Fantastic experience, highly recommend Highbury Homes – We had a fantastic experience building with Highbury Homes from start to finish. The team were patient and great at guiding us through all the decisions required at pre-start, they stuck to the build timeframe they had told us and ensured we felt informed throughout the entire process. The quality of tradesmanship and our finished home was above and beyond our expectations. Couldn’t recommend the team and trades at Highbury Homes more! 5 stars Show details
great builder – Our experience with Highbury Homes has been exceptional from start to finish. The quality of build and workmanship is outstanding, truly reflecting their commitment to excellence. The pre-start process was smooth and highly informative, thanks to our pre-start consultant, Veronica. difference, ensuring we felt confident and well-informed throughout the process.Tim, our design and building consultant, provided excellent building design and sales service. His attention to detail and dedication to our vision was impressive. A standout perk was the free consultation with an independent interior designer, which added incredible value and personalised touch to our home. Highbury Homes commitment doesn't end with the build; the maintenance service during the maintenance period was superb, prompt attention was provided for the small maintenance items after the build.Communication was consistent and clear, with regular updates and access to our building supervisor. Being a small boutique builder, Highbury Homes provided a personalised experience, introducing us to the construction manager and managing director at pre-start, which added a personal and professional touch.Overall, Highbury Homes delivered a quality build with excellent service, making the entire process seamless and enjoyable. We highly recommend them for anyone seeking a reliable and high-quality home builder.
Fantastic service – All staff have been astounding. The architect Anson was so friendly and knowledgeable , he spent countless time explaining concept and ideas. Anson was always contactable making the whole experience easy. Show details
Initially thought they were good, then – The house looked great and seemed to be built well. 12 years down the track the Ceilings are all popping off. Following a Builder inspection turns out that the installers did not adhere to the fixing instructions of the manufacturer. They used an overseas crew at the time that did not install the ceilings properly. When presented with the… Read more
report they said not our problem it’s a maintenance issue.
I am not adverse to paying to maintain a property - it comes with home ownership. I am adverse to maintenance when the job was defective and I wouldn’t need to repair it, if only they installed it correctly.
Won’t be using them to build the next house.
THANK YOU - HIGHBURY HOMES – In early 2019, my wife and started the process to build a new home on a property we owned in Mount Hawthorn. We started the process with the builder we used in 2010 and part way through that process we thought some of the costing were starting to blow out and seemed to be higher than what we expected. Part way through that process we looked at a… Read more
Highbury Homes Display north of the river. That as it turned out, was one of our best moves and we eventually built with Highbury Homes.
DESIGN - Right from the start, the Designer (Dave C) came up with designs that we felt were far superior to that of our previous builder. We never showed Highbury the other builders plans and were able to see how good the design was by comparing. Nothing was too much trouble for the Highbury Designer and he came up with great ideas and what we really liked was him challenging us (in a constructive way) when he thought our design changes would not compliment the over all design. The end product was a great design that was eventually transposed into our new home. Comment: Fully recommend the Highbury Design Team to anyone thinking of designing and building a new home.
THE PROCESS – Once we had agreed on the design and signed a contract we were handed over to client liaison who worked with us to fine tune our design into an addenda that reflected the materials, products and finish we required. Our Client Liaison was Lauren R and we are so glad we had Lauren as nothing was too much trouble and she was able to grab our request and changes before converting them the build. Lauren was amazing and her technical knowledge, assistance and help made our building process as smooth as it could be. Other contacts that we had with other sections of Highbury was always professional and any queries or requests were dealt with as a priority. Comment: Great experience due to professional very Team.
THE BUILD – Once we had all the design, administrative and prestart out of the way, the build started and we were assigned Peter M as our Building Supervisor. Peter has extensive experience in the building industry and was “One the Ball” when it came to overseeing our build. He was always checking to make sure workmanship was up to standard. Peter was excellent in keeping us advised of what was to happen next and was always responsive to any of our queries or if clarification was required. The trades were all quality, considered other trades to follow, were tidy, and communicated with us when required. Most had been with Highbury for a number of years and also spoke highly of the company. The end result was that Highbury Homes through the Supervisor and Client Liaison built a quality home for us.
