 AI reviews summary

The sentiment for InstantScripts is largely positive, with most users praising the service as a fast, convenient, and affordable alternative to traditional GP visits, especially for routine prescriptions and medical certificates. However, a significant segment of users reported extreme dissatisfaction regarding unpredictable wait times, unexpected "private" prescription costs, and being charged for consultations where the requested service was ultimately denied.

Pros
Convenience and Accessibility: Users frequently highlight the ease of obtaining scripts and medical certificates from home, particularly for those in rural areas or when local GPs are fully booked.
Speed of Service: Many experiences include receiving a doctor’s call-back and an electronic script within minutes of submitting a request.
Professional Medical Staff: Numerous reports describe the telehealth doctors as thorough, empathetic, and professional, often asking relevant medical history questions.
Streamlined Pathology: The service is praised for providing quick access to blood test referrals and fast digital delivery of results, often within 24 hours.
Cons
Wait Time Discrepancies: A recurring issue involves "estimated" wait times of minutes or an hour ballooning into several hours or even days without notice.
Prescription Limitations: Several users were frustrated by receiving scripts with no repeats or being issued private prescriptions that cost significantly more at the pharmacy than PBS-subsidised ones.
Refund and Fee Transparency: Multiple complaints focus on being charged a $49 consultation fee only to be told the medication cannot be prescribed online, with subsequent difficulty obtaining a refund.
Technical and Support Failures: Some users reported missed calls that were marked as "answered," difficulty reaching human support, and glitches with the online chat bot.
Verdict

InstantScripts is a highly effective solution for routine medical needs like common repeats, medical certificates, and pathology referrals when your regular GP is unavailable. However, users should be cautious when requesting specialised medications or urgent care, as wait times can be unreliable and fees are often non-refundable even if a script is denied.

Diagnosed my issue straight away and prescribed me something for what was going on with me. I had the choice of taking the prescription to the pharmacy myself or I could use Instant Scripts to have them post the medication to me which is really convenient. I will be a return user to Instant Scripts.

The consultation was thorough, I felt confident the doctor believed the drug was safe for me to take (it is!), and the questions he asked were relevant but not at all intrusive.

Paid $49 for a consultation with a doctor. Requested a female. Got a male doctor. Waited one hour for the phone call. Needed two prescriptions. One being for an asthma preventer. For some reason the doctor gave me an attitude when I asked for a repeat prescription for the preventer and he only consented to give me a single prescription. … Read more

However, he only sent through one prescription (not for the asthma preventer). Had to email through a complaint. Prescription was eventually sent through. I would not have received it if I hadnt complained.

I understand that some doctors are more sympathetic than others and services like an online GP are a bit random.

But at the end of the day, I paid $50 for a doctor for a phone call which lasted 3 minutes and 28 seconds, in which I received an attitude for wanting a repeat prescription for an asthma puffer (A puffer I have used before). And the single prescription for said puffer - I had to fight for.

Ridiculous.

I will now try Abby Health. They offer the same services and bulk bill.

waited over 2 hours for a phone call that never happened. then emailed me saying I they tried but I didn't answer. lies. then a phone call after that email, no one on the other end. put back in line to wait another 2 hours for some "doctor" to ask me two questions and send the script. this is a horrible company. how dare you put it back on me that you called when you clearly didn't.

830 - 'our doctors are busy please stay by the phone until they call anytime in the next estimated 10 hours ' So I stay awake until the next morning ? Or is my appointment just for Monday morning ? push your time back and beg you to make reappointment but still give you the option to wait. If you can't do it within a reasonable time frame just say sorry we aren't instant tonight please come back again. 10.5 hrs down to 'within 7.5 hrs then 3 pm Monday before I started shouting ombudsman ! Fair trading ! ( never done it don't really mean it just shout it) 12 hours by the time I was talking to a doctor who was great but difficult to understand. Change your business name to InstantUnlessBusyScript. I actually think this is a good service so reviewing more favourable. Offered half off bill though which was nice thankyou and I did get my script faster than other options. Just say you can't do it though I wouldn't have minded OR hey how's 8am tomorrow sound ?

Follow up from doctor the antibiotics instantscript prescribed were spot on. Thx InstantUnlessBusyScripts, you still alright

Online with ease – Setting up an account with InstantScripts allows me to reorder any medications and prescriptions that I need online and then have them dispensed at my local chemist with ease all without making a doctors appointment. Medical certificates are available online also.

Scam and a joke! – Already on a weight loss medication prescribed by a SPECIALIST. Have lost script and need a replacement. Can prove I take the medication. Was told I would still need a full weight loss consultation - so instead of the advertised $24 for a script, it will cost me $89! What a scam and a joke!!!

Fantastic service, I couldn’t get in to see my regular doctor and this service helped immensely. They called back very quickly and were professional and helpful. I recommend if you need a script urgently.

