It is incredulous that the customer service is so incredibly terrible when you consider that Apple is their direct competitor. I had a screen issue, and their first solution was to send me to one of those dodgy mall repairers. That is who they have partnered with as their authorised repairer. Beyond belief. If your phone goes wrong you will expend hours and hours of your time speaking to morons. Never again. Show details

If you can't buy from a bricks-and-mortar store, buy another brand – I thought the Google Store was fine and bought several products from them. Then one was faulty (Pixel buds that died about a month after I got them). They won't refund and the returns experience appears to be designed to discourage you from ever bothering to return them. You can't simply post them back. Unless you have several hours to waste… Read more

filling out information on clunky online and paper forms and making phone calls to organise a ridiculously complicated international courier pickup (that they want you to stay home all day for) -- or you're prepared to drive to your nearest international airport with a bunch of paperwork -- you just have to let it go and write off the money you spent on the Google product (which is probably what Google hope you will do). I have attached a redacted copy of one of the many forms you need to fill out to return a faulty product bought from the Google Store by an Australian. They even gave away that the true value of the Pixel Buds I was (involuntarily) "exporting" is only USD $25, all this while telling me that they'd charge me USD $100 (AUD $159) if I didn't manage to export it to them in Hong Kong within 21 days... unbelievable and almost undoubtedly a breach of the Australian Consumer Law. From now on, I won't be taking the risk of getting a faulty product from the Google Store and will just buy from a bricks-and-mortar store or, if i can't, buy some other brand of product instead. It's a shame, as I like Google products, but on Australia at least, the Google Store is clearly not worth the risk and the hassle.

Store is run by . . . i honestly can't answer that but it could explain the exasperation people have with warranties – I purchased 4 google nest cams (battery operated) which are not subject to review as i have had these for only 6 weeks (happy with them so far . . ) The issue arose when i looked to purchase the solar panels the google store sold, to charge the nest cam batteries in-situ. On review as to what was "In the box" for the solar panel, no cable was… Read more

mentioned (charging cables are also sold seperately for the cams unless you purchase the triple pack, which i had) and there was no cable seen in the photos either, so i contacted the google store asking "Does the solar panel come with a cable to connect to the battery nest cam and if not, where in the store can i buy one as the only cable that could possibly be suitable (USB connector) was marked "not suitable for outdoor use".

The happy reply i received was "Cable is not available with the Wasserstein Solar Panel device since daily direct sunlight exposure needed for optimal performance". . . . ah, wth does that even mean? The email went on and stated that the Google nest support team would be in touch to assist me further, so i bit my tongue at the time and waited, thinking they would also have a word with the person who sent the first eyebrow crinkling reply. Yep, no such luck, same level of quality training provided.

The Google nest team reply that followed was to basically state they have documented the case, and that if i have any further questions, to not hesitate to contact them again (case closed). So, obviously, i did contact them. "The question asked was not answered thanks, not even sure what that answer was" and went on to again explain that i need to know how to connect the solar panel to the nest cam being it supposedly does not have a cable in the box. I even asked that they go and open a box with a solar panel in it just to see if it does in fact have a cable. Simple yes? Nope.

Google nest replied by stating that "they understand", and subsequently provided a store link to a nest cam charging cable with adaptor that plugs into a 240vac power point. Why??? because it was weather proof. . . . . I politely advised them of the error in what they had proposed i use to connect a solar panel to a nest cam in which they replied by telling me again that they understand and subsequently instructed me that i need to plug one end of the cable into the webcam and the other end into the solar panel . . yes, a mains adaptor with ~25mm long pins somehow plugs into a solar panel less than 10mm thick, not to mention myself actually being instructed on what to do with a cable.

At this point i had had enough, i found a google complaints email address and forwarded the email chain in full advising that Google need to seriously up the training of their support staff. The reply to that? "Thank you for writing in to the Grievance Officer for India", oh ffs . . .smh. I patiently read through the lengthy auto reply email to find that if i had an issue, that i contact store support, in other words go back to the start again for another round.

Story has a happy ending, i contacted the solar panel manufacturer direct and ordered 3 units via Amazon, cables included, and have permamently closed the door on the google store (will only ever purchase goods through store front distributors and have them liaise with that lot if there is an issue)

TERRIBLE SERVICE AND PACKAGE HAS BEEN OPENED WHEN DELIVERED – I ordered 2 Google Nest Audio devices via their online store. it took over 3 weeks to receive the goods after a number of calls to their customer service department. I eventually received the goods in damaged packaging. Products and services don't work. The worst service and products I have received. Would not recommend Google products or services to any of my friends and family. Show details

Overseas transaction fees at AU google store!! – Deceptively charges you from overseas, so you get hit with foreign transaction fees by your bank. Google also refusing to co-operate with the Australian Product recall for the Pixel 4a. I expect better from a company as smart and profitable as google - never again at the google store. Show details

Expectations exceeded! – I always say the true test of a company is their after-sales support. My recent experience with Google shows me they well & truly understand that. I had a minor, rare hardware issue with my Pixel 3, which I relayed to Google via Android's inbuilt chat tool. She got me to test a possible software solution, but gave me her email & opened a case, in… Read more

case it reemerged. It did, so I emailed her. She said I could ask the original third party retailer to perform an RMA, or I could do it through Google – I chose the latter.

