Some of the timber around the front & side windows had deteriorated considerably and needed to be replaced. Tyce from Jim’s Handyman viewed the property and provided a quotation and commenced work the next day. His work is of a high standard, the windows look terrific and I am extremely happy with the result. I highly recommend Tyce’s work ethic and the final result of his efforts.

Ridiculous quote to do a job !!!! – Ossmahn, quoted $25K to do job where other qualified tradesperson quote $7.5K. Have used Jim's before but never again. If you didn't want the job just say so don't waste peoples time embarrassing yourself and the Brand with a stupid quote.

Completely satisfied – We are very happy with the work Bahri did putting up barn doors on our study area. They look better than we expected and that’s because Bahri took the time to get it exactly right. He is hard working and I’m guessing, a perfectionist. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him & his wife Mel again. From the first call, the service was excellent, they’re an awesome team. Thank you so much, you’re hard work is very much appreciated.  Show details

Terrible – Bathroom Didn't remove existing tiles or mirror put thick batons on every wall on top of the tiles and mirror then fixed plasterboard to the wooden batons then tiled on the plasterboard then disappeared without a trace leaving sticky silicone to fill gaps that has now shrunk and no mirror and toilet doesn't fit back.

Do not recommend – This was my first and last time using Jim's. On first speaking to Mr Brad C he advised there was an $80 call-out fee followed by $60 an hour, and based on the 5 jobs I discussed with him the time would be approximately 2 hours. Jobs included - changing two lights, hanging 6 pictures, removing/hiding cords hanging from roof, removing soap… Read more

dispenser off wall and putting cover on electronic door opener. When asking to move some cords he made me feel like it was dumb to ask as they could just be pushed into the roof. On changing one of the lights he has cracked it in 2 places, I would have been understanding if he advised me that he had done this rather than finding it after he left. Another task was to hang some pictures on the wall, whilst hanging them on the wall he has scratched the paint. When it was asked why he made three holes instead of one to hang a picture he started to become frustrated and rude. Brad left without completing two jobs, on ringing him to see if/when he was coming back , he wrote back at 8:30pm that night to advise he was to busy and no reply on when he would finish the work. That night I get an invoice for $300 noting 2.75 hours of work. This was rather upsetting and rude as firstly he had not completed the agreed upon work, secondly the invoice is much higher than quoted. I emailed him to ask how he did not have time to complete the work as he first told me it would take two hours so I did not understand how he did not have time on the day to complete the work. I also mentioned the damaged light and the cost of the invoice as he was only here for 1 hour. He emailed back to advise it was because of the equipment why the price was so high and changed the amount to $200, I asked why it was $100 more when there was nothing purchased for the jobs completed- I had to ask this twice as he would say it doesn't matter I changed it. He eventually answered the question Which he replied - I brought in two large boxes of screws. Very hard to miss. Wall toggles and hooks and screws. But besides the point. This still does explain such a large increase in price $200 is still more than the initial quote considering he only attended for 1 hour. The price should have been $120 based on $80 call-out and $60 for the 1 hour of work. I have lost trust in this company if they just change their mind on pricing on the day and cannot explain how they got to a certain pricing. I am very disappointed in this whole experience. He did not seem to display any care or pride in the work he was completing. I now still have to get someone out to complete the work, so this has been a stressful experience for me. I asked him where I could raise a complaint which he advised there was no-one else I could speak to he was the manager.

Terrible and dangerous workmanship – If you are looking for a professional business to do basic projects, absolutely do not waste your time with Jim's Handyman. This company only provides franchises for amateur tradesmen that are poorly equipped, poorly trained, and lack professionalism to do anything more than very basic work. Furthermore, the company itself is unwilling to provide… Read more

adequate support or a refund for poorly built projects that the franchisee refuses to fix. I was left with stairs that were dangerous and not build to Queensland Building Code and a door that would not function properly and had a complete lack of security for my home. After months of fighting to have the issues fixed, I had to fix the door myself with more expense and was told by Jim's Handyman Corporate that they were unwilling to refund me because I had fixed the problem myself. If anyone would like a full write-up of this issue, I am happy to share everything about it. Please don't waste your time and money. Hire a legitimate builder or tradesman with a good reputation.

