I have the Hoover Gladiator Powerscrub Deluxe Carpet Shampooer purchased from Godfreys, and I am very disappointed in this product. Everytime I use it it trips the safety switch on the house! I have had it to Godfreys for repairs 3 times now to fix this fault with the last being 5 weeks ago and they put a new motor in it. I have spent a lot of money having it repaired to supposedly fix this problem and today when I used it for the first time after the new motor it does the same thing! Our electrician happened to be here doing another job and he checked the plug on the machine and he tells me there is an imbalance between the active to earth and the neutral to earth - how can this happen has it been there since new as i have had this problem for a while?

Hi Annie!!Glibal Grandad Max Harding gene in NZ ! This is a tricky one! Short answer is get a Hoover to supply another machine. They will do this . If problem occurs again it's your house earth system at fault ( perhaps ground peg wires broken ?) or rcd flick out switch has too many outlets connected via multiplugs etc for the amperage capacity of the breaker switch in your pwer board . Generally speaking Hover product electrical switch gear has few problems! The new motor and still p
Still problems backs up my diagnosis. It is possible there is a power cord wiring problem where the earth and neutral phase are compromised in some way . Try your machine in some elses house ! If it works ok there it's your house wiring at fault ! If the machine trips their house breaker it's at fault! Get Hoiver to give you a new one anyway ! Cheers Global Grandad Max NZ

My Hoover twin tank gladiator deluxe carpet shampooer brushes do not turn. Is there a belt driving these brushes? If that is the likely cause then can I purchase a spare? Is it easily accessible? I can find no manual online. Thanks for any help John B

Hi John ! Global Grandad Max Harding here in NZ! Lift up the shampoo machine and check if any fishing line or string item such as a carpet remnant has not jammed up the brush heads. If they are clean and turn freely then the problem is the drive motor under the brush head assembly . You could remove the Phillips screws and check out all is ok FTEs removing the brush head assembly but if you you are not a DIY person take it to a Hoove dealer. Never had any trouble with mine so no info there! Hope this helps cheers GG Max NZ .
I had to purchase a wertheim today while i decide on my carpets future and who will best keep it allergy free as possible. I gave always bought the Hoover shampoo machines love love love them till i got the gladiator. Im pretty handy but i tell u I watch that water flying out the bottom of machine power cord sitting in it....from clean water tank. Afterr many adventurous investigations from reading different solutions i used mine weekly its a big part of maintaining our health issues. I notice a pattern if i use the connections it initiates a fast drain and with normal use its fine for 5 mins then starts dumping the clean water tank. I feel like less attachments less drain holes and I'll invest in a Bissell for a change when its affordable but the wirtheim will do for now its very underwhelming in comparison to my gladiator its like stallion to donkey but i just can't work out the leak and its an electrical issue aswell with dumping on the cord. And annoys me when things break just out of warranty. 2 yrs is lengthy but the price we pay i think lifetime garentee really and should not b broken at 2 yrs. If was a 5o buck one I think oh well u know but i invested in Hoover for years so its a bold move for me. Reading everyone's same issue and not reading many solutions was enough to say nope . Gladiator was so masculine im so disappointed I have to change

Is this machine good for pet stains and smells?
It depends for old stains and smells its the stain smell removing product that you use but for new ones yes for sure i have two kittens right now and mine has been working over time not a smell or spot left

Machine with the same styled brushes in the USA ("PowerScrub 50" written in green) has an Amazon review complaining about rust breaking these machines quickly. Google "Company is oblivious to the issues with SpinScrub Brushes" to see ("2,489 people found this helpful". !! ). Anyone had issues with the head jamming up on this machine?
No! Any machine you do not clean out, clean off brushes or clean out fluid tanks will have the same problem ! Never seen or had rust anywhere on my Hoover ! Includes mobile stairs car ckeaning kit as well . Suggest the negative feedback is owner / operator laziness and lack of maintenace tbe problem! Had mine and the matching shampoo machine 2 years now ,is still like new ! Says in the manual to clean it out thoroughly after every use! Easy to do ! Better tham tigers I gave had too! Vac is 10 times better than my Dyson I had to maintain operate and ckean out ! Shsmpoo mavhine as good as commercial one ! Lifts the carpet off the underlay and washes that as well ! Hunting fishing household with many pets! No problems !
These hoovers are grade 3+ plus machines ! Means the higher the rated number the better the machines are ! Ask before buying any machine ! Also check out has replacement filters back up parts available and good warranty ! Pay peanuts you get monkey machines ! Global Grandad Max
Thanks Max ! Although I'm not sure what a 3+ plus machine is (no hits even on the Google) !!! Anyways, does make sense the machine should last if cared for properly! But in the end decided on a more reasonably price multi-purpose cleaner !!! Even assuming this machine is fine if well treated, for me the deal breaker was that the Godfrey's price is just ridiculous compared to the same level Hoovers on Amazon USA !!! Darn it, I've gone and typed too many of these exclamation mark things!

As far as I can see the brand name "Hoover" is really just a Godfreys only thing in Australia. 500 on their current special (which I think are frequent). Looking myself, which is why I posted the question about rusty heads

As fair as i know that price was on oz bargan in 2015 ,myself I payed about $800 and i didn't see them any cheaper at that time
Kathryn , no such special deals here in NZ! I payed $640 for mine in a package deal with a vac same brand ! To get such a good product fir that price is a real bargain ! The design makes it easy to service the fluids and wash out the collection container quickly and easily ! Pay the money ! You will never regret it! Cheers Global Grandad NZ .

How well does it clean hard floors as I was looking to buy this to replace my SpinSrub FloorMate? The FloorMate cleaned extremely well but has a design flaw which allows the water to splash up into the motor and then burns out.
Not sure you can as it says it will scratch the floor and its not recommended .I haven't tried that myself

Yes I bought from Godfreys. It was in a bundle with a vacuum too but I think the price was around $600. So happy I bought it!
Mine also was purchased from Godfreys at around $600. They are considerable cheaper than that now $278. I do notice that some are available through Gumtree from time to time. If you do purchase one - just a word of advice in relation to cleaning the carpet (this advice is from a professional) rather than using the auto shampoo mixture on the machine I am told it is best to make up a mixture of water and carpet shampoo in a sprayer ( 5 -7 litre.) and spray the carpet first and then simply using the wash action - wash the carpet. I use Agar Carpet Shampoo (5 litre.) which I purchase from Godfreys. It is definitely a cheaper option than buying in smaller quantities. Hope this helps.
