 AI reviews summary

The sentiment for InstantScripts is largely positive, with most users praising the service as a fast, convenient, and affordable alternative to traditional GP visits, especially for routine prescriptions and medical certificates. However, a significant segment of users reported extreme dissatisfaction regarding unpredictable wait times, unexpected "private" prescription costs, and being charged for consultations where the requested service was ultimately denied.

Pros
Convenience and Accessibility: Users frequently highlight the ease of obtaining scripts and medical certificates from home, particularly for those in rural areas or when local GPs are fully booked.
Speed of Service: Many experiences include receiving a doctor’s call-back and an electronic script within minutes of submitting a request.
Professional Medical Staff: Numerous reports describe the telehealth doctors as thorough, empathetic, and professional, often asking relevant medical history questions.
Streamlined Pathology: The service is praised for providing quick access to blood test referrals and fast digital delivery of results, often within 24 hours.
Cons
Wait Time Discrepancies: A recurring issue involves "estimated" wait times of minutes or an hour ballooning into several hours or even days without notice.
Prescription Limitations: Several users were frustrated by receiving scripts with no repeats or being issued private prescriptions that cost significantly more at the pharmacy than PBS-subsidised ones.
Refund and Fee Transparency: Multiple complaints focus on being charged a $49 consultation fee only to be told the medication cannot be prescribed online, with subsequent difficulty obtaining a refund.
Technical and Support Failures: Some users reported missed calls that were marked as "answered," difficulty reaching human support, and glitches with the online chat bot.
Verdict

InstantScripts is a highly effective solution for routine medical needs like common repeats, medical certificates, and pathology referrals when your regular GP is unavailable. However, users should be cautious when requesting specialised medications or urgent care, as wait times can be unreliable and fees are often non-refundable even if a script is denied.

Easiest and Quickest ... I rarely go to the doctor and this was my first respiratory complaint since before Covid. I tried a service linked to my health fund and couldnt get their website to work and still waiting for a call back, I googled and looked at a couple and wasnt fussed on subscribing (or the reviews on this webpage), then thought of my… Read more

pharmacist, and looked up Priceline and went through their link. Filled out the form, and as I wanted more than one day on my certificate, got a 20 to 30 min wait for a Doctor. Dr George called in that time, was sensible and didnt make me feel rushed. All done and dusted and back to bed. Oh and got to use my Sisters Club discount, bonus.

Instantscripts is an incredibly unreliable and frequently frustrating experience with doctors who spend no real time doing a proper diagnosis and no real discussion at all. That's when you finally get a chance to speak to them. Their windows of availability are minimal and you can wait days to speak to them if you miss their call. They say they will text ahead of the appointment time but they don't. Not worth the time and effort.

Online with ease – Setting up an account with InstantScripts allows me to reorder any medications and prescriptions that I need online and then have them dispensed at my local chemist with ease all without making a doctors appointment. Medical certificates are available online also.

Kind, Friendly, Professional... definitely use again! – They were obviously busy, but everything feels twice as long when it is Saturday, you're in pain with a dry socket infection and your country town chemist is about to close! Highly recommend InstantScripts! A kind, friendly and professional Australian Doctor called.

Exactly what it’s brand is, it Delivers – Can’t fault it yet. Same price as my GP but no travel, contagious waiting rooms and “appointments” that don’t matter to the medical practice when seen 1 hour later. Relax at home or elsewhere.

This could be a life saving service – During the week it is practically impossibly to get GP appointments and on Easter Weekend completely impossible. Was able to get an urgent prescription for the Covid Antiviral after testing positive. Application process was simple, doctor was polite and thorough. Possibly saved me having a miserable long weekend by being such a good service! Thank you!

My gout flare-up had lasted a week, and I'd had enough. With my local GP appointment still five days away, I decided to try telehealth, and found InstantScripts. Sunday afternoon - 1.5 hour wait, but that was fine because I was told to expect as… Read more

much, and I could have pulled out if I wasn't happy. Really easy to set-up the booking. My consultation was brief and polite. I was prescribed two standard medications. Apart from the likelihood of medication working, I feel better because I was able to be pro-active rather than helpless. I thoroughly recommend InstantScripts for the type of issue I had.