SUMMARY: Our criteria right from the start was - value for money, a seamless process and a quality home. During the design and prestart we felt that variations were always well priced, value and any credits were fair. Our criteria was met and we commend Highbury Homes to anyone who may be considering a new home.
We are also happy share our experience with anyone, including looking at our new home, please contact pkcribb@gmail.com if you would like to take up this offer.
Worst experience. Highbury Cowboys – House was not built to Australian standards, the house severed substantial cracking after handover so I had to engage a approved building inspector who found that the roof was not built to Australian standards, subsequently led to the roof heaving from the walls. The entire experience from HH was disappointing, not being able to change simple… Read more
designs during construction such as lighting, door handles. Being told the build time would be 6 months and in reality it was 13 months for a small single story 4/2. Poor supervision of tradies, poor communication, and to top it off at the time of handover I was given a bill of an additional 12k which the mortgage wouldn’t cover due to the builder going above cost!
Do not use this company. You will be dissatisfied. They are a managing sub contractor who has no experience in house building and are simply out to take your money with a 25%!Mark up on all tradies.
Great local builder – After living in our custom built 2 story Highbury Home for 3 years now we couldn't be happier. A quality build within the allocated time frame and on budget. The few minor issues that cropped up over the initial year or so were dealt with immediately. The team are friendly and helpful wading through this complicated time consuming process, and are focused on a great end result! We recommend them to everyone who asks us who the builder was. Seamless Experience! – Our Highbury Homes experience was excellent, from the design phase, during construction and even post hand-over. Having built multiple times, we were seeking a builder to custom design a two storey house to maximise our block with rear views. We had basic drawings which were converted by Dave Curran to a unique design to suit our individual needs… Read more
and within budget.
The build was seamless and took approximately 10 months to construct. We cannot fault the sub-contractors and tradies who were friendly, experienced and delivered a quality product. Similarly, our Site Supervisor Simon Moorhouse provided timely advice and follow up works when required.
A special mention to our Project Administrator Veronica Chrimes who was our point of contact. We had regular communications with Veronica making adjustments and variations big and small at intermittent times. Her customer service is impeccable! She attends to all requests in a timely and professional manner and made our building experience a positive and pleasurable one.
We would not hesitate in recommending Highbury Homes as the overall building experience was exceptional!
Very Impressed – I just wanted to take a moment and thank Highbury Homes for the beautiful, structurally sound home they built for us. My husband & I were impressed with Highbury from the start. We wanted to build a unique, custom designed house with high gabled ceilings throughout much of the home. We met with a number of builders who didn't take the time to… Read more
prepare a budget for our house because they thought the gabled ceilings would far exceed our budget or we wouldn't be able to achieve the high pitch that we were after. Highbury didn't hesitate and in the end by making a few small changes, we realised this project could be done within budget. When comparing display home companies, we always liked the design of Highbury Homes and found ourselves continually gravitating back to them. We are very pleased that we chose them in the end. The house was built within 7 months which is not always the norm. We had some extensive flooding on our farm in the winter but there were few building delays and their trucks arrived even when we thought they wouldn't be able to. I will say, we did choose a number of our own finishes from some of our own sinks, basins, industrial lights and roof trusses but Highbury worked with us to achieve our goals. No building experience is perfect but overall, we have been very happy & love our new home. Building a brand new home can certainly take time and requires checking in with the house as it evolves and also with the office on a continual basis. I wanted to specifically mention that this process was a particularly good one because of our Project Administrator, Veronica who we worked with daily for quite some time. She was excellent at her job and made the experience a really pleasurable one. To the same extent, we also worked equally close with Lauren, Emma & Sacha. These girls in this office are so efficient, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. They are a great asset to Highbury. The build quality & workmanship was excellent. Having said that, It's not only the physical build, but also your experience with people that helps define your overall view of a company. Both were great.
