Go go Getz! – I use this car as a daily driver and for long runs at night from fishing adventures I have the 2007 1.6L SX MANUAL The fuel economy is fantastic and parking anywhere is a dream. They are not a fast car if u want that go something sporty! As you can imagine been a small car naturally there’s not much room either. This car would suit a fleet… Read more

vehicle or a person living on a budget

I service regularly with full synthetic oils, timing belt maintenance is important too I do this every 90,000km I’m now on 230,000km and she’s running pretty sweet actually

Pros are fuel economy and ease of parking and fun to drive

Cons are not much power and poor factory lights easily fixed by replacing with LED

Very good reliable cheap car – We purchased our little Hyundai Getz new in NSW in 2010 (I note a lot of the major car rental firms all used Hyundai Getzs in their fleets for cheap reliable cars). We initially looked at buying a small second hand car but anything any good was $9-10,000- or more. So for $12,400- brand new with a factory 5 year warranty we purchased a new Hyundai… Read more

Getz SX 1.6, 5 speed manual trans, 3 door hatchback with white paint. The 4 speed automatic option was dearer, as was a 4 door model (additional $1,000-) and any coloured paintwork, other than white is also dearer. A 1.4 ltr engine was a bit cheaper, but as we would be driving the car on the motorway and up hills we opted for the slightly larger engine with more power. The vehicle has now done 106,400 kms without any issues. I have completed all regular oil & oil filter changes, one new battery, one set of new tyres and at 100,000 kms we had a new cam belt, new water pump, new engine mount and all belts replaced. Brake pads still okay. The vehicle has been very reliable and economical at all times. We moved to the Gold Coast in 2011 and have driven this car Sydney to Gold Coast twice without issue, easily cruising at 100-120 kmph returning around 6 l/100kms. This car has the larger 1.6 engine which has more power than a 1.4 ltr and being a 3 door is around 174 kgs lighter than a 4 door, so it is quite peppy, with more than adequate power to accelerate up hills and over take on the open road as well as being very economical on fuel. Note: if the Air Conditioning is turned on, this will noticeably reduce the vehicle's performance and acceleration. The only down side is the plastic interior finish is very cheap, seats could be more comfortable (although aftermarket quality seat covers do help) and the cheap plastic glove box hinges broke. A 4 door model would definitely be more handy for easier access to the back seat for shopping bags or carrying extra passengers in the rear. But a 4 door model means approx. 174 kg in additional weight, so that would negatively impact performance & economy. Overall we continue to use this little car as a 2nd vehicle and we are extremely happy with it, with no plans to replace it anytime soon. SUMMARY: While being a cheap car with a cheap finish, it is extremely reliable, has adequate performance (especially with air conditioning turned off), will easily cruise at 100-120 kmph on the motorway all day long and is really economical on petrol. Overall, in my opinion it is very good value for money.

Ok – Its a reliable car, its just not as good as a toyota. My previous car was a toyota. IN FUTURE I WILL ONLY BUY TOYOTA. For a few extra thousand, you get a much better car. The Hyundai just has lots of little problems with it that really annoy me. E.g lots of rattle and my seat belt wont retract properly.  Show details

Great service from this car, now passed onto my son – So the Getz is discontinued, I still think it is important for people to know what second hand cars are like as not everyone can afford a new car. I purchased a 2008 Hyundai Getz as a transporter walking alongside individuals with disabilities. This is obviously not a luxury car but it has Air Con, Power Steer, Power windows so really, what more… Read more ·  1

