Horrible Paint on Car's metal body, peels off easily – Extremely sloppy paint job on the car, Hyundai only provide a 3 year warranty on paint and no concession in case of wear and tear prior to the 10yr period, no undercoat and the paint peels off the metal very easily Show details

Great Little Car~ – Bought a manual i20 (new) 4 years ago. It's a terrific, zippy little car with excellent fuel economy. Very easy to park. Amazing fuel economy on highway runs! Very reasonable service costs and the 10 year Roadside Assist is a bonus. Such a shame they are no longer being imported into Australia.  Show details

Most uncomfortable seats of any car I've owned!! – The front seats are uncomfortable due to there being a bar across your lower back of both front seats. Hyundai say they will supply the parts under "Goodwill" but the dealer says I'm to pay for 4 hours labour for the repairs to be done. NEVER will I buy a Hyundai again. Found so called "Customer Care" rude and the polar opposite of the meaning.  Show details

This is the best little car – Love driving this car easy to handle great fuel economy. Only one thing I can fault is it did not come with cruise control. Cannot believe they do not make them any more would trade to next model. There is no noise driving it. Services at Hyundai very reasonable. Courtesy car is a great option when working.  Show details

Perfect City Car – Perfect for someone to roam around in the city. Great average with ample space for a family of 4. Got it serviced recently, service charges not that high as well. Bought mine from Hyundai Werribee. They explained all the features and also offered a pretty good discount for the services. Best city car  Show details

Perfect car for the fuel saver – Handles well and is reliable. The clutch is amazing and so smooth. Bluetooth calls are awesome. I love bluetooth music. Makes things extra convenient. the turning circle isn't amazing. but I save so much on petrol. I find i only need to fill up every 3 weeks. Which is really good for saving.  Show details

Zippy little car – Excellent fuel economy. Wish it would download my phone book. Otherwise Bluetooth connectivity is great. After market cruise control not ideal as it revvs the engine too hard. I have found that the auto trans slips a little. Tidy little cheap runner with good ac and heating. Steering wheel controls would have been good Also miss my tinted windows as the heat coming in is harsh and my viser is not adequate to block the sun  Show details

Great first car! – Great first car, new or used! I bought mine new (it was a barely used display car) in 2015 - super reliable! If you want a cheap car that's reliable, this is it. By 45000km, only had to replace tires and brake pads. Handles well, brakes definitely work (had a couple of near misses, which this car handled with ease). Struggles a bit with 5… Read more

grown adults in the car, but otherwise would recommend as a first car or a stand-by 2nd car.

Typical 30 minute work commute and short errands means the petrol tank lasts about a week - usually about 40 dollars to fill a full tank.

Hatch back definitely holds all the groceries.

I've taken it country as well and it's great - but definitely not a car for pot-holes.

Great small car – Brought our car new in 2014,hasnt missed a beat . But like any car you need to change the front brake pads around the 30k mark on the autos. All the pads and rotors are available locally from Bendix etc and will save a fortune compared to original. The motor is a 1.4lt and is great for a city runaround, the people who want to haul around 4 people… Read more

on a regular basis might want to look for a bigger car like the i30. Cheap and cheerful, great on fuel, easy to park.Capped price servicing ,and got an 8 year extended warranty thrown in.A no brainer.

Good city car – Very smooth car to drive around in. The steering wheel is easy to turn and the car is light, making it easy to drive in suburban areas. It has heaps of wonderful features- my favourite is the car automatically locks the doors once you start driving. Another feature is if you unlock the car but do not open the doors within a certain timeframe, the… Read more

car will automatically lock itself. I've had this car for almost a year now (second-hand) and have not had any major problems with it mechanically.

The downfall is the car is not very powerful and really struggles uphill or with extra weight inside the car. Sometimes the stereo requires a code (some anti theft thing), although I doubt a code will deter thieves from stealing... The car is small and there is not much legroom for the back seats.

This is best suited for a single person and would make a wonderful first car.

Great first car – I purchased the i20 brand new as my first car, and so far have had no issues. It is fairly good on fuel, although does use more due to only having 4 speeds (should be a 5th minimum like most cars). Goes okay on the open roads although severely lacks power which can be frustrating when going up hills in peak hour when there are cars behind you that… Read more

are fast approaching. I own the auto and it doesn't like being moved up into a higher gear when approaching said hills, that's for sure. It lacks basic necessities that most cars these days have, such as steering wheel buttons and a touch screen, but the basic bluetooth audio system works great and always connects to your phone easily and with no hassles. Bass is actually really quite good, which both surprised and impressed me.

Good for Money – The reliability is excellent and is very economical on petrol. The interior is cheap looking and carpet is really thin. Leg room at the back is so small an average foot can't lay flat on the ground. Noisy on the motorway but quiet on new roads. Handling and steering is really good. The i20 of mine has never broken down. The i20 is great value for money  Show details

Courtesy car – Been given this car for a week or two while my mazda 6 is fixed from minor accident. unit especially when everyone walks around with $800 phones in their pocket.

On the highway it seems to purr along quite nicely and I don't feel any bumps.

The trip computer can be hard to see during daylight, and the automatic doesn't know what to do if you try for some power. It's best to just cruise along and slowly squeeze the accelerator as the car powers up.

Visibility is a breeze for parking and for the money and basic commuting it's probably a top choice.

Looses power!! – Brought 2015 i20 in June had done just over 20000km. Lost power and bunny jumped on way home!! Thought using higher grade fuel and long run may fix it. main street, Rang dealership, and took it into local Hyundai, they could not find anything wrong with it but tweeked the computer? it was good for about 4 weeks and has started doing it again.. not happy and ringing dealership tomorrow. We were so, so lucky we have not been killed or injured so far.

