Quick job done – Langwarrin VIC Matt was on time, professional and fixed my problem quickly after I had reception issues after installing ducted air con and heating
Price gaugers – Will try to swindle you out of money, they refuse to tell you an estimate of what a service could cost over the phone despite providing details of your home and evap AC unit and stick you with a quote close to a $1000 for the basic service which is essentially a clean up and check of the unit. Sounds like they prefer to drive around charging call… Read more
out fees.
I just hired another independent technician and he charged no call out fee + service at $130, which is less than the cost of Jim's call out and replaced a capacitor for an extra $70. Asked him about Jim's quote and he was shocked at the ridiculous price.
Originally went with Jim as I falsely believed they were a reputable company, won't make that mistake again for any of Jim's branches
Do not do it!!! – Charged you a large quote fee only to then provide you a ridiculous amount to actually do the job. We got somebody else for 1/3 of the quoted price. 0/10 if we could.

dont waste ur call out fee! – After being rescheduled our appointment 2 times, the technician finally come, he only spends 5~7min looking at out split system trying to find out what is this system is " no knowledge " and then he determined that our system need a service! And send a quote for $2800 for a service, no parts included!, i called another technician, no call out fee… Read more
and he come and test the unit, and fix my problem with clean ac wall filter inside the house! And thats it! Working fine now, what a rip off jim air-conditioning!see attached my quotation
Positive reviews
New air conditioner top service – Air conditioner fault Dave gave a great factual run down of all options available and what would be best direction to take .Decided to install new unit speedy service within same day very happy
Gas heater install – Had Jim’s out to inspect our heater due to it not working effeciently, upon them checking over it was informed that the unit was no good and replacement was needed, they replaced the unit same day.
Metropolitan for the win! – Christian was a great help. I saw him leading the job in such a professional manner. Such a credit to the company. Highly recommend and Jim’s air conditioning for evap cooler replacements.
Negative reviews
Outrageous – Called Jims for a rooftop evap that was blowing in hot air. They sent out an affiliate for $145 a service call. I should have realized that they were preparing to gouge when I repeatedly asked the operator over the phone how much a standard service and clean would be and they kept dodging the question and said they couldn't say until the unit was… Read more
inspected. That should have trigered an alarm with me there but I foolishly went along with the booking. They sent out an affiliate called upside down and after a 5 minute inspection on a 6 year old Braemar unit was quoted $990 for a clean and a further $1990 to replace a faulty dump valve plus $49 for a plumbers disclaimer warranty. $3000 in total. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. A local plumber was called the following day to come out and replaced the faulty dump valve, which Jims said needed replacing, with a new one - he quoted it would approximately be $200 for parts plus labour for an extra $300. Total $500. However when on site and after a proper inspection he found that the bottom rubber seal on the dump valve had dried out and that only needed replacing. Total repair cost $150. Time taken to repair was 10 minutes. Honest tradespeople do exist! If you don't mind paying 5 to 6 times more than what the job is worth, then call Jims, they'll be happy to send out one of their unashamed bandits.
Jim's evaporative cooler repairs. DONT BOTHER...ITS A RIP OFF – Was asked for a call out fee of $141.90 on credit card before a technician could be sent out. This was arranged for the next day for between 5pm to 8 pm. Heard nothing until a sms at 9.15 pm saying Hi, Thank you again for booking with us, We are committed to providing you with the best service possible, in order to satisfy this we will be… Read more

For any queries please contact us on, 1300 014 333 Next thing I receive a phone call at 11.03 pm and a technician is in a van outside at my address. I am a retiree and was in bed asleep. He asked what the problem was and I asked him how was he going to assess the unit on the roof at this time of night. He did not leave his van and gave an exorbitant quote . I was not happy and said I wouldn't be paying that much. The follow up email did not have the quote written down . It was just a receipt to say that he had attended and spoken to me on the phone thereby fulfilling that a technician would be on site. I rang Jim's, main number, to complain. The receptionist said she would take my complaint to the managers and get back to me. Still waiting. I would advise people to not even consider using this franchise.
Do not book under any circumstance!!!!! – Seriously worst mistake ever to book a service technician through this service. I totally regret not reading the reviews here first!!! First of all, no one from Jim’s arrives…. Instead they send out someone from Metropolitan company which is the first place spot on Google, and tries to rip you off! Guy arrived after 11pm and without even looking… Read more
at the air conditioner started selling us a new one for over $12,000 - same air conditioner that other providers do for about $4,000. Hard selling too! This is an absolute scam and the government bodies that protect consumers should do something about it. Gives the Jim franchise a bad name! Be smart and don’t bother paying a call out fee and get nothing in return!!!!!! Use a reputable company! And don’t use Metropolitan air conditioning company either! Same deal and complete rip off!

