I paid $100 NZD for two tickets, the site conviently crashed, my account was charged but I recieved no confirmation booking or ticket. No response from the company after over a week. 4 June at 4:00pm on our return trip to Surfers Paradise from Byron Bay. We were refused access to our own pre‑booked and allocated seats (1A & 1B) by the driver because her personal backpack “needed to be on the seat.” We explained that these seats were allocated to us, as clearly shown on our tickets. Despite this, she insisted “no,” and stated… Read more
that she could tell us to sit elsewhere and if we did not comply she would have us removed from the coach
It was unacceptable for a driver’s personal bag to take priority over paying customers. The driver responded aggressively stating that her bag “was not going anywhere” and that we would sit where she told us to sit.
At this point, my wife became visibly shaken by the aggressive and threatening tone directed at us. We had no choice but to sit elsewhere away from our designated seats while my wife trembled for some time. It was appalling and frankly disgraceful to witness our pre‑booked seats being occupied by a single backpack - an experience that left us feeling demoralised and disrespected.
We have always understood that allocated seats are to be honoured unless there is an emergency. We were confronted by a driver who behaved like a bully even when addressing the rest of the passengers. Rather than using the microphone at her seat (as every other driver we’ve encountered has done), she stood in the middle of the coach and raised her voice at us outlining the rules and the consequences for non-compliant.
As frequent customers who always request seats 1A & 1B due to my wife’s claustrophobia, this experience was deeply distressing and far below the standard we expect.

Driver was great but my experienced was terrible when we had the announcement to returned to the location where we booked after half way through to destination. The trip should take 2 hr and 10 mins but taken double the time and nothing offer in return. Company cut the cost try to fill the bus the pick up the next booking is not okay. If you have a plane to catch you won’t be able to make it. Show details

Very bad – Never traveling with this company ever again. Feel asleep and Water was leaking through the top of the bus and when i woke up I noticed all my jacket and seat, bags were wet. Also the bus was late
crash – i tried to catch a bus from melbourne to canberra tonight and was met with a crash, part of the roof coming off then driving back to the bus terminal to be told the replacement bus is coming only when it arrived an hour later with the same driver that crashed, The driver then repeatedly almost crashed into a pole and stated that she shouldn’t be driving, a very unsafe experience and was met with rudeness and swearing when we got back on the bus

Okay service, rude drivers… – My family have been using Greyhound bus service for years. It’s usually always a pleasant trip and up to expectations, although today on our journey with Greyhound the driver was quite rude.. had no patience for the passengers and wasn’t very helpful with anything. Will possibly consider using train/plane services for travelling from now and on, to save myself from a long trip of feeling uncomfortable. Show details

Great Bus and good people – Seats are comfortable, for a tall man with long legs it was a great fit, lots of leg room. Aircon and stuff work and also comes with a charger although it's a bit slow (or maybe it was my cable). corner of the screen. No extra fees or anything. I booked a premuim seat with extra baggage, I was worried my bags would get stolen at different stops but the staff keep an eye on it at each stop. I haven't cancelled my booking before but was worried I would have to so I booked the premium. From ehat I've read it's easy to cancel anytime up to 15mins prior to departure.
Also the view was awesome, loved watching the trees go by, very beautiful. Was fun and interesting to just relax and watch the world go by my window. Also if anybody knows what those trees with red leaves are let me know, they look awesome and I've only seen 6 of them from Townsville to cairns.

The bus driver didn’t notice a guy without a ticket get on, then couldn’t get him out off so we were 15 minutes late. The bus yesterday also had an overwhelming artificial floral smell that gave me a headache. Other trips I’ve taken have gone smoothly: helpful staff, on-time and clean coaches. Show details

Please be aware, that when you book and pay for travel with Greyhound, and you have been caught out by the recent bad weather & need to cancel, you can not get a refund....unless you pay extra for travel insurance.......the best they can do is a credit. After doing a 24 hour round trip for an apt in a 500km trip was disgusted to find faeces on top of toilet seat and next to it. Whoever did this did not even bother to lift toilet seat for the job. experience at all. I expressed my disgust to bus driver who merely said. I cant do anything about it. He needed a hose! Well if The return bus wasn't the same one after making it further up the road to Adelaide I embarked only to find at 2am it was the same bus. It had not been cleaned at depot and was sent back with same poop on seat and floor. Where is your standard for safe travel. If you can't clean a toilet are you wiping down seats. Get your act together. Non wonder tourists are reluctant to travel with you. Pure filth! Could not take photo as I was almost vomiting

