Beware - great rate from the start but after a month will bump you up – Super fast and easy process - just a month from start to finish. Great communication from the start and courtesy call after settlement to set up our online account. HOWEVER, once loan is established - your great rate will be bumped up .. RBA rate adjustment of 0.50% but my loan went from 1.79% to 2.94% Show details

Terrible internet banking! – Although the interest rate was good and the settlement process was easy, there are lots of problem with their online banking. in last month almost every day the system has been down from midnight until 8 or 9 in the morning. I had a few of bank transfers from my other banks to offset account rejected because their system was down . One of the… Read more

scheduled transactions from my offset account to my other credit card account didn't go through on the scheduled date and I found it just a couple hours before due time and managed to call several times to have it done .I was lucky my credit card didn't charge interest on me . A high school student can design a better website. I even can't download list of my transaction and so many more problems. Hope they do something about this.

I have a few loans with Homestar & I am most disappointed in the recent RBA rate cut not being passed on immediately. I sent them a message 2 weeks ago via their website to see what their explanation for this was in plain english, but alas no response..... most other Banks passed this rate cut straight away to their customers. It is frustrating to know that previously when the RBA rates were increased Homestar were very quick to pass on the increase. Referring to their website which states "By listening and understanding what’s important to property owners, we’ve developed a customer focused approach that helps thousands of property owners feel in control and save money every day" It seems what they say & what they do are two very different things...... It will be interesting to see if any further interest rate decrease/s will be passed on immediately or will they come up with some other excuse not to pass that on also? Frustrated & annoyed customer :(

applying for a refinance that Homestar could not loan me what I needed, and I had to go to a broker. The broker found me a loan, but the new bank stuffed up and sent the mortgage discharge authority form to Homestart and not Homestar. This error was only discovered the week before settlement. I asked Homestar to expedite the discharge to minimise penalties and they obliged, and were ready within 7 days. I am very grateful to the discharge team for prioritising and expediting my discharge when it was no fault of their own but that of the other bank. Professional throughout the process, and they are literally my heroes as they saved me a bunch in penalties, only had to pay for three days in the end.

Good product, good service – I went through a process of refinancing my home loan with Homestar after my existing lender (Macquarie) offered an uncompetitive variable rate at the end of my fixed term. screening process, I dealt mainly with Geoff (a lending specialist), who was professional, pragmatic and helpful. I am grateful to Geoff for all his assistance with the various processes and hoops we had to jump through.

Ultimately we got full approval and I was prepared to sign on - but St George swooped in at the last minute and made an offer that was too good for me to pass up (5.64% with $2k cash back) so I didn't end up taking out the Homestar loan.

I can't attest to what the features and functionality of the loan itself would have been - but my experience of the application process was a broadly positive one and I particularly want to acknowledge Geoff, who was excellent to deal with.

I've been with Homestar Finance 2 times now and they have been ok. Mixed feeling. Pros: Online portal and app are easy to navigate. Good rate, good customer service. Competitive rate. Cons: No physical branch and support is not 24/7. Approval process is very lengthy and lots of back and forth (3-5 weeks). Can take a long time to get back to you if an issue arises or you have an enquiry. Show details

Homestar Finance took 2 days to advise they were passing on the interest rate cut - most banks did it within 2 hours of the RBA announcement. Homestar are not making the interest rate cut effective until mid June whereas with every other bank the rate drop is effective end May. It’s not systems as they raise interest rates quickly - it’s… Read more

greed. And lack of respect for their customers. They were probably hoping at least one other bank didn’t pass the rate cut on in full so they wouldn’t be the only one but were ultimately forced to pass on the full rate cut of 0.25%. Once Homestar get you signed up, they don’t care. BE WARNED.