I love everything else about this car, but needs replacing or fixing if that's possible, before the warranty runs out.

I have taken my Hyundai i20 2015 back to Hyundai to find out why it loses power intermittently. They have been very good and believe they have found the problem. They kept my car for four days and gave me a loan car. They have approval from hyundai to fix the problem and It is booked in for Tuesday for a few days, Hopefully this will fix the problem.

Nearly been killed on two occasions – Was great for 2 years and around 20000 klms. This year on a number of occasions it has lost power and failed to accelerate in highway traffic. Ongoing issue with brakes not resolved – I was looking for a small car to get me from A to B and settled on a brand new 2014 automatic Hyundai i20. When I started driving it, it was great, although I did miss some of the features not present in the base model i20 which I'd had with my previous 10 year old car (such as the centre console I used as an armrest and the radio controls on the… Read more

steering wheel). Lots of the features are great such as the digital display which shows the temperature and how much petrol you have left in the tank, the Bluetooth connectivity to my phone to answer calls and play music (although the sound isn't great) and the roominess even though it is a small car.

Here comes the negative... At the 6 month mark the second service was due and I reported that the brakes were squeaking. Fast forward 9 months and I am still chasing this issue! I have been back to Hyundai 7 times in the last 9 months, to 2 different service centres, and the brake squeaking is still present. I just got off the phone with Hyundai (again!) and was basically advised that some of the components of the brakes are no longer made with the same ingredients (for want of a better word) meaning that some of the bits that rub together are shiny and the shiny parts rubbing together are what is making the squeak. I was told the best way to get rid of this noise is to brake suddenly and naturally rough up the discs (or whatever the part is) in the brakes. Roughing them up would reduce the shininess and therefore stop the squeaking.

I have never been told this before (not once in the 9 months that I have been chasing this) and expressed my disappointment at wasting 9 months chasing this only to be told to "brake hard" to eliminate the noise. I have dealt with Mornington service centre who told me they had enlisted the expertise of the national technical support team and yet the issue remains.

Long story short, I spent $20,000 (and unfortunately due to financial circumstances took out a 7 year loan) only to have brake issues at 6 months, which as far as I can see, may never be resolved. I am not telling you not to buy the car as it does have some redeeming features, but I do suggest you read forums and do some research before selecting a car!

Fantastic! – The i20 is a fantastic small car, quiet and drives like a dream! The interior is low maintenance a quick vacuum and it's a brand new car again! The best thing about the i20 is that it is cheap to fill up and the petrol lasts me at least a week and I drive to and from work everyday!  Show details

Can't fault it – It's reliable, economical, easy to drive and a great little car to ferry my kids around in. It performs and handles well although it lacks oomph for big hills. Comfortable to drive and well set out interior. It's a small car but feels sturdy enough without that tinny, boxy feel of some small cars.  Show details

Deffently the best car in the class – I purchased my i20 as a demo in August 2015, I got a 3 door Manual in Pristine Blue, im very happy with the car I would strongly recommend this over anything else. Not a bad car. What do ANCAP base their ratings on? Lousy headlights! – I bought this car new 7 months ago. I bought it mostly for the 5 year warranty and the ANCAP 5 star rating. I'm not fussy about cars - as long as it starts and gets me where I'm going and doesn't use too much fuel on the way. I've done about 7,000 kilometers in it. Before buying, I compared it to the Mitsubishi Mirage (but there isn't a… Read more

Mitsubishi dealer locally) and the Kia Rio. I would have bought the Rio, but the dealer in Bairnsdale is a clown - well, he let a cash customer walk out and didn't call me when he said he would - or at all!

The bad things first.

(I'm not counting the minor fault it has because I'm hoping the mechanics will be able to fix it.)

The headlights are rubbish. I live in the country and drive along twisty dark roads which are kangaroo playgrounds. The lights are entirely inadequate. I have no idea how a car with lights like this can get any kind of a safety rating. But, if you live in the city they may be fine.

It is noisy - yes, everyone says so. I can cope with it because it is a cheap car.

The good or okay things.

Fixed price (and very cheap) servicing. Well, it's so good, I wonder if they'll honour it. If so, it's a bargain.

Fast enough and very good road holding. I've had it up in the 140s per hour (on the way to an emergency call) and it had no problems with handling or anything else.

Fuel consumption is not as good as the diesel polo I used to have but it's about 7 litres per 100 kms. I do live in a hilly country area, so fuel figures could be better elsewhere.

10 year roadside assistance. So, it saves me money on RACV membership.

If it lasts and if they can fix the fault (with the heater) I'm going to be happy enough - except for the lights.

Good little town car – We love our little 2014 i20 it is cheap on fuel, nice looking, comfortable and with the six speed manual gearbox has everything we need. But ... Hyundai I20 Elite Fantastic Vehicle – When my vehicle was being repaired, the insurance company gave me this fabulous Hyundai I20. I was very impressed with this vehicle. I could not fault anything in this car. Major pros. Very smooth, drives effortlessly, quite and responsive engine, very well insulated cabin and fun to drive on the highway at high speeds, stylish looks both inside… Read more

and outside, plenty of storage compartments, electric fold-able mirrors, brilliant stereo system, will lit cabin display and interior lighting, good handling with little body role, extremely light steering which makes parking this car a breeze, and quite agile and fantastic on fuel.

The major advantage of this vehicle is that it has fantastic suspension that absorbs every bump on the road.

The resale value of this vehicle is fantastic and I can see why.

The only flaw is small rear cabin, but Hyundai compensates for that by the groves they have on their rear seats.

Hyundai has come a long way and started to manufacture more refined vehicles. As test drove 8 2015 models in the same class as the I20 and very few came close in quality and refinement. Unfortunately I can not say the same for the Kia Rio.