Follow-up  · The instant script was very helpful especially if you can’t get in to see your regular GP. The call was quick, only taking 5-10 minutes but they did their due diligence to make sure all was ok with the medication. I feel like it is good value because sometimes it’s difficult to get in to see the GP or sometimes you don’t have time to sit in the doctors waiting room.

I paid $49 for an online consultation through InstantScripts to request a prescription. During the consultation the doctor advised that the medication could not be prescribed through the platform and recommended that I see a GP in person instead. … Read more

What was disappointing was that this limitation was not clearly communicated before payment. If I had known this medication could not be prescribed through the service, I would not have booked the consultation.

I contacted customer support requesting a refund of the $49 consultation fee, but the request was declined.

I hope the company improves transparency so patients know beforehand whether a medication can be prescribed through the platform.

Follow-up  · Since my original review, InstantScripts requested my contact details publicly, which I have already provided, however I have still not received any follow-up or response. Instant Scripts, uploaded photos of the area, and within 1 hour had a telehealth appointment with a doctor. He prescribed an antibiotic ointment which was then sent as an e-script. Fantastic service for something like this which can be seen visually.

Follow-up  · Photo upload was easy. Ointment (antibiotic) was a private item - around $20. The spot healed quickly after application of the ointment.

I have used Instascripts to get blood tests for additional results in between when my normal blood tests are ordered by my GP. Instascripts is fast, easy, and inexpensive. Instascripts gives me control over my own health when I want to have more information than the normal medical process allows for.

Very easy process, needed my regular prescription that I had used all my repeats and couldn’t get in to see my GP quick enough. Had a chat with a Doctor over the phone and the script was emailed to me promptly. Never used this service before to get a script, only a medical certificate. Highly recommend!

I paid for a consultation expecting a call only to be advised that my number is incorrect which it isn't and they couldn't get through. You have no way of communicating with them via email or via their help desk. Checked the details online again and they are correct. Re submitted and same response. Because I had no other way of communicating with them I had to cancel the consultation. Annoying!

Getting worse. And failing on providing information and basic services such as script review and approval. I am thinking I will get a new service after what appears to be deliberate misunderstandings from the customer service people.

Just been to collect my script and found the DR had changed what I had been using to a lower dose of what my own DR had prescribed for me. I asked for cortival1/2 and he ordered cortival 1/5. Unethical!! Definitely not pleased.

Great service - awesome if you can’t get into your GP right now but you are needing your medication shortly. Have used this service a number of times - they have options of how you want to receive your script as well.

My son required medication for croup and the doctor listened and prescribed suitable oral medication to assist with this medical condition that had the potential to worsen without intervention. Extremely relieved and grateful for the Doctor’s assistance.

Fantastic no hassle prescriptions. My first visit a doctor called me back with minutes but now I just put in a request and get the prescription sent out within minutes. Great for those prescriptions you take every day. Obviously I would see a doctor if anything else was needed or talk to one of their doctors.

Unfortunately, despite telling my doctor that I needed a tablet or something stronger to combat my issue, she barely listened to me and simply prescribed me something I had already been using. Felt annoyed and not listened to. Disappointed as I’m now out $49 PLUS more money for the “prescription medicine” I was told to get which, surprise surprise, didn’t work, as I’d already told the doctor.

I have used instant scripts before and been happy with the service provided. $19 for 1x prescription of my medication (normally 30 tablets). Having not ordered from the app for a while (maybe 12 months), this time I was offered a consult which would enable me to get “repeat scripts”. The availability as shown on the app was for 1x prescription of… Read more

60 tablets I.e. 2 boxes of 30, plus a repeat script for $49. I took this option as I thought I was would receive a prescription for 60 tablets PLUS a repeat script for another 60. Turns out when I went to the chemist it is only a single dispense of 30 tablets x 2. I could have simply ordered 2 x $19 for $38 (which is 60 tablets), rather than be tricked into thinking I was paying slightly more for a prescription of 60 tablets with a repeat for another 60 for only $49. Even with a return customer code discount which gave me $5 off, I paid $44 for what I thought was a “repeat” script when I could have only paid $38 for the same thing… I was embarrassed when I spoke to the chemist and asked for the repeat script and she said there wasn’t one, and that I shouldn’t use online doctors because they can’t authorise repeats… ?

Charged me money and did the consult, said the script was on the way and it never showed up. I just had my first experience with Instant Scrips. They were efficient but gave no repeats and made the scrip a private one. This meant that for the scrip I paid 5 times the normal price. None of this was explained to me. The service is needed where I live but it needs to be honest to us punters.

Easy to use site. Very helpful for when you need relatively simple medical help but the nature of that help makes it hard to leave the house. For example, it’s outside of normal hours, you need the help in a short amount of time, but you don’t need an emergency department. Good price for service.

Great service, really easy to use. I didn’t wait long till the Dr. called me. Once eveything was approved my e-script came almost instantly. I’ve been using InstantScriots now for many years and have never had an issue.
