No information on how to clean cone filter. First machine kept stopping – In the instruction manual booklet it says to remove the cone filter turn it anti clockwise clean then replace by turning clockwise. This does not make sense because that is not how the cone filter comes out of the machine. I called Hoover got an angry girl who had no idea about how to clean the cone filter and hoover have no video online either… Read more

which would be a great idea. Also the first machine kept stopping and i had to return it for another. I cannot recommend this product with allthe faults and zero after sales sevice.

Goodness lifts the carpet off the floor! – Very strong suction. On max setting, it required a bit of muscle workout to move it. Lifted the pile, cleaned very well, picked up fine particles (my old vac was a very cheap KMart). Very pleased to have a fit for purpose vac. Excellent value. I think, while the cordless are also easy to use, this corded one seems to really have at that giving and giving as noted in previous review. Very happy with it. Show details ·  1

A strong sucker! – I picked this one out of roadside rubbish yesterday. I checked that the motor was working and it had good suction sans collection barrel. So worth a look to find out why it was trashed. Today I dismantled the barrel and found it blocked with hair and leaves. It also appeared that it had been used to suck wet material as it had dried mud… Read more

throughout the barrel and the inner vortex separator. I washed and cleaned the components, which was difficult as the silver spiral part doesn't separate from the vortex section. I had to use small brushes and a high pressure water jet to get as much of the gunk as possible from the innards.

Usually, I just find the filters blocked but they were in reasonable condition.

Fair dinkum, there are so many people who are seriously technically challenged and lack problem solving skills. I have noted there are negative reviews of this vacuum here. They should visit junk shops to find a 1950's Electrolux barrel vacuum with a reusable fabric dust bag (as pictured).

As far as I can see, this vacuum is an above average unit from the many I have reclaimed from junk heaps (which mostly need new filters). For $299, it would want to be good.

I gather it might be below average for pet and human hair - or might need more regular detailed cleaning in such circumstances.

For crying out loud, I wish people would RTFM when they buy a piece of 21st century kit.

I will be keeping this one. A nice freeby!

A fantastic product for a very reasonable price – We bought this vacuum cleaner as a replacement for the earlier Hoover Hurricane. It is rated as having slightly less power consumption but it's superior design results in a greatly improved suction. It is a bag-less, cyclonic machine and, thus, the suction only diminishes slightly as it fills. In fact, the suction is so strong that you might find… Read more

that using the slide power adjuster is sometimes preferable. The job of emptying and cleaning of the machine is simple but, as with any bag-less, needs to be done properly. Having had an industrial cleaning business in the past, I can honestly say that this is a very impressive machine. It is far superior to some far more expensive models/brands. The only negative with this product is that, for some reason, it comes with only a very rudimentary combination brush/crevice tool - we had to purchase a better set.

Keeps giving and giving – Bought it almost 5 years ago and it is still going strong. Suction power is still incredible. At some point last year it felt like it was losing power so I replaced the filters (very cheap) and after doing that it was like brand new. Show details ·  1

I LOVE it!! – I have been through so many vacuums in my time that I can’t even name half of the ones I have bought. I saw the Hoover online with some great reviews and because of the covid lockdown I knew I had to buy something based on reviews alone. The vacuum was also on sale which was great but even without the sale it was really reasonably priced. I have… Read more ·  1

spent $1000s on vacuums over the years only to have them not have the strength to pick up everything in the carpets or to clog up really quickly. I can happily say I have finally found a vacuum that I am happy with that actually WORKS! I will never spend huge amounts of money on the ‘big fancy brands’ again. This one is a winner for me

1800Watt, Very Good Suction Vacuum Cleaner – Very good suction on carpet, timber floors and even if you have pets inside. Maintenance and taking care is very important of any products, washing and drying or replacing filters would keep the vacuum cleaner for pro long use with good suction. Highly recommend this powerful 1800Watt Hoover Vacuum cleaner Show details ·  1

Terrible made in China product – Only after using it for less than 3 months the suction level drops. Cleaned many times, nothing helps. This vacuum frustrates enormously. Vacuums back from the 80s were much bother. The Hoover company and brand lost my respect and trust. Show details

At least it looks OK! – The Tornado worked well to start with on rugs, carpet and timber floors, but I could not recommended it for anywhere dusty!!! After a year, it developed an overheating problem even with regular (expensive) filter replacement. The motor switched on/off every few seconds/minutes. As a test, I tried running it without the canister, hose or filters… Read more

in place and the problem persisted. The air coming out the exhaust was still very hot. Removing a foam wrap from around the motor (noise insulation, maybe?) seems to have fixed the problem for now. Our 20 year old Panasonic which had been relegated to the workshop and totally mistreated has now been returned to domestic service and I'll buy another one of those. The Hoover is definitely not worth the $99 I paid.