Will not be traveling anytime soon with Greyhound. Booked a work-related trip from Miles back to Brisbane on the 5/3/25 at 1.15pm. From I witnessed your driver has anger issues going on there is absolutely no reason to talk to passengers… Read more

Greyhound will take your money and refuse to listen to a complaint – Not interested in dealing with this company after being treated terribly on the phone by various people whom I consider do not stick to a consistent true story. in refusing a refund in the manner the ticket was paid. No use for the ticket and the company has no heart to consider that it was cancelled within a day with over a month to go. Given a option for a voucher ticket that is of no use and messages that tell me they areca money grasping focussed company without a heart. Tell me it is impossible to give the money back under any circumstances. When asked what about good will and that I do not believe such statements because of course the law does not prohibit giving money back to a customer they cut me off the phone. Terrible service on the phone with no valued complaint considering system for such a large company.

Absolutely terrible – never again with Greyhound Australia! – I booked a ticket for 27 days and paid $460, only to find out that I can’t take a single bus because EVERYTHING is fully booked! There were no warnings or indications anywhere that the buses might be full, and now I’m stuck with a completely useless ticket. Customer service? Terrible – Do not travel with this company. Bus was over 2 hours late and as stated on the company website, a refund should be issued if the bus is over 2 hours late. No refund was issued, company blamed it on traffic congestion but we tracked the bus (via bus tracking system) and there was no traffic congestion. Shocking customer service support

CANCELLED TRIP – December 21, 2024 Poor service. Lack of coordination. Our trip was cancelled twice due to the flood. We tried to ask for assistance from their customer services but were not able to effectively manage our expectations due to a lack of real-time information. Seems like they are playing safe. You should do better next time!
What the flip – 3 hours prior to my trip they claim the trip had been stopped due to flood blocking the road, checked online and whole route was dry called the joint and they said ill have to find another option cause had to be in brisbane that arfternoon so spent extra 300 on plane ticket just to get a call saying the bus is back on track for the trip Surely they give me a refund plus some cash for having to spend all that Show details

GREYHOUND BUS WILL ABANDON YOU – Queensland's has just had their Bruce highway under repairs after a truckie crashed his vehicle 5am ish on the Friday morning (30th aug). I was trying to get from Maryborough to Rockhampton and because I had connecting buses it wasn't until I… Read more
was on the second bus in another town that the bus driver called my name and had a chat saying that greyhound have been trying to get in touch ( I had no emails, texts nothing even though obviously they had it) and notify me my new destination is Agnus Waters.
My problem is that I wasn't given warning. I knew about the crash sure. But I figured if greyhound were still having tickets for sale I figured they still had an alternative.
Called up greyhound and spoke to a girl called Olivia who is based in Brisbane, who the entire time had a passive aggressive tone and couldn't answer any questions I had concerning why I wasn't contacted. Like look I know they're probably getting alot of work on the Friday arvo and they just wanna be done but the level of professionalism and support I received from whats meant to be customer support is wild.
Ah another important note was that as of yet they would not refund me the $185 ticket I paid. Paid $185 for me to go to the next town over and then pay my own way to get back again.
Sorry for the rant. I just can't get over how bad this whole experience was. It's crazy just how quick and cutthroat greyhound and it's support staff is to abandon its customers.
Bus driver was incredibly helpful! Was fully honest with me about what to expect and was just incredibly human with me and the others. I just hope their upper management isn't as bad as their customer support.

did not offer a refund or alternative transport. So, I had to make my own way back home, from a whole other town. At 6 pm.
I called the greyhound service centre “based in Brisbane” the next day to get a refund and was greeted by a woman named “Olivia”. Gave her my booking number and explain to her what had happened, just for her to be extremely rude. “ when you found out, we found out”.. (which is not correct because I got told they tried to contact me EARLIER that day, which they did not) “It’s not my problem” she says and continues to cut me off while I’m politely speaking. I don’t know if she was having a bad day but she was extremely rude and unprofessional. She said I couldn’t get a refund and continues to harass me.
Don’t book with these guys and please look at the bad reviews beforehand.