Rude, Abrasive and worst workmanship – Asked Josh from Jim Maintenance to fix a gate who hinges had come off a post- after the job, he was so rude when I told him that the screws his used would hold the weight of the gate and weren’t flush- I could see this wouldn’t hold, but was told I could contact him if this occurred. Not interested in your business – Needed a handyman service to repair a gate in Melbourne. Jim's Handyman Services say they can do any job and have thousands of franchises everywhere. So I called the number listed on their website 131548 (page 2) and it was a wrong number. So called the main number 131546 and was asked for name address phone and email before I could describe the… Read more

job. After describing the job (on a phone connection where I could barely understand the receptionist) I was told they would get back to me 'within 7 days' - bad luck if anything was urgent. Then shortly after the call, I received what looked like a form email that simply said something like, 'We regret due to work loads we cannot help you'.

Incredibly dismissive and not helpful in the slightest. Avoid anything to do with this mega franchise 'Jim's'

Responsive and reasonable – After I lodged a request for a quote online I received a call back immediately from Alex at the Cranbourne branch. He arranged to come out and was responsive and easy to deal with. The quote came back quickly and was very reasonably priced. Whilst we aren’t yet in a position to start the work, it was so nice to actually find tradespeople who respond and who are a pleasure to deal with!

Just no idea how to run a business – All I wanted to do was speak to someone to see whether they can do a job for me from a technical perspective, so I rang the 1300 number. Get asked for my name and suburb which is fine as they have to find someone in the area. Then asked me for my address. I said I don't want to just give my address out at this stage which I think is fair enough. I… Read more

was then told that unless I give my address, they can't proceed and get someone to call me. That's fine I said, I will ring someone else and give them my business. It's just stupid, mind numbing policy that has no logic at all and certainly cost them my potential business. And reading through other comments here, it seems that no matter how hard you try to give them your business, they don't want it. Business must be very good for them if that's their attitude.

rude and arrogant – (Gippsland area, Monday) A women and guy came to look at my job, the women refused to shake my hand (great start) then im told they will send me a quote and start the job by the end of the week and by the way you dont look like you can pay, (what the?) i stupidly say nothing to that comment. my calls so i call head office, head office said they will get the tradies to call me asap, within 10 minutes the women tradie calls me telling me she can do the job next week, i then agree and leave it at that, mind you still no quote, 10 minutes later the women texts me saying , actually i cant do it next week and she now doesnt know when they can do the job. Oh my god! i wasted all week for nothing! i ring head office again and i told them what happen, head office said they can not help me and they will pass on my feed back to management. And thats the end of my experience with Jims .......... I put it down to one thing, these tradies are picking and choosing which jobs they want to do, if your job is not interesting they will go elsewhere, and instead of saying to you,"we dont want to do this job" they give you the no show hoping you will disappear. I will never ever contemplate calling Jims for anything! not mowing, building , tv installation, dog washing etc etc...............NEVER!!!

Thrilled about the excellent quality of work – Tim from Jim's Handyman Ringwood repaired a leaking roof and went the extra miles to make sure of that. He then repaired our laundry floor and basically renovated the laundry when the full damage was discovered. Tim kept us updated throughout the process. great job of tiling and installing the cupboard. Tim was a great communicator and no small request was knocked back. He did a small carpentry job in the kitchen using his flair and creative skills. His attention to detail was most impressive. He was also terrific and cleaned up after having to do some messy work. We are so grateful we found such a clever helpful professional "Handyman". Thankyou Tim. We won't be going anywhere else. We already have you booked for more work. From Cate and Peter.

October 14th 2019 Update: Creative Flair and craftsmanship.

Tim Stucbury has visited our new home and is currently drawing up plans for a new deck. He discussed the materials we needed to look at that would help create the aesthetic as well as practical needs for a shaded and light allowance family entertaining area. We know we are double dipping here because of Tims creativity and can do know how. At the moment the area is a blank canvas. I will keep you updated throughout this project.