Excellent – Fantastic works exceptionally well on a tiled floor. Picks all the pet hair, it's quite, light weight. It sucks better than my dyson upright, only downside is the short cord but that's easily fixed with extension cord. Dust bin holds alot no need to empty before finishing the house even with all the pet hair which is bad now as it's summer one big… Read more ·  1

Great unit! – Previously had a Samsung vacuum which was a great unit, but if had electronic controls on the handle, which after a while broke, so could only control it by plugging it in at the wall outlet to turn it on. Eventually it literally blew up. I wasn't sure what to expect from the Hoover tornado. It didn't really seem to give the appearance of being… Read more

When I got it home though, I was, and still am, very impressed! Great suction, easy to move around, great filter, and nice big chamber. I can do my whole apartment and still not need to empty the chamber.

Very pleased with this guy.

Amazing performance....superb value! – Got one of these from Godfrey's a few days ago.....after being absolutely sick to death of vacuum cleaners dying after two-three years with the usual 1 year warranty.....We calculate we went thru nearly $1500 worth of vacuum cleaners in less than 10 years.....So I am very over purchasing them - changed tactics - buy cheap ones - and replace as… Read more ·  2

needed.....We had a VAX high-end, two Samsungs ( a cheapo, and a high-end model), and some sort of professional Italian brand (not Delonghi/Miele) yellow industrial bag type - a large canister on microl wheels that was supposedly to be used as a vacuum by the pro-cleaners for office buildings etc (did have a long cord)....LOL....It was rubbish.....I hated it from the day we bought it, and when the motor melted - that was a good day.....It toppled over running over its own power cord....

Anyway, I only paid $99 plus $7 shipping from ebay for this Hoover diamond (Godfrey's was the actual seller - they sent me the invoice by email)......

First the downsides....if you want to call them that.....The power cord is short and as others commented...easily solved with an extension cord....which I always use anyway with all the others.....The vacuum hose is shorter than many others. In my opinion this is a positive....it is long enough to work well for us, but not so long it twists and twirls and cuts off the suction.....and takes a few seconds to un-twist.....hoping the motor has not been harmed.....It has filters that need cleaning vs the bagged vacuums...but they are easily accessible and no dramas at all.....

After a few uses - this Hoover is simply a gem....It is VERY strong on the suction front, and the floor attachment has a gutsy stiff brush...that can be raised or lowered......So dog hair comes up by the bushels.....that our expensive $400 LG electric broom WITH turbo head - left behind on our carpets - the day before. This Hoover is the best I have driven - ever. One major plus for me is the wheels are big enough that it is not easy to tip over.....also the metal pipe to the floor brush is extendable and suits me operating it, as 6'2". Tall and short people will be happy with it One of the old Samsung upholstery brush heads we kept fit this perfectly and cleaned our couches and chairs the best ever.......This Hoover does come with a brush attachment...but it is quite small....That said, I used it in the car and it was magnificent for that purpose - cleaning off all the dog hair easily.....For pure value and performance this gets 5 stars from me.......I am curious about the longevity....But it can't be worse than the name brands we have already wasted lots of money on......$99....I am so pleased if it dies after warranty - I will get another one.....I refuse to waste hundreds on any vacuum now.......

