Mothballs – If I can't access naphthalene or camphor; flakes or balls, my woolens will be destroyed by moths and silverfish. They run out and need replacing too. I will source them wherever I can. Show details

Why has this product been discontinued – Why has this product been discontinues it does protect our woolens also we live in the country and it does deter mice and rates from making such a mess in our tractors sheds sprinkling the old naphthalene fakes in the cabin. around the shed saved a lot of money Please consider bringing back on the market the people who use this product know how to use it with out harming any humans. I can't live without Naphthalene Flakes protection!!! – Naphthalene Flames have protected my woollen clothes for the last 70 years and my mother's before this. I have searched everywhere in New Zealand and now I'm here in Australia I find them nowhere to be found. How can such a value, easy to use and 100% reliable product be taken off the market ? ? Has the world gone crazy!!! WHO MAKES… Read more

DECISIONS LIKE THIS AND FOR WHAT REASON? ? ?

Of late I have never seen so many moths around my home and now I know why - somebody in high places has made another ill founded decision without much thought or consideration. Now moths are reigning free and we are the looser with our woollens being eaten and we have nothing to stop them and protect our homes. INCREDIBLE! ! ! !

Protecting old books made of soft, fragile paper pages – The best thing for sprinkling along bookshelves behind the books to stop silverfish having gourmet feasts at night. The naphalene and moth balls are not as effective on open book shelves.

You have got to be kidding me – My mother always used Napthalene flakes and moth balls. Rest her soul. 9 Children and not one of us was ever poisoned. Ratsak is still available to buy in boxes of pellets. hmmmm, which is the most toxic I wonder.

This product is excellent – Been to many shops but cant find this product supply in W.A. The naphalene and moth balls are the only killer of silver fish that I know of.. please let me know the nearest stockist .

Only product that works – I have been using Napthalene in various form for years. The only product that keeps the POSSUMS, RATS, MICE & GHECKOS OUT OF MY CEILING SPACE and OTHER PARTS OF MY HOME. They dont eat it they hate the smell Now the Nanny state has taken it away because it is ' Dangerous ' !!! But you can still buy other products at the supermarket like CAUSTIC SODA

Brilliant product – Hovex Naphthalene sachets are brilliant. Last time I bought them I purchased two lots. Just as well because I cant get them anywhere now. Why are they no longer available? Nothing else comes even close in effectiveness.

Surely NOT!! What absolute OVERKILL!!!! – We have used Napthalene flakes and moth balls all our lives, and they are excellent for management of silver fish, moth, and other small pests in MANY situations. Will not SOMEBODY with "authority" show some commonsense and have Napthalene sachets or even better crystals / powder made available again? There is simply NO other substitute! I am an "old" Pharmacist and sold them for yonks, NEVER had an "incident report".

What a shame they are gone! – Shame you can't buy the flakes anymore:( The best alternative that I have found is naphthalene balls - available on ebay and still legal - you can place them in small bags yourself to store with your clothes etc. I use them to store in my piano to stop the moths eating the felt.

This was perfect - don't want to live without it in my wardrobes! – Hovex Naphthalene sachets - cant believe they are not available any more! They are the perfect thing to combat silverfish and moths and were locally produced. Compared to many other products on the market, I thought this was a safe and economic product, when used as directed. I am very disappointed that this product is no longer available.… Read more

Alternative products did not have the same result. Mothballs for me are not a pleasant smelling option. Bring Hovex Naphthalene Sachets back!

Long Term Storage – You are right about a Nanny State. No one is allowed to exercise any kind of common sense unless the Governing bodies ordaines it. As I am leaving my home for who knows how long I really really need the nepthalene flakes to store my clothes in the garage to ward off mice, moths, and other nasties. Why is it I can place rat baits around, let off… Read more

copious amounts of the insect bomb gases, and yet cannot put a few Nepthalene flakes in my clothes in a locked Garage. Did some child get into a box of flakes because some parent was not being attentive and had them where they could be consumed?

YEP lets take them off the market because the consumer cannot be trusted to use common sense!!!

How ridiculous – I have used the sachets for years and now find they have been taken off the market. Can't believe it. Surely we could still use them knowing they may not be safe as I have safely used them for years, as did my mum and her mum too. Bring them back.

