Not Happy Tint! – I had my wife's 2019 Holden Equinox tinted with darkest legal tint in June 2021. Last month, she was selling the car and had to get a roadworthy certificate. light readings and they were outside the legal parameters. When I contacted Happy Tint, they directed me to the branch - Dandenong - and told me I should call them as they'd have the paperwork. I did this, and found the paperwork we were given when the job was done. The paperwork clearly states "darkest legal".

I asked the person I spoke with if the technicians confirm there is no existing tint in the windows before they affix the film - she said they do not. I asked if the technicians check for glass codes on the windows to indicate privacy glass (glass with a tint at manufacture) - she said they did not.I asked if they take a light reading after the tint film is fitted - she said they do not. I wonder if the technicians do not check any of these things, how can they be so sure the tint is legal. From the responses I received from the branch it does not appear that they do, nor that they care.

The branch referred me back to head office, but to date (after three weeks) my emails have been ignored.

So; not happy tint, not happy...

one of my neighbour’s units and found that most of the natural light was compromised as a direct result of her tinted windows. Seeing this firsthand made me very reluctant at the prospect of ever getting tinted windows installed on my windows.

I, therefore, decided to install light curtains on my windows. While my curtains look aesthetically pleasing, they never actually provided me with any certainty of privacy from outside onlookers, passers-by, and constant car traffic seeing into my unit. Furthermore, I found that my unit became especially hot and uncomfortable during Melbourne’s usually warm Spring and Summer months. Despite feeling uncomfortable, I tolerated this situation for five years.

This year, 2022, however, I was determined to take action to help make the conditions in my unit more comfortable and bearable during the warmer Spring and Summer months. I also wanted to ensure more privacy, particularly in the downstairs master bedroom of my unit which directly faces onlookers, passers-by, and constant car traffic.

I consulted with one of my neighbours whom I am friends with for advice. She suggested that I get tinted windows installed on my windows, and strongly recommended Happy Tint. Happy Tint had previously completed tinting for some of her unit’s windows. Happy Tint was highly recommended for their competitive price and professionalism.

I contacted Happy Tint via their website’s enquiry form to outline my situation and request a quote. I received an email response and follow-up call from Greta the very next morning. Once I returned Greta’s call, I was able to book in my site visit/measure and quote with Ric, the owner of Happy Tint the next week.

Ric arrived promptly at the agreed time on the day of my site visit. Ric was an absolute pleasure to deal with! His over 35 years’ experience in the industry really showed in his inspection of my unit’s windows, and in our discussions about my needs and requirements of what I wanted the film to achieve.

Ric had an innate understanding of my desire to retain as much natural light coming into my home as possible, while still being able to achieve my intended goals with the window film. Ric selected the perfect combination and colour of window films for my unit to ensure that the aesthetics were right both internally and externally.

Ric and I had an engaging and lovely chat throughout the site visit, and I found him to be highly professional, courteous and friendly to deal with! I found the quoted price to be reasonable, so I was happy to book my window tinting job promptly.

Later that same morning as my site visit/measure and quote, I was called by Adele at Happy Tint to pay a deposit over the phone and secure my window tint film. Adele then promptly emailed me a tax invoice for my deposit. Later that same day, Ric called me to book the window tinting job with Mark for the following day in the morning.

On the day of installation, Mark was a good communicator and a true professional. He kept me informed of his arrival time, and completed the job quickly and efficiently. He was courteous and lovely to deal with. Mark even cleaned up behind himself, leaving not a trace of any mess!

As a final touch, I was given a jar of beautiful locally sourced pure honey - courtesy of Happy Tint. I found this to be a very ‘sweet’ gesture and thoughtful addition, to what was already a wonderful experience from start to finish! I paid the balance for my window tint film job via bank transfer later that day. I was then promptly emailed a tax invoice for my balance payment the following day.

I am LOVING the new tint film on my unit windows! I can’t believe how I went all this time (just over 5 years) living in my unit without having window tinting installed. They look beautiful, and they fit in perfectly with the colour scheme and aesthetics of my unit both internally and externally. I can now finally have my curtains pulled up all day long and let the natural light in - with 100% certainty that onlookers, passers-by, and constant car traffic cannot see into my unit from the outside.

In addition, I’ve already noticed the temperature difference that the tinted film is making. My unit now warms up in much less time whenever I turn on my heating split system unit/ducted heating. During these recent weeks marking the start of Spring, I have noticed on warmer days that there is far less sun glare and heat coming through my window panes. I can’t wait to see what the temperature difference will be in the coming Summer months!

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how seamless and effortless Happy Tint made the entire process of organising, booking in and installing the window tint film for my unit! The entire process was completed within a week and required very minimal effort on my part. As a busy working professional, I really appreciated not needing to spend time making follow-up phone calls, etc.

Throughout my experience - Happy Tint demonstrated that they respect their customer’s time, and continuously maintained an extremely high level of accountability and professionalism. I don’t normally experience this kind of service in my dealings with tradespeople. I wish all tradespeople held the same level of exceptional standards as Happy Tint!

I cannot recommend the services of Happy Tint highly enough! If you are currently hesitating to have window tinting installed for fear of losing natural light in your home, like I once was – you can rest assured that you are in good hands with Ric and his team at Happy Tint!

After having the majority of my house windows tinted, 10 years on from the first install the film is now breaking down. a cleaning product therefore it was not covered by the warranty. The rest of the 6 rooms we had tinted are fine. Surely if we had cleaned one window with a cleaner the rest would have been cleaned and all would have failure. For the record no cleaner product has ever been used on the windows. When i asked why would only one window suffer failure there was no reply. To be fair to Happy Tint" The original install went well but the customer service on warranty has fallen short of "good service".

Unpleasant experience – Installers left permanent stains on our carpets. One of the installers used the toilet without asking. One glass pane cracked a couple of days after tinting was applied. Installer refused to bear full responsibility, we had pay part of the cost for replacing the glass. Overall a totally unpleasant experience.

worst company to deal with for tinting – Long time customer and booked for a 13 year old car to be tinted. Advised them in writing via email. Upon receiving the car got an invoice more then quoted.