Great-for six months only – At first this Hoover worked well, really powerful and quiet. After 6 months it has lost all suction and overheats. We’ve had a problem with it overheating when we first bought it and had to return it for another. The replacement worked well initially but now we’ve got the same problem coupled with zero suction despite cleaning the filters. This vacuuum lulls you into a false sense of security!  Show details

really good for the price – great vacuum i first bought it when i lived in a tiny apartment and it was used on floor boards and one carpeted room and it was so quick great suction power.. now in a much larger house and still using it and it is still going strong. only issue would be pulling it right apart to clean but you dont have to do that too too often  Show details

Excellent machine - couldn't do without it – I have been using my Tornado for a couple of years now - bought it for $299. Bought it originally because of our husky, and wanting a large capacity bagless for easy emptying of LOTS of husky hair. It works extremely well for that purpose. So well in fact, I bought another 2 for family when they were on sale for $99. Yes, the cord is only short,… Read more

but as mentioned, you only need an extension cord and that problem is fixed. I bought the power head ($49) for hairy carpets and it works a treat on hard floors as well, so no need to change the head. Heaps of power, reasonably quiet, sucks really well, filters are easily cleaned and replaced. Excellent product and so light to tow around. Happy shopper!!

Excellent machine for the price – This vacuum cleaner was on sale for $99 reduced, they say from $299. It is an excellent machine, sucks well and is not noisy. The main drawback is a short mains cord, only 4.5 m, but I can use an extension lead with it and then it is fine.

Great little tornado – Love this little machine could even say better than our dyson, purchased this from godfrey's for $99 for upstairs, we have wooden floors upstairs and its fantastic, great suction and doesn't scratch the floors, only complaint is lead isnt that long but with an extension lead its fantastic. Love the bagless cylinder easy to open to empty.  Show details

Excellent product – Very very happy with this product. The vacuum has strong suction power and glides across the carpets and floors. I use this on all my floors and believe it is worth every cent. It is easy to manoeuvre around the house and very compact. Very happy with the overall performance.  Show details

Only good when new. Loses suction significantly after a while – When I bought it I was very happy. Sucked up much more than my old vacuum. I find the filters hard to clean and made of poor quality materials. Now it is barely usable even for wooden floors. Positive - light weight and inexpensive. Negative - Poor suction after even a short period. Limited attachments. I don't think I will buy a Hoover again.  Show details

Vacuums so well – The suction on this vacuum is just amazing, it just sucks up everything in slight. I personally think its way better than any Dyson vacuum I have previous owned which is three over the last six years. When I first got it I used it to clean the carpets and so much junk such as pet fur just came up like crazy.  Show details

Not to bad – The suction on this little vacuum is unbelievable its great but in saying that the head on it it is so light when you are vacuuming you push forward and it lifts up off the floor its really annoying ive got a 2 bedroom apartment so it does the job i like the idea of it being bagless makes it easier i wish the power cord was abit longer on it but for $100 you get what you pay for.  Show details

Powerful Little Vac – This is just basic vacuum and pretty cheap on special too ($99) I think they have given it an appropriate name in "Tornado" because when you tun it on it really screams and it creates a spinning dust effect as the bowl fills up. Good for the price on sale – I bought this last year , with price in mind , it was a impulse buy when a sale was going on in Godfreys . they are good for the sale price, but not sure how long would they last , do not clean as good as dyson but good enough for 1 bed apartment .  Show details

Fair price at $99 – First impression is that it's quieter than a $49 model from K-Mart but only time will tell how long that lasts. However, the hose and the cord are too short and the cord gets worryingly warm with just 20 mins use ! But the more annoying gripe is the brush attachment which is little more than a throw away toy. Pathetic. This is no $299 machine reduced to $99. It's a $99 machine at most.  Show details

The Little Tornado – Purchased the Hoover Tornado last week as a spare vacuum for upstairs, we have a dyson downstairs, we are so impressed by this vacuum I could even go as far as saying better than our dyson. doesn't push it away like the dyson does sometimes, the brush head is long enough for our hard floors so it wont scratch, the only issue I would have is the lead isn't as long as the dyson I have to keep moving it to another socket. 1 years warranty and Godfreys deal with the warranty. Very impressive for the price. Recommend.

Does what it says it will – When I moved into an apartment with carpet instead of wood floors, I needed a vacuum but I was pretty broke after paying bond etc on the new rental. mediocre – bought this on special (as advertised - 99aud). it's very loud, suction is fair? find that i have to run over the same spot twice to pick up fluff. I have long hair and noticed the hair gets caught in the "mini" wheels in the rectangular suction part...I find the wheels unnecessary they serve no function and it's a pain getting the hair out (can't remove all of it). does better on tiles.  Show details
