Probably too late now - company in administration! – Ordered outdoor cushions based on dimensions that fit our furniture and second choice of available colours on 20 February. Placed order based on website availability, after accepting our order they contacted us saying the items were no longer in stock but they had different cushions which were the same size just a different colour and design. … Read more

We stupidly trusted them and accepted the alternative.

Took several weeks to arrive and when they did arrive the cushions were too small for our furniture. Tried to contact via email several times with no reply.

Doing some searches on the internet for a phone number to ring this morning and found out the company entered administration and is in insolvency as of 28 February.

See ASIC site for details of appointment of administrator and contact details: https://insolvencynotices.asic.gov.au/browsesearch-notices/notice-details/The-Walnut-Group-Pty-Ltd-605846197/7485d303-b353-4b48-93e8-39817096c3f9

Exceptional Service – I purchase my kids beds and mattress from Furnish.com.au, i was a little concerned with some of the negative feedback accumulated by past management, however i found Furnish to be very helpful and professional, with exceptional customer service. Exactly what I wanted, don't get what all the fuss is about – Okay, so it's obvious the old Furnish.com.au went into receivership and stuffed a few people over. The new domain owners are running a serious business and they performed as well as I'd expect any online furniture seller to perform. They answered my emails quick enough (had 3 emails sent with replies over a day), were willing to let me come and… Read more

see the wholesaler's warehouse so I could try out a sofa bed before purchase, and upon payment, I received my sofa the next day, as I was promised. So basically they did everything I requested, had a common sense and practical approach to customer service, and were.. you know.. normal. After meeting a few of the team in person, it became obvious that the older reviews really aren't about the same operation. It's a new company, just with the same domain name.

Jason was very helpful and gave me a business card, showing he was still eager to be contacted even after the sale was complete, and the sofabed I purchased is exactly what I wanted.. maybe even a little better.

Would I recommend them? Yep, yep I would. I mean, they're not AMAZING, but they're what you'd expect/hope for, and the service was practical and prompt.

Don't do it – Purchased an item that was advertised as available. After a week they advised it was not in stock. After suggesting other items that I could buy (twice the price of what I wanted to buy) they said they would process a refund. Still waiting 2 weeks later - when I chased them they said they were busy.....

cushion order – placed an order to buy couple of cushions, which were between $30-$40 but when reached checkout it was $100 delivery!!!!!!! I do happen to reside in Australia. I also sent emails to no avail quering why delivery was so expensive, but no response. I can imagine what you consumers are going through, at least my order was never placed, or could have finished up with a disaster on item.

Do not buy from them – I am from Sydney, bought a click clack sofa for $407 including shipping on 8th May and I have to wait up to the end of July which I knew after buying it. They never reply your mail, don't pick up phone in a word customer service is as bad as hell. I wanted a refund but no one get back to me. I don't know if my product will arrive eventually; if not I am going to officially complain about them to fare trading.

Stay away – Shocked that such shonky companies like this exist in Australia. Their phones go unanswered or disconnected, emails go unreplied to, customers left in the dark in regards to orders. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The girl we did get on the phone lied to us. When you order, no confirmation email is sent to let you know the status of your order. How do they manage to stay in business??? – Saw a discounted buffet online (which I had previously viewed at the Cranbourne store) and orderered it on the 20/11 via their 1300 (sales) number. split in the wood on the other door and the top drawer on the left of the unit was jammed in on an angle (the top of the drawer was pushed right in leaving the bottom of the drawer jutting out at a ridiculous angle. I told the delivery guys that I would not accept delivery of the damaged unit and after calling the warehouse manager, they agreed to take it back to the warehouse. I called the 1300 number immediately, informed them of the issue and was promised a call back Monday. No call. So I called them Monday late in the afternoon. After speaking to the person who initially processed my order, I was promised a call back on Wednesday (a replacement is not possible as they are completely out of stock). They also informed me that the manager who authorises refunds would be back the following week. No call back! Am I surprised. Unfortunately, not at all. After reading the reviews, I hesitated before thinking I'll just give them a go. Surely they can't be all that bad. Wished now that I hadn't. I have no buffet and they still have my money. I know I'm being given the run around, but they're wrong if they think they will get away with it. This company and their staff lack integrity and have absolutely no comprehension of the meaning of true customer service. Reputation is everything. Do not buy anything from their stores, no matter how good it looks. You will regret it.

Exploding Toughened Glass, Poor Customer Service – On the search for a TV unit I headed down to Furnish.com where I found a toughened glass unit that I really liked, and it was only $200. Bargain right. Upon getting the unit home I set about assembling the unit. I had all the pieces laid out on the carpet to ensure I had all the necessary parts. Upon lifting the centre glass panel from the… Read more

carpet it simply exploded in my hands. While it was quite a shock, it was extremely lucky that no glass was embedded in my hands causing any serious injury. This was definitely not what I was bargaining for.

My work situation has me out of state often and as it happened I was to fly out that night so in order to deal with this problem swiftly I rang the number on the invoice, which doesn't actually call the Cranbourne store direct.

A man by the name of [name removed] took the call and seemed willing to assist in getting someone from the store to contact me back. I explained my situation (that I would not be contactable by mobile the following day for over a week and that email was preferable) and emailed the photo's through promptly before cleaning the shards out of my carpet.

