Peeling paint but a car which runs well – Car runs well, economical with petrol and never had any major issues. Biggest issue is the peeling paint. It is continually coming off the car and it is peeling in more spots in bigger pieces. Show details

Worst company ever – Worst car company ever. Brought my i20 in 2016 brand new, after 2 years the paint began to peel. It now comes off in chunks and I have a considerable amount missing on my drivers door, around the front window, and the back of my car is practically grey all over. When I mentioned it to a dealer when it began I was told it was ‘sun damage’ and it… Read more

was ‘normal,’ I’m too scared to wash the car in case the paint comes off, I can’t sell it to a dealership cos they won’t take any, and to resell costs a fortune. Would not recommend this at all.

Horrible Paint on Car's metal body, peels off easily – Extremely sloppy paint job on the car, Hyundai only provide a 3 year warranty on paint and no concession in case of wear and tear prior to the 10yr period, no undercoat and the paint peels off the metal very easily Show details

Better trip car than on old 3 speed auto honda – only 4 speed so plenty of room for improvement there. Bought as a pre registered probablybecause the dealer was finallybeing asked to pay for his stock. It was was 5000 off RRP with on road costs paid. One major defect looses plines on stearing shaft. Made a click sound. Tenacious nominated general mechanic tracked it down. Dealership not much… Read more

help. One other grizzel TPMS not equipped on spare wheel. China part and battery off for a few seconds to reset to 4 wheels again after newly fitted tpms logged on an eventuallt the controler said fault for the fifth wheel TPMS that had gone to sleep in the boot as the the not rotating spare. Hyundai saved one tpms sensor and a reset switch that made the whole system a joke so that the best suggested fix was to remove the warning light or tape over it. Cheap and nasty.

Great Little Car~ – Bought a manual i20 (new) 4 years ago. It's a terrific, zippy little car with excellent fuel economy. Very easy to park. Amazing fuel economy on highway runs! Very reasonable service costs and the 10 year Roadside Assist is a bonus. Such a shame they are no longer being imported into Australia.  Show details

This is the best little car – Love driving this car easy to handle great fuel economy. Only one thing I can fault is it did not come with cruise control. Cannot believe they do not make them any more would trade to next model. There is no noise driving it. Services at Hyundai very reasonable. Courtesy car is a great option when working.  Show details

Very unhappy – I purchased my i20 in 2013 while it’s been a reliable car the paint is bubbling anD peeling off back and front. Interior is cracking around sun visa. The plastic under handle of blood is cracking. Both spare and main keys fell apart. I am a 72 year old woman and am not rough with my car. Very dissapointed I will never buy Hyundai again. shocking paint work and electrical – The paint is peeling all over the car and the electrical wiring is cutting in out meaning when I trun the wheel the air con shuts in and out along with the radio. Sent my complaints to hyundai robina qld said nothing they can do out of warranty just basicly wiped there hands clean. Very dissapointed as I have brought my cars from them brand new all the time.  Show details

2014 Hyundai paint peeling. Great car, lousy paint – I bought a white Hyundai i20 in late 2014. A couple of years ago I handed it over to one of my sons. Because I live a distance away, in another state, and due to the covid lockdowns I have not seen the vehicle in a while. But last Friday, 13/11/2020, I was able to catch up with him and the car. My attention was drawn to the paint around the hatch… Read more

window. The top paint paint layers were lifting, exposing the undercoat. He actually thought that someone had poured brake fluid over it. But on inspection I have ruled that out. As an ex-policofficer of a few decades I have seen quite a few instances of brake fluid vandalism and this was not one. No paint fading and the paint lifting totally off the undercoat as if it had never been adhered to it to begin with.

Where do we go from here?

Poor paint job – I purchased an I20 for my daughter 2016 by 2018 with 18,000km on the clock the paint was falling off it. Hyundai agreed to repaint the area affected. Most uncomfortable seats of any car I've owned!! – The front seats are uncomfortable due to there being a bar across your lower back of both front seats. Hyundai say they will supply the parts under "Goodwill" but the dealer says I'm to pay for 4 hours labour for the repairs to be done. NEVER will I buy a Hyundai again. Found so called "Customer Care" rude and the polar opposite of the meaning.  Show details

Good car; disappointing paintwork – This is my 4th Hyundai and I have been happy with it generally in the sense that it is economical with fuel and has never broken down. However the quality of the paintwork is extremely disappointing. The car is not even 5 years old yet and the paint has come off on both the front and back bumpers. The paint has just worn off in parts and you can… Read more

see the black plastic underneath. I've put a pic of the front as my profile picture so you can see (and it's worse at the back). This is not from heavy washing or scrubbing (it is only ever hand washed with a soft cloth). I assumed that this would be covered by the 5 yr warranty, but turns out that the paint warranty only lasts 3 years. It's disappointing as it's clearly not normal wear. Their standards have clearly dropped since the last Hyundais I bought. I have taken it back to the place of purchase and they are seeking a response about whether Hyundai will repair the damage for me. I'll update when I receive a response.

Great first car! – Great first car, new or used! I bought mine new (it was a barely used display car) in 2015 - super reliable! If you want a cheap car that's reliable, this is it. grown adults in the car, but otherwise would recommend as a first car or a stand-by 2nd car.

Typical 30 minute work commute and short errands means the petrol tank lasts about a week - usually about 40 dollars to fill a full tank.

Hatch back definitely holds all the groceries.

I've taken it country as well and it's great - but definitely not a car for pot-holes.

car will automatically lock itself. I've had this car for almost a year now (second-hand) and have not had any major problems with it mechanically.

The downfall is the car is not very powerful and really struggles uphill or with extra weight inside the car. Sometimes the stereo requires a code (some anti theft thing), although I doubt a code will deter thieves from stealing... The car is small and there is not much legroom for the back seats.

This is best suited for a single person and would make a wonderful first car.

Great first car – I purchased the i20 brand new as my first car, and so far have had no issues. are fast approaching. I own the auto and it doesn't like being moved up into a higher gear when approaching said hills, that's for sure. It lacks basic necessities that most cars these days have, such as steering wheel buttons and a touch screen, but the basic bluetooth audio system works great and always connects to your phone easily and with no hassles. Bass is actually really quite good, which both surprised and impressed me.

Good for Money – The reliability is excellent and is very economical on petrol. The interior is cheap looking and carpet is really thin. unit especially when everyone walks around with $800 phones in their pocket.

On the highway it seems to purr along quite nicely and I don't feel any bumps.

The trip computer can be hard to see during daylight, and the automatic doesn't know what to do if you try for some power. It's best to just cruise along and slowly squeeze the accelerator as the car powers up.

Visibility is a breeze for parking and for the money and basic commuting it's probably a top choice.

Replace your brakes at 45000km – I loved this car up until it's 45000km service, it had really served me well, was great on fuel, and I had treated it well; but then came the 45000km service! I came in to pick the car up and was told that the front pads and the rotors need replacing! I had to ask them a couple of times if they were sure, unfortunately, they believed there were! … Read more

I was quite taken aback and got hold of the head office who said it was common (only with the i20, the rest of their range are all good apparently!) and that the pads were softer than normal to offer "phenomenal braking". I can understand (only just) a car's pads needing replacing at this stage, but its rotors!!

To me if a car's rotors can't make it past 45000km there is something wrong. And if Hyundai's head office shrugs it's shoulders and says thats just the way it is, I will take my business elsewhere.
