Global Knives Ikasu Knife Block Set

So much better than I expected – I've had a Global Chefs knife for about 10 years, but decided to upgrade and get a block set, as I use other size knifes in my kitchen often, and needed a bread knife too. These have exceeded my expectations. I find the smaller cooks knife easier to use for smaller things (or if I'm using a smaller sized chopping board). And having the selection… Read more
available in the block on the bench makes selecting the appropriate knife much easier. Keeping them clean is easy - a simple rinse after use, and then hand wash when I'm washing up after. Wish I'd bought these sooner.
Rusty rubbish – Rust stains appeared on the knives about 2 weeks after purchase. Even with instant drying after washing. I can leave my supermarket cutlery soaking in the sink and they never rust. Kitchenware house not interested and manufacture wont cover rust. I was hoping for better when I saved up for these knives. Show details

Good – I love these knives, they're still my favourite (and most used) wedding present, despite the fact that I ended up having to replace the 20cm cooks knife off my own back because Global won't replace for "misuse" despite guaranteeing the products! If there are two people here complaining about the issue there's likely to be more - I can only hope… Read more
that they've taken the fault on board for subsequent knives and that my new one doesn't meet the same fate. Just don't buy them at retail prices, get them from one of the bulk homewares retailers instead. Although you only really need ONE good knife, this set sure is handy! The stability in the knives when I'm using them is excellent and they feel well balanced in my hand. And I love the fact that they stay sharp, sharper than any other premium knives we've used (and we cook A LOT). I bought one for my Dad for Fathers Day this year and now he's a convert too! To the Guest reviewer below - I had the EXACT same problem, my set was a wedding present, my 20cm knife fell off my board and thankfully missed my feet but snapped at the handle too! I went to the Global site and they claimed that dropping the knife was a "misuse". >:(
Great Knives that have lasted and continually perform! – I have used these knives for around 7-8 years now (first using my parents', now my own that I purchased 6 months ago) so I can honestly say from experience that they stand the test of time. They are still easily sharpened with the water sharpener that I bought with them for around $30 and will cut through anything I throw at them. I sharpen them… Read more · 1
once a week and they slice through tomatoes as well as they did when they were new. I find them comfortable to hold and I love the look of them in my kitchen. I have recommended these to all of my friends and both of my sisters have bought them on my recommendation and they are happy with them also.
They may rust if you put them in the dishwasher as they did when I tried, but now I just give them a quick handwash after using them so I don't have this problem. The rust was easily washed off anyway so no dramas. Reliable, comfortable, sharp, visually appealing, strong. They may rust in dishwasher.
Excellent – I was after a sharp knife for my kitchen at home and went on a hunt to find a good one. After much research and shopping I decided on Global knifes. Whilst they are a little expensive (I payed $350.00 for a set)its money well spent, after all you get what you pay for. I will recommend however that you get a knife sharpener to keep the edge of… Read more
your knife razor sharp. Also to avoid dulling your knife quickly only use wood cutting boards as other material such as Marble or Glass will dull your knife edge quickly.
Global recommends using a soap or ceramic stone to sharpen its knifes and so do I. I purchase a minosharp/water sharpener, which is recommended for sharpening Global knifes and is very easy to use and restores the razor edge to the knife in 2 simple steps. In Australia you can pick these up at King of Knifes stores which can be found in most major shopping centers. Thats where I purchased mine from and the knife I purchase from Myer as they had a sale on at the time of purchase and where the cheapest. Shop around for a good price though, they do vary in cost from store to store as well as design of block sets Excellent Knife, well designed.
Very sharp (watch your fingers) Needs Sharpening

Now I have the sharpest knife in the block! – Global, the brand loved by everyone. They stay sharper for longer, easily cared for with Global sharpeners. Stylish & convenient storage. Cooking can be more CREATIVE and less of a CHORE. Handle designed to better fit the shape of a human hand, perfection! I highly recommend for anyone, they're a higher priced item, but they're worth every cent I guarantee. Show details
Great knives as long as they are maintained – I got these on 'sale' online many moons ago and must say that they are really good value for money... it's important to have a knife that fits well into your hands and these are very ergonomic. The stand that comes with the knives consist of wood with perspex and if not kept really clean can look rather ordinary. The perspex can crack easily and… Read more
one good thing is that both perspex sheets can slide out to be cleaned Look after them and get them sharpened properly and they'll be with you for life. Oh and handle carefully because when sharp.. they're SHARP.
Good value Japanese knife block - provided you don't pay too much – I've given this knife block 4 stars - but that's on the basis that you get them at a reasonable price. We saw this set in Australia "on sale" at around $200 several months ago and didn't buy. Then when on holiday in NZ shortly afterwards, saw the same set for around $100, so bought the identical set there. They are proper "layered" steel… Read more
knives, so are very sharp and easy to sharpen. But for this price you won't get top quality steel, and you need to follow the manufacturer's instructions to get them to last. In particular they will be susceptible to rusting if you leave them to drip dry for example - they need to be cleaned, dried and put away immediately after use. I'd recommend these knives for home use provided the price is less than $200 (preferably well under), and so long as you are able to treat them with care and follow the instructions as regards cleaning and drying.