Biggest scam going – Asked for a technician to come out and give a report to say the unit was functional as a part of our house sale conditions then paid $149 call out fee. I was promised by the the people on the phone that this was not a problem to then be told I have to pay $1049 to get a service of an EVAP Aircon then we will give you the report to say it's… Read more
functional. he had already told me in his words the unit is functional and their is nothing broken but I can't give you the report until I do the service WTH. I waited the best part of the day whilst moving house for him to turn up between 12pm and 2pm and they didn't arrive till 5pm cheers for wasting my day, time and money CNTS
Absolute price gouging scum – I needed our aircon degassed asap and disconnected ( were in the process of demolition) and I’d already moved the unit off the wall with pipes still attached and laid on the floor. Power was already disconnected. Paid $140 call out fee for some young buck that looked nervous as hell as I had to tell him what needed to happen (just degass and I… Read more
can move the rest). He went back out to his van for 25min and came back with a quote of over $2000. He knew it was a rip off I could tell he was nervous about telling me the price. I thanked him for wasting my time and money and sent him on his way… Called up Jim’s air con back up complaining about a pathetic sick price gouging attempt in which the guy couldn’t of cared less but quickly said he’d refund the $140 call out fee. Had a local plumber come around and charged me nothing it was that small of a job. I said to my partner, imagine if that was an older person they did that too who didn’t know any better and trusted them, they would have paid it…. Well… guess who was just on A Current Affair for that exact reason .. METROPOLITAN - the contractor Jim’s air con uses. Will never use any of Jim’s services again.
Jim's air-conditioning, rubbish – After returning home after a month away, I realised that my gas central heating unit wasn't working. Being a weekend I was unable to get in touch with the real-estate company who manage my property (I live in a rental). I contacted Jim's because they're a well-know provider and their advertisement said that they provide a 24/7 service and in the… Read more
middle of winter I obviously wanted the problem fixed ASAP. So when I called on a Saturday they told me that the earliest that they could get a technician out was the following Monday (hardly a 24/7 service). I was disappointed, but agreed (which I wouldn't have if I'd read some of these reviews, as I've seemingly fallen for the same things). They charge a callout fee of over $140 which I was required to pay over the phone prior to a technician attending, and when the technician arrived they said that another person could perform a service later that day which usually solved 80% of issues. I agreed to have the second technician perform this service which cost approximately $1000. The service didn't solve the problem and I was then told that the unit required a new PC board which would cost around $2000. Fast forward four weeks and five phone calls later, they finally installed the PC board. This is after I'd pestered them and they told me they'd get back to me when the part arrived as they were experiencing 'supply chain issues.' I'm skeptical of this because when I repeatedly called their customer service people all-of-a-sudden the part magically appeared and they could be here the same day. After the installation of this new part (that I'd been waiting four weeks for) the unit still didn't work. The technician then told me that the unit required a new combustion fan with an approximate cost of $2000. At this point I felt that this could keep going on and on and on if they kept misdiagnosing the fault (which the technician made excuses for) and cost me more money. They also suggested that I could simply replace the entire unit for the cost of a further $3000 ('special deal' they said because I had already spent so much on parts that didn't rectify the issue). I was already down over $3000 and decided to get in touch with my realtor (who I'm still waiting on for a call back) as this additional cost would take the entire cost to over $5000 which is obviously ridiculous when it's not even my house. If I had my time again I'd have waited until the Monday after finding the heater was broken and just called the agent, because they have people of their own who are no doubt effective because they're paying for the service. I'm over $3000 down and all I've got to show for it is a (still) broken heating unit. Thanks Jim's.
If I'm required to do anymore out of my own pocket I'll call a local tradie for sure. The smaller places rely on word of mouth and aren't simply contracted to a big name, and therefore need to provide a quality service if they want to stay in business.
If I had the option of giving zero stars, I would. Rubbish.

What a joke – Charged $144 call-out to receive quote of near $7000 to replace an inverter air conditioner - when questioned regarding quote I received machinations regarding Covid and difficult installation (it’s a replacement). Provided feedback about paying the call-out and not receiving a realistic quote and was given excuses including ‘providing a premium… Read more
service’ and having customer call centre - WOW it’s an aircon - I’m not responsible for Jim’s service model. Avoid this service like the plague - borders on a scam. Disgusting.
How is this business still allowed to operate – Called Jim's a/c service to look at ducted split a/c that had stopped working and showing error code on control panel. Was charged a booking/callout fee of over $140. When the guy arrived he was not interested at all at looking at the error code or unit. After spending 15 minutes advising I would have to sign up for a service, option of three… Read more
starting from around $2000 upwards for them to find the fault, then to repair that fault would be extra plus parts. Complete rip off. Please do not use them.