Please bring back the hover sachets – I have been to a half a dozen shops looking for the hovex sachets and am so disappointed I can no longer buy them. I have used this product for years and found it the best on the market. These inferior products that have replaced the sachets are expensive and useless. At least with the sachets there was 10 in container and now you get 2 in a box… Read more

the only product that really worked was substituted with one that is not good enough – Without doubt the sachets of naphthalene were the best product Hovex ever produced, The hanging tubes have far less duration. Who wants to be getting boxes out of storage every couple of months with all that lifting and sorting to refresh the new product? We don't need more plastic hanging tubes to throw out either. The scatter through sachets in… Read more

sealed containers worked so much better . The seal was difficult to open but was definitely childproof . Hovex please consider the aging population that has blankets, rugs and clothing stored and values storing and looking after their things. Camphor does not work as well as naphthalene.

Nothing to compare – What is the sense in their removal of best product on the market. Bring it back! I have been using Napthalene since the 60's and nothing else keeps bugs away like this does. Where is the logic - how about supporting Australian businesses. I went away for 3 months and carefully laundered all woollies before I left. Got back and silverfish had ruined a cardigan in a colour I can't replace here. I am angry and want this product brought back.

Bring it back – I have been searching everywhere for this product which I used to buy from Bunnings. I can't believe its been taken off the shelf. I live in the tropics and have always found napthalene the best for keeping bugs at bay. The sachets were so convenient. I had one in every drawer in our bedrooms and linen cupboard. Bring it back!!

Bring Them Back – This product has been used for 3 generations that I know of in my family and no one in my family has been harmed by this product. It is yet another government dept saying to Australians we will not support Australian business but we will let imported products in

What more can I add – Hovex Naphthalene Sachets are a brilliant product. Nothing else does the job as effectively, economically and safely, when used as directed. I am extremely annoyed, actually very angry, that this product is no longer available. Bring Back Naphthalene sachets !!! – Can you believe this?? Naphthalene no longer available!!! all our precious things. They were treated with the same respect as ALL pesticides. Nowadays, they are safely enclosed within sachets. SURELY......they can be deemed safe??? Maybe we'll send the cost of replacing moth/mice eaten items to the government or the brains trust who deemed them no longer safe??

Excellent product. Should be used with care – This is an effective and economical product as is Hovex Moth Sachets. Like all pest control products it should be used with care. Problems with the product are the fault of the user not the product. Consumers should not be disadvantaged because of the irresponsible actions of a few. No one is forced to purchase these products. I really liked naphthalene sachets – I am so annoyed that naphthalene flakes in sachets have been banned. I think this product is so effective in keeping pests out of my clothes, drawers, anything that is stored away and so on.

This is perfect for it's use for repelling pests including mice – Nothing is as effective for protecting my valuables. In the outback there can be millions of mice, as well as all the clothes eating nasties. Rat poisons cause the mice, rats to nest in the boxes and die there rotting, stinking, staining and completely damaging any clothing, blankets, mats, books etc Naphthalene repells them all for years. the only thing that worked for storage after the flood while we had no house for 12 months. Then when it flooded again in 2012 there was no N to use and a lot of what we stored was spoiled. Bl........y stupid woman that didn't bother to read or exercise her brain and managed to kill her own kid (sad for the child) and we all have to be punished and suffer by just as ridiculous controlling government.

Exellent product > fit for purpose! – This is an excellent product, that I can no longer find either. I agree fully with the other reviewers that with common sense (= correct product usage/handling etc) this product cannot be faulted; as per many products that many people in the house (flyspray, windex, dishwasher detergents, etc etc) it should be treated with the respect it deserves.

Useful product but treat & health issues with care & respect – I am disappointed that: a.Napthalene now seems almost impossible to obtain in Melbourne Australia & b. That the above may be the result of people using naphthalene carelessly. It is useful for repelling pests, but it should be handled as a toxic substance; e. g. same as flyspray or weed killer. Works on pests if handled with car It stinks - that is part of why it works. It is also reported to be fatally harmful to children. Show 3 replies

Best product available – I used this product recently to control moths in a storage unit I was renting. Within a day all of the moths had fled!! Perfect, 100% effective. It does have a smell to it, which I assume is the active ingredient, the reason it works!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to get rid of moths! My awesome vintage duds have remained moth hole free!! Super effective - affordable and easy to use

Terrible – We believed we had some silverfish in clothing drawers so bought these sachets to place in the drawers. The smell was so incredibly powerful it rendered the whole top level of my house a no go zone and burned right down the back of your throat. We left the sachets in the drawer overnight. The next day my boyfriend needed one of his t shirts,… Read more

wore it out and about half an hour later I got a phone call from him coughing uncontrollably. I then threw all these sachets out and washed all of his clothes and tried to air the drawer. The smell still lingers. In hindsight I read the container and it says to place in a well ventilated area - I would imagine not many clothing drawers/wardrobes are?? My throat still hurts. A silverfish cannot possibly live near these sachets! Far too powerful for domestic use. Burns the throat and stinks out clothing.
