Would not recommend these clowns to my worst enemy! Poor customer service and zero after-sales assistance. Problems from the start with a brand new installation at our home - damaged the system themselves at installation in 2023, then charged me to come out to assess the issue less than a year later, even though it was still under warranty. it's leaking again and they want to charge me $350 just for callout and inspection - I told them the error code but she didn't know what it meant, although another contractor called to say the error implied a leak, so would probably need re-gassing....again....

Poor communication!! I submitted two online service requests with no response for 20days. When I call them directly, I was given multiple excuses before a service is booked. The long delay and excuses from multiple staff members made this a frustrating experience !

The worst company that I have ever dealt with. I had a fault with my AC system, the incompetent technician misdiagnosed the fault, he replaced the compressor & associated I/O board to no avail. F&D would not send anyone else out until I paid the cost of the incorrect diagnoses in full. As I was already invested I mistakenly did that under duress.… Read more

As I work with technical things I was able to prove to them that they misdiagnosed the fault, however they shirk any accountability. A second technician subsequently visited my home & replaced the correct offending part. The whole job cost me $6k & should have cost approximately $2K. I would recommend people stay clear of them & their rapacious practices. In addition, they are indirectly ripping off insurance companies by lying on there reports, contributing to increasing premiums. If they (& possibly others) were to be investigated, their predatory practices would be very easily exposed.

easy to communicate with and we’re so relieved for the professionalism and reliability. Everything was easy to understand for me and my grandparents, and happened punctually. Would absolutely choose them again for any aircon servicing. Our aircon is now working and we’re looking forward to a nice cool summer!

Bad installation and customer care – Installation was to main bed, Daiken reverse cycle. Hardware was excellent but not so installation. Installed before winter so heat only used. As summer temps increased unit used for cooling. After 3 weeks a stain appesred in ceiling of living area below unit mounted sbove. Called F and D but dur xmas no positive response. roof and found batts soaked with water. Firther indspection by myself i found the vondensation overflow pipe installed UNDER roof tiles and NOT into gutter. I re installed overflow pipe to exit over roof tiles. This cured water ingress. After xmas re contacted F and D but basically they couldnt care less snd no follow ip. Ceiling repaired and repainted at my cost. DO NOT use this company, Shoddy installation, no checks by installer, no follow up customer care. Go elsewhere they dont deserve your business.

twisted my arm to service both units.

Not even 2 months later, on first use of the air conditioner (now the summer has arrived), the noise is still there. I called to request a repair warranty call out, but no, no such thing. I need to pay $300 (something) for the honour!

This certainly does not sit well with me. I question if this is fair.

legally responsible for ensuring an air conditioner is compliant with noise regulations in its installed location. Ford & Doonan put a high-decibel condenser unit directly outside a neighbour’s bedroom window. We ended up with a formal noise complaint, and when challenged, Ford & Doonan basically said: “It might be the law, but that’s not the reality.” Their position was that nothing would happen unless we took them to court.

They knew it was their legal duty, but they refused to act. In the end it was Summit Homes — not Ford & Doonan — who stepped up, took responsibility, and paid to have the unit removed and relocated so it complied with the law. If they didnt it would have cost me over $2k to have it moved my self.

The on-site trades were fine, but Ford & Doonan’s management and admin are among the worst I’ve dealt with: dismissive, evasive, and only interested in protecting themselves once they’ve taken your money.

If you want a compliant install and a company that stands behind its work, avoid Ford & Doonan at all costs.

 Follow-up  · Well ford and Doonan went on a review site and flat out lied about what happened. They said things they never said to me at all. Jack just serviced our air conditioning and I'm very happy with his service. Very friendly and knowledgeable, I also now know how to optimise my system as well as having it ready for the summer. Will be making this a yearly occurrence to get the most out of my system. When I called up to verify the appointment, the lady was very helpful and understanding. Later, when we had another firm look at the system not working on our second floor they found that Ford & Doonan had simply left a duct unconnected to the outlet and so the air conditioner was just pumping cold air into our roof space. Our recommendation is to avoid Ford & Doonan like the [Content Removed]!

I'm tired of seeing TV advertisements claiming Ford and Doonan being a reputable Air Conditioning Company. In our experience, they leave a lot to be desired and are just Franchised Agents of a name. They serviced our Reverse Cycler unit giving it a clean bill of health. Stuff happens, but 2 weeks later the compressor failed. Their replacement… Read more

costs was much higher than a competitors, and it cost us even more to have them confirm their own technicians diagnosis. I'm afraid we wouldn't consider using them again, and even the technician they sent was only recently hired who told us his background wasn't in Domestic Systems. We recommend get competative quotes from others in any case.

Booked a service for today 30/01/26. Technician is supposed to call 30 min prior to advise they on their way. I needed to take my daughter to the dr and hadn’t received a call so I decided to go as it would only be a quick visit. As I was leaving the technician arrived unannounced. I told him this and he said he tried calling but my Optus number… Read more

was saying disconnected. That is a lie as my number is not disconnected and I am with Telstra not Optus.

