the site. I was contacted by phone later that day and told that the parts required were a little more expensive than expected and an invoice was emailed on 16/12. It is outlined as follows. Fan motor X2. Main PCB X1. Labour to install X1. Capacity adaptor X1. It came to a total $4598.12 and it requested payment in full before parts were to be ordered which we paid in full via direct debit. Company sourced parts and a technician and apprentice returned 24/12 much to our relief because of the time of year and summer heat. Over the Christmas break I had time to sit back and evaluate works done for a total cost of $4598.12, the cost of the job did not seem right. I finally did my due diligence and believe me I am now very disappointed with myself and the complete faith and trust I allowed. Reviewing the invoice and thinking why is this not like a car service document which outlines everything done to and sourced to do the service ? Labour per task and total parts required and their cost per unit. The reason will soon become obvious unfortunately. I went online and sourced the exact unit model number and spare parts which gave me an approximate cost. With that information I was able to call the manufacturers head office and ask them directly for parts cost: Approximate prices of the fan motors $215 per unit and the PCB $1100. (capacity adapter is $10). Total approximate cost. $1540.00 I contacted the business via telephone and went in person to speak to the Business Service Department Manager and later I received a more detailed document which stated the following cost: Labour: $550.00 Parts: $4048.12 Shock, anger and extreme disappointment followed, and I returned several times to further discuss and understand why THREE very basic parts could be charged at $4048.12 Remember that the parts cost approximately: $1540.00 I was told that this is standard Industry practice.$2508.12 Standard Industry markup is approximately. 162% There is mission statement on their office wall “ TRUTH” is one of the points. Several methods of contact have followed, and this business has stated they have given me plenty of opportunities to express my case and offered a token reimbursement to finalise this matter which I have declined. I advised them that I would give the business the courtesy of a preview of what I will post as a review on their site regarding our very poor and disappointing service and repair experience!

Cooler and heater service – We hired Plum to service our cooling and heating units this year due to the raving reviews on the internet. find this straight after a service. We called the team who were able to have the technician come back in the same afternoon and he reset the system which fixed it. However the same issue occurred the next two hot days. We called again and the same technician came back again explaining he’s now found out that the damper motor was intermittently failing and that needed replacement. He explained in detail the issue and the next steps for us. He was helpful and polite throughout. We then had to communicate with the head office to settle the issue, which we did, after two phone calls from them. The manager was helpful and sincere in the negotiation. Another two technicians have since come by to replace the part. Thank you to everyone we have dealt with at Plum.

New Ducted Heater and New Evaporative Cooler changeover – Contacted Plum Heating & Cooling to have a look at evap cooler as system was not working properly and asked to service heater while they were out. cooler and heater were 15 years old so were getting on. As filters were also past there time plus repairs on evaporative cooler we decided it may not be worth putting further money into old unit and to go ahead with changeover units. We had noticed our gas bills were also very high this year. The Technician suggested some models and was not pushing the most expensive. As our ducted vents were in still good condition suggested units 4 Star SP435 ducted heater and L76 Evap cooler as we have a large home. As we had no servo seals on old evap unit that would allow drafts in the home & a 3 star ducted heater we were looking for better value, energy consumption and functions of units. Proceeding to installation the guys attended on the day and did a great job. Everything was neat, evap drain pipe all tied down, they cleaned up all there mess and explained everything they did during the process. Any questions I asked were answered. I was impressed with the lift they had to raise the heater towards the roof for them to then grab it and walk it up. It shows the company considers their staffs safety with installation. I would not hesitate to recommend this company for any service, repairs or installation you will not be disappointed.

my moving day. However, on the very day of the move, I was informed that the electrician assigned to the job had fallen ill and there was no backup available. This was a huge inconvenience, as I had to vacate the old house that same day, leaving me stranded without a solution.

While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can happen, I expected a company with such a solid reputation to have contingency plans for emergencies like this. Their lack of preparation and communication during such a critical time was incredibly disappointing.

Plum Heating and Cooling may excel in some areas, but my experience with this situation has made me wary of relying on them for time-sensitive tasks.

Worst experience I have ever had with a company providing service! – I love all these lovely reviews, I was left dumbfounded by the service I received from this company. They attended and proceeded to pull the sides off my evaporative cooling and just said you need new cooling pads and left. in place and was quoted approximately four times the retail price for new pads. I won't even bother mentioning the labour quote. I sourced the pads and cleaned out the tank myself removing the scale etc.... ensure the float valve was working, replaced the pads and sides with what clips I had left and it worked fine. I was contacted by one of the guys that attended who asked me to edit my first review and he would make things right. He came over to his credit and gave me some replacement clips for the plastic covers.

After 3 quotes, Plum heating and Cooling was the last company i had come in. I found Them to be fair on price and very informative. They installed the unit a few days later and the guys that came where fantastic, completed the work in a short period of time and done a great job. Arrived in the timeframe quoted and phone call prior to arrival. Found what the issue was with our three year old split system. Suggested we contact builder to rectify the problem initially Before going ahead with Plum. Show reply
