I wish I could rate it lower
Delivery takes at least two weeks. Today I received an email that it will be delayed for another 10-15 days due to increased online shopping demand.
When calling you will be put on hold for almost 1 hour and are forced to listen to obnoxious and extremely loud and therefore distorted pop songs.
Truely awful. I never want to buy anything there again. The only reason why I am forced to shop online as I cannot find a dimmable GX53 bulb anywhere else. And the one I purchased previously was dead on arrival.
I would not ever go with IKEA kitchens. I have been without a kitchen for over 2 months!
I would not ever go with IKEA kitchens. I have been without a kitchen for over 2 months! I have experienced really poor customer support. I am still waiting for bench tops. And the instructions are not very clear, there are no to very little words to describe how to install the dishwasher!!! I have the manual and downloaded the manual from IKEA website and still not clear. When I spoke to someone from IKEA today 25 July 2021, she talked over me and then hung up when I asked her not to interrupt me. Really not happy with the product and the support.
6 week delivery is crazy
I have shopped online with IKEA several times in the past couple of years. Delivery times used to be excellent, but my recent order has more than six weeks delivery time. I had to change the order a couple of times which can only be done online by cancelling the whole order and starting again. And re-starting the six or more weeks of waiting for delivery! I love the products I've purchased, but blaming COVID for extreme delivery delays is both tiresome and ridiculous. If they do not have the stock in Australia, then it is illegal to advert...ise it for sale here. Instead they should mark it as out of stock not give everybody six week delivery delays. The ACCC needs to investigate. Ps: Toll always do a great job here in Kadina; I have no complaints with them!
Click and collect in store is available within a week but home delivery is at least 2 months, loll that is not a “supply chain impacted by the pandemic” but ikea’s lack of commitment to delivery and customer experience. That’s why ikea doesn’t deserve a 1 star too.
IKEA Fabulous Kitchen but appalling experience with IKEA approved installer.
Recently we installed an IKEA kitchen and it looks fabulous but ......
The Kitchen design service IKEA offer for $99 was well worth every cent. Some stock was not available at time of delivery (delivery service is worth the money) but we were notified when it would be available. IKEA organised postage for missing items. Great refund policy for items not needed. Quality looks amazing.
NEGATIVES : Please read before choosing your Installer...
We used BLUEPRINT INTERIORS , an approved IKEA Installer and after doing many renovation...s, this was by far the most frustrating and awful experience yet. They charged us for works that should not be charged given that the value of the contract was almost $5,000 and charging for an item that was completed by another trade (they will not credit us for). They charged variation costs (not all agreed) on a progress payment invoice, and threatened debt collectors when we disputed the value of the variations claimed and they couldn’t answer us appropriately when we asked them to talk us through how they calculated this variation. The variation claim values were not accurate/ reasonable, in fact there was an item listed in their quote (noted before) that we requested a credit for that they ignored. If they know they are in the wrong, they simply dismiss the query or totally turn it around until they believe they are right. Clever but an inappropriate way to run a business. They had staffing problems that we were patient with but this problem was not their fault or responsibility apparently. they blamed us for holding them up on one occasion.
Placed an order for Candles ( small items) on the 14th Del scheduled for the 20th between 8am - 8pm... Still waiting cannot contact Ikea no update as to where my order is. Absolutely terrible. 6 Days and a 12 hour schedule from them for a small parcel to deliver then still cannot deliver.. Avoid Ikea online at all costs the worst of service....

Very bad at deliveries
I had 2 deliveries in the last month and both went wrong. First time the guys delivered one of the items to someone else so I had to wait for them to bring it back (and it was me who noticed it as obviously they don't even bother to check what they unload from the truck). And the second time the guy was too fast to leave so I couldn't even check what was in the boxes and one item is missing in the delivery. Their online contact form was useless (no one contacted me back) and phone support (waited too long, no luck getting someone to respond). So I can't even talk to someone. Bad ikea!
Two faulty products. Zero refund response
I have had two faulty pieces delivered. I’ve tried on several platforms to simply speak to someone about getting a refund. I’m so defeated over jt. I can’t believe a global store can’t be bothered to respond

We have spent more then 80k with two homes
Ikea is a Joke
Warranties mean nothing, we got delivered a black molded counter top (karlby 203.352.00) I think about 8 of them. I tried many mold killers and bleach
I followed all the instructions, oiled it with their oil every 6 months and when I installed it.
After 6 months and a few emails (recently) they said mold is not covered under the 25 year warranty.
We have had a few issues with their products and our next home WE WILL NOT EVER BUY their dodgy products.
The small items are ok, but be warned about promises, and warranties. Buy at your own risk.
We have talked with ACCC and will be starting legal action against IKEA with VCAT.
furniture is great. The buying experience is so bad, it almost doesn't matter.
I always use Ikea because the furniture is so good. Every purchase is a nightmare though. I now buy in big lots to reduce the amount of days of my life ruined by the worst purchasing process I have ever experienced, and it is the same every time.