Shop around – Make sure you shop around before purchasing. I had tried these knives at a friend's house and thought they were amazing. I went straight to the Global Knives site to purchase. The next day I found them $160.00 cheaper on a reputable homewares site. I contacted Global knives to see if they would price match which they wouldn't. They offered to… Read more
refund my whole purchase rather than offer a credit to my credit card which I considered less than optimal customer service and seemingly poor business sense given that they were prepared to lose over $500 worth of business rather than keep a customer. Apart from that I believe the knives are good.
A good looking knife set – Good looking knife set. You can see the blade shines through the window. Good for a tiny kitchen bench. Value for money $330 for 6 knifes and a well designed bamboo block. I give 3 stars for it. The 2 missing stars for the cook knife. Once you hold knife you feel it far behind the traditional cook knife. It's too light and thin to cut hard stuff like pumpkin. They go blunt very quickly – Already blunt after using them only a few times. I've only cut on wood and plastic boards, have always hand washed and dried immediately and have only cut soft foods. Show details

Best set of Knife – Love this set of knives, and the difference good knives make! The design is pleasing, both the block and the knife set itself. A pleasure to use, good weight, well balanced that feels great to use with a clean design. , easy to clean up - The best knives I have ever had, very pleased with this purchase. Show details
Use your money to buy some other knifes – Rust spots appeared after using one week. They won't claim it in warranty. They said it is not manufacturing problem. It is sharp knife. But stainless knife should never have rust. I can only say the knife doesn't no deserve this price. Show details

These Knives are utter garbage – You pay a reasonable price and you might think you would be buying a quality product. Not the case, I'm throwing these away after a little over a year. These low grade , over priced knives are complete junk. Unreliable guarantee, should you attempt to use this you will only met by denial and deflection. An unethical and unprofessional UK… Read more
distributors,
Low priced knives replaced regular would provide considerably better value for money than this rubbish.
Great knives – My husband had wanted a quality knife set for years, so I finally bought him this set last Christmas. He was really happy with them and they look great on display on our bench as well. It has now been six months of daily use and they're still as super sharp as the day we first used them. Great product. Show details
Same problem as everyone else – I have had this knife set for just over a year and use them most days but I have the same issue everyone else has, rust spots. I have always followed the care instructions but still most of the knives have spots where the handle meets the blade. for the price of Global knives, this should not happen. Show details
Products not warranted for manufacture faults – Always loved my Globals except for continuous rust spots, especially near where the handle is welded onto the blades. After the handle snapped off one of my 14” vegetable knives I discovered Global don’t care. They admit rust spots will exist and are excluded from warranty claims. They have ignored all correspondence regarding the handle failure. Very ordinary service and poor products for the price Show details
Well you do know – Its not.only the knives that need yo be kept clean and dry but also the block. The inside wood would build conjestio. if not sterilized and cleaned you knives will develope rust off that as well. Get a knife bag. Show details
Not bad but super dangerous! – Great knives although I did notice a little rust on them after using them for a few weeks. Just wanted to warn people about the dangers of these knives. They are super sharp and I have cut myself literally twice in the two weeks of owing them, the second cut was so bad I had to go to the hospital and get stitches. I’m not trying to bad mouth these… Read more
knives but you really have no room for error with these and if you have pets at home or kids make sure they are no where near the kitchen when cooking. Great knives but use them with caution
best knives! – I trust global knives and love its professional style. it cuts well and very sharp and light weight, good for my wrist and hand. it is compact and comes with a lovely block, great for storage Show details
poor value for money – Global knives look ok can hold a sharp edge but are not made to last or well designed and constructed, the blades can easily be bent and even break due to the thin blade & not having a full tang & bolster, the handles are unusually shaped and not ideal for most hands. tips are known to break, blades are also very prone to rust. when compared to less expensive knives eg mundial victorinox knives Global knives are not very good value for money. As a saw doctor sharping lot of knives global are one of the best to hold they edge – After use at my son in law i order a set they are the best knives i have had to use with the right one for each job in cooking