Very efficient, professional, high quality – I wanted to build a home on some vacant land and had ideas regarding the general design and look of the home. I contacted Highbury Homes because I had seen some of their previous work. Over the next couple of months I met up regularly with one of their team, Lee-Anne Bailey. We would draw up designs and plans over coffee. Between us we came up… Read more
with the first "artist's impression" of the house. The Highbury architects then took over and converted our vision into formal plans. Lee then took me on a "tour" of warehouses and suppliers of fittings, floorings, etc to decide on the fine details of the home such as taps, floor tiles, basins, toilets, doors, wall colouring etc etc.. Once done, I signed off on the plan and Highbury got to work building. I was away for a large component of the building process but was able to pop in every now and then to observe progress. The home was built in a timely fashion and to budget with not problems whatsoever. The final product was exactly what I had hoped. Darren Leckenby had been working behind the scenes to ensure a smooth build. I have now lived in the home for over two years and I love it. It looks good, it has great lighting, it is high quality. After 6 months, I did notice one minor "glitch" in the build. One of the power outlets was not quite where I had planned. However, because it was more than 6 months after moving in, the deadline for requesting changes has passed. Nevertheless, Darren contacted me out of the blue recently to ask how everything was going. I told him I loved the home... but I decided to mention the small glitch. Without hesitating, Darren immediately arranged for the problem to be fixed with no cost to me at all (even though I had missed the mistake in the plans and had signed off on them). As such, I highly recommend Highbury Homes for the quality of their products and absolutely top class service.
Awesome builder from start to finish – Our Highbury home was completed earlier this year and we absolutely love it in every way. The builder was awesome to deal with right from the start through to the finish, always professional, friendly, helpful, patient and quick to respond. The build was very well managed and decent tradesmen were used for all the jobs. As a result the build… Read more
quality is excellent. We have built before and we found the experience and result with Highbury to be far superior. I would not hesitate to recommend Highbury Homes to anyone who is deciding on a builder and is looking for a quality home. Thank you so much to all the lovely staff for building our dream home and looking after us so well at every stage. You are a great team.
3 year Anniversary – Just realised I have been in my "new house" (I still call it my new house) for 3 years this week and I still love it. The whole process great and even had a couple of little things dealt with after handover without dramas. The range of options available let me personalise my home and I would do it again with Highbury Homes.
Roof leaks, gutter fell off – I would seriously look elsewhere for a builder. Cannot manage their sub contractors. Our box gutter leaked for 3 years before finally they got the silicone in the right area to stop it leaking. Who knows for how long until the sun destroys the silicone and it leaks again. Also last year our front gutter fell off because Red Tag roofing (Highbury… Read more
sub contractor) thought that it was a good idea to install it by attaching it to the fascia with small tek screws instead of brackets as per the Aust Standard. Replaced it with a new one and didn't silicone the joins and now the fascia has been ruined. I would build with someone else.

Happy customers – We are nearing the end of the building process and couldn't be happier so far. Both the site supervisor and project administrator have been highly responsive, proactive and helpful. The quality of the work is great and the progress has exceeded our expectations. We would have no hesitation in recommending Highbury Homes to anyone wanting to build. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Seamless Experience – Our prestart rep Veronica has been amazing throughout our build, a response within 24hrs every time, the quality of the build has been faultless so far, we have engaged an inspector which I'm now thinking was a waste of money because the tradesmen used so far have been so fast and with such attention to detail. Can't wait for the final touches so we can move in!! This is my second time building and I would absolutely recommend Highbury Homes. Show reply
Fabulous!!! Great Service, Beautiful Home! – From Pre-Start to Handover, it was indeed a pleasure dealing with Highbury Homes. Throughout the build of our beautiful 4 x 2 home in Hammond Park it was professionally managed by our Supervisor Leon, with exceptional attention to detail during this time. We could not be any happier with the quality, workmanship and the professionalism that was… Read more
provided to us throughout our building process. I would highly recommend Highbury Homes to those who seek exceptional customer service, building design and a beautiful home to last a lifetime. Thank you once again to Peter and the Highbury Homes Team.
Excellent Service So Far – We are building a modified version of the Horizon, a double-storey home on display at Coogee. We are absolutely delighted with the service and attention to detail we have had from the design phase onwards. The designer was able to translate our wish list into an affordable and stylish home. He went out of his way to make changes to suit the… Read more · 1
orientation of our block, to maximise our views, and to accommodate neighbours concerns. He visited the block several times to ensure the design would be perfect. We made several design changes over a six month period and never felt awkward about asking for changes, even when it meant delays to building approvals.
