Good riddance Holden – Nice car overall but creaking windscreen due to faulty seal above the front screen known Holden issue on 2017 models due to a bad batch from manufacturer, Solution by Holden is to spray silicon into under the seal for the life of the car. WTH? Will not replace screen even though car still under factory 7 year warranty. Second issue with AC is the… Read more
smell of rotting socks when you turn the ac on for the first 10 seconds or so since the car was built. Again no joy from Holden on this issue either too bad so sad. Glad I got rid of this car .
Unreliable – Warning do not touch this car.I bought this car with 53000 on the clock.Ive done 20000 kms in this car and already had to replace alternator and now transmission is slipping. No confidence towing my boat or going on a trip.Waste of $ In my opinion.
Bad assembly by GMH – Just replaced the radiator on my 2017 Calais V8 sedan after 60K . It was damaged during assembly on the production line with a dent bottom right of the radiator. Outside warranty , but very disappointing for the last Aussie car I will ever purchase Show details

Great car.... if it wasn't a lemon. BAD ELECTRICS – I've recently sold my 2014 Holden Commodore SSV sedan in an amazing Prussian Steel. It's probably one of the most heartbreaking things I've had to do. It's equivalent to a breakup in my opinion. I'd bought it in January 2018 with 86,000kms on the odometer for $32,000 and traded it in last week on Friday with 102,000 for $18,000. It's not a very… Read more
long time to have such a beautiful car. I hope the dealer I sold it to manages to fix it so no one else has to deal with the burden.
Over the duration of owning it had it's steering rack replaced (common occurrence) been serviced 2 times (at the times it needed service) had lube mobile come out 4 times($80 per callout) for an issue where it wouldn't start and have it at their workshop once to try their luck by replacing the fuel pump and battery (which didn't fix it) which cost me almost $800. Was advised it could be a series of things, only way to know is by doing them one at a time which would cost upwards of $5000 which I do not have the money for as I am and only me paying for myself and my partners food, rent, insurance for our cars, registration for our cars and fuel for our cars plus all other bills that people have. My partner is studying and drives to uni and my working hours means I can't borrow her car all the time. At the time of purchase we were in a better financial standing with her working. I had to get loans from my parents to pay for the "repairs" on this car. Holden wouldn't help because it was out of warranty and lube mobile were going to charge thousands to maybe fix it.
Just severely disappointed, my first ever car that I was proud to drive, just had to be a lemon.
Will pull the skin off a rice pudding (Loudly) – Well Holden left the best to last having owned a few of these in the past the latest is certainly the greatest, but in saying this its not perfect the infotainment unit is buggy and lags worse than Steven Hawkins voice translator. The manual transmission isn't a fan of shifting into second when cold and the bloody chrome on the dash when the sun… Read more
hits it is almost like having the sun join you in your eyeball for a second. But other than these tiny gripes it drive excellently, its smooth and comfortable has boat loads of torque (and im not talking about your dads rusty old tinny, im talking big dirty old cray trawler kinds of power.) The exhaust sounds great with the valves open and the leather interior is well finished, sound system in the redline is very good and the sat nav voice command works much better than many of the other brand units I have tried, Drinks like that uncle that never gets invited around, but unlike him these things can handle getting hammered. A great car and I cant help thinking that had holden built another in Australia after this it could have been a real world beater.
