Not great communication but resolved in the end – Had issues, they got resolved eventually but there is a decided lack of customer focus at this company and not great communication. They seem to have some significant internal communications issues which end up impacting customers.

Rateless! – Took my money up front. Emails not answered. Communication poor bordering on rude. I guess if I was on The Block I wouldn't be complaining but I am not on the Block!

Plenty of stone/benchtop suppliers and you do NOT want to pick GMG stones – Here is my experience with GMG stones: - 21st Sep: measurement of the benchtop took place, went well. - 8th Oct: first installation (11th business day, as per their email its usually 7-10 days). Tradies arrived 45 min later than advised by the back office, they picked up a chip in the stone and noticed another gap in the connecting surface… Read more

between the 2 stones, very professional in their work and contacted the back office... Note that the stones were already delayed and now I need to re-coordinate with all the other tradies to reschedule the entire renovation. [name removed] from the back office told me that it might be ready on Wed (10th) but someone would contact me by then to confirm the 2nd installation date.

- 10th Oct: did not hear a word from them until I had to repeatedly call GMG stone to get an answer…turns out it was further delayed…

- 11th Oct to 16th, called them here and there but was always advised that I would receive a return call from them later in the day, never heard anything back, poor communication….

- 17th Oct: finally received a call back at 4:30pm to schedule for the 18th morning installation, was told the tradies would arrive between 8-9am

- 18th Oct: called the back office at 9:10am, [name removed] looked up my file and told me the tradies that were meant to come went on another job so they now had to reschedule for someone else to come in, probably in 2-3 hours…. well they finally showed up around 3pm….I really wonder if I didn’t call back at 9:10am what would have happened…

- 19th Oct: I may now call my other tradies in peace to continue the kitchen work, almost a full calendar month to get the benchtop installed

- 23rd Oct: called the back office to ask for compensation, was told by [name removed] that he couldn’t make the call so had to wait for [name removed] or someone else to call me back (just like every other time when I was asking about first & second installation date) and so far I have heard nothing.

- Speaking with the tradies who came over I could tell that the culture was atrocious at the back office, tradies were professional with the customer and installation, but they were overworked (one mentioned 60 + hrs a week) as a result of the terrible communication/coordination with the back office. Overall I felt that no one really cared about the customers at all, I have mentioned [name removed] a few times here and there but I have nothing personal against the fellow, as the tradies said to me he is a nice bloke but at the end of the day he was just another number at the back office who was put in difficult position…

Anyway the verdict is there are plenty of stone/benchtop suppliers in Melbourne and you do not need to put yourself through my pain with GMG stones, nothing personal against the employees but the culture demonstrated by them shows absolutely no desire for quality customer service.

Used them twice! I will again – We have used gmg for a large high end modern kitchen and fireplace. We are planning to have some additional silestone in the alfresco. We will most definitely use GMG. The joins are seamless and they delivered the stone as promised. Excellent work and their price is competitive. They are also very reasonable to deal with. I was concerned about the reviews but didn’t experience anything as described below.

Excellent customer service and stunning end product with GMG stone. Delighted after reading such bad – Yesterday I had my stunning White Storm IKEA stone benchtops installed by GMG Stone. After reading some horror reviews I felt very nervous that I had paid for my stone upfront before reading the negative reviews. My experience has been faultless from beginning to end. I have had excellent email and phone communication from Ben, Leon and Eric in… Read more

the office. They called the day before every appointment as they said they would. The template measurement guy Ian was totally delightful and skilled. He was on time, patient and talked through decisions about finishes and was meticulous with his template. My check measure was done within 4 business days of order and the stone (40mm) was installed 7 business days from template. Mo and Andrew the installers were also hardworking and delightful to have in the house. Our experience has been amazing and we were so pleasantly surprised.

seamless from measurement through to installation – We ordered our Silestone benchtops through IKEA even though we didn't order an IKEA kitchen. Much better pricing than ordering from local stone specialists. mistakes. The negative review numbers were relatively small when put in context.

once our kitchen cabinets were in I used the online booking app and it advised that it would be 2 weeks plus to the measurement appointment. Fortunately i received an email which brought the appointment forward one week. A very competent and careful bloke measured and drew up our layout and we went over the detail together. He advisedus that the sinks we had purchased were better suited to undermount installation even though they were also capable of being "dropped in". I agreed to the change.

The kitchen and laundry benches arrived eight working days later and were a perfect fit. They were promptly installed with the professional skill one has a right to expect from good tradesmen.

The undermount sink cutouts were perfectly sized, polished and aligned. The cook top cutout was millimetre perfect and centred on the oven cabinet as required.