Once pre-start started we were once again delighted with the service we received from the contracts manager. We made many changes to the addenda over a period of months, and again, no request was ever met with resistance. The drafting team were very supportive and went out of their way to help us decide on the best changes.
We have now had the pad laid, the plumbing and electrical works in. So far, we cannot fault the professionalism of all staff involved.
Very Poor Builder - No Respect for the Owner – Overall: Pros: Stuck to the price and actually paid me for some contractual breaches Cons: very poor builders and disrespected the owner on numerous occasions. Overall: I have built with Highbury Homes and found them to be completely unsatisfactory for a number of reasons. The most problematic aspect of Highbury Homes is they consistently… Read more
failed to honour the terms of the contract or their verbal utterances. For example, they installed plastic piping instead of copper, even though the contract specified copper. The site supervisor mismanage the tradesmen to the point where most things literally had to be done twice (for example, put a retaining wall in the wrong place, tried to charge me for relocating it, installed the kitchen in the wrong colour).
When I complained about these issues to Highbury Homes I was told by management to “get in my car and F**k off” when I visited their offices to complain about contract breaches and the mendacity of the site supervisor.
Good quality product - shocking customer service – I would never build with this company again. We were building from a remote location and we're told at the beginning that we would have regular communication regarding progress via email. Once they had our money and signed contracts, communication was rare. When we requested information we were told it was "none of our business" those words came… Read more
from the mouth of the highest authority of the company, so we felt trapped.
Our house was built to standard and we had the usual problems hat occur when building but I would never recommend anyone to build with this company, as I have had better customer service at McDonald's than from the people we were paying hundreds of thousands of dollars. It has been the most distressing time of our lives having to deal with he staff at this company. Never never again. good products awful and unprofessional staff
brilliant service and product – My wife and I had Highbury Homes design and custom build two homes. They helped us with the subdivision, design and built them to a high standard. Great job Highbury – We are second home owners are very pleased with our selection in choosing Highbury to build our home. We had some basic ideas as to how we'd like our new home to look, but the designers at Highbury soon transformed our ideas to the next level. Even though we'd built before and thought that we knew it all, our designer came up with ideas that we… Read more
hadn't even thought of (and kept it within our budget)
The pre-start process appeared daunting a first. So many decisions to make. Our project administrator provided with a list of suppliers and product display outlets that helped us prepare for our decision making process. To our surprise, Highbury had also arranged for us meet with an interior designer to help us with the internal and external colour selections. We're not sure if Highbury provide this to all of their clients but we were thrilled with the extra service. It was such a help.
The plans went through the shire approval process with a few hiccups but we suspect that the delays here were due to typical local government red tape. Highbury were chasing the approvals on a regular basis and doing all that they could. Overall it wasn't a big issue and the plans were approved.
When we got to site, we were introduced to the supervisor. He was perhaps a little on the gruff side, but we soon learnt that his skills were in construction and getting the the job done, not just saying yes, yes, yes. Great job [name removed], thanks for everything!
Our home was finished well within the allotted time.
To be perfectly honest the only frustrating time was just before handover. The house was almost finished and yet we couldn't move in. Highbury explained that they needed to make sure that everything was totally complete before handover .......it was well worth the wait!
We are so happy with our new home and the personalised service that we received. Great job Highbury!
Thanks to everyone involved.

Highbury Homes - Built New double story (6x3) – It all started well with Highbury Homes, sales guy was nice. Site Manger needed an attitude adjustment, hardly returned phone calls, and was always dismissive about issues on site... Only a little customer service was required from him to keep me happy, but there was no courtesy at all. We have now been in the house for 18 months and we are… Read more
enjoying being in the house. HH came back to fix the cracks etc. at 6 months, however one of the same cracks over the fireplace re-appeared at 9 months but HH are refusing to fix telling me it's a home owners issue. If the crack was 'fixed' properly in the first place it wouldn’t have re-appeared.