Pros
Great sounding exhaust
Good headlights
Comfortable, smooth and reasonably quiet
Boatloads of power (as covered earlier)
Feels a solid build and very good sound system in redline
Heaps of legroom
Dashboard is well finished (bar the chrome, see below)
HUD is a nice feature
Cons
Infortainment unit is buggy and laggy
Chrome on dash is like putting lippy on a pig (wasted...........grill that sucker straight up)
2nd gear grinds and pops out when cold (bit like grandpa's hip)
Fuel economy (but you didn't buy a V8 to save the earth now)
Never thought Id be driving a Commodore – So I traded my mistake car a 2016 Hilux Sr5 on a 2016 SSV Commodore, 2 completely different vehicles but after my Hilux mistake I wanted to buy a normal car again and the Commodore fitted the bill. Firstly the power of the V8 is impressive and effortless. The noise the car makes has me feeling like a 20 something again and the comfort level of the… Read more
car is brilliant. It has everything you really need and compared to the pricier Hilux seems almost luxury. This car is a comfortable highway cruiser and funny enough gave me 1 litre per 100km better economy than the 2.8 4 cylinder on the highway, in the city however the V8 is a thirsty beast so if you are one that does a lot of city driving every week think about your fuel bill before buying maybe consider the SV6. What I don't like about the car is the tiny side mirrors they are a pain when revering I find myself dipping the passenger side often, the reverse lights are not bright enough (easy fix) and the Holden mylink is just average. What I love is the head up display which works great, massive boot, comfortable seats and plenty of room in the back for the kids. Before the Hilux I had a Kluger Grande and I still rate this as the best car I have ever owned but the SSV is a different beast and one that puts a smile on my face. I always change my vehicles on average every 4 years, if this remains reliable I might keep it a bit longer.

Best car I've ever owned – I use this car for business. Regular trips from NSW mid north coast to Brisbane, Melbourne and occasionally Adelaide. Effortless driving and an absolute pleasure. I'm devastated that I can never buy another. Show details
The Very Last Aussie Legend – I owned an SSVR since new. Not perfect, but excellent. Good value, well designed. I also added the W310 kit to it so pretty powerful and sound is very nice. Show details
Amazing car – We purchased a commodore 2016SV6VF11 with 70.000 kilometres after owning mostly Ford’s duel fuel or dedicated.. what a fantastic car for daily driving especially freeway when we need to keep the foot off because it can easily creep up such amazing power and pick up.. Cat.k – It has been the worst and the most terrible and exhausting experience that I have had to endure the last year and only because I decided to buy a "HOLDEN." Purchasing a "HOLDEN" vehicle has been the biggest mistake and the worst decision that I have ever made in my entire life. The interior is poor quality. I was told that using body moisturiser… Read more
can effect the lining of the car. The consule lid that had a defect in my vehicle was replaced once and within two weeks the same thing happened. I am still waiting from Head Office as to whether that statement is true or false about using body lotion. I couldn't believe that in a message their response was we will find out the answer to that question, surprisingly enough I am still waiting...
The so called technical and customer support manager who assessed my car and also damaged my car in the process and stated in a report that it was "elbow lean", that caused that defect, even when it happened the second time when they replaced the lid consule it's still in his opinion "elbow lean". Is it the moisturiser or the elbow lean? He didn't even know that this model isn't designed with mud flaps when he scraped my car.
Holden still deny the smell in the air conditioner and they keep reminding me that out of "good will" they have replaced the air conditioner, because their classic rehearsed lines and response is that it's not covered under the warranty. The Bluetooth that they damaged and they had to replace after taking my car apart that was aswell out of "good will". The cabin filter they installed was out of "good will" too. Even if they claim there was never a smell detected by them.
Let's not forget the consule but there is no "good will" left because the second time round it's "elbow lean".
Holden should create a new title for extended warranty
"Good Will Warranty".
The noise coming from the dashboard they have created because they replaced the air conditioner is only in my imagination, let's not forget the smell coming from the air conditioner. I had a 10 year old child who got in my car one day that had no idea about the situation and his words were to me "something smells". Maybe that's in my imagination as well.
Holden no wonder your sales have declined the way you treat your customers and the cars you produce is not what you used to do in the past. It's a such a shame. All I have to say is good luck to whoever buys a HOLDEN. If you are faced with problems my heart goes out to you and I hope you have a lot of time and energy to fight it. It's not just about the car problems when you buy a Holden it's how you get treated as well. To the people who own a Holden and have no issues I envy you and I hope it continues that way for your sake. Just visit the Holden face book or any Holden web site and the amount of complaints and issues that more consumers are facing outnumbers the good feedback. If I only knew this before I purchased a Lemon of a Holden.
We have always bought HOLDEN but never experienced anything like this before.
