I've been with this bank since around 2001/02 . went in 2 weeks ago only to be refused service as I did not consent to being scanned in via the qr code, (this is 'mandatory' which is not legal,, not law,) and a breach of the privacy act 1988 , the teller then dissabled the atm I went to in the foyer so I couldn't get cash out. She kept saying she couldn't serve me unless I scanned in, which is a lie, as that's illegal, I am now seeking legal advice, people first? I don't think so
They lie about being "people first"
Been with this syndicate for over 10 years. I was originally happy with them but they changed for the worst, I applied for a loan a few years ago and they gave out my personal information to a member of my family who had no business knowing, I fell into hardship when a family member was hospitalized and I couldn't work but they had no problem just transferring money through my accounts wiping them clean before my payday when I had agreed to catch up, They also decided over the phone to increase repayments towards my loan by $40 per week making...it massively in front of my repayments (but I had to borrow money from friends to put food on the table) and they cut my ability to redraw the excess money. I respect I fell behind due to temporary hardship and I caught up, but am still paying a high price for it even though I dont owe money. The person on the line did not give me a chance to explain when he told me and he just said "this is how it is and that's final" absolutely no compassion at all even though I nearly lost my wife and unborn baby during that time. Don't use this bank, they are not transparent and make you believe everything is amazing at first then they treat you badly if you need their help.. They are not people first, that is false advertising and these tactics is what make good people commit suicide over stress so I beg anyone that sees this to look somewhere else, you will save a lot of heartache in the long run. Every time you see a story of someone killing themselves over financial hardship, think of this bank.. that is how bad they are.
- Heritage Bank
Have been asking for more documents alteast 20 times
I am trying to get a construction loan with them.
They aren’t looking at the documents properly and continually are asking for more. I had conditional approval months ago and all they wanted was a car loan document. That was literally months ago. I now have a building permit and they are holding the whole job up and costing me money in lossed income from rent as the completion date keeps getting pushed back. My brokers and I are at our wits end
I started this in March and it’s now august.
Do not get a Heritage Card after reading my story
I was a customer for 28 years. I had the highest credit rating and Platinum card. I noticed 6 dodgy smss come through one after the other. On the last one, I immediately got on the Heritage website and copied the smss and sent them to their fraud department. Heritage fraud department acknowledged receiving my complaints BUT failed in theory duty of acre to inform me. They told me I am liable for over 4,000 of illegal transactions and that is their tncs. This nightmare has ruined my 5 star credit rating and my health. Was told it was all my fau...lt ( in certain terms) . I have now lodged a formal complaint with the Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) in Melbourne. Once settled, I am wiping my hands of this bank. I have also lodge a formal complaint with Visa. I am going to another bank who guarantee to honour consumer laws. I will take this all the way. " People First " ? Criminals first, customers last.
Heritage Bank - Stay Away
I have been a customer with Heritage since they were a Building Society. They are not that organisation anymore. Words that spring to mind to describe them now are: condescending, understaffed and incompetent. I don't believe this organisation has much of a future under current management, so if you are a current customer, I would recommend that you withdraw your funds and settle any liabilities with them ASAP. If you were considering becoming a customer, don't. If you were thinking about working for them, read this first: https://www.seek.com.au/companies/heritage-bank-434068/reviews
Thank god for reviews!
I really want to leave CBA after near 36 years with them. This was my first stop. Based off these beyond shocking reviews I’ll keep looking. It’s a hard world but I think Heritage Bank better improve ASAP! We don’t want the bigger banks but you’ve got to STAND OUT for the better right?
Rude customer service
Talked to an operator, Chris. Chris was very unprofessional, demeaning and condescending. He seemed to not have patience and was expecting you information they require upon the first call of an enquiry.
This made me think
Thanks Matt. I just sold our house and was looking to move my funds to Heritage as I thought they might be better. Now I have to do more due diligence.
We are homeowners with over a decade of history, never missing a payment etc. Our current property worth close to $900k with under $400k debt attached. Myself and my wife earn excellent money.
We approached Heritage through our broker as we are adding an extension to our house, the deal looked great... 3 months later and we had resubmit our documents 3 times due to the application taking so long.
We ended up refinancing in less than 10 days through the CBA.
However, we missed out on the Government homebuilder grant due to the incompetence of...these idiots. I would suggest you read the other reviews on how incompetent this organisation is and stay away. Our broker is lodging a formal complaint about how we were treated and is strongly recommending they be removed from the panel of lenders to avoid other brokers suffering the same.