GMG were a pleasure to deal with. They communicated well and advised of appointment times a day in advance and then confirmed there expected arrival time on the day of the appointment. They did everything as and when promised. Absolutely faultless!!!

Horror – We have 4 townhouses under construction, in Mount Gravatt. In order to speed up process we decided to buy kitchen from " Ikea " ( First mistake ). Than we accepted their suggestion to get stone bench and splash back from GMG stone. After paying for first kitchen tops we waited 1 month for measurement, and 2 more months to get it done. Everything… Read more

went wrong, measurement was incorrect , and had to be re-done 3 times.

Cut outs were in the wrong place, hole for the hot plate was not done in factory, so they did it on site, it looks like hell, but at least it is covered.

We than paid for the rest of kitchens, hoping that same mistake can not happen again , HUGE mistake. It is worst than before. Cut outs are in wrong location and done for wrong sink.

I am still waiting for them to come back, or at least to let me know when are they coming back.

We started our kitchens in January this year, and still nothing.

Poor customer service – GMG Stone recently installed our kitchen bench tops and I found them to be inflexible, uncompromising and very difficult to schedule. out what was going on, it was out of hours and wouldn’t answer. I only spoke to someone at 8am the next morning and the couldn’t tell me what had happened and weren’t prepared to be flexible even though I had other trades booked.

When there installers finally showed up, they didn’t seal the bench properly, they left rubbish and I had to get them back as they drill the wrong size tap hole.

GMG Stone just treat you like a number especially after you have paid the deposit. Thankfully we only have one kitchen and never have to deal with them again.

Terrible communication but good product – We purchased an Ikea kitchen and used their third party provider for our benchtops. ring me on the Wednesday before to confirm the time. By late Wednesday afternoon no-one had rung so I rang and was told yes, it's definitely booked in for tomorrow but not sure what time, I'll get someone to call you. 20 minutes later, I got a call telling me that the installation was booked in for Friday and someone would call me Thursday to confirm the time. I queried why it had changed in 20 minutes but the guy couldn't have cared less! Well, Thursday afternoon came with no phone call so once again I chased them up and was told that the installation was booked in for approximately 8.30am. At 9.30 I rang the office again and was told that they were about 30-40 minutes away. By this stage I would have given GMG Stone a 1 out of 5 rating. However, the installation guys were brilliant and did a great job so i can't complain too much! Honestly, though, I would definitely recommend that you purchase your benchtops or splashbacks elsewhere as the communications of this company are really poor!

4 months and still no bench top!!!!! – This is possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. They are subcontracted by IKEA to do kitchen bench tops. We really should have read the horrible reviews this company have online before paying upfront as IKEA insist on this! GMG Stone confirmed a date of measure and then a couple of hours before they were supposed to… Read more

come they cancelled! This should have been a clue of what was to come!

GMG Stone initially came to do a measure in April this year. They said it would take 10 working days before stone was done and ready to install but actually came to install 7 weeks later after numerous phone calls from us to find out what was going on!!!!!

When the stone arrived it was very obvious it had been mismeasured so was taken back. The gap measuring close to 5 cms!!!

We were assured this time it would be a 10 day turnaround for stone to be recut and installed.

FIVE WEEKS later they finally came back to install the recut stone. Upon inspection there were multiple faults with each piece of the stone!!!!

There were obvious chips on two sides, the sink cut out had damage to the inside as well as having a wave in it!! I don't even understand how something like this could even happen if it was meant to be laser cut! The join of the waterfall piece with the cabinet had a bigger gap on one side so much so that you can see clumps of glue in the join. One of the corners of the bench top was rounded and the rest were squared!!! These are just some of the faults..!!

While GMG agreed that some of these faults were sub standard and that initially they thought all pieces would need to be redone, they wanted us to give them an opportunity to fix these. Obviously because it would cost them less to repair!!! Again they do not care about the finished product or customer satisfaction.

After reluctantly accepting a repair (as frankly some of the faults are irreparable and would be band aid fixes) we were told someone would come to remove the stone every week now for the last 3 weeks. Each week they confirm through IKEA they will come but never give us a date! Meanwhile we still have no functioning kitchen 4 months later!

All of the negative reviews are spot on! The customer service is shocking. They will cancel on you last minute. They will be rude over the phone. They will lie about dates. Please avoid this company at all costs if you value your time and money and mental stability!!! We are 4 months in and still don't have a kitchen!!!!