do you need? I have rated this car on the service, consistency and efficiency it afforded me and the great value for money it represents. I needed 5 doors and fuel efficiency but also reasonable power so I purchased the 5 door 1.6 SX Manual. I have managed to transport 4 passengers at a time so 5 people all up. I wouldn't say comfortably but I had no complaints. We are talking around 500kg of humanity in one go here :) I have also managed to squeeze some sizeable payloads volume wise, Fridges, Washing Machines and an item I went to pick up that the person who sold to me stated I would never get the item in the car.....ha ha, whatever!! Fit like a glove.....a very tight glove :) Anyway, Purchased Getty at 100000km checked all the services, made sure the timing belt had been changed at 90000km I owned the car for around 18 months before transferring ownership to my son at 204000km of course I serviced the car regularly though I did not change the timing belt at 180000km as I should have. I risked that the car had been serviced well and I changed the Timing Belt at 204000km along with rear break pads and all the other belts. This car never caused me any issues. It was pretty bloody peppy for a little 1600 and it had not lost any power by the time I transferred to my son at 204000km It was always good on fuel and carried any payload I jammed in it with ease. I loved this little car so much I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Accent to replace it but that is another story to tell after I have run the Accent in at around oh, 90000km she is sitting on 7000km right at the moment. If you're a youngster, maybe a Uni student or a family on a budget I strongly recommend a second hand Hyundai Getz. Keep in mind, check all services have been done. Check Timing belt has been done at 90000km intervals. Do a REVS check of course. Take it for a good drive and check the power and check the cleanliness of the oil. Give it a bit of stick and check the tailpipe. I recommend the 5 door 1600 for resale value. Get a manual tranny :)

2008 Getz - great little car – We bought our 2008 Getz 1.6 SX auto 2 door new and use it as a daily run around and our kids use it when they visit from Qld. Great little reliable car and has just done 56,000km's. We do not get it serviced at the Hyundai dealerships - too expensive. We use a local car mechanic and the savings are in the hundreds of dollars. Just had the 72 month… Read more

service done and the Hyundai dealers quoted $950 + $325 for the belt timing kit. We paid $687 for our local mechanic to do the same work.

Great little car – I purchased an automatic transmission 2010 Hyundai Getz SX second hand this year. It is still brand new looking. The interior looks great, nice and modern. It is a dream to park after owning a larger sedan for 8 years. It can be a little slow to accelerate going uphill, but otherwise drives fine. The steering is good, fuel consumption is much… Read more ·  1

better compared to my old car but I can't say how it would compare to other newer hatchbacks.

Mine is a three door, have had no issues with that so far. I've so far only had one passenger, thus no one in the back seat to judge how comfortable/big/small it is back there.

The radio volume controls on the steering wheel are handy. Drivers seat fairly comfortable. One tiny downside is there is no warning beeper for if you switch the engine off with the lights still on.

My old car had this warning system and it was a 96 model Ford. I'm surprised that a 2010 built car doesn't have this sort of technology. But hey, it sould not be that hard to remind myself to check the lights are off before leaving the car, every time I've had them on. Small and easy to park, easy to drive, economical on fuel No warning signal if you switch the engine off before switching the lights off

excellent small fun car – i bought a 2007 1.6 sx manual in a private sale with low Kms on it 44,000 and only one owner so it was a good buy and needed to replace my motorbike which had let me down again. I have owned the car for a year and have noticed that you easily get 500kms from a tank of fuel even close to 600 if carefull driving. the car has so much space in it with… Read more

the seats folded flat you can get 3 cycles in it no problem. the revs stay up when changing gear which is part of the emission control system so it normal but a pain but you just adjust driving style to suit. The steering has a weird feel to it and it does tend to under steer a lot but I have found that if you floor it just before turning it then it's bette but you get used to it. I have more fun driving the Getz than my much faster better handling 2.4 lancer ch as you can have fun it at much lower speeds. My wife loves the car and we use it more than the lancer now. take this little car down a single lane back road like I did and you can surprise and keep up with much faster cars. fuel use , service costs, safety features, space, fun to drive revs stay up when changing gears and the steering feel.

Good – can't argue this car has good value for money. reasonable performance from 1.6L(mine is manual) with surprisingly good fuel economy, everything power operated, class leading generous factory warranty. it would be better if roof line is bit higher or front seat can be lowered for tall driver, optional rear parking sensor, optional factory sunroof,… Read more

optional 6-in-dash disc player with ipod/usb connection. fuel economy, power windows for front & rear SX, remote access with central locking, power door mirrors, ABS, MP3 playable on single CD player, speed variable intermittent front windscreen wiper, clear view on dashboard day & night low roof line even for not so tall driver, cheap plastic especially in the boot very easily scratchable, cheap low grade carpet, poor sound insulation, poor radio reception, scratching noise from rear drum brake in the morning but it goes away