Telling your kids we've lost our dream home
I have banked with Heritage since I was 18, and just recently some amazing family members came to me and my wife and offered to go Guarantor for us to get our first home. They had already approached Heritage and discussed the loan. What amazing people!!! And that is where the romantic side stopped. We went to Heritage met with a loan officer, filled out all appropriate paperwork and got the ball rolling... You are good for $700K they came back and said.
What did we do? Found our dream home, made the owners an offer, they accepted, happy days. ...
This bank is still living in the 19th century.
The online banking portal never lets me log in, despite me entering my member number and password correctly every time. (This is not user error!) It then restricts access for a period of time due to too many failed attempts.
As I couldn't access my online banking portal due to the website's issues, I decided to start a live chat with one of the customer service reps, who then told me that I would need to call their call centre to have the bank statements sent out to me, and there would be a FEE(!!!) to do so.
I don't have a very high opinion of banks as a whole, but Heritage Bank is a joke.
Like everywhere else, sadly
Been with this bank now for nearly a year. Hold 4 savings accounts (individual and joint) plus a credit card. Here is the good and the bad.
1. The Good
a. Can have a "real" Joint credit card
b. App works pretty well and quite easy to transfer money (within their limits) and switch between individual and joint accounts
c. In branch staff quite friendly
d. Did a GOOD job when disputing a couple of credit card transactions
2. The Bad
a. Transfer limits are a bit too low for me, requiring going into a branch more than I really should need to or hav...
Absolutely disgusting how they make you wait so long!!
Trying to purchase another house before I have sold my existing home (which I have bugger all left owning on) as I need to be sure we will have a home to live in for my family. Originally we had 3 weeks to sort our finance, I don't know how many times they requested more information! We have literally given them absolutely everything they requested the same night yet they take a week to get back to you again. We have had to ask for a extension of another 4 weeks, we are literally on the last day and no flaming answer as to if we are getting the...finance approval or not! I am so angry, we don't know if we are moving and the vendors of the house we are wanting to purchase don't know if it's still actually sold 7 weeks later!! I tell you what heritage you are going to make us loose our dream home we wanted to buy, and on the slim chance they do grant us another extension and you do give us the finance I will be refinancing again, because no way I am staying with you. You have turned us off buying the house. I earn good money and work 6 days a week, combined with the 2 homes will be 1.5 million in value, I only want to borrow 800k and have 90k left owing. It's a no brainer you would think, they stand to make 600k if I can't make the payments and they take both houses!! Someone there pull your head out of your a@@ and do your bloody jobs and finalise applications!!! I recommend people to stay away from heritage!!
The worst bank lender I have ever ever used
They are painfully slow, incredibly out of date operationally and no one takes responsibility. They change the goalposts last minute when it suits. I will NEVER use them again and can't wait to refinance out and away from this archaic bank.
Slow and no response
I applied for a home loan with Heritage. But the application process is way too slow and they don't keep up to the processing time they promised. They are really frustrating to deal with. I had to borrow money from elsewhere to settle and apply for refinance. Could have lost my 10% deposit if I have to rely on them. Worst experience ever.
Questions & Answers
How can know if the letterhead for agreement by heritage bank is genuine, do you have valid formal for such important papers.?
We always suggest for people to contact Heritage Bank directly if they are concerned with the authenticity of any communications received from Heritage Bank. You can do this by calling us on 13 14 22, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or visiting your nearest Heritage branch.
I applied for a home loan at heritage bank the finance was due on 11 May 2021 , when I contacted them , they asked me more payslip . Luckily the seller grant me an extension for seven days, however, it come to my attention that the settlement is due two days after finance. When I asked heritage bank if I can request an extension for settlement, they told me to not asked,as they can manage to settle in two days. I am now worry if this is just a way of telling me that the settlement will not happen and my application is unlikely to progress for final approval. I feel like it will not be fair if the finance declined, as I have a very good credit score, I have a solid work history: I put almost 30% deposit. I am now stressed for Heritage bank not be transparent with me.
Don’t count on them. I was told the same and they could not keep their promise. Lucky I didn’t trust them.
I am now so confusing, and the finance is just nearby on due date. Is it possible to apply somewhere else @ this stage?
looks like you haven't even got their formal approval. It takes them at least another week to get documents ready after the approval. Then you need to add the time for them to review the signed documents etc. I doubt it will be ready. I was told the big 4 banks can turn it around much quicker but they lend less. Might worth checking out.
