Belying the smooth talk on their ads, the Hoover Action that I have is disappointing. It boasts a HEPA filter, etc. and has that power head, alright. It looks really good and solid, too. But I hate taking it out because every single time, there is trouble. The dust receptacle has assembly parts that are flimsy and breakable and its fit into the… Read more

base is not user-friendly. There were many times I have had to lug it back to its place in the cupboard and lug it back out another day to try my luck again. Also, being bagless, it's a devil of a job to empty the collected dust into a bin. I have to take it all the way into the yard and reach down into the bottom of the kip, wearing a mask to escape the cloud of dust that rises up, but Idk what could be the solution for that, except to go bagged, which has its own problems, hence the invention of the bagless. But the worst problem of all is that fallen human hairs on the carpet get wound extremely tight into the tooth-like parts of the quite powerful brush head and stop the machine. I have cut my fingers every time I pull them out because they get that TIGHTLY wound, it's unbelievable, because of the powerful spin. Also, the first and only time I made bold to wash the parts, I regretted it. I had to lug it all the way to the shop that I bought it from, Godfrey's, Liverpool, Sydney and to this day I don't understand what had gone wrong. But the woman there fixed it, doing this and that, and she did not charge me for it. I had to buy a new filter or something. All in all, though a very good product otherwise, it's an a very unsatisfactory eternal source of tension in my house. It's s not something I can throw away for anything else in the market, because there's no guarantee that others could be better. In short, the vacuum cleaner industry leaves much to be desired. May be no better design is possible, but then it should not be so highly priced. However cutting edge, a machine is only as good as its weakest parts. There seems to be no VC for the domestic market that's even close to perfect. Talking about 'industrial', the commercial carpet cleaner, whom I hire once in six months for $400, also does a dud job, leaving sticky residue on the surface after his treatment with so-called detergent and deodorant. I need a large, household steam-cleaner for my carpets, but I don't know where to find it. No wonder people are ripping out their carpets and going for floor tiles, which would be such a shame if I am also forced to do that because a clean carpet can be such a pleasure, especially in winter. Edit: I wish manufacturers were as professional in the products they sell as this site, Product Review, is professional and user-friendly in the service/s it provides. Thank you, PR!

Best hair vacuum ever – Bought from Godfrey's and asked what a great vacuum for cleaning hair was. This vacuum didn't disappoint. The spinning head makes cleaning hair a breeze Show details

Once I found them - the REAL Hoover (Godfrey's) They were magnificent – I wrote a scathing review. Hoover got back to me immediately. I was shocked. I had been trying to contact their customer service for over a year. They informed me that they were NOT part of Hoover Australia or Hoover FaceBook, both of which I had inundated with queries regarding design faults in my Action Vacuum. I did as they suggested and… Read more ·  1

contacted Godfrey's, whom I had purchased from in 2021. They asked me to bring it in, which I did. They were nothing but gracious. I took it in today and was told what the problem was. And how to avoid it in the future. It was a human error, he could see by taking the vacuum apart that it had been barely used but it had been over-filled so that the filters could not work well enough. Dust and dog hair from the first ever vacuum, hidden where dust and dog hair should not go. Okay, I was abashed. It wasn't me... it was an over-zealous vacuum queen who didn't know when to stop. I felt ashamed but he (I didn't get his name) did not make me feel bad because... shit happens. Hoover, once I got on to the right people - were upfront and honourable. Here I was thinking that yet another old reliable company had fallen into greed and now I am here stating that they are the real deal. They just need to somehow get their service department easier to find. DO NOT GO TO Hoover Australia or Hoover FB, there is no relationship. It's barking up the wrong tree. Go straight back to your Godfrey's or wherever - their brand is still excellent.

worst vacuum ever – I use the vac on hard and carpeted floors. Suction is ok but you can't get right to the edges. The power cord is shorter than any other I've owned, the hose twists and is hard to untwist. The action head is cumbersome and heavy, hard to remove from the hose part. In spite of its slimmish build it keeps snagging on door frames Show details

Worst vacuum I've ever had – Head broke after a week and machine blew up after just over a year. Suction was terrible Do not buy this vacuum. I bought a vacuum for half the price after the hoover blew up and it's sooo much better!