Just a recap, I purchased a BRAND NEW HOLDEN that I really loved. A few months down the track a smell from the Air Conditioner was coming through the vents. I did the research to send them how they could possibly fix the problem. Unfortunately two weeks down the track the same thing happened the smell came back to haunt me!!! Holden tried something else pulling my dashboard apart, even after raising my concerns if they were going to do that because it a BRAND NEW CAR this should not happen. I was assured in emails that it will be fine.
Sure enough the Bluetooth had to be replaced and now I have a noise coming from the dashboard that they deny exists. The lid of the consule was replaced the same fault appeared after two weeks. Mind you I have an email stating that the lid was taken out of another car on the lot to put in my car because they didn't want to inconvenience me anymore. That made me laugh !!!! "INCONVENIENCE"me do they know the meaning of that word?
I got my car assessed from Holdens own expert and what did he do? He damaged my vehicle. Luckily I was there to witness it. They can not deny that. Through the whole process I have dealt with the owner, the machanic a number of people from customer service, the operations manager of the Dealership, other managers of the service department and currently customer realations employee from the branch. This particular employee would not know the meaning of customer relations. You should read her emails!!!
Holden all you had to do was fix the problem in my car. That's all I wanted. You pretend to fix it but you don't actually fix anything. It seems when the going gets tough you dismiss it totally. It is not just the faulty issues in the car it includes how you will deal with situations when they arise. I even paid an extra nearly $695 for an extended warranty on top of what you offered. I am assuming "GOOD WILL" is typed somewhere in that contract.
The message here is don't buy a HOLDEN especially from what I have gone through and still going through it. Stay tuned more will be revealed.
Cooling system problems – I have a 2014 3.6l auto storm sedan i use for my work, 6 months out of warranty the power steering packed it in, holden replaced it saying it was a safety issue that some vfs had, within 4 weeks of that, i started having temp problems, every 3-5 hours of driving it, the engine would spit out about 2-3 litres of water into the overfill bottle and… Read more
not suck it back in and the guage would show the engine cooking and all the centre cluster warnings would show and the car would go into limp home mode, presented to the holden dealer, they said radiator cap faulty, changed it and had to replace overfill bottle as it was crapped out, holden paid for this, drove out only to still have this issue, now checking rad hoses i find the top hose extrememly hot the bottom one luke warm, at other time both hoses similar temp, goes back to holden, they do system checks, say no faults found, then it splits the radiator, they replace it and again system check, holden pays for radiator, cars goes back another couple of times for overheating issue, they find nothing, within a month radiator 2 is leaking and having to be replaced, more time off the road, temp issues still there, finally the dealer says needs car for the week to find fault, i leave it with them, they find the thermostat is an issue and replace that and 2 short heater hoses and return car on the friday, i drive the car and find temp fault still there, ring monday tell dealer same problem still there, told need car back, they keep another week and say they cant get it to fault, return car back friday, drive car again only to find same issue still there, within a week of that it splits radiator 3, i ring again told they need car back thurs, fri so foreman can drive car over weekend to try replicate problem, i tell them no as they had car now for 2 weeks and should have by now fixed it, the dealer and holden tell me to drop the car back as just putting in another radiator wont fix it, dah, they had my car 2 weeks and found nothing , why suddenly do they now need my car another week, im now driving it with a spkit radiator and having to continuiously fill with water evey 15-20 minutes, now i say to holden i want replacement car as you guys have no idea whats wrong and how to fix it, thats denied, other than these issues i found the car to drive well, handle well and i run this on 95 octane fuel so economy is good, the boot is huge and the interiot looks a lot nicer than the ve interior, shame tgese problems are there to ruin what should be a good car.
Wish my vf bombadore was a good one – Have a 3.6 Calais V 2014. 50000kms- cracked radiator. Needed. 60000kms-ecu problems needed new one. 75000kms steering rack was stuffed new one needed. Love this car – This is a great car. I bought a 2015 SS Storm 6 speed manual, and added a Walkinshaw W310 kit to it from purchase. I use the car on weekends, going out during the week, and for long drives such as going to the snowy mountains or other road trips. Its comfortable on the road and easy to drive long distances. on the highway. Around town it varies more by what kind of driver you are. For me, its around 13.5L/100km. Never had any issues with it. I get it serviced by Holden under their capped price servicing scheme every 9 months as per its schedule. The only improvement I could find it should have had is a more modern infotainment system, as in Apple & Android synchronization technologies. Would definitely recommend this great Aussie built car to anyone.