Half the items needed are out of stock and they count the restock in weeks not days. Arrange delivery and it's ridiculously painful process. Delivery dates can be booked but its a 12 hour window so you need a day off work. Dates are noted as estimates, and they could deliver up to 5 working days late...r. (Your boss wont mind if you take the week off?) . They promise to text in the morning to confirm - They Don't. Check online , their Toll link doesn't work. Call, sit on hold for hours, 3 hours this time. Finally get through to be told, "Didn't anyone tell you? We will have to reschedule to a different day because we are missing a door." I explain that i have had this order confirmed, missed work, lined up help. Put on hold for another 20 mins. "My mistake. It is being delivered today. We'll drop the doors off any time in the next 5 days." I ask if they will let me know when? No. How will I know when to be in? Don't Worry - we will leave them at your front door in the rain or if you prefer you can travel 60 km each way to collect them, despite having paid $120 delivery to avoid that 120km round trip. THANKS IKEA. SERVICE SO APPALLING AND A SYSTEM SO STRESSFUL THAT EVEN GREAT FURNITURE WOULD NOT SAVE YOU IF I COULD FIND A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE. You cant get it together for a $6500 order. Why is the order so big? Because I hate dealing with you so much. For a hugely successful company full of so many very clever people, why are you so bad at the absolute basics?? Dante could have used Ikea customer experiences as the second circle of Hell.
Click and collect? 'Click and hold on the phone for hours' is more like it
Made the mistake of attempting to use "click and collect" for a purchase. Had to cancel it due to COVID related issues: no chance. They provide no facility to manage your order online, and I gave up waiting on the phone after an hour (truth be told, I couldn't tolerate their on hold music!). I guess I'll just have to lodge a dispute via my credit card.
Ikea Finance rip off
So in short Ikea Finance wants to have full access to my online banking before approving my application. It was for $8k. I provided salary slips even offered a bank statement but they wanted my internet banking login and password. They can go jump. I bought a $20k car with just my payslips. Requiring full access to someone's internet banking for a loan application is bordering on insane. They will need to store a copy of your statement on their system as proof on how they decided to give or decline the loan. So they will store information and w...ith no transparency on how they will use this or really protect you kind of get where this can end up. Imagine during the enquiry into my bank they hit a bug or got hacked and my account got emptied out, if I called the bank and told them about this, the bank will just laugh and say mate never give anyone your internet banking password. Dodgier than a $7 note in change.
Disgusting customer service
I had my receipt for a Trofast kids toy storage. We were honest about how one piece broke. Really regret buying from Ikea. Crap quality and disgusting customer service. We were told they couldn't replace the part. But to come back with the whole product and they will replace it. We did exactly that and was told we couldn't get it replaced. Cos one the box was open. Of course it was opened. They also said it was dusty. Seriously. Hardly was. They also never helped a lady load her trailor with Ikea purchased products who was in distress that her Father had passed. So we helped her. Absolutely heartless. I wish I had of read the reviews here before purchasing.
Poor customer service, late and frustrating deliveries
I have placed an online order with IKEA. In general, I am happy with the IKEA products, their prices and the online order process. However, it is very unfortunate that IKEA chooses to deliver via Toll. Parcels get stuck forever in the depot close to our home, delivery dates aren’t kept, and orders are only delivered in parts (which makes things even more complicated). Also, the IKEA customer service is non-existent. Very long waiting times on the phone and service agents who simply don’t want to help. I will definitely not order from IKEA again.
Unbelievably poor customer service
Discovered a manufacturing fault with an item just as I was completing assembly so raised a ticket with Ikea online. 10 days later after chasing up twice I receive an email telling me they cannot send a single part and would need to send me an entire unit and that they would collect the old one! I replied advising this sounds strange and to clarify they are sending someone to dismantle my exisiting unit.. this was over two weeks ago!! No emails no response to phone call follow up. Diabolical company
Questions & Answers
Has anyone had problems with the quality of their Ikea kitchen?
We purchased a Hittarp kitchen and it is not lasting too well, mainly due to swelling at the base of cupboards next to dishwasher and under sink. It’s just general water that you would get when emptying dishwasher and washing up but the cupboards just seem to have a thin layer of laminate covering particle board and melamine.
Ikea say we have no warranty due to the problem being water damage - which is essentially a bit of water or drips when emptying dishwasher.
Hi Julie, my builder only got part way through the installation before seeing how poor the materials were. The smallest amount of water caused instant swelling and the back 'wall' of cupboard (sorry not technical language) is honestly like cardboard inside; (it literally can be ripped once a nail goes in) I really regret buying it. It was in fact so bad that I've had it pulled out before completing and gone with another brand of DIY kitchen. I'm not sure what redress there is but the materials are not fit for purpose I believe. I would be happy to be contacted by IKEA service department, though from previous experience customer service is not one of their strong points.
I should be more specific about my last comment about customer service. In general, I like shopping at IKEA and have only had a problem when it comes to making a complaint. On an earlier occasion, I was greatly inconvenienced by their failure to collect a mattress when a new one was delivered and despite 3 separate visits to the store, and being given a case number etc, I was never contacted and had to resolve the problem myself.