Follow-up  · The medication worked within a day or two to relieve pain and clear up the gout, and I felt better because I was able to do something about my predicament. Medication was prescribed electronically via texts to my phone., which arrived before the short consultation ended. Each text contained a link to a "once-off" secure website. There were no… Read more

Certainly went the extra mile with me. At end of the day much appreciated. Recall using Instant Script some time ago and that's why I used it today, but the service when looking at my fumbling was very welcome.

Follow-up  · I have not used another Telehealth service. I had used instant Scripts in the past and found overall OK. I contacted instantScipts and registered my request not realising there was a 2 hour wait. I had things to do and being disabled using the phone or rather having it with me all the time is not practical for me as I use a mobility scooter. What… Read more

Rip off - pay for two and get one – I would like confirm the issue raised by Jen and Rob in an earlier review. This company offers (under their online system) 2 scripts as provided for under government legislation. This was the request that I made (1 script plus 1 repeat) and then I… Read more

was directed to a "paid for" telehealth meeting where I discussed by medication regime and confirmed my request. I only received a single script and now they want me to pay again for the repeat. I raised this with the "support" people who claim that I did not ask for the repeat. You are a rip off and should be deregistered as a provider. Our health system is in enough of a mess without shonky like you capitalising on and adding to the problem.

Update: A further discussion with the team highlighted that whether you receive a second script is at the Doctor's discretion. Given that this was what I ordered and paid for via their booking system, my position does not change.

Instant scrips offered a second booking for 50% off in an attempt to resolve the issue, but I am not prepared to pay anything when I have already paid for the product in the first place.

There is a real disconnect between the online system (what you order) and what you actually get.

Might be okay if you were in a real jam.

Follow-up  · Never used them again. My view has not changed so nothing further to add. Thanks for checking

So much easier than trying to get appointment at GP and then having to go out when your feeling sick. I just needed some antibiotics. The doctors on instascripts are thorough and they've helped us a few times for different things. Especially on public holidays!

The turnaround time between when I requested the appointment and the doctor called me was with 15 minutes which was amazing. The doctor was certainly professional and polite. My only negative was that I had asked for a female doctor but this really was not a problem for me but may be for others. Would definitely recommend them.

Today I have had a most distressing encounter with Instascripts, owned by WestFarmers, with CEO [Name Removed], namely with a [Name Removed], who then went on to commit Fraud to justify her Breathtakingly Spiteful, Wilful, Deliberate Unprofessional Dr Actions! I phoned for repeat of antibiotics and after agreeing to prescribe 20 Augmentin Duo… Read more

Forte taking 1x3 times a day, when I said I was happy to receive that script, in spite, unprofessionally & fraudulently, decided not to send a script, then she fraudulently charged me $49 for 10 tabs dispensed in June 26 and I paid $49 for then, to justify her TeleHealth Charge she put through prior to todays Consult!

Further, in spite and unprofessionally, she was going to put on my file, any antibiotics requests, I had to see my local Dr and I don't have one atm + I have infected foot and cannot weight bear and Disabled...It defeats the purpose and role of Instascripts!

[Name Removed], CEO WestFarmers, you have a nasty, unprofessional, fraudulent problem in your ranks!

I have used instant scripts numerous times before without issue but wont be using them again. 3 hour wait (which was fine). Consult said I would get a text to say when I am at the top of the queue. Never got the text. Got a text saying we tried to call and you did not answer (no one tried to call). It then said my consult was in progress (still no… Read more

call). Was then sent a message requesting more information to be uploaded to portal. When I tried to go to portal consultation had disappeared. I had to contact support who said they couldnt proceed as I needed to provide a copy of my medication and would only accept a photo of box..just ran out of my medication while waiting to get into my normal GP so already threw box out. They then just cancelled the consultation and told to go to my normal GP. I am trying to but unfortunately there is a two week wait. What is the point of instant scripts now?

