Definitely not a Japanese car – Bought the car in 2015 and now has 65,000kms THE GOOD: - Great size interior - Large boot space compared to other cars at a similar price - Reliable (so far) - Ride quality is much better with decent tyres - Auto CVT great for highway cruising - keeps revs very low and apart from tyre noise is not a bad place to be - Comfortable seats -… Read more

Plenty of room in back seats

THE BAD:

- At 60,000km air con can make the engine stall when stopped at traffic lights. It seems the throttle body needs a clean (if that even fixes it).

- Had to get a noisy shift-lock solenoid replaced in the centre console after about a year. The new one has now also become noisy with that annoying "click" sound when the brake pedal is pressed at low speeds

- The CVT does not fill me with confidence when it makes weird grinding noises whenever the car creeps along at snails pace (eg entering the garage). Hyundai could not find anything wrong

- Body creaks (especially driver's side B-pillar) when going up a driveway slowly

- Poor fuel consumption for a 1.4L with CVT

- CVT revs too low in regular street driving - sounds like engine is labouring like it needs to be changed back a ratio

- Awful gated gear selector - what a pain to use!

- Original Kumho tyres worn after 28,000kms! - even after always rotated at each service and inflated to 36PSI once a month.

- Engine sound when not fully warmed up. Sounds like a diesel. Once again, Hyundai says that's "normal"

- Engine lacks low down pull

- Cheap fabric on seats

- This car/brand is DEFINITELY not up to Japanese car standards

- Car Stereo failed out of warranty.

- Does not fill us with confidence that it will have a long-term durability and reliability

Poor fuel consumption and uncomfortable drivers seat – Hired a Hyundii30 Active Auto from Hertz Adelaide Airport recently, my first choice, a Corolla was not available. Impressed with the spacious interior and boot, we have 3 generations of Corolla hatches in the family and have become accustomed to small boots!. The interiors of Hyundais have come a long way, far better quality of plastics and an… Read more

excellent dash-mounted tablet display with all the latest safety features, that is if you need the car to tell you you are driving across the white lines or off the road!.

All-round visibility is excellent, and the car is eager to pull away from a standstill, this is where it starts to go wrong. The ride is poor, I was feeling every change in road-surface jolt through the body, even minor imperfections in the tarmac were dramatically magnified by the roar of tyre noise.

Over the two days we travelled some 275Kms, and on filling the tank the consumption was a disappointing 11.2 l/100Km. The car had been driven gently, as I would have driven my Corolla, using cruise wherever possible. However, the absolute worst factor is comfort. The seats feel OK for the first 45mins, after that your bones sink though the thin squidgy foam and your back starts to feel the strain. OK this is an inexpensive car, well equipped, and looks the part, but the engine is noisy, road noise is awful and a health warning should be provided for the seats. Hope the 2021 model addresses these issues, as this car WAS on my son's shortlist.

Fails safety test – Whilst stopped at the lights, the driver of a minibus (reading a text message) ran into the rear of my vehicle at full speed and pushed it forward into another stationary car. The airbags did not activate which resulted in the two occupants being hurt. If passengers had been in the back seat, they would have been seriously injured from the impact which wrote ff my car. Buyer beware!  Show details

reasonable price and good quality – I have bought this little bumble bee in John hughes in 2015 during the end of financial year sales. The manager has offer me this model with under 20 k aud which is very affordable for me and my wife. The color of the car is yellow and we no need to pay extra for the color. I have been driving it for 3 years and still no problem is found. very satisfied with it  Show details

Perfect Car for anyone! – Great small car. Love that it has 4 doors yet is so compact. Very spacious too considering its size.Very generous boot. I got the manual and it drives beautifully. Super quiet, sometimes i have to wind down my window to see if I have already turned it on. (haha) It doesn't have any vibration when you are pulled over it is just beautiful. Its very… Read more

Great car - faultless – I bought the automatic version new 3.5 years ago for $17k drive away. The car is fun to drive and huge inside considering its in the small car class. I loved it and miss it after I lost it in an accident with a SUV. Happy with the resale value. I had zero probs with it. The only prob the car had was discovered by the dealer at hand over and got fixed straight away.  Show details

Great small car for a big guy! – Best value small car in Australia for me. I looked at many different models when considering my new purchase and the Hyundai wins for fuel efficiency and leg room (important for me at 6'3). The Apple CarPlay is very handy and easy to use with the only downside being no reverse camera or sensor included in any version.  Show details

Good affordable little car – One of the decent little car, base model, however little bummed to missed on the new model which comes with cruise control at the base model. Overall performance matches my need, good L/Km ratio, decent handling. I wish there would be more features. Made a dumb choice to get reverse sensors to be installed by hyundai, should go to any aftermarket place.  Show details

