Hitachi RAS25YHA (2.5kW)

Smart features are useless. Alexa integration does not work at all. AC units now routinely go offline and cannot be accessed through the terrible “AirCloud Go” application. There is no response to support requests. Don’t buy one of these units.
The best units for our Oz climate – I was recommended to use these units at remote mine sites on Adco huts. The huts contained all our touch screen PLC based work stations and in places like Marble Bar, Kalgoorlie and here in Qld at Mt Isa the units have been running in terrible conditions and never get serviced or looked at and have absolutely never missed a beat. They do not run 24/7 but are on a timer system which when the hut is accessed, they run for 4 hrs until you reset them. This may happen up to 20 times a week. Process Operators and Truck Drivers are the ones that operate either the heating and cooling depending on the season.
Knowing that they are proven, I have put a couple on my home and they are fantastic, never missed a beat, however l do regularly service them! These units have been on my home for about 6 years and the mine site ones are still going after about 10-12 years!

Not lizard proof – Unit installed and worked fine. Not used much at all, but then after a few days stopped working. After a long drawn out warranty service claim, where they tried to say the new unit was installed in 2011, the service agent arrived and found 3 fried geckos in the control unit. Said Hitachi wasn't cover this. So have paid out over $600, not much less than a new unit because Hitachi can't build a unit that stops insects entering it. The units are built to be outside and yes outside there are insects! So wouldn't recommend a Hitachi after this experience, a complete let down of a company warranting a product in the environment it should be able to handle.

3 Weeks to get it to work – We purchased this split system air conditioner and had it installed by the company we purchased it from. Installation went OK until they turned it on to test it. It ran for about 2 min then stopped. Over the next 3 weeks, both the inside and outside circuit boards were replaced along with some of the cabling - but it still would not run past the first heating cycle.
After I made a formal request for a new unit and told the installer I would be contact Consumer Affairs if it wasn't replaced, Hitachi agree to replace the whole outdoor unit - which now seems to work.
The tech installing it said that they had been having lots of trouble with this new model and there was no way he would install one in his home. He also said that the Hitachi Tech Support did not know what the error codes the unit was displaying meant.
Around 12 hours of tech's time was spent trying to find the problem - instead of just replacing it right from the start.

Vastly underated unit – 2.5kw Hitachi wall split installed in our office, super quiet, still pumps out hot air even when it was -7degrees outside. Installer made use of the 1800 number for tech support and said it was easy to get advice on the unit. Looking to get one in our home now as this has been such a reliable unit Price, after sales service, smart looks
