Mutual bank 6% interest rate on savings is fooling customers – Called call center mutual bank, 6%interst rate on savings is a fraud because the 6% interest is not applied on all $100kAud .. its only applied from bracket wise rates like chewd rate which they fooling customers attracting with bold letters 6% on thier webiste promo offers, but its not fully applied to all that $100k deposit.. that means if a… Read more
customer deposits 100k then the 6% is applied only from 50kto 100k.. wow what a great strategy to fool customers like me and myfriends wanting to deposit $100k each and found out 6% is not calculated on full amount... where as other banks give full rates from 1kto100k and only mutual bank is too smart to attract customers and fooling them with tricky calculations.. iam never gonna open an account with mutual bank and i dont recommend anybody to use their fooling services as they say something and they give something... useless bank ever... i wouldn't have found out about this info unless i asked about this few times to a call center person.. they hide their tricks.. so everybody be careful where you invest your money.. any normal person who see thier website would generally think its all true but not clearly mentioned for many customers get fooled or confused.

Came across The Mutual while looking for competitive fixed term mortgage rates as our lender ING was far too pricy. Settlement was within 2 weeks which was even speedier than we’d anticipated. I really like that The Mutual feels like a local bank. Our broker texted and called directly to help get our loan across the line, which streamlined the process. No long wait or hold times via call centre. The entire experience has been seamless and we look forward to a long relationship with The Mutual.

I couldn't be happier in my recent experiences with The Mutual, great customer service and understanding of my needs. Just refinanced my home loan in a move away from CommBank, and both the online experience and dealings with my assigned lending manager / settlement team were very simple & straightforward. 99% of the process was done online… Read more · 1

When i needed to speak with general staff to finalise setup of new accounts it was quick and painless - no long waits for an overseas call centre, because the staff are in the Hunter Area. I recommend giving them a try if you have new banking needs or just want to get away from the big uncaring four.

A complete waste of time. After the painful process of trying to sign up online multiple times due to errors and going through the online digital ID verification process multiple times also due to issues I managed to get it everything submitted. SMS response said I would hear back within 2 business days though I had to call them back after 5 days… Read more

Finally spoke to someone again and got signed up, though had to go through more phone calls to open the actual accounts I wanted. They said I would receive my debt card in 5-7 days. But instead of receiving my debt card after waiting, I received a letter instead stating that my account has been closed and my membership cancelled.
Waste of the best part of 3 weeks and overall a very unpleasant banking experience. So much for their listed "Our Values"
EDIT: The next day the debit card turned up for the account I no longer have. Nice.

We have a home loan with The Mutual Bank and recently needed to transfer property ownership, which required the bank to nominate the title. The reason provided was that they lack the internal resources to assist customers and forced us to engage… Read more
and pay for two separate legal teams (ours and the bank’s). This added around $2,000 in unexpected costs and delayed the process by over two months. The communication throughout was poor and we had to constantly chase them for updates.
In contrast, we went through the exact same process with ANZ (with whom we also have a home loan), and it was completed within a few days ,efficiently, with no added legal costs or complications.
We are extremely disappointed with the experience and would not recommend The Mutual Bank as a primary bank.

I have been with the Maitland Mutual for years & know the staff by first name & thought this was a friendly bank, until a mistake was made in a transaction. My account was frozen! That is right, I could not withdraw my own money. Be careful with your hard earnt money & find an honest bank, If you can. Show details

think is maybe a bit excessive -however overall I have a rate I cannot beat, got an unbeatable home loan rate , a length of term an old person was happy with, easy access and the people are real, Australian and lovely. Best service and the availability to be able to go into a bank, speak with a real person and with their internet banking, I am able to communicate directly and they respond with ease. Best bank ever! Been using (Maitland) Mutual for over 30 years. The service is superior to any other bank. Being able to quickly contact and speak to a local support person is just amazing. I recommend The Mutual – First i was with Phoenix Credit Union then merged into The Mutual over 40yrs. I live in Sydney so all banking was over the phone then app . Always polite and helpful service no complaints from me. Show reply