That was all the contact I had for over a week. I left two email addresses and a WA phone number that I could be contacted on and the times available, but for over a week I had no contact regarding the issue.

When I did return home on the 11th Oct I rang the store to follow this up and The store manager informed me firstly that there was nothing that could be done and that it was probably my fault that glass had exploded in my house, and secondly that some had tried to contact me.

Now I don't like being told that something that was not my fault was my fault, nor do I like being told that after supplying two email address's and an additional phone number to account for my situation, that in this day and age someone had tried to contact me with no avail without so much as leaving a voice mail message.

Back to the glass issue. Toughened glass is formed through a process of heating and cooling the glass during its manufacture to induce internal stresses within the glass to make it more resistant to firm knocks and hits. Theoretically toughened glass is stronger than steel, however the manufacturing process is no where near perfect and during this process small imperfections can be embedded into the glass affecting the internal stresses causing the glass to spontaneously explode.

While this is not common, it does happen. Do a Google search.

I was told that the store manager had discussed the issue with his managers and that there is nothing they can do. When I asked to speak to the company managers I was told that I was unable to call the managers direct and had to email them, which I have done to no avail.

This issue is still ongoing, and poor quality glass is a major safety issue.

***Read this***The worst quality furniture, the worst retail experience of my life and now have refe – In May 2012 I purchased a suite of bedroom furniture for my son's birthday from Furnish.com.au’s store at Auburn. The purchase consisted of a king single bed with storage under, a bed side table, a desk and a sideboard. This furniture was sold as 'Tasmanian Oak' and the main reason for our purchase was to acquire bedroom furniture for our son that… Read more

would last him until his late teenage years. This is why we paid a premium for oak furniture over and above our normal type of purchase from Ikea or other similar flat pack chains.

This order was fulfilled over two deliveries in mid/late June 2012. The first delivery was incomplete (did not include the under bed storage) and also included a damaged bed that we did not sign for and was sent back. The bed and storage was subsequently re-delivered 1 or 2 weeks later. Upon completed delivery we decided to use the furniture in both our children’s bedrooms to avoid clutter.

Over the course of the 12 months that we owned the furniture, the joints were steadily coming apart and the furniture was twisting and becoming un-aligned. It was clear that the furniture was made from Oak veneered chip board instead of the Tasmanian Oak that had been advertised. The jointS were coming apart so much that you could clearly see the chipboard inside.

On Saturday 8th June 2013 we contacted furnish.com.au to advise them of the faulty furniture and request a replacement or refund. I followed their request of emailing in pictures. On Monday 17th June I had not received a reply so called to follow up. I was advised that the email had not been received and to re-send the pictures. This was done on Monday 17th June 2013. Over the course of many emails that week with a lady called [name removed] I was notified in writing on 22nd June that the furniture would be picked up as faulty the following week and be replaced. Accordingly my wife arranged for a day off work, because she is a casual this was unpaid.

This collection never happened. On 27th June, without prior discussion we received another email from [name removed] notifying us that they would not collect the furniture, that our warranty was with the manufacturer and we had to claim from them directly. At this time [name removed] gave me the name of the store manager, [name removed], as someone who I can follow this up with.

I left repeated messages for [name removed], none of which were returned. Finally on 3rd July I used a letter template I found on the ACCC website to lodge a formal complaint with Furnish.com.au, stating the problem and requesting that this problem be rectified within a given timeframe. [name removed] finally called me and agreed to come to my house to inspect the furniture ‘in-situ’. This was arranged for early in the morning (before 8.30) on 9th July. [name removed] didn’t turn up for this appointment (again, more time taken off work unpaid).

At 9am [name removed] texted me to advise that he would not be coming. At this stage, in frustration, I had my wife speak to him to re-arrange another appointment. Subsequently, [name removed] come to our house in the evening of Monday 12th July. [name removed] inspected the furniture in the two rooms that it was in, and confirmed that it was faulty and he would arrange for it to be collected and returned to the manufacturer for fixing or replacing.

The furniture was collected mid week (more time off work unpaid)

On Friday 19th July in the evening I got a call from [name removed] saying the manufacturer had inspected the furniture and concluded that my house suffered from ‘rising damp and excess humidity’ and as such were not going to replace or repair the furniture. When I questioned him on this it turned out that it was not the manufacture that had claimed this but [name removed] manager.

He was very vague about who had seen the furniture and who was telling him to give me this message. He claimed to just be caught in the middle and I should speak to his manager, [name removed]. [name removed] committed to sending me pictures of the furniture inspection and details, in writing, of their position. He also committed to having [name removed] contact me.

By Wednesday 24th July I left a telephone message for [name removed] explaining that I still had no resolution. In return he emailed the name and email address of his manager, [name removed] saying I had to contact him.

At this stage I feel as though I have no other option but to pursue Furnish.com.au. Currently I have paid $2,500 for furniture that has fallen apart within 12 months, had this furniture collected and not returned to me. My complaints have not been taken seriously, I have passed from person to person, my statutory rights as a consumer have not been honored and the furniture did not even meet the marketing description that it was sold under.

Made of veneered chip board, poor quality, did not honour their warranty, did not honour their commitments that they made, have collected the furniture but refuse to refund me.