I sent the phone off last Fri & it arrived at Hong Kong in *two* days. Google emailed me yesterday to say my replacement device had been shipped & I received it *today*. Not only that, but they also sent me a brand new retail phone – not refurbished – box, accessories & all:

Google is much less experienced in supply chain & hardware support than Apple, but they've been able to match (and even exceed) their historical level of service—from initial point of contact, to sending the replacement.

Needless to say, I'm impressed.

I guess I got lucky – I bought a Pixel 6 pro from the Google Store and honestly I can't fault it. I placed my order on a Sunday and the phone was delivered that Wednesday. Customer service was friendly and helpful when I phoned them for an ETA on my order. If I had read these reviews first it probably would have scared me off ordering through them but I seem to have got lucky with such an easy transaction. Show details

Excellent after sales support – I purchased a Pixel 2 phone through from another retailer, after about 20 months the phone began to have issues charging or having the charging cable stay in place. Google team member on the phone listened perfectly and understood exactly what I was saying (no having to repeat myself), within 15 minutes the call was over and they had organised for my phone to be returned and a replacement sent out!

Their courier came to my work to pick up my phone for return on a Thursday, by Monday I had a refurbished replacement phone at my door! Exceeded all my expectations and has given me even more confidence that even if something does go wrong, I won't have to waste my time on multiple phone calls or emails to get it resolved.

PHONE TRADE IN - SCAM? - End of last year my husband initiated a google store purchase of a phone with trade in refund. Unfortunately around that time we began to care for our dying father and… Read more

recently realised we had never received the trade in kit. When I looked into it and I found google had gone ahead and cancelled it without any warning of any kind. My husband talked to google and they claim we were sent the kit and an email saying we had a month to send it back .. we repeatedly told them we never received the kit and have checked including spam folders and no email ... We requested a copy of the email and proof of delivery but they kept insisting it was computer generated and couldn't send to us and expected us to just accept that... my husband asked to speak to a manager but was fobbed off and told none were available and wasn't sure how to proceed from there. So I then requested another call.. we were given the same excuses but this time I insisted the complaint be escalated and we were told someone would call us today.. I will update this review when there is an outcome .. completely unacceptable that they just claim to send something and emails and then refuse to send proof

Faulty google nest and the worst after sales support – This is the future, they have let these companies become a monopoly and so greedy, how can a company the size of google be what in my experience the worst warranty support I have ever had to deal with, maybe in the USA they are ok? they have unlimited financial resources and allocate nothing to local after sales support, unfortunately I have… Read more

slowly accumulated a few google branded devices, but after this I will no longer buy anything google branded. I have had a number of Warranty claims with Samsung and Apple over the years and will now stick to these brands as the after sales is worth the extra initial cost and google products are not cheap, I am genuinely confused at how a global leader in technology, has the after sales support of a tribal village in a remote 3rd world country?? I have spent a small fortune upgrading 7 Nest protect smoke alarms and have had issues with 2 of them in a matter of months from time of installation. my old ones were 12 years old and never had one issue. I feel sick to the stomach that I feel I am going to need to replace these in a short period of time, ok if the house burns down and my family dies because my smoke detectors are on a 4-week round trip for repair, I guess as long as google's bottom line keeps growing that's more important

Terrible returns policy – Google Store Review: I returned two products, yet Google still charged me $100 for a bonus, even though I returned both items. This would never happen with Amazon or JB Hi-Fi—their return policies are fair and straightforward. Google's return process is unfair and misleading, and customer service was no help in fixing it. It feels like I’ve been robbed, and I wouldn’t buy from them again. Avoid if you don’t want unexpected charges! Show details

To make matters worse, they've asked for consent to access my Google account, even though I've already provided everything needed for warranty processing. The lack of response and action has been incredibly frustrating.

the google warehouse must have reported the phone missing so it got put on the "blacklist". Google insists that they did nothing to cause my phone to be put on the blacklist and that the problem must be with my provider. The fact is that only Google can correct this error and they insist that it is not their fault. The only other option is that they sold and sent me a stolen phone - to which they insist is impossible. So I am stuck with a phone that i cannot use as a phone, and honestly I don't need a $450 camera or game device. I am sick and tired of trying to correct this so I am going to make sure that anyone who plans to buy from the Google Store is aware of their incompetence and unwillingness to do the right thing. issue. Easy enough right? Wrong.

Warranty claims for the Google Australian store need to be shipped to Hong Kong. You have to organise the international shipping yourself, although Google pay for it. This means you need to print 3 copies each of the consignment note and commercial invoice plus the security form. I don't have a printer so I had to drive to Office Works to get these printed. The instructions provided to complete the security form didn't make sense so I don't know if I completed it properly.
