Is it true that members over 60 can get their Super out now?
Hi Elle
Thank you for your question....
Read more Ordinarily, you'll need to meet a retirement condition in order to withdraw your super. There are 3 main criteria under which you are eligible to make a lump sum withdrawal on 'Retirement' grounds. They are as follows: You have reached your 'preservation age'* and declare yourself to be fully retired with no intention of working more than 10 hours per week in the future You have ceased any single employment arrangement (e.g. change jobs) between the ages of 60 and 64 You are over 65 *Your 'preservation age' is dependent on your date of birth (D.O.B) as detailed below: D.O.B Before 1 July 1960 -> Preservation Age is 55 D.O.B 1 July 1960 to 30 June 1961 -> Preservation Age is 56 D.O.B 1 July 1961 to 30 June 1962 -> Preservation Age is 57 D.O.B 1 July 1962 to 30 June 1963 -> Preservation Age is 58 D.O.B 1 July 1963 to 30 June 1964 -> Preservation Age is 59 D.O.B After 30 June 1964 -> Preservation Age is 60 If you meet a condition of release under retirement grounds, you can withdraw your funds in an unrestricted capacity. Kind regards The Team at HESTAHi. I have been off work for 6 years due to medical condition and most likely this will be an early retirement since I cannot go back to work. I have had accessed lump sum payments a number of times from my HESTA super. My super money was not much in it as i held my other super through Self Managed SuperFund. I was informed I can withdraw all of my funds in Hesta super, however I prefer to keep it open for when I sold my property under SMSF I intend to deposit the money to HESTA. My question is how much money I need to have in my HESTA super to be able to leave it open. Thank you

When withdrawing super for financial hardship, is this allowed once every financial year or once every calendar year?
Hi Kerryn
Thank you for getting in touch....

Once a withdrawal under a financial hardship claim has been processed the 12 month counter starts (not from the date of the signature). Income Protection Cover (IP) provides a monthly benefit to assist you and your family in meeting ongoing living expenses, in the event you are sick or injured and cannot work. Members can apply for a monthly benefit of up to 85% of their pre-tax salary, and can choose from a waiting period of 30, 60 or 90 days. Hi Kerrie
Thank you for getting in touch....
Read more To make an online withdrawal from your Income Stream account, you can log in here: https://my.hesta.com.au/login. Once logged in, click on the ‘Payments’ menu along the top then click on ‘Withdrawals’. Under the make a lump sum withdrawal heading, you’ll be able to input the amount you wish to withdraw next to the total withdrawal box. You can withdraw an amount between $1,000-$10,000 per day subject to account type. If you hold a Transition to Retirement (TTR) income stream there are limitations to how much can be withdrawn in a financial year (10% of the balance as of the 1st of July that financial year). Additional commutations are not considered to be included in the minimum draw down so these funds are generally used first. If you wish to customise your withdrawal by specifying which investment options to draw from, please click on: ‘show draw down method’ and select ‘customised withdrawal’ which will then generate the investments table for you. Once complete, simply click on ‘make a withdrawal’ to submit your request. You will receive a confirmation message at the end of the process advising your withdrawal has been submitted. That withdrawal will be processed within 24-48 hours, and from here allow 1-2 business days for the funds to clear in your bank account. If you would like to speak to a member of our team, please contact us on 1800 813 327 (8 am-8 pm AEST). Kind regards The Team at HESTAI currently have a fortnightly payment scheduled but need to transfer $500 to my nominated bank account. Please advise how I can do this online.

Please give us a call at 1800 813 327 and our team will be happy to give you further information and answer any further questions you may have. You can find more information about accessing your super here: https://www.hesta.com.au/members/your-superannuation/accessing-your-super.html Kind regards The Team at HESTADoes the waiting period start from when you submit your claim? I submitted a claim the beginning of April and was told i would be back dated. However after many many many emails, phone calls and AIA losing my documents on more than one occasion, then sending me emails to request the documents that i had already sent on more than one occasion, then me having to ring to say they were sent weeks ago and then send again! i finally got my first income protection payment mid November. I questioned back payment and was told my claim began in July however it didn't and is clearly shown on my member portal the exact date being 4/4/21 my claim for IP commenced.
So does that mean because of the incompetence of an employee of Hesta or AIA losing my documents and not bothering to call me after weeks which has turned this claim to an exhausting 7 months of begging and calling, financial stresses beyond belief that you then restart my claim date so I don't get backpay? NOT FAIR
