SCAM-Overpriced and unprofessional-Avoid – I needed to replace my hot water system and thought the best way to avoid surprises is to go to a well known brand. confirmation/receipt email arrived with the "Plumbing & Gas Australia" title and the website is in the net.au domain, but I expected it to be in the com.au. I called the call center again and told them I expect a Jim's vehicle to visit my place, and they assures me this would be the case. Wrong! The technician arrived in the "UpsideDown" branded vehicle. His quote was very high, almost 2.5 times of the market price. The cylinder that is being sold for almost $1500 online is quoted almost $8,000 plus other costs. The total cost should have been less than $4,000, but is quoted more that &10,000. I will never trust similar businesses again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

excellent after hours service – Nathan came out at 10pm to fix a leaking pipe in my kitchen. He was there within 40 minutes of me calling and did a quick and efficient job, explaining what he was doing. Show reply

Good in an emergency – We had raw sewerage leak due to a blocked drain, so it was something that needed fixing quickly. Zak came pretty much on time and offered us two potential prices, depending on the source of the problem. He was polite and helpful and fixed the problem, even offering advice on a related leaky pipe issue. I feel the service is quite expensive though and would probably only use in an emergency like this one. Show details ·  1

SCAM - DO NOT GO WITH JIMS – Played a $140 call out fee. I was quoted $4097. RIP OFF. I contacted a local plumber and he did the work on the same day for $860 The part that sticks out to me is Jim's saying, "We can't quote over the phone. But arrives and says its a fixed price." Which could have been over the phone, but then they wouldn't get the job. Absolute scam artists. I will never be using Jim's service ever again. Disgusting.

Scam. Avoid – We assumed Jim's was a reputable business. We were wrong. $140 "quote" fee to come out for a plumbing job. Fair enough, as with any reputable business, the quote fee forms part of the price of the job. WRONG! Not with Jim's. it was that came out to our house, it seems they have numerous shell companies all under the "Jim's" banner. In any case it will be the last time we use the services of any Jim's business and will advise as many of our friends and family as possible to avoid. Amazing that ACCC hasn't shut this business down.

Ridiculously overpriced – Charged $140.00 just for a quote. Quote came in as follows: $2,939.00 to connect a gas stove. Includes a relocation of pipework literrally 300mm from original locaction. I have had multiple other quotes between $600 and $800 for the work, Avoid these guys, Mr Emergency and Metropolitan who are all operated by the same guys. SA-131729.

Scammers. Crooks. Avoid at all costs – After the $140 non-refundable fee to come out and quote, I was quoted $590 to change a tap washer! I'll say that again ... and additional $590 to change a tap washer on top of the $140 already paid. Although advertised as Jim's Plumbing, the guy who turned up was from Metropolitan Plumbing, but also using the trading name Upside Down.

Avoid. Totally Ripped off – Was Charged $141 before the consultant would even enter my house and then proceeded to charge me ~1.6k for the replacement of all my hot water valves when there was only a leak from a tiny portion. that could not get wet and it was after hours so had no choice but to proceed but upon looking up alternative pricing I am kicking myself. You can get a brand new hot water system installed for ~2k so I will be submitting an inquiry to the ACCC as this is completely predatory.

Rip off dodgy plumbers – These guys are complete theives. Had a callous and was told it would cost $140 to be given a quote. The guys rocks up 2 hours late and says it will cost $739.99 for ONE HOUR to investigate where the leak in my bathroom is ON TOP OF the call out free plus addition costs for repairs not to mention that he would not be responsible for any damage that might be caused. Complete robbery!

Do Not Use – Absolute scumbags, charging seriously overpriced when I was already in a vulnerable position. Everything is done on the sly. To avoid ramifications Invoice clearly lied about works being done. They’re honestly criminal. Please do not use.

Prices way way over the top – Was charged a booking fee of $140 just to get someone out to quote on a hot water unit replacement this should have raised alarm bells straight away. I was then shocked at the actual quote, they gave me 3 options: Gold Option Price: $ 6709.90,Silver Option Price: $ 7009.90,Bronze Option Price: $ 6109.90. Do not use – I was just quoted $6k for a new gas hot water system, received two others for the exact same system for $2,900. I would hate to think how many people fall for this scam, it to mention how many pay the call out fee, I refused this at the time of calling and thankfully it was waved. Don't pay a cent – I paid 140 odd dollars to get a quote to install a couple taps and a toilet which I already had and new fit the install. They wanted to charge me more than $3000 on a job that should be a couple hours and roughly $500. Such a waste of money, ill never use a Jims service again. Didn't even call me to tell me when they were arriving as they promised as well.

Really expensive and not fixed – $141.90 call out fee to get washing machine connected through hole in cupboard. Price for installation was $739.90, even though our washing machine stopped working once installed. A very expensive non fix and we now have to get a new wash machine and get that installed. If you can, please research other places and save your money.

They charge $1000 per hour. DO NOT CALL THEM! – DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. They charge a non refundable call out fee of $132. They then quote you a ridiculous price so you either have to accept said price, or say goodbye to your $132. plumber was there for a total of 4.5 hours including picking up materials. Total job was $5400, meaning they charged over $1000 per hour. They also illegally charged me a 50% deposit, which I later found out was the true cost of the job after calling several other plumbers. And don’t believe any of the 5 star reviews here. They’re either leaving fake reviews themselves, or offering incentives to people that leave them. STAY FAR AWAY

bother to notify us. The plumber who showed up for the 2nd appointment had absolutely no intention of doing the job. It was obvious he came just because of the non-refundable callout charge. He was telling all the things why I shouldn't do the job and gave an excessively high quote. Anyway, we got the job done by a different plumber for one third of the quoted price and they did an excellent job.

Don't call these guys – Paid $141 non refundable callout fee then they quoted $750 to unblock a sewer drain. I have had this done in the last 7months and it was $360. Made a big mistake calling these guys and not waiting for the usual plumber.

Ridiculous quote, tried to rip off two pensioners - Now refunded – My 81 year old parents had nipped a blue line water pipe running to an outside tap, with a spade. A $140 call out resulted in a $1,200 quote to fix, and when asked for a breakdown of the cost, he refused. $20. I complained to Jim’s head office and did not even get a reply or notification, nice……. I hope people read this review and look elsewhere before booking. Ripping off worried desperate pensioners is not a good business model.

They have subsequently agree to refund the call out fee, so correcting a problem that should never have occurred. I just wonder how many other people, in a panic situation just had the work done. Jim's needs to correct their approach rather than just refunding, when they are caught out. If they wish to advise how they have resolved the situation, I will again update.
