Ilve ILD88B Questions

Ten days ago I moved into a new house which was fitted with Ilve kitchen appliances. The induction cooktop, model number ILD9E, will not work on my smaller pots. The manual stipulates a minimum base size of 100mm and my smallest pot has a base of 120mm. Even the pot the next size up will not work. Can you tell me what the fault may be in my cooktop?

There seems to be some confusion between an ILD88b and the ILD 9E. I replace my ILD88b because the rotary temperature control was impossible to work when using more than one element. Tapping or sliding around the control just wouldn't work properly. That Top was replaced with an ILD9E which has a simple + or - temp. control which works much better, but now 1/2 my pots don't work on it. They are a mix of old and brand new induction pots of the correct size but the cooktop does not recognize them so it won't turn on. The pots worked on the 1st top but not the second. The general manager of Eurolinx, the suppliers, finally rang me and told me to P off. Very Nice !! I fought for many months with Eurolinx who refuse to admit that their product is crap. Pots that work on every other induction top will not work on the ILVE. I gave up and purchased a conventional Beko cooktop for $850 which works better with all our pots . My Ilve dishwasher has required two repairs and our Ilve stove has required two new control boards. As far as I am concerned all Ilve product is cheap rubbish . This is all in a $1.2 Million new unit . I am " Not Happy Jan."

Dear John, the critical factor is the diameter of the section that contains iron as that is the section that's heated during the induction process. Unfortunately not all induction cookware is of the same quality. Tests in our lab have shown that the time to cook something can vary by a factor of 3!