How to lose your benchtops in ten days – I ordered my kitchen and benchtops through ikea and paid the $500 amount and $100 booking fee for check and measure. benchtop. Fast forward four weeks on and I am calling very Day asking for an update on when my benchtops will be installed. A manager has been asked to call me back several times and I continue to be ignored. Although I am sensitive to their plight (they apparently keep running out of the stock of the lagoon benchtop hence why they couldn't get it to me on time I was told several times that they would be there in the week and they have not arrived or called. For $3,600 this is very disappointing I pay my money and I don't get my benchtops in ten days. I am not considering asking for a full refund as I feel like they are never going to arrive. I will post more when and if they ever come, until then the waiting game, my poor benchtops are lost in the Universe somewhere. Sincerely no benchtops.

Hopeless and disorganised – This entire experience with gmg stone was a litany if errors. First check measure failed to detail that we ordered sink grooves and a second tap hole for water filter. installation gmg call to cancel the install because they only just realise they needed to book 4 guys to lift the stone piece and they had only scheduled 2. I had taken day off work and we needed to go ahead so in desperation I said my husband and I would help lift it. They had the sizes for 3 weeks in their system and they are only realising night before that it's a heavy piece ??? What the ??? They arrive and then we see that the drainage grooves are not done so the installer took it all away. Failed attempt number 1 over !!! Then after numerous phone calls chasing up as they rarely return phone calls , we get a second install date. There is a big glob of glue covering a big chip that I notice . No one mentioned that there was a chip. Installer takes it all away again. Second day off work wasted and failed attempt number 2 over !! Then gmg decide they want to try and patch/fix the damage rather than give me a new cut piece using the argument that they just want me to get my benchtop. Yeah right. More like they want to save on costs and have me wear their flawed stone benchtop. We have now raised a formal complaint with ikea and ate threatening legal action. Thank goodness we have a barrister in the family. I'd be happy for them to bring it on at this point . It has been over 5 weeks and still no date or plan for when the benchtop is to have a 3rd attempt. It's a joke, they are a joke. Wish we had never gone with them. Ombudsman is the next stop for us.

Most useless company out there – Delivered a damage bench took almost 4 months to get them to do something about it. Would not install my glass till the bench was sorted out. Install a new bench and put splash back in which 2 pieces have marks on it. Don't have the energy to complain as it took constant chasing for 4 months to get my bench sorted. Terrible company that do not communicate or care the quality product they send to there customers

Get your benchtop and splash back from somewhere else!! – We ordered a kitchen through IKEA and were advised that they subcontracted their stone benchtops and splash backs and provided us with GMG Stone's contact details. benchtops as quickly as possible. When we called the arrange the check measure the lady on the phone was quite rude, this should have been our first warning sign. The gentleman who came out to do the check measure was reasonable and he attended within a week of our phone call. He took all the measurements and advised the benchtop and splashback would be installed within 4-6 weeks and we would receive a call to confirm a date and time. After 6 weeks we called to ask when installation was going to occur and were advised "don't call us, we'll call you". 4 months and several phone calls and emails later and we contacted IKEA to complain. IKEA said they had no control over the installation and we would have to speak directly with GMG Stone again. I received a call from the manager telling me they had been contacted by IKEA, apologizing and was told installation would occur ASAP. Another 4 months later we finally got our stone benchtop however they did not install the splashback and tried to tell me we didn't order one. They made me find the receipt and email them to prove we had ordered splashback and then when I sent them the receipt they tried to back track and say there had been a "delay at the warehouse". They installed my splashback 2 months later IN THE WRONG COLOUR. I complained but if they had come back to remove the splashback there was a chance they could've damaged my cabinets and benchtop and I didn't want to wait another 10 months for production and installation. If you order from IKEA DO NOT use their sub contractor. Go with someone else whose more reliable with friendlier staff who won't take almost a full year to fulfill your order!

About 2-3 weeks later I received a call to book in my installation. Again, the guys that came out were excellent. Overall good experience – I admit, after reading reviews I feared the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised. walls aren't straight), but all my research (plus the GMG warnings) indicated the myriad of issues you'll have if you don't get it all sitting level.

The first guy that came to do the measurements answered all my questions (of which there were many) and was able to explain the pros and cons of exactly where to do the join. His advice and patience helped me to make an informed decision.

Two weeks later I was contacted to arrange the installation for later in the week. I ended up taking a whole day off work as I was expecting them sometime around midday.

Close to 3:00pm I called head office to see what the story was, and I was told they were half an hour away. Sure enough, at 3:30pm they showed up.

They patiently listened to all my concerns and queries, and sought to rectify any potential issues (e.g the two pieces lining up, the varying gap between the existing wall and benchtop).

I was pretty happy with what they put in and the effort they made to make sure I was satisfied with it.

Making an Ikea kitchen is not as straightforward as you'd think, but fortunately the dealings with GMG were relatively painless.
