceed that or u break it quicker!! Not company's fault if it dosent last long time ! Just chuck it away and buy a new bigger one and if last 1 was 8.5kg n broken quick then this time buy 9kg much better but maybe you need the 10kg ? Lol Ok I've tangented off on a sarcastic rant but hey I answered your question simply waaay back at start so stop there and read no further or read rant at own risk ... !! RANT OVER lol

If you run an empty 'cleaning' wash and it's still unbalanced then one or more of the suspension rods may have failed and best to call F&P for service. Otherwise something amongst the clothes is holding water or you've got too many clothes in the machine.

If your bowl bounces like a basketball your suspension rods have failed. We charge $295 to replace the suspension rods on this model. external link

I suspect answe number 2 will be highest rate of accuracy to your question... I just hope your on the Gold Coast so those guys can sort out replacing them ... machine will work better than new with the new rods... I recon washingmachinerepairsgoldcoast would be making millions from these replacements alone !!.. good on them too except it's Fisher Paykel who should be paying them not the end consumer as it's a know design fault issue and why have they not had a Class Action Lawsuit already!? Oh we roll over and cop it quiet here down under rather than make a fuss and call out this systemised Corporate designed system to milk consumers of as much money as possibly by knowingly selling products that are designed to fail ,cheaper to replace than repair spending billions less buy having sales and marketing trick you into believing your getting top brand quality for mediocre price.. ! Same looks as top quality product yet fraction of price....haha is it obvious that I own this model machine and have just found out its useless , as it's just out of manufacture warranty and I am 2nd own since store bought which means even standard manufacturers warranty period hadn't expired I'm not entitled to insist manufacturer must cover cost to repair any issue that's cause from them cutting corners and using low quality parts that will work long enough to not get us too suspicious ... corporate greed .... F n P were well designed quality made products when designed and made in Nz and Australia.. downhill ever since Chinese company buy out surviving now on reputation and simple strong designs from 3 decades ago...

Have you checked the in hose filter in the hose connected to either the tap end of the machine end isn't blocked? If blocked then clean or replace.... If you connect the cold hose to the hot inlet will the machine let the water in? if yes then its the either the hot hose or tap if faulty, if not then it'll be the hot inlet solenoid for which you'll need to call for service/repair or just wash in cold water...

Hi, yes we’ve checked the filter and is not blocked and same thing happens with the cold hose when I switch them. Looks like it is a call to F&P. Thank you for your help SMB2

Or save yourself time n money just buy the new inlet valve from ebay and install yourself it's a few screws and a 10min easy replacement .. google for video tutorial . Here is a link for what u need from ebay otherwise plenty of places sell them but vary greatly in price

Power off, count to 10 slowly, power on, select quick wash and then spin then start. If that doesn't work and still in warranty then call for a warranty repair otherwise try the steps again or call a repairer.

Classic sign the suspension rods have failed have seen a few of these now where they say too full and it’s the suspension rods causing it. external link 

Another one bites the dust.... 2nd answer is the brutal truth... sooner u replace rods sooner you will have your awesome washer back .... just do it

Sounds like the incoming hot water solenoid has failed. You'll need to call for repair unless you want to have a go at fixing yourself (there's info on youtube/internet). If its still in warranty then follow that path...

Its heavy and bulky enough you need 2 people to lift if; its meant for a standard laundry room. Its not a portable washer; its a large family washer so its heavy and big.