Poor customer service & workmanship – The carpenter from Jims Building Maintenance had done some timber replacements on our timber deck in December 2014. I requested a quote [ via Jims Building Maintenance in 2019 ] to replace some faulty timbers. I have unsuccessfully tried to ring the carpenter again, however, he has not rung me back since. I got 3 quotes from other carpenters,… Read more

and employed another [ NOT Jims Group ] tradesman to fix this job. He advised me that some of the timbers used were not suitable for outdoors and had been only attached with glue & non galvanised nails. These timbers had therefore curled up and become unattached.

This poor service means I will not use or recommend anyone else to use Jims Group services.

Never ever go with Jim's Building, unqualified and incompetent workers! – The Jim's representative ruined our property and causes so much pain and grief to my family. BE CAREFULL WITH JIM"S NON REGESTED BUILDERS IN VICTORIA – Just before Christmas I called Jim's Building service for a bathroom and ensuit renovation in Mill Park VIC, gave them my details 20 min later i get a call back from a contractor / builder OTG RENOVATIONS & HOME IMPROVMENTS. I told him that I'm looking for a ball park figure. He gave me a ball park between $15K - $20K and he sounded like he new… Read more

what he was talking about in which I got what i needed. "Thank You for that" ,"I'll Speak to the wife and get back to you so we can arrange appointment after Christmas". I did a little homework and went on the VBA (Victorian Building Authority) website and learnt a little about building laws and requirements.

In the state of Victoria, states any domestic building works more than $5000 must enter into a Major Domestic Building Contract in witch that it can only be performed by a Registered Building Practitioner.

All Registered Practitioners have a Licence number starting with DB- then its limitation and number, Example: DB-U 00000, DB-L and so on or DB-M and so on. (Domestic Builder - Unlimited , Limited or Manager)

So after Christmas I sent the Builder a text requesting his Registered Practitioners Licence number so i can check it on the VBA website. 20 minutes later he calls and tells me that there in the process and then waffled on about the VBA is a SCAM and that it make it more expensive and that he chooses not to be part of the VBA and that he is backed up by Jim's Building Services. So i said I'll call you in the new year and Left it at that.

SO LET ME TELL YOU ALL, DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND BE CAREFUL OF FRUDULENT BUILDERS WORKING UNDER JIM"S BUILDING SERVICES & MAINTENANCE BANNER..

Don't bother with the Geelong franchise – Requested a quote. Instead Cosmos called me to ask me to take pictures of the area and measure it up (for a deck) then he'd call back with a quote. Essentially, I was to do all of the work for the quote, and he didn't need to even attend the address. Not a great start, and as I am not interested in poor customer experiences, I am not going ahead with Jims.

A Job not quite right – After receiving quotes, we (body corporate and I) agreed to use [name removed] from Jim's Property Maintenance Services in Lyndhurst to replace a boundary fence and the neighbour's retaining wall. [name removed] completed the job in a tidy fashion but there are a few problems that are yet to be resolved: 1). Although he used galvanised screws to… Read more

fix the rails to the fence posts, [name removed] used bright (not gal) nails on every fence pailing. After recent rain, there is evidence of surface rust already.

2). Upon being asked to return and use gal nails on each existing pailing, [name removed] provided a picture of the nails he stated he had used to fix at least 2 nails per pailing but upon careful inspection NO galvanised nails have been (additionally) fixed to each pailing. So I expect within 3 to 5 years, the pailings will fall off!

3). The retaining wall leans on an angle away from the built up land so I expect with additional stress from soil and root expansion and soil contraction, will eventually lean even further and may collapse.

No tradesperson should ever use non-galvanised nails on an outside job so there is no excuse for using "bright" nails to fix pailings to rails, especially with the use of treated pine that contains chemicals to accelerate the corrosion process....shame, shame, shame [name removed]!!

Jims - Don't bother!! – I booked a job for some timber repairs and plumbing to be done on my rental property. The timber job was ok, but the plumbing was a nightmare. leaking in a few locations. He said they would come back fix it and re-test it. Again after I was given assurances that the plumbing was tested and there were no leaks, I found leaks again.