Technician said he’d go to his next job and come back so in about an hour time. I agreed. I was gone 35 min and was home for the rest of the day and the technician did not show up. Tried calling the kardinya office but no one answers, just some virtual rubbish that takes a message and no one calls back.

Worst service award goes to ford and doonan. Don’t waste your time with this mob. Happy to take your money then their after service is cr#p and non existent.

Do NOT recommend! Booked in for a scheduled service between 9–12pm. No one showed up or contacted me so I rang to cancel as I had to leave. They charged me the $130 for cancelling within 24 hours. calls around this time which would indicate he was at my door. 1:30pm is not during the scheduled time of 9-12pm. After emails and phone calls, which they are slow to reply to, they are trying to gaslight me into thinking that the technician was on my premises between the scheduled time which is a complete lie. I have asked for proof that he was at my house between 9-12pm which they won’t and can’t provide because they are lying. Just because they have a large marketing budget does not mean they are a good company.

Had a new split system installed. Assessment for the job and quoting done over the phone by a technician / salesman. Unfortunately, the cooling unit was WAY too big for the intended location and this wasn't picked-up in the assessment. The field team weren't interested in changing the job and unfortunately, we let them keep working. The spot for… Read more

the unit was not suitable and blocked a bedroom window from being opened. Will acknowledge F & D did the assessment and the work pretty quick, so credit due there.

After about 3 weeks of trying to get the improperly located unit changed, it then took another half day of work and another $2.5k to have the unit moved to a more suitable location.

On this second job the boys were disorganised and it was clear the job hadn't been scoped properly by head office.

Quite disappointed that F&D didn't recognize the mistake in the original job, no apologies, massive effort to get them back and effectively pay for a second install, no offer of discount for the rectification work. $7.5K to get 1 A/C unit installed. Going to be a lean winter.

Used F&D to do annual servicing on our ducted aircon unit, we were happy at the time until we had a leak from the unit into our ceiling and had an inspector from our home insurance have a look. With how clogged our drain was it was clear that F&D had never cleaned it. Their incompetent and lazy services have directly led to water damage in our ceiling. Never using F&D again and recommending that they be avoided.

Bad service – I contacted Ford and Doonan on 2nd Feb 2025, was emailed a response, we'll contact you in 48 to 72hrs. It's now 17th of Feb and still no contact. I guess they really don't want business. A good indication of the service you'd probably receive.

ABSOLUTE HORROR CONSUMER BEWARE – Just over 2 years ago Ford and Doonan Midland installed a Daikin ducted reverse cycle system in our house comprising of two outdoor units, the cost was over $21000. Ford and Doonan were also contracted to remove the old evaporative system. Approximately 3 months after installation we turned on a tap in our backyard to find water pouring from the… Read more

ceiling in our living room. The ceiling collapsed causing extensive damage to the carpet and furniture. In our distress we contacted our insurance company who fixed the damage. At the time it wasn’t obvious to us that it was Ford and Doonan’s work that caused the flooding. When the licensed plumber arrived, he was mortified to find that the copper pipe from the old evaporative system was sealed with silicon and not professionally capped (see photos attached). Only then did we become aware that Ford and Doonan were responsible. We didn’t take any action as we were very busy and the insurance company provided all the contractors required to make all repairs, Ford and Doonan is not a construction company. The experience left doubt in our mind of whether a licensed plumber was used in the removal of the evaporative system. We thought that was the end of our problems…… Just before Christmas 2024, just over 2 years after installation, one of the units stopped cooling showing a UO error which means low refrigerant. We immediately contacted an independent installer to provide a report on the problem and the installation. The installer said that Ford and Doonan had used a defective brand of Pair Coil (copper pipe) and basically, it’s leaking refrigerant. The installer also said that he was aware of the problem and stopped using the brand a long time ago. The report also stated that the system wasn’t installed to the manufacturer’s specifications. Some issues noted in the report include excessive duct run length, excessive fan coil lean, brass flares not insulated. The report also noted that the installation appears to have been rushed. The repair cost is estimated at just below $2000. I rang Ford and Doonan Midland and spoke to a lady who then handed me over to the store manager. The manager answered the phone with the words “ah are you another copper pipe victim.” He asked me to send him the report and I did. He responded that he is willing to send someone to repair the defective installation, but the defective copper pipe is a manufacturing defect; and the installation warranty is 2 years. We were a few months over. I sent the manager a letter stating my opinion that Ford and Doonan at least should have known about the defective copper pipe brand; and requested full repair of the system. I also asked the manager to provide the name of the licensed plumber who removed the old system. I asked for a response within 5 days, or I would be forced to find another contractor to repair the unit and take further action.

The manager acknowledged the receipt of my letter but failed to officially respond.

Upfront payment for terrible quality they wont fix – They promised to deliver a certain product and then failed to do so. When we contacted them about it, the girl pretty much said well too bad we're not changing it. I was so upset, i pleaded for them to assist but they honestly didnt care.