Very easy to use machine – I was sold this machine as being good for carpet floors with inside pets and easy to use for those of us with arthritis. It works well for all those reasons. I particularly like the powered floor tool, because I don't have to push it. It pushes itself, very effectively, which means I don't get back pain when vacuuming anymore. Thank you so… Read more ·  1

much for this machine. Just two things... It would be nicer to have a bigger dust compartment so it doesn't have to be emptied so often. And also, although the hose and tube don't become clogged, sometimes the dust and debris gets caught between the inside and outside of the barrel, causing blockages. Maybe a larger barrel could have the same size cyclonic device to make the gap bigger, if it would still work effectively like that.

My hoover is amazing, I recommend this little beast and 10/10 for results. Purchased at Godfrey's blacktown mega centre – Perfect on my carpet and hard floor, I turn the turbo off for hard floors but no height level adjustment required from one room to the next. Super easy to clean and maintain and I love the teal its a refreshing colour. Very compact will store easily, also the wand is generous in length. This model is designed for the consumer to maintain it… Read more ·  1

aswell. 2 year warranty fantastic!! If I had to give any unfortunate feedback I'd say the cord isnt very long but only if i had to I just love my hoover. No attachments and just the one head but as I saud it goes from room to room doing a lovely job. The vibration is so intense you don't need tools I've watched the turbo head vibrate dust and debris from crevices and straight into its path.

Major let down – We were very impressed when we saw this vacuum demonstrated, but as soon as we tried it at home we found it was useless unless using the powered head, and that would only work on carpets, not the hardwood floors. On hardwood floors it had very little suction at all. When vacuuming under furniture, it does not have the flexibility of our previous,… Read more

Not great – I like this vacuum cleaner's suction, it's fairly strong, but it continually falls over when vaccuming which is always frustrating...it's easy to take apart if you want to clean inside the vacuum and the filter part though, but I don't really like the tube attached to the vacuum as it flattens easily...it would be nice if there weren't heaps of flaws. Show details

The worst vacuum ever! – After our upright Dyson broke after 14yrs I headed to Goddreys and was sold this cleaner as it was easy to use and very powerful. This vacuum has never seemed to work properly, it gets tangled around your legs, it hurts your back and it keeps saying there’s a fault even though I’ve pulled it all apart and cleaned everything. I would not recommend this or ever buy another one - so should have spent the extra money getting another Dyson Show details

Great product but expensive if you need another headpiece – The vacuum does do its job that its suppose to do. However that is with the headpiece that comes with it. The headpiece that has the light flashing on it Without the main headpiece it isnt that great of a vacuum cleaner. I mean. Its suction almost goes. And I dont understand why there are always blockages with it. Its annoying. The dust almost… Read more

gets stuck in one area of the pipe/hose and it takes forever to come out. I spent a long time figuring why the light would come on thinking that it was the filter that needed cleaning when there was a blockage that was hard to get out. Also it cost 200 dollars for the headpiece if it stops working. And for it to be sent away for repairs it cost 50 dollars just to send away. For that one head piece that does all the work . So hence the reason for my 3 star review.

Powerful & compact – So far I'm loving this little vacuum, especially as it has the power head which makes it so easy you could almost do it with 1 finger & having 3 cats it pick up all the hair and the amount of dust collected totally surprised me. Great for our 2-bed carpeted apartment with dog – Great vacuum - picks up a tonne of stuff out of the carpet. Our 2-bed apartment is fully carpeted so we invested in this vacuum a few months ago and it works a charm. Picks up all of the hair from our long-haired dog. The carpet looks visibly much cleaner after a vacuum which we do a couple of times a week. Works on the tiled surfaces in our… Read more ·  1