Absolute scam!!!!!! Would give zero stars if possible – I contacted Jim's without (foolishly) checking the online reviews to look at our intermittently working split system. Made a booking and paid the $140 for the guy to arrive late (outside the 3 hour window) take a 2 minute look at the unit without even looking up the fault code then offering a $1000 service and repairs. As it was urgent I stupidly… Read more
paid the money to then have a different guy turn up and "service" the unit the next day which consisted of him cleaning it over the course of one hour and leaving. The unit was operational when he left (which it was sporadically anyway) and by the next day had stopped working again. I called back to complain and was told a technician would arrive between 1 and 3pm. At 3:30pm I called and queried there whereabouts and was told I was next in line. I told them I had to leave for work and they asked me to give them a courtesy call half an hour before I departed (despite me staying home all day for them and not receiving any sort of communication). Tech turned up the following day and actually diagnosed the fault but was then given three quotes, two to replace the unit (over $5000 and over $6000) and one to replace internal componentry $1600 (with no guarantee this would work). Have had quotes from actual reputable companies to repair for a quarter of the quoted price or replace for 1/3 of the price. Absolute scam artists, do not waste your time and your money on these charlatans !!!! I have contacted the ACCC and lodged a complaint.
Don’t waste your time and money – Very nice little scam they have going here. $140 to come out to your house and then give a crazy high quote that no-one in their right mind would accept. I was quoted $1900+ just to remove a split system from a house. Couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This is the kind of operation that gives tradespeople a bad name. Show details
Go with someone else! – I paid $140 for someone from jims to come to my unit and write up some quotes for me for a split system for my spare room, and I was really quite disappointed with the service. I was given 3 different quotes, all between $8000 and $9000. FOR A SPLIT SYSTEM!!? Lol I did some research after he left and I was really disheartened to learn that the… Read more
split systems he was recommending for me were all for a much larger space. The bedroom i was trying to heat is only about 2 metres by 3 metres, and he was quoting me on air-conditioners that were suitable for 20metre x 20metre areas. I had a second person from a different company come and quote me for a split system for the same room, (who didn't charge me any call-out fee at all) and the all inclusive quote was only $1738. Massive difference in service!!
Very high quote following paid call out fee – Organised to have Jim’s Aircon come out to clean and have a look at a split system unit not blowing hot air, thinking the unit being cleaned will fix the issue. Following paying the $140 deposit, a tech from Metropolitan attended and quoted $1239 for a jetwash and service. They said another tech would come out and do this not the one that had… Read more
attended. I couldn’t pay and asked them to leave. I’m not sure why it’s so high. Look elsewhere if you just need an aircon cleaned.
Scam - massive overprice after charging callout – When you charge a $100 callout fee then massively overprice the product advertised, this is a scam. Nobody will pay $1000 for an air-conditioner service, and if they do that's even worse. It should be illegal to charge a callout fee if your quoted service doesn't fall within a reasonable industry standard.
Rip Off – They didn't turn up within my 3 hour window so I had to call the call centre to see what was going on. Eventually turned up: the call out fee of $140 entailed a 5 minute visual review & I was advised of a service costing over $1000 before parts, & the possible need to replace the entire unit. So feel like I've been ripped off, wasted $140 and am now looking for a local honest tradie.
Dodgy, dishonest gives the industry a bad name – Had one of my tenants contact me the air-conditioning unit wasn’t working/heating. So I looked online and found Jim’s ( I wish I’d read the reviews first, I would have never used them) I contacted them had to pay a callout fee for $141 and the guy came out and then quoted me to fix a ducted Aircon unit which was old and redundant. The old ducted… Read more
aircond was replaced years ago with a split system air con. He quoted me over 3000 dollars just to jetclean the ducted. He obviously is poorly trained as he didn’t even pick that the ducted had been disconnected and was replaced with a split. The split needed the service. I sniffed a rat and then contacted another company to come and have a look. The new guy found the issue serviced and repaired it for $280! Shame on you Jim’s I will never use any Jim’s products as I don’t trust your company or anything to do with it! I did ring up and complain. I did get my call-out refunded. But still it should never have happened! Stay away they are daylight robbers!

Rip Off and Opportunistic. Avoid at all costs – Per other reviews, I too got ripped the $140 for someone to come out to fix our heater which had stopped working. My wife was home when he arrived and without doing any diagnostics he told wife that it would cost $3,800 PLUS PARTS to service my unit with no guarantee that he could diagnose and fix the problem. As an alternative, we could instead… Read more
pay $30,000 for a new unit...oh and we could pay via Humm! Bonus!