Very Good enough for the price – Bought it new when it was on promo. Very happy with the fuel consumption and also the offer and extended warranty from the dealer. The car itself is good enough for my work purpose. The technology and bluetooth features are excellent. The only problem that I found is the demister is not really working well during winter time as it took ages to clear up the fogs. Other than that, I am very satisfied with it.  Show details

Good little nifty car – I settled on this purchase after looking into similar sized cars. I think it is value for money. It is quiet when on the road, easy to park which is important as its used mainly for suburban driving and the occasional trip further afield.Spacious enough interior.Reasonably economical to run fuel wise.I bought it new and have it serviced by the… Read more

dealer as it has 3 year cap on service cost as well as paid road assistance if sent to the dealer annually !! It comes with an extended warranty. I have had it for a couple of years now and still running beautifully as it should.Maybe an issue for those who like to put their foot on the pedal to accelerate as it does seem to struggle with acceleration. Take their tinting offer. Well worth it.

Can not fault! – This car drives like a dream! I am lucky enough to do half of the driving (husband loves to drive it too) and to have been a passenger in both the front and e back. The driving experience with this car is second to none! So smooth. So quite. So luxurious! It breaks well in all weather conditions and doesn't slide on wet surfaces. It's… Read more

suitable for elderly couple – excellent car, very reliable. Good performance with plenty of legroom in the front. Being tall, when I have the drivers seat back there is not a lot of room for the passenger behind the driver. I found running costs very reasonable and the servicing excellent and conveniently priced. car handles easily for parking.  Show details

Comfortable fuel efficient & easy to park – Very direct steering, it's an automatic & seems to reva bit before changing to the next gear, which is supposed to be what the CVT transmissions do so I have read , front seats have plenty of leg room, back seat leg room is a bit squeezey It's cheap to run& reliable so far , it's bit noisy inside from road noise & is low to the road which… Read more

makes it a little harder to get out

I bought seat covers & put them on , since then the top half of the back seats which fold up & down , had a constant rattle, which was very annoying

Hyundai adjusted the locking mechanism on the rear seat which lasted for a day , I readjusted the seats myself & the bolt in the locking mechanism kept on coming loose even though they have split washers on them I had to put lok tight on the thread's of the bolts which worked thankfully

Good Car! – Since this is a small car with 1.4 litre engine, I feel that the car is sometimes overworked specially when accelerating uphill. I notice that the engine is a bit noisy at first when you turn it on. The interior is pretty good. The seats are made of cloth but good quality. There is no reversing camera/sensor. I don't like the rear window as I find… Read more

it a bit smaller. As per safety, it has 5 star ANCAP. I like its feature which gives you idea how much remaining gasoline your car and kilometres it can reach. We bought it with 10 years Extended Warranty from DVG Morley which is awesome deal. Overall, still good car for its price.

Great Sales Experience – Purchased for my mother who hasn’t driven in over 20 years, the car is perfect for her. Easy to steer, park and drive with enough room for her groceries and grandkids. Can not fault anything about the vehicle in over a year. Sales team at Moorooka Hyundai were fantastic and went above and beyond to make this a great surprise for her.  Show details

Love my new car – This car is great. The drive is smooth on all the different roads I've taken it on. It's great on the highway, smaller suburban streets and even on tiny dirt roads that wind around mountains. It's easy to park in tight spots and I absolutely love driving it everywhere. It's a small car that has surprising amounts of room inside. My tall… Read more

friends have no issues stretching their legs in the front passenger seat, my sisterinlaw can easily fit her (large) rear facing baby seat in the back seat of the car and the boot of the car has a great amount of space for a small car. Apple Car play, while not a feature I would pay extra for, is a great addition to the car. Being able to plug in and use Maps/Music/Phone/Voice to Text is handy.

The car has given me no issues since I purchased it brand new earlier this year. The running costs are low, I do an average amount of driving (about 15,000km/year) and have found that filling the tank will last me about two weeks or so. The lifetime service plan is very reasonable in price aswell.

An outstanding small "city" car – If you're looking for a car in this category, the Accent should be on your shopping short-list. The performance from the 1.4lt engine is perfectly adequate and the new 6 speed CVT auto works well with this engine. The ride is noticeably firm but I think will be acceptable to most buyers. The car suffers from considerable road noise on the highway… Read more ·  1

but you must take into account the low purchase price. If you want a quiet highway cruiser this is not the car for you - remember that Hyundai market and sell this vehicle as a "city" car. As a city car it is brilliant! Performance on the highway is good even with passengers on board.