Best ever! – I got these knifes as a wedding present and omg they are incredible, I made everyone in the house cut the lemon I was cutting. They glides through everything without any problems, I just wipe them down after I've finished using them and then dry them with some paper towel and put them back in the holder.
Awesome knives – We got a block of these knives as a wedding gift 10 years ago, use them every day and they are still going strong. Rust spots can be cleaned off with steel wool (happens in the dishwasher) and we sharpen as needed with a cheap rod sharpener which does the trick. Worth the money.
Ready to toss – Nothing but trouble: 1st set replaced due to bluntness - 2nd set just the same. Tried all manner of sharpeners and sharpening implements but they just won't sharpen. Will go for a cheaper set next time - why spend so much money on knives that are forever BLUNT so absolutely USELESS!?
Rusty! – I clean them straight after use and rinse in water dry immediately and every single knife has rust spots! First time I have treated myself to a 'good set' of knives, so disappointed! Never treated my good old wiltshires so kindly and they are still rust free 5 yrs on!
Incredibly sharp, keeps a good edge and easy to sharpen – I've had these knives for about 6 months and don't have any complaints, however, I have been careful to make sure that I wash and dry them correctly. Out of the box, all the knives were incredibly sharp - so much so that my wife accidentally cut herself the first time she used them (although I also suspect this was due to her not being used to… Read more
the length and weight of the 20cm cook's knife - which is substantially different to the more european style knife we had been primarily using). All the knives have held their edge well (I'll probably only sharpen once a month), and sharpening using the ceramic water sharpener is very quick and easy. Great set of knives (though I'd also be sure to only buy them when they are on sale!).
Global Knives! – They are excellent, the best set of knives I have ever bought (I've had a few) they are amazingly sharp & handle well, Just love chopping, dicing & slicing with them. I'm sure these knives will last me a very long time. Great product & very well priced at Kitchen Direct
Best Knives Ever – These knives will cut anything very easily, even the hardest coconuts! They look fantastic on the counter at home and have stayed very sharp for 6 years now. Would recommend them highly for the every day housewife/husband to a Restaurant chef. Absolutely very strong and worth every cent we spent on them! Very good for all fruits, vegies.
Loving my new knives – Just received my new 7 piece Global knife block and am loving it. Peeling potatoes was a breeze with the paring knife and cutting pumpkin was great. Knives look great in their trendy knife block. Well worth the money and would highly recommend them. I wash and dry the knives as soon as I have used them because I want them to last a long time. Very Happy Show reply
Global knives – Ours are less than 2 weeks old. They immediately developed rust spots straight away even on the cutting edge - and we have only hand washed them with mild detergent. You have to wash and thoroughly dry them immediately after use. Even then it's hard to keep them rust free. They are light weight. Rust
don't stay sharp for long and rust stains – Took the Ikasu 7 piece set back to Kitchen and Hospital supplies on Erindale Road where we bought them from when rust stains started appearing on some of the knives. They told us to take them to Global office in Mumford Pl in Balcatta but we got no service or satisfaction. Global had the knife set "assessed" but wouldn't disclose their findings… Read more
to us and just said we had to deal with the seller. In the end we demanded our money back. the style of the knife set the knives eventually stain with rust (even though Global tell you they won't" and they blunt very easily.
Love this Knife Block Set – I have had this knife block for around 4 years now and find these knives very good. They are a lighter weight knife which may not be to everyone's taste but I love the weight and feel of the knife in my hand. Always wash the knife as soon as you finish using it and they will stay looking shiny and in good condition for a long time to come. I use… Read more
the Global sharpener which is great and have taken them to a knife shop once for professional sharpening but found this was not vastly different to the results achieved at home so decided it was not worth the extra cost. I don't find these knives fragile, which has been mentioned in other reviews, still very happy with them and glad I didn't choose the Mundial set I walked into the shop to purchase. Once I held these knives they were the only ones I wanted. The weight and feel of the knives when holding them and the sharpness Nothing I can think of
Expensive Disappointment – Heard raves about these knives and bought them with the approved wet stone sharpening device specifically made for them. Both the knives and the sharpener were expensive. Look and feel: 8/10 In Use: 4/10 Knives are made for a specific purpose, that is to cut. looking good and to hold, on its own is not good enough when they don't cut well. … Read more
I was totally disappointed with their performance, I have never been able to get a really sharp edge and I would consider them to generally be blunt even after sharpening.
My wife uses them but I now prefer to use other knives that are sharp and hold a decent edge.
They do not hold a sharp edge for long.
My Daughter & Husband have a set and like them.
Perhaps I bought the ones that were made on a Monday?
They are frankly not worth the money. Look and appearence Hard to sharpen and wont hold a sharp edge

Stylish yet frail – I really loved these knives in the beginning. They are beautiful to look at and handle very well.