I'm in love !!! – Just recently purchased my Holden Commodore 2015 SS Doesn't get any better than that!!! Everything about the styling to the Power!! My goodness the Power God I hope I keep my License lol Just jokes on a lighter note Just love this car, And I have owned many cars in last 35 years So pretty much see a great car when I see one Show details
The best left till last ! – How good is this Calais V with LS 3 V8, my daily driver that puts a smile on the dial every time behind the wheel. Can sit 3 mates and 4 sets of clubs comfortably in the boot on long trips or short haul with the family. My early 911 might handle better but the Calais is hard to beat as a powerful all rounder, no better value. Show details

Wouldn’t dream of any other car – I bought a beautiful red VF ssv redline about 2 years ago. Start of 2017. It caught my eye and every other vf that I looked at just didn’t appeal to me and I kept going back to the exact car that caught my eye from the moment I saw it. I knew it was the one! So I bought it. And it’s the best car I’ve ever owned in my life it was 2014 model. It has… Read more
so much power I loved it! So immaculate and fancy inside and out, handles very very well and never ever found one problem with it. It may be a V8 but it’s still the perfect car for that ideal family who love style and class. It has the special car seat safety harness attachments inside the seats too so extra safe for a baby!
Comfortable large performance sedan with attitude when needed – I bought this car second hand, one year old. Very comfortable and spacious, with a cavernous 495 litre boot. I take it to work daily and always look forward to driving it. Putting your foot down, the engine comes to life and you get pushed back in your seat with all the torque- your fuel economy will plummet though as the 6.2 litre LS3 engine can… Read more
gobble fuel when pushed. I average 8.5 litres/100km highway and 17 in town.
I get the car serviced once a year and so far have had no issues (just a year so far).
Very good fit and finish with no squeaks or rattles. Soft touch materials on some surfaces with a chunky, great feeling steering wheel and a snickety manual gear change. I love this vehicle- the only downside for me is the high fuel consumption when pushed.
Best family car – I’ve had my 2013 vf for just over two years now and I love it! I have four kids and they’re is plenty of room for them ranging in ages 10years-2years old. look like it from the outside but it’s seriously huge. I’ve driven multiple long trips with my kids between qld/nsw with ease, everybody’s so comfortable so it makes it a breaze. It’s our everyday purpose car, school runs, shopping, sporting activities, it’s very reliable and the only thing I’ve had to replace is tyres and a battery! We picked ours up sv6 2013 for $19,000 and it’s the best $19k I’ve spent!
Final Holden made in Aus! – Fantastic car! The last ever made in Australia and we are glad we bought one. Used daily for family travel this car provided comfort as well as luxury. Getting serviced every 6-8months is working well, still only on our first set of breaks but third set of tires, the down side to low profile tires. Show details

Nice car with all bells and whistles – Bought our Holden Calais VF in 2016 from Brighton Holden., best decision we made. We have had a BMW and other cars but this one ticked all the boxes. It is powerful, spacious, latest tech, drives well, mileage is good too. My wife loves it's self parking function and the Bose speakers Show details
Great car, but few problems – Was a great car to buy brand new. Just a few finish problems, the unit under the passenger seat is loose and allows water in. The passenger seat cover (standard) lifts at the base. The MyLink is super buggy but can live with it. Has plenty of room in all aspects, leg, boot and rear passenger. Gearbox was way too soft. Excellent car inside and out – I have had my VF Calais for almost 6 months and do not have a single complaint. Firstly the looks of the car are great from shape, detailing and 18 inch alloys. The inside is a nice leather interior with crome finishes all around to match the outside. Most importantly the car drives like a charm, super smoothe and has good power at 210kw for a V6. Great fun, last of a legend – The engine and sound really makes the ss redline. Great levels of technology for the price and age of the platform (though android auto would have been appreciated), it truely is the last of its kind.