When asked how long the service would take, he said about 1.5hrs. So the service quote was $3,800 for 1.5 hours work with no parts included..or I could buy a new $30,000 unit! Pretty sure brain surgeons don't get paid that much! Realising we were being taken for a ride, I asked him to send his quote to my email and declined his offer to service immediately. I called another company to come out. The issue was diagnosed within 10 minutes, and I paid a TOTAL of $600 to fix the the heater including call out fees, parts, labour and service. The heater now works perfectly. You would think that using a so-called reputable company like Jims that there would be more consumer protection!
Over price quotes – The call out fee of Jim's Air conditioning was $140. The technician arrived 5 hours late. Quote to service the unit was over $1240 and replacement unit with labor $5039. I finally got a brand new unit fully installed by a professional installer for $1400. What a rip off quote.
I would give zero stars if I could!!! – I booked a technician to come out and clean and service my gas log heater. I have this done annually however the company I usually use were booked out. My heater is in good working order and I have a co2 monitor installed so I know it is not leaking and is safe. I particularly just wanted the black marks cleaned from the glass screen. The… Read more
technician surveyed my home stood back from the heater and told me a clean and service would be $2500. I paid the $141 call out booking fee and asked the technician to leave. He was very patronising toward me. I would NEVER recommend this company!! I could have had a whole new heater installed for this price let alone just a clean and dust out! Since then I have had someone come out and the job was completed for $360.
What a rip off! – $140 call out fee. Arrived and quoted price to service 2 x split systems that are in working condition = $2500 I could buy a new aircon. Last service was $140. Avoid, speak to a local company and get a better deal.
Disappointing and a rip off – We wanted someone to look at our aircon to see if a broken blade could be replaced. Paid $140 call out fee and we’re then told that a service would have to be done to ascertain what the problem was before anything could be done. $990!!! There’s nothing wrong with aircon system. The young man who came out said there was nothing he could do. Those rules came from head office. Don’t waste your money. Show details
Distrustful – When my technician finally arrived at 4pm after been given a time between 9am-11am, one of the first things he asked was whether I lived here with anyone. In hindsight I should have said that I lived with my husband. He had a quick look at my system (under 10 minutes) and then gave me a quote for over $2,000 to repair it. I asked if there was any… Read more
cheaper options and he said no. I have since had other companies through and had the problem resolved for $350. I had to pay a call out fee to Jim’s of $150 which was a complete waste of money as well as my time. This is a disgrace.
ABSOLUTE RIP OFF! – As a lot of the other people on here have said, Jim's Air Conditioning is an absolute rip off. First they make you pay $140 for a person to visit your house and do absolutely nothing, then they quote nearly $3000 for a 1.5 hour service. I am livid. It is a complete joke and I will NEVER use this company again. I will also tell anyone who will listen, to not use this company. Believe the 1 star reviews - they are factual.
Totally overpriced – I agree with Zen S's opinion. Luckily, I was so taken aback by their quote that I got a second quote and ended up paying less than half of what Jim's quoted.
Extremely overpriced – should have checked product review before going with Jim's. There are other decent Jim's services, but this one is a rip off. $140 for booking plus a total of $1239 for what I consider as basic AC service. The initial inspection was done very lightly and I did not question because of blind trust to Jim's branding. After it's all said and done I… Read more
can say that the price is truly, overpriced. It does makes me question about other Jim's services out there - I guess the moral of the story is: always check for reviews.
With price of things going up, power bills going up, interest rate hikes - and this. Charging overpriced cost for a basic service ... I'd say this company is not ethical and I will not recommend nor use their service again.
Only good thing I can say is that they are on time.
Make you pay $140 booking fee and then quote over $1000 for servicing aircon – They make you pay a booking call-out fee of $140 saying if anything else needs to be done they will give you quote before doing it. Then someone comes out who isn't even able to do anything other than give you the quote for someone else to come out which will be over $1000. And their "diagnosis" could have been made on what was said as they did not open up the unit at all to look at what was going on. Show details
Don’t waste your money – Needed a quote to fix our gas log fire . Paid in advance to book a time. Took time off work to be home . The rang half hour late to say that they were not coming waited a week for them to show again and another company arrived and quoted more than the original price of the heater to fix it Read the reviews and give them a wide birth
Disgusting company – Paid $132 for absolutely nothing. Do not book with this company, I paid $132 which I thought was for someone to come and service my gas log fire and do some carbon monoxide testing, then, if anything else needed doing, I was then to pay extra. Instead all I received was someone to knock on my door and tell me it would be over $1000 for someone… Read more
to come and service the heater. I am appalled that this company makes their money in this way, if all I wanted was a quote, I could ring direct and receive this. Not pay $132 for the privilege. Shame on you for taking advantage of people.
A good experience – Jaimie was responsive, professional and overall great to deal with. Answered all questions that I asked of him and explained it clearly.
