I purchased a JBL speaker from Frugo nz and it was blatantly counterfeit. No serial code, the JBL exclamation logos were upside down, the box it came in was blank without a JBL logo on it and the sound quality is trash. The same speakers sell on Ali Express for $40 Buy at your own risk. This company is a scam.

Dreadful – I bought a JBL Flip 5 speaker but when it came it was a Fake. I have contacted Fruugo numerous times with photographic and video evidence to prove this but I'm getting nowhere. The retailer involved is Wuhan Junbao Technology. Who knows if they ever had the product in the first place? Maybe they never intended to send it, maybe they simply hold customers’ money for weeks and then return it later. Whatever the reason, this behaviour is unacceptable.
Fruugo presents itself as “a global online marketplace connecting millions of shoppers with retailers worldwide,” but with that responsibility comes the duty to carefully vet who they allow to trade under their name. With so many online scams happening, Fruugo should be far more careful about which companies they promote and take commission from.
To make matters worse, Fruugo is practically impossible to contact. There is no clear email, no real customer service link, and the FAQ pages just loop you in circles without any way to reach a human. As a consumer, this feels like complete disregard and lack of accountability.
This was my first experience with Fruugo, and it will definitely be my last. Customers deserve honesty, transparency, and respect — not wasted time, stress, and money tied up for a month with nothing to show for it. Never again.

it was a decorative item only- not at all as they advertised it. I paid $50,which included shipping. I could have gotten this for $5 max at a dollar store. communicating with the seller seemed very difficult. There seemed to be some ‘logic loops’ that prevent you from raising a query. Even finding out where the item is coming from is difficult before purchasing.
Ultimately the seller would not accept a return, even being unopened and with me paying freight and suggested that I try to on-sell it to somebody else. They offered a partial refund which has not arrived yet.
I suggest steering clear of the Fruugo website unless you know exactly what you are ordering and have ordered it before.

found my item by chance. Lucky it wasn’t fragile. Hey maybe the courier was untrained or under pressure and cut corners. But in a competitive market space like that … it’s risky. I didn’t like the AI bot much, all it did was point to the delivery marked as being delivered and “problem solved!” Which was annoying as at that stage I hadn’t found the package that was tossed over the fence. They were responsive when I raised a dispute. Will give them another chance, they did have an item that was hard to find elsewhere, and at a good price.