Other issues: A number of towel rails all rusted, on the second replacements now, - had to continually chase them up for replacements; No Hot water when we moved in - The Plumbers HH used, were terrible, the owner of the plumbing business was aggressive to us and completely disrespectful
Roof leaked badly in 4 places prior to us moving in.
Anyway, in short dealing with Highbury Homes started very good with the sales person, there were a few bumps and bruises along the way, which we dealt with, but what's disappointing when we have built a $1M home with them, as soon as they have your money, after sales service is virtually non-existent.
We have not been the type of family to write bad comments, but in this case feel like you all need to know. Contract Admin guy was nice After sales service, terrible

Poor standard of workmanship – Lovely home designs and displays is what reeled us in. Salesman was knowledgeable, however, told a few fibs, wasnt too helpful with all questions that needed answering, everything could be answered at pre-start. We encountered a few hiccups along the way with the home inclusions and what was promised to us by the salesman-two different things. Our… Read more
contracts administrator could not be faulted. Any queries were answering promptly, nothing was ever a problem for her.
Plastering of the walls, could not be done any worse. It is only evident now once they've been painted how rough, blotchy and uneven they are. The ceiling is no better as the panels, the taping and nails are visible. Lets not forget the uneven slab-"10mm" out, being an acceptable industry standard.
The poor workmanship and low standards, I would expect from an entry level builder perhaps, but not one that charging you $330k+ for your home.
I would not recommend Highbury Homes to anyone spending this sort of money.
Highbury Homes - considering signing up – The sales rep seems to really grasp the issues that we are facing with a narrow sloping block. At the first meeting at our house he had a look at the block and came up with some ideas that he is going to go away and work up into some sketches. We have talked to lots of builders and this is the first one who has actually considered the block… Read more
and how he can fit a house onto it, rather than how can they fit one of their existing house plans onto our block. He took into account our family situation and also made us think about how we would live in the house (and garden) not just now, but into the future.
I also like the flexibility that seems to exist when it comes to specifications - you can upgrade as much or as little as you like. So far I like that Highbury Homes have been flexible and open to what will work for our block. Nothing yet!
Excellent – We have just had hand over in August 2010 and can only say positive things from our whole experience. We absolutely love our house, everything ran to time or near enough any problems were fixed immediately and had no problems with making changes even when they were at the last minute. We had a fantastic supervisor I would highly recomend Highbury… Read more

Terrible – In 2007 purchased house under construction by Highbury. Was told it was okay to move in by Building Supervisor. house to be move in ready. When I complain to Manager of Highbury over the phone he says "shut up, I'm talking now". Find out recently that gas boosted solar hot water system was never installed properly - costs $850 to get it re-done the right way. Got things from our 6 month maintenance still not done, major cracks, ceiling giving way in hallway. Don't build with them if you want a quality home and decent customer service.
Rude building supervisor & manager, incompetent tradies, worst customer service I've ever experienced
Terrible – would never build with Highbury again let me tell you why... after the slab went down and the bricks started to go up so did the problems I came to check because I didn't hear any progress reports and quite frankly if your handing over $300.000 dollars you want to make sure that your getting exactly what you wanted. #1 on completion of the kitchen… Read more
we had 400x400 windows to go either side of our oven first time they were put in at 630 mm thats fine accept our oven was 900mm which was a shock to the superviser that had the plans, anyway three attepts later they stiil didn't match the plan but it was deemed wide enough. gyproc was to be used for alfresco and garrage roof lining but for some reason they rocked up with hardyflex. "PLUMBERS" now the fun begins took them 5 weeks to put the pipe work in and when they did they had already floated the walls, but on the plan we put shower roses to be at 2.0mtrs in height so on inspection they were put in at 1.8mtrs so that had to be changed then the ensuite had a spa so the motor was on the exterior wall down the side of the house where the side access door was from the garage only problem was that when you opened the door you could only open it 80% of the way because they put the motor directly behind it. and all un be known to the superviser!!!
And the list goes on 2yrs later still battling it out trying to get tiles fixed grout replaced cracks in walls checked. the design the supervisers, traidies, warranty work done by people with little experience.