The interior has all the basics covered but some buyers may be disappointed that cruise control is not standard on the base "Active" level. Apple Car Play and its Android equivalent are standard and works fine although I have not tried the Android. The general equipment level is satisfactory for the price and category. The seats are comfortable and the fabric seems durable but only time will tell. Exterior finish / paint is very good.

There is no reason to expect this car to be other than solidly reliable as is typical for Hyundai. Service intervals are 12 months / 15,000km with capped pricing. Based on my extensive pre-purchase research, the servicing prices are reasonable, competitive and affordable. Tyres are a common size giving the buyer many choices when it comes time to replace them. A large range to choose from helps keep tyre prices lower.

This car is a sound choice if you're looking for a small car. It is great value for money, reliable, well built and finished, reasonably equipped, easy on fuel (regular 91 octane unleaded) offers good performance and low running costs. I'm really very happy with it and I purchased the car new.

Great value car – Affordable, comfy and nicely optioned with good engine power for its size. security of 24/7 roadside assist is a nice touch.

Remember this a budget buy. Its not a fancy car with options and leather. But its well finished for the budget buyer and has ample legroom for all 4 passengers with a nice deep book suitable for three large bags with no trouble.

Why this car and not the Kia or one of the other budget small cars. $16K for an auto 5 door 5 seat sedan. The KIA was a close contender by at $1500 more we could see no reason for the extra. The dealer offers a 3 extra yyear basic warranty if we get the 5 years of services with them so the so called KIA~7 year warranty isnt that attractive. I once owned a KIA and wasnt that imprssed. My other Hyundai 120 have been a reliable car and helped sell the Accent.

Perfect, shame about the radio – Great car very impressed value for money no question about it, I traded my 2010 GETZ 5 speed manual which also had a 1.4 motor, and now buying a new Accent and having a 1.4 motor 6 speed manual gearbox I was a little concerned about the fact my Getz would comfortably drive around town in forth gear and the fifth gear was only required once I hit… Read more

over 70 km, ........but they have worked the Accent's Engine and Gearbox over a little here which has created more torque in the lower gears and very efficeint in the higher range and will comfortably drive around town in fifth gear and then into sixth gear on around 70 Km and onwards which hums along at 100 km/hour and revving around 3000RPM, it is also built a little better inside and out compared to my GETZ. As other people have mentioned the radio is a little disappointing with regards to reception and is an issue, i have only had a slight reception problem on FM stations so far.....but AM may have bigger issue's

Handy Car – I have the Hyundai accent 2014 model and never had a problem with it. Definitely a great car for p platers which is when i got mine, as its a really great small compact car and i find it really easy to park. I was hesitate to take it camping but surprisingly i had no complications and having back seats that can go down makes it a little bit more handy to lie stuff down. It definitely is a great value.  Show details

Exceeded my expectations – I have recently bought one of the new 1.4L Active Hatch which comes with a CVT Auto transmission. This car has exceeded all my expectations in the early days of ownership. The engine may be small but max. torque is achieved at a relatively low (for non turbo petrol) at 3500 rpm. This teams up beautifully with the CVT Automatic. After driving… Read more

this for an extended trip at 110km/h, the tacho was sitting on 2000rpm, and could not believe I contemplated a Yaris or Swift which were offering deals similar to Hyundai on 4 speed autos which would have been buzzing at 3300 rpm in the meantime. Anyhow, freeway driving will not be this car's main role, as it was intended to be an urban species with runabout duties. No complaints there either with light steering, small turning circle and supple ride over suburban potholes.

The Accent just feels like a different category of car than its competitors with a lovely mature interior. The internal materials quality is also very good and well screwed together, so no issues there. I really can't think of anything more I would need in a basic car. It has excellent rear seat space and spacious boot with a full size spare. How compelling is it when you have 5 yr warranty and 10 yr roadside assist?

There's a couple of VERY minor things worth commenting on such as Bluetooth audio streaming does not show song title/artist etc on the screen, but if you connect your music via USB, you get it all including album artwork. I find road noise can be an issue on coarse chip road surfaces found on older highways, but on normal roads, not an issue and I'm sure that would be the case for the other light cars on the market (possibly except for VW Polo). Cruise control would have been nice, but not an issue for me as it's a suburban runabout for 99% of the time. Steering can also feel a little vague on the straight ahead on centre position at highway speeds and there is no warning sound if you leave your headlights on and remove keys from the ignition.

Do I care about all this stuff? No. For the price of the car and the quality of the build and drivetrain, I am wrapped. You can just feel that this car will last the distance.
