I've been using FlipTV NBN 50Mb/s FTTN for 7 years, and it's been cheap and stable (can recommend). friendly 11-minute phone call, including waiting on hold. Both the tech and sales people were knowledgeable and helpful. The price is great, and they've arranged for the NBN people to come and connect the fibre to my property. Given we all wind up on NBN, the difference between providers is price and quality of service. FlipTV prices are competitive, and their service has been excellent. I thoroughly recommend them!
I was very frustrated as I had a new modem and couldn't make it connect to the NBN HFC box on my wall. I have connected NBN fibre modems previously without difficulty. On my NBN25 plan, Speedtest.net continues to tell me my speeds are 26or27/8or9Mbps, too.

Not only taking more than 5 days to get the connection working and denying that it was them that was having connection problems. ISPs. Regardless of picking a 500/50 plan on HFC and still getting upwards of 450mbs download on average peak times, the ping is absolutely atrocious. Anything lower than 200mbs download and a standard website wouldn't even be able to load without triggering an internet connection timeout.
I also found that repeatedly around each billing period the speed would throttle to absolutely nothing for a couple of days until the bill was paid, then miraculously the speed would go back to normal afterwards. Despite being on direct debit.
As an example of the horrible service you can expect to have; I would load up a Youtube video and the first few seconds would load fine, then the video would stop and buffer and buffer and buffer. Youtube would then downgrade the resolution settings to 480p and then the video would play after some time and struggle to even keep up. Sometimes outright refusing to play at all after waiting 10 minutes. Expect much the same on streaming on a smart TV, mine is hard wired into my modem using ethernet and even that was giving me unwatchable pixilated garbage. I would end up switching to hot spotting my mobile data on 4G and getting faster load times.
I suspect the plan is designed for a large household that doesn't pay attention to usage, to use the excuse of multiple people using the connection to legitamise providing a horrible connection. Since I've got no one else competing for bandwidth and the service has been worse than a dial up internet, it seems pretty transparent.
Flip is also another ISP that says it's providing a month by month service but has essentially a contract break fee. If you churn and burn (switch to another ISP without giving them 30 days notice) aka break contract, they'll still charge you for another whole month, regardless of not providing you with any service once you've switched. Flip also don't pro-rata, so even if you give them the 30 day notice before your next bill is paid, they won't charge you less for your last bill period, so you can switch sooner. Which just means Flip, you're burning your bridges with customers that regularly rotate between ISPs such as myself by providing a bad end point customer experience. I regret not leaving immediately inside the 14 day satisfaction guarantee period.

exhaustingly long recording of options. I was informed there were 5 calls in line before me, so I opted to be called back. Within 5 minutes, I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Wasif. He was polite, kind, calm and easy to understand, which was a pleasant change from Dodo. And he told me my WiFi, which I signed up for last night (a Sunday) was all set up; that there was nothing further I needed to do! It was that simple! He told me I have a 2 week grace period to see if I like the Flip service, and if not, I can cancel with nothing to pay. I assured him that won't happen. Thank you so much, Wasif, you were so lovely to talk to. And thank you Flip. I'll be recommending you to all my friends and family. It only takes a moment to be kind and keep a customer (like Wasif), or a moment to be rude and lose one (like other companies' customer service representitives)
It appeared that I was not receiving the full 500 mbps downloads when doing speed testing on my wifi connected devices. Flip staff immediately sorted out my modem, a Telstra LH 1000, and migrated all my devices to the 5G band. However we were still not getting 500mbps on the wifi divices. During this time Flip staff were outstanding, supportive, understanding and knowledgeable.
In the end I purchased a usb to rj45 adapter. Lo and behold I was getting over 500mbps at both the router and the Telstra modem. Following further analysis and discussion with Flip staff I was advised that given the number of wireless devices on my network I didn’t have to worry about purchasing a newer modem as mine was doing a great job. Good news as there was $200 I didn’t need to spend.
In conclusion I can always say that I have never regretted switching to Flip.
