everything so far. The follow-up service has been fantastic and any little issues are being taken care of as they arise. The build itself was quick and very smooth with only a couple of issues, which were rectified without hassle. Getting to the build start was a bit more of a drawn-out process, with it taking almost 12 months to get from initial deposit to signing of contracts. This was a little frustrating because it meant we missed out on the $10,000 bonus upgrade, plus we had to pay for a rental the whole time.
Overall, we are very happy to be in our home and if we were to ever build again, we wouldn't hesitate to do so with Hotondo Homes Torquay.
Great home, nice staff – We've been in our home almost 2 months now and loving it. and didn't like in a house, so we felt we were organized. It took way longer to proceed through the stages than we ever anticipated. We thought long and hard of pulling the pin at one stage.
The plans of our house itself weren't overly different from their display home in Torquay. We added a balcony, extended the garage, added a 4th bedroom and a study. They can go full custom, but once we saw their display home, we didn't really need to change much. The kitchen is the highlight, it's huge with space everywhere. In fact there's space everywhere throughout the house, and well thought out in this aspect.
The interior and colour selection with Margie was easy. She's super knowledgeable around design and very helpful in what would and wouldn't work. There was very little follow up from our selections morning with her (in a good way), and she seemed to nail all our choices - a good sign that she understands and listened to our needs.
The build itself.. Well it took forever to get moving. Our subdivision had titled and had neighbours moving in before we'd ever started. We understand they have specific tradesmen they use, which is great for quality control, however they have a lot of jobs on the go, so maybe that pool of tradies could expand a little to keep things moving. In saying that, the real shining light of the whole process with Hotondo was our site supervisor, Mick. We didn't have him for the initial part of the build, but once he was transferred onto our job we felt at ease with everything. He come in and fixed things that the previous site supervisor had overlooked or done incorrectly, and they were things we would never had seen. He always seemed busy but always had the time to show us through when we wanted. If he didn't feel something was a good fit for our house either as a material or aesthetically, he'd call, explain why he didn't think it'd work and ask whether we wanted it changed. The answer was usually yes as we trusted his experience. So if you're reading this, maybe ask to get Mick as your supervisor.
Overall, the slow process is our only annoyance.. And now that we're in, we'll quickly forget that as the house is beautiful with a quality finish. The design is open and feels like there's so much natural light with plenty of space that is used well. Our block isn't overly large and was the reason we went with a double story to maximise space, which we feel our Hotondo house does perfectly with plenty of backyard still for the kids to enjoy.

or call. The workmanship is very good (my husband is a carpenter, so very picky!). Our construction did take longer than anticipated, however, we built during a building boom in the area. We were aware of costs throughout, and were tempted several times by upgrades. Our final cost was higher than estimated, but not outside of our budget. We love our home and thank Hotondo for their workmanship and professionalism.
Could not fault Hotondo Homes Torquay on their desire to accomodate all of our desires and needs within a budget – Design and overall heating and cooling options were fully considered before construction. after. The selections team were friendly and helpful, and we were impressed with their flexibility around meeting times. We would like to make particular mention of our building supervisor Grant who was OUTSTANDING throughout the entire process. His excellent communication and attention to detail made everything so stress-free, and we really felt as if he had our best interests at heart the whole way along.
A few areas for improvement would be to have greater clarity in the pricing, particularly when making building design modifications and chopping and changing between selection options. We probably made this process fairly difficult with the amount of changes we asked for, but still felt a little confused at times with how pricing was worked out. This is not a criticism of anyone in particular, but possibly the processes in place. There were also a few fairly average products that could be taken off the selections list which we have already raised.

them. During the build we lived an hour away, but received updates and photos often, they finished ahead of time and the quality was 5 stars. We got the exact build we wanted, right down to the kitchen sink that we we're very picky on and surveillance system that we provided and we were helped by the designer the whole time to stay on budget. There were only minor defects, that Hortondo picked up before we did an addressed promptly and 5 months in, everyday one of us mentions how much we love this house. After seeing some of the neighbours homes and getting feedback on their experiences, I am so glad we built with these guys.

Grant was amazing, he was contactable when needed and provided a great level of access to our home throughout the build process. The show room staff were always very helpful with returning calls, progressing invoice payments etc. There was a high level of detail focused on the finishes which was important to us. I felt considered at all stages, and respected, even though my project with them was on the smaller/budget side. to have a car crash into our house causing structural damage and Peter came around during the weekend to secure our property and make it safe even though our insurance could not send people to do this until a few days later - this is just one example of PJ Scott Homes going above and beyond what is required of them. PJ Scott Homes ultimately repaired our home to the level that the repairs are unrecognizable (as it should be).

How good is this builder, we had an issue with our home which was built circa 9 years ago and instead of arguing "out of warranty etc" which a lot of other builders might have been inclined to do P J Scott sent their foreman around and a few days later had 2 men on the job to fix our problem to our complete satisfaction.