I’m so confused by this service. They advertise that they have over 300 registered doctors and that you can speak to a doctor and get a prescription within 60–90 minutes. Instead, I waited over three hours for a callback, only to be told that the person I spoke to wasn’t a registered doctor. She couldn’t prescribe medications or provide medical… Read more

advice because again, not a doctor.

So, what’s the point of offering a prescription service if the person calling you back can’t actually prescribe anything? To make it even more frustrating, this wasn’t even a restricted medication—it was just progesterone. Really disappointing. She said I should go to the emergency room to ask for it. I’m sorry, what!?

I had a very disappointing experience with InstaScript. Before paying the $49 consultation fee, I was asked what medication I needed. I clearly stated that I urgently required a prescription for domperidone to support breastfeeding. I then waited almost three hours for the doctor’s call, only to be told that they cannot prescribe this medication… Read more

via an online consultation.

I completely understand if prescribing domperidone online is against their policy. However, if that is the case, why wasn’t I told this before taking my payment, especially when I had already explained exactly what medication I needed? It would have saved me both time and money, and I could have arranged an appointment with another doctor instead.

To make matters worse, the doctor was defensive, raised her voice during the consultation, and was quite rude. When I questioned why this wasn’t explained earlier, I was essentially told that it was their policy and “not my problem.”

As someone on maternity leave with a newborn, losing $49 and three hours of valuable time was incredibly frustrating. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, both in terms of customer service and transparency.

I don't understand why this company could not give me the amount of medication that I have previously been able to get from another company. I respect he told me it's law but how have I been able to get it from the other company. He seemed in a hurry to get me off the phone but was very polite.

Diagnosed my issue straight away and prescribed me something for what was going on with me. I had the choice of taking the prescription to the pharmacy myself or I could use Instant Scripts to have them post the medication to me which is really convenient. I will be a return user to Instant Scripts.

The consultation was thorough, I felt confident the doctor believed the drug was safe for me to take (it is!), and the questions he asked were relevant but not at all intrusive.

Paid $49 for a consultation with a doctor. Requested a female. Got a male doctor. Waited one hour for the phone call. Needed two prescriptions. One being for an asthma preventer. For some reason the doctor gave me an attitude when I asked for… Read more

a repeat prescription for the preventer and he only consented to give me a single prescription.

However, he only sent through one prescription (not for the asthma preventer). Had to email through a complaint. Prescription was eventually sent through. I would not have received it if I hadnt complained.

I understand that some doctors are more sympathetic than others and services like an online GP are a bit random.

But at the end of the day, I paid $50 for a doctor for a phone call which lasted 3 minutes and 28 seconds, in which I received an attitude for wanting a repeat prescription for an asthma puffer (A puffer I have used before). And the single prescription for said puffer - I had to fight for.

Ridiculous.

I will now try Abby Health. They offer the same services and bulk bill.

Follow-up  · The complaint was handled fairly efficiently. However, had I not complained I know I would not have received the second prescription. The Doctor I spoke to was resistant to me receiving a prescription for an asthma puffer. He did not want to do it. I have used Instascripts to get blood tests for additional results in between when my normal blood tests are ordered by my GP. Instascripts is fast, easy, and inexpensive. Instascripts gives me control over my own health when I want to have more information than the normal medical process allows for.

Very easy process, needed my regular prescription that I had used all my repeats and couldn’t get in to see my GP quick enough. Had a chat with a Doctor over the phone and the script was emailed to me promptly. Never used this service before to get a script, only a medical certificate. Highly recommend!

I paid for a consultation expecting a call only to be advised that my number is incorrect which it isn't and they couldn't get through. You have no way of communicating with them via email or via their help desk. Checked the details online again and they are correct. Re submitted and same response. Because I had no other way of communicating with them I had to cancel the consultation. Annoying!

Getting worse. And failing on providing information and basic services such as script review and approval. I am thinking I will get a new service after what appears to be deliberate misunderstandings from the customer service people.
