My first GHD, I loved it until now! – Ive had my straightener for about 3 yrs and taken extreme care with it! I use is and wipe the plates after each use and only use it once a week! WAS good but now wont work – I thought these were great straighteners until now. I get a flashing light with beeping sounds when I plug them in. They don't heat up either. Looks like this issue is a common fault on the eclipse GHD with the other reviews on this site and on google. I do hope the company stand over this issue with so many being affected and it not being a cheap brand of straightener. I am now left with a product not fit for its stated use :(

Additional information: Update. They offered 15% off a new set as I didnt have proof of purchase. I declined as I expected expensive straighteners to last more than what I got out of them. Ive since bought a $40 pair of Remington straighteners which have been doing great if not even better than the eclipse ones and for a 10th of the price. Very disappointed that GHD arent standing over this issue as it seems to be a common problem with this particular straighteners.

don't straighten my hair a great deal so that was a bummer. I reached out to the company to see about getting it fixed via email but I never heard back and just kept waiting till I completly forgot about it very sad it was the best straightener I owned.

They were great when they worked!! – I love my ghd’s and was devastated when they stopped working. They continually beep and all god would offer me was 20% off a new pair. This is a second pair of ghds ive brought but they appear to break just after 3 years. I love ghds but am very disheartened by the poor workmanship for this premium product.

makes me think that they must still be turning a profit - even at the discounted price. In encountering this problem, I've read a few forums and it is interesting to note that a few contributors say GHD was sold the year the "Eclipse" was launched and I gather it is the first GHD straightener that has non-repairable parts. Another commenter offered that the founder of GHD now has a straightening brand "Cloud 9" which that commenter moved to and deemed higher quality than GHD.

They have a set life span I SWEAR con to up GHD”s sales – I have used GHD”S in my salon for the past 17 years, never had a problem. In fact I still personally own a pair of original mk5, (orange plates) still fully working, in fab condition and get as hot as the day I brought them, I use them at home on my own hair every week. today, in my opinion theres wrtr the best they ever made. I also still have in my mobile Hialr kit, the silver foiled ones, ageing still hot, good working order, pretty good condition and still used today.. I Rate these along side the Brest cancer bright pink ones as second best. Still in good working order and ok condition is the shiny black ones, that came with the hard case, they also did them in white. But these ones were where I noticed they never got as hot as perverse GHD”S. just like the ones I’ve hand down to my 14 yr daughter. Black with the red plates, fine for the street hair, but not hot for salon use. I always argued my case with the GHD REP, but he never would have it, he argued every time that the newest ones where the best yet. Grr

And the he sold me the last ever GHD’s I was going to buy. BAD BUY, had to bulk buy, on more couple of pair to try them. And after 2 or 3 weeks the temperature was gone, old ones were hotter, even sent them back and he returned with them stating they were perfectly fine. 2 pair went for salon use and after just 2 years they started bleeping within weeks of each other. Started to use the 3 rd pair from the stock I originally brought ( people didn’t have the money to waste, sales were very low and still are) the 3rd pair started bleeping after 10 months, I would assume that same hours usages as first 2 pairs (2 pairs to 1 pair) even tho I had used them for only 10 months, my original purchase was 3 years. Out of warranty.

dont waste your money on GHD”S as everyone has the same problem, it is clearly Design fault. Which I think is to increase sales.

Best hair straightener ive owned – Ive had many ghd straighteners in the past and this is my absolute favourite. It straightens with a single run through and make my hair feel so soft and silky! I cant recommend it enough!

Ghd is always my go to! – Straight forward, easy to use. Straightened hair quick enough. Leaves my hair a bit frizzy but. Although I feel they have expiry dates, every 3 years at least I’m always having to get new ones and i believe it isn’t fairly priced. I think it’s time I try another brand something that isn’t going to give up anytime soon!

had to send it off to be replaced. Now luckily I was still under warranty, and a new one could be sent out to me free of charge (even though it took 2 months to get to me - which is a long time for a girl not to be able to style her hair!). What makes this worse is I actually had to send my ellipse ghd back and go through this whole process FOUR times. Maybe I was just unlucky, or maybe it’s just faulty design. Thumbs down for me on the ghd eclipse!

Love this! – Great for all hair types! Easy to use and heats up really fast! Hair stays straight for a long period. Doesn’t damage your hair like other straighteners do! Definitely recommend!

inside of the plate overheated. Now my GHD styler only last for 5 years instead of 10 years (AUS$380/5 = $76/year), so If I go to different brand I can buy the new one every year for the amount of money.

Before I recommend to 7 of my friends about this brand and model, and now I have to reverse it the information to them.

Use it – This is the only hair straightener device I use. I tried some other ones, but you can't beat ghd. It's pricey yes, but you really get what you pay for.

Good for the price – This heats well, makes perfect curls as well as straightens hair. It is relatively cheap in the market of straighteners, and if you get the older models you save quite a bit. Watch out and make sure not to burn yourself tho or put it down on any plastic surfaces.

It’s performance is great but this model is known to just turn off and not turn back on – My sister and I both got this hair straightener mine works perfectly very quick and easy.. Hers doesn’t work it makes 2 beeps and doesn’t heat up.. Do not pull out of wall without turning straightener off and be very careful where you plug it in

The best – The best hair straightener you can get. Expensive but they will last so many years, it's worth the price tag. Don't bother buying a cheper brand, the cost per use in the end will be lower with a gdh

Every girl should own one – I have curly hair and use it to either straighten all of my hair or losen the curl into a wave. It heats up really quickly and doesn't completely dry out your hair.

Leaves my hair looking shiny and new – This straightener is very easy to use, and heats up quite fast. It’s less time consuming as it gets the job done in the first swipe. Results last for days

Overall it straightened my hair well and didn’t damage my hair: it also heated up quite quickly and never snagged my hair. Sadly this one also went into shiver mode though, never to wake again. Seeing as though my GHD curling tong also did this, I’m going to have to take that as a hint to stay clear of GHD’s for a while.

Good products which used to be great products, but either way too expensive for the lifespan. Take the design back to the original, and please sort out that useless shiver mode. I’m going to have to give Remington a go now and see how that works out for me.

ghd is out of warranty but they will give me a 50% discount for a new one. I spent my money expecting quality, no point buying one again for half price to have to spend money again next year.