Selfish driver – If you want to sleep don’t take a greyhound, the selfish driver kept waking everyone up with his loud walkie talkie. Murry’s have more consideration for their passengers. Shame the drivers are so selfish cause it’s better legroom. Show details
Cancellation of my rides – Had booked 4 rides two weeks before the trip started. Three days before my first ride I received a message that from this day on the bus from Melbourne to Brisbane just goes on for days instead of seven by immediate effect. Absolutely pathetic online booking service – If I didn't have this experience myself I'd have trouble believing it. you can change is the date of travel, not the origin or destination!!!
OK, so I'll cancel the reservation and start again but hey. THERE'S NO CANCEL OPTION!!!
OK, so it says please call this number for assistance with reservations so I call it, but hey, it's the weekend and we only answer our phones in normal business hours. It's Saturday now and the travel is for tomorrow. Just dandy.
Is this company serious? Do they really think they can provide an online travel booking service but not let you make meaningful changes to your reservation, not let you cancel a reservation, and not let you speak to anyone???!!! I can scarcely believe that the people who run this company think this is a remotely acceptable level of customer service.
I regret trying to book with this company and I'll certainly never make such a mistake again.
Bus Driver with "problems" – My trip from Newcastle to Coffs Harbour on the 20th January was hellish. The coach arrived at the Newcastle terminal on time and the bus-driver checked off my name on his tablet. Strangely, he asked me if I chose my own seat and I said "Yes". He then said "Well, I've put all my personal stuff on that seat so you'll have to find another." I was a… Read more
bit taken aback, but cooperated with him and asked "How can I tell what other seat is vacant?" He shrugged and told me to pick any seat. So I picked a seat and sat down. I was a bit peeved.
[For reference: I always choose one of the four front seats of the coach because I find that it helps with my occasional motion sickness.]
We arrived at Bulahdelah for a meal break and he ordered everybody off the coach. (I usually stay on because I don't usually need to get off.) So anyway, we all got off.
I approached the bus-driver to complain, and I told him that I paid for that seat and I don't understand why he would put his stuff on it and kick me off it. I would have gone on to mention my motion sickness, but he told me I was a "whiny little [Content Removed]" and that I should "go and complain to someone who cares".
We all eventually got back on the coach and the driver walked down the aisle counting the passengers. When he got to where I was sitting he started ranting. He said that he doesn't allow anybody to sit in the seats behind him because he was attacked by somebody sitting there one day when he was driving. He said that he gets paid $2000 dollars to drive coaches and that he's a very good driver, etc.
As he was ranting at me in front of the rest of the passengers I could see he was shaking so I tried to pacify him by saying "That's OK, It's all good! Don't worry, I wont complain." I did this because I didn't want a mentally disturbed person driving the coach, so I tried to calm him down.
The last thing he said was "So that's why I don't let anybody sit behind me... especially 'whiny little [Content Removed]'". He said that in front of everybody on the coach.
["Whiny little [Content Removed]" seems to be one of his favorite phrases.]
At Port Macquarie a ton of passengers got on which meant that I had to change seats about five more times when the new passengers confusedly found me sitting in their seats. Eventually after everybody was on board I was able to find a vacant seat.
So, I thought you might like to know how the psychological problems of your coach-driver affects the traveling experience of your customers/passengers. I'm sure it won't be the last time that he upsets a passenger who has booked a seat behind him because of his "condition" He obviously needs therapy before he drives a coach again.
Please tell Him that some passengers need to sit right up front because they suffer from motion sickness.
I wasn't feeling very good when I finally reached Coffs Harbour.
PS. I also noticed that there were fumes in that coach that gave me a headache. It might have been diesel fumes, but I'm not sure. Also, because I got the chance to sit in many of the seats I noticed that quite a few of them were very uncomfortable because the metal seat frame (under the upholstery) was too narrow and dug into my hips. That hasn't been the case for any of your other coaches that I've been on though.

DO NOT TRAVEL WITH GREYHOUND – A 2 hour delay with no ability to contact the company on the week end is disgusting to say the least. And then to not have had any contact via email in 3 days after sending an email, again disgusting. Still awaiting a refund as I had to find my own way.
Excellent service over 7 journeys – I travelled 4000 km in 7 journeys from Sydney to Cairns on a Whipit pass with them. Only 1 bus was late. By 6mins!! Impressive given the distances covered.