The most versatile vacuum cleaner I have ever had – I don't often call into shopping mall based vacuum cleaner shops, so this was a first. Our treasured Shark vacuum cleaner died and needed replacement. I spent ages on the internet building a short list and then happened on the Hoover Action powerhead. The shop associate (Godfrey's) was extremely helpful and really understood my needs which were:… Read more

super compact yet powerful, easy to put away, long and retractable cord, motorised head, quiet when in use, good suction, bagless, stable when in use (ie. no tipping). Not too ugly. Well, the colour is a bit garish but every other box was ticked and more. The floor LED lights are bright and handy. We have 2 rooms of carpet, the rest wood and tiles. Perfect. Our old accessories fitted so I don't need Hoover's rather lightweight ones. Long hose, adjustable wand, comfy handle and so very easy to empty and clean. It is mid-range price-wise but good value due to its quality. My 2 year old grand-daughter can even use it. And it tucks away neatly into a very small space. Very happy with the choice (and got a trade in for the broken Shark as well).

Replaced it after 8 months – This vacuum is useless with so many design faults I don't believe that anyone at Hoover actually does the vacuuming. The power cord is too short, the pipe doesn't twist at both ends which kinks continually, the body of the vacuum is too low to the ground and tips over all the time, suction is poor, the dirt collector is too small. Show details

Does a great job of lifting dirt and dog hair out of the carpet – I was amazed when I first bought this vacuum at how much dirt a d dog hair it pulled out if my carpet on the first go, especially given that I'd just vacuumed the day before with my old vacuum. A year on and it's still performing just as well. It's light and easy to manoeuvre and it only takes a few seconds to remove and empty the barrel. Cleaning… Read more

the filter every few months is pretty straight forward too. The body of the vacuum does tip over if you catch the wheels on anything but I expect that's the same with all vacuums in this style.

Great little vacuum cleaner – I used to have a Dyson, but was totally blown away at how this little vacuum cleaner picked up so much dirt from my carpet. The only issue I have is the cord is to short have to use a extension cord have only had a week but I am very impressed with it especially for the price . The power head is amazing .  Show details

Difficult to empty dust container – No not so far. Powerhead does a fantastic job picking up dust and pet fur. Carpets look great but is a bit cumbersome. I have one major gripe, emptying the dirt cylinder. As per another reviewer it took longer to empty than it took to vacuum. As the suction is so powerful the dirt and dust is really compacted. Has been great! – Has a great suction and I like the light on the nozzle. My only con to it is that the length of the cord is shorter than I’d like, I’m always changing PowerPoints to vacuum other areas. It also has a small container so doesn’t hold much and I have to stop to empty it more often than I’d like. I’m surprised I haven’t blown it up from overfilling… Read more

it. It’s not the best on tiles or floorboards, but I don’t know if that’s a generic vacuum thing, blowing the debris backwards. The overall vacuum is great for a smaller house.

Strong suction but a few issues – Had to be talked into the power head as I've had issues in the past and was told that these wouldn't arise but they did. When you have hair like mine, akin to the wild Yeti of the Alps, it goes astray regularly. The power head likes to eat said long and curlies and then that can cause a blockage in the power head. It also does not like shag… Read more

carpet.... now I am not talking 70's shag here but the more acceptable shag from today. I have to switch the head off to stop it getting caught in the rug. The suction is great though, and it does hard floors and carpets with ease. My other concern is the need to clean the cylinder and filter every two rooms, or the full light comes on. This is freaking annoying. There has to be a better way around this. Apart from that, it performs well and so it should. It cost the equivalent of a weekend at a swank hotel.

This is a great vaccum – This is the best vaccum we have owned it has a spinning head witch is great for picking up hair and even dirt that gets into the carpets. Its very powerful not like a lot of vaccums that don't pick up hardly anything it is also a bagless vaccum as I hate mucking around empting bags or changing bags. its well worth the extra few dollars we had to pay. Highly Recommended.  Show details

Decent VC – I had a Dyson before but when it quit I decided I didn't want to spend that much again. The Hoover does a great job - probably as good as the Dyson in suction power.
