Poor products and services - The surface of new dining chairs is peeling when tucked into the dining table which was part of the dining set. James Lane will not replace as they have blamed moisture causing the issue. The items were also not delivered when promised and order not complete. No accountability or discounts were offered. After having viewed various dining tables at Nick Scali, Freedom, Harvey Norman etc. we decided on a rose coloured "Madras" table displayed at James Lane Caringbah. which we based our decision. We returned to the store and were told they could not help us (fail number 1) and it would have to be a "warranty claim". The warranty person falsely stated a different colour was not grounds for a "major failure" and we were only entitled to a replacement (fail number 2).
A replacement was to be sent a week later, but never arrived. Subsequent phone calls revealed a replacement was never ordered. At this stage we were seeking a refund which the warranty team refused to supply (fail number 3).
It seems James Lane would not or could not guarantee that the table would be a similar colour to the display model, nor mentioned this when we ordered the table. (fail number 4). Returning to the store a third time we asked whether an alternative design could be supplied. The store person said they had been instructed by management not to talk to us! This request was subsequently refused (fail number 5)
As we had guests about to stay with us the following month and needed a bigger table, we did not have the luxury of time to take to matter to either NSW Fair Trading or a Small Claims division Court, we accepted an offer of the slightly shop soiled floor model.
James Lane's approach to customer service was appalling and we are of the opinion they breached several aspects of Australian Consumer law when a remedy was sought. Shop there at your own risk IMHO!

Really poor and disappointing – 6 weeks ago I started a discussion with the Caringbah store regarding strange marks on my buffet and bedside table, after using wood cleaner wipes, I thought I was doing the right thing and taking good care of my furniture but it left terrible marks. me it’s on their website and state I can’t help any further. I’ve been a long time customer and always bought expensive furniture, surely good customer service would be to send someone and try to fix it. Insinuating I haven’t taken care of the furniture is really insulting as I’ve tried to do everything right. My days of shopping at James Lane are done. Pretty poor outcome and it took 6 weeks, how does it take 6 weeks to do nothing.
Older people appreciate extra help – Shop staff were terrific but the delivery guys all 3 were also most helpful. My husband is 90 years old so we appreciated all their help. Thank you Nelia Sykes. Engadine

Brilliant service – I purchased a large mat and standing lamp from Caringbah store. My service on the day was excellent and fuss free. Delivery was as expected (only a few days after purchase ). to phone to see if it could be returned and replaced. I received a brand new one and they took the original purchase with them literally the next day. No problems and no need for discussion. The ladies at the store were very professional and prompt with help. I would have no hesitation in buying from the store again.

Very happy with my choice of 2 seater recliner and single recliner – Very happy with the transaction I had with the ladies at James Lane Caringbah, including Vicky and Lis. They worked hard to find me a single recliner from another James Lane store to match the two seater I had chosen. Still Waiting … – We got our dining room table delivered 3 weeks ago which came damaged and was told a full refund would be issued ( $1500 table) still waiting weeks later .. I’ve had to follow up customer service 3 times now .. spoke to someone Monday who said she will get it sorted … and still waiting .. terrible after sales service and don’t think we will buy again and will advise others also … Show details

The customer service was aweful – I purchased a lounge from this store over the phone and measured to make sure that it would fit. When it finally arrived after several weeks wait, it didn’t fit in my apartment. The delivery drivers then misled me by saying that the box was quite bulky and that the lounge could fit without it. didn’t fit. They didn’t even try the fire stairs. So they left it in my car spot. To make matters even worse, they damaged the ceiling in the building quite badly in several spots. Then the company took nearly two weeks to get back to me. After many attempts to contact them they finally caved and said the best they can do is 20% cancellation and a redelivery fee. They also said that they can’t resell the couch. Having worked in furniture for several years, I know that they can resell it. The customer service was terrible and I would not recommend ever dealing with this store.
