The build quality it typically excellent as you'd expect from Honda. Very robust and largely corrosion free even after 4 years of regular use. There are scratches and wear from normal use - But no structural or mechanical damage has occurred.

I hose down the mower after every use and replace the engine oil and air filter once a year. That is the only maintenance it requires to continue working faultlessly. I haven't had to replace any other parts on the mower...

If you are wanting a premium lawn mower that will serve you well for many years... I can recommend the Honda HRU19K1. It's reliable, mows easily and looks good too !!

After reading reviews about grass clogging issues I went to 'the mower place' in capalaba to get their opinion. My dad has been dealing with them for a while so I thought they were trustworthy. He advises the grass clogging issue in the Hondas only happen in wet grass. Well it's been a heat wave in Brisbane with no rain for two weeks. Mowed twice and both time the catcher schute clogs up. Went back to mower shop and saw the same salesman. The only support he could offer was spray WD40 down the schute. I just spent $700 on a mower that is meant to work, not lubricate the schute everytime I mow! I wasn't really happy with this answer and he just said he only sells them and repairs them. I would of thought they would have a rep from Honda that could be contacted when a customer Needs support. It's obviously a common problem as its all over this page. All I can suggest is stay away from these Honda mowers and 'the mower shop' so you don't get burnt like me. I'll be taking the problem up with Honda to try and get a solution.

Extremely happy with this mower – I have now owned the mower for around 8 years and I am very happy with it. I live in Cairns and it gets a fair bit of use. I change the oil, air filter, plug and blades every spring and have had very few issues with it. couple of niggles have presented themselves over that time. After only a couple of years, the powder coating on the handle blistered and lifted and the handle started to rust pretty badly. I covered it with good quality tape and that has fixed it. Also, the cable for the cutout lever pretty much seized after about 4 years, however removing it and soaking it in oil fixes it for several years. I've done it twice since I've owned it. Both of the issues may well be attributable to the fairly tough summer climate here. Overall, I'm glad I chose Honda.

runs beautifully.. only cause im such a stubborn person i thought to myself i still need to get a "Honda" mower it wouldnt be right if i didnt, from hearing everyone talk about how reliable and "nothing beats honda" oh how i was so wrong about that! made my first purchase yesterday 18:04:18 couldnt wait to try it out once i got home.. ill tell you.. ive never ever been so dissapointed in my entire life.. not only am i an apprentice carpenter im lucky to make about $600 a week.. i pretty much spent a week and two days worth of work to buy this piece of crap mower. manually if you don't want the auto propelling. This thing starts first pop. The catcher is huge and cuts through dirt if you let it. I love it but the wife thinks it's to complicated to use. That's what I say about the washing machine. Seriously it's worth every dollar.

Great enrty level mower – My second Honda mower after buying cheaper brand models over the years. Definitely worth the extra money. Never fails to perform on a small/medium lawn at holiday home. Is a little light weight for anything heavy duty but easy to maneuver compared to my other Honda self propelled heavy duty mower at home. Grass catcher – We have had two Honda mowers. The first for 21 years. New one is great and starts every time. The only frustration is the grass catcher, as grass gets caught between the steel rod and the soft catcher. It gets emptied many times during each mowing session. I love this machine – I've purchased one of these myself and absolutely love it. Easy to Control, great revs and they also catch well in the wet. Cuts the grass in no time – So easy to use. Cuts the grass super fast and doesn't make much noise so it doesn't distract the neighbours. This lawn mower is fantastic. Great mower, after a couple of fixes – To the people having catching and blocking issues, you need to increase the engine speed (adjust governor) and fit an extra 2 blades (4 in total) I can mow Kikuyu lawn in the rain with no blockages. Good mower, a bit heavy – The mower stars easily and cuts well. I haven't had any blocked chute issues mentioned in other reviews but I don't use the catcher. EDIT: After owning the mower for several months I have had the chute block up in long or wet grass. It's not a big deal for me but would be very frustrating if this was my main mower.

Got a bargain! – I was a bit worried at first...considering I purchased mine basically new yet 2nd hand but Im so glad I did!!! Loving the hose connection so I can clean under it without the spray back I use to get from my old briggs & stratton. Only thing there is an issue with, if you stop it soon after you start it, it seems to flood and will take at least 4 minutes to restart, this may been just a tuning issue however, I should take it back to the dealer.

the catcher clogs up and the dealer had to install another two blades and increase the revs to fix it. Also, there is a piece of metal sticking out from the handle (safety grip) which constantly hits and bruises my legs. In summary, the engine is great quality but the rest of the mower (catcher, shute, handle) is poor quality. If I had my time again, I'd just get a less expensive mower from Bunnings. Disappointing that the Honda quality isn't there any more.

Love this mower. It works a treat! – I got an extra two blades attached to my mower when I purchased it. It starts without much effort and every time. I love the catcher and how it operates. The mower is heavy when turning, but it cuts really well. My old mower had an adjustable choke, but this one is either on or off so when you let go of the handle it just stops. good idea.

Once at home I was keen to try it out. I had a look through the owners manual to check how to start the mower and could not follow the instructions . Chapter 6 only mentioned that when the drive clutch is released the engine will stop.

I could not figure how to start it. The mower shop was shut by this time on a Saturday. Eventually I figured it out, you must push the lever in to start. My problem is I am not happy with this as I was not informed and every time I wished to remove anything in the path of the mower and once releasing the lever, the mower would stop. There is no mechanism in place, holding the lever in place. The mower stops every time you remove your hands. I thought this was a break to stop the mower from rolling, not stopping the engine.

On page 3. of the owners manual a picture of the mower is illustrated and it mentions /K1 SHOWN. This illustration shows a blade control button. This is clearly shown in your owners manual booklet.

I am not happy with this mower. I rang the mower shop on Monday 4/07/16 and they said that’s the way they are (safety measure). This was not explained to me when purchasing. I believe the product is not what I expected.

Not like they used to make them! – Some 6 years ago I purchased a new buffalo after the old one finally packed it in after getting a good 20 years out of it. I've just returned it to the local dealer after experiencing some serious issues - not sure if I'll be a honda person any more!
