Came to find gas leak. As expected, was in connection to old stove being removed. He was here for a little more than half an hour, clamping the pipe to the old stove. Had quoted $320 on arrival - when it came to pay, doubled it. $320 to test for leak and $320 to clamp the pipe. Never again.

Prompt service but very expensive. $390 to change one washer and one O ring on a leaking laundry tap. The quote and job only took 20 minutes. Tried to upsell first.

Asked for a quote to remove and replace 15 metres of guttering with one each internal and external corner, a very simple job that I would normally tackle myself, but now too old to be on ladders. $4,387.47 (don't you love it when they can price to the cent but be around $2500 off on a realistic price) As a retired engineer I estimate that there is around $2-300 of materials involved and, at most, 8 hours of labour so in effect I'm being charged an hourly rate for what a surgeon would charge while, with respect to roofers, guttering isn't really in the same league. I feel sympathy for anyone, but especially the elderly, who are unaware of real costings and get involved with this unconscionable, unscrupulous company. If you want honest value for money.....this company isn't it.

Edit: I had the job completed for $900, all inclusive, by Flagstaff Gutters and roofing and it took 2 people just 2.5 hours. First class tradesmen and top job. Highly recommend for anyone South of Adelaide.

Hot water repair – Called Jim’s plumbing late on tuesday night as I had no hot water to shower. Liam came out and fixed it quick smart. Thank you for your help.

Burst pipe on lawn – Thanks Chris for coming out on Sunday afternoon and save our whole group of unit for having no water for the rest of the day, that would have been...... unthinkable!

Scammed $1300 to install a kitchen sink tap and I supplied the tap!! I bought a pull out kitchen sink tap and booked these plumbers to come and install it. accepted the quote under the pretence that it was that difficult. Instantly after I signed the plumber left and said he was just leaving for 30 min to check on something and that another plumber would arrive. Another plumber arrived in 15 minutes, did the job and was gone in under 3 hours. I essentially got scammed by this business!

Had a water pipe burst whilst I was away, so my wife handled it. A young woman, on her own, who knows nothing about plumbing. fee for the repair? An additional $1540. That's a total charge of $1672 to replace a half-metre section of copper pipe in the roof space, during normal business hours.

I was furious when I found out how Jim's had taken advantage of the situation. I contacted them to ask for an explanation. They never responded to me.

Incidentally I had another water leak recently, under the driveway, so more labour was involved due to the digging. I was home this time, and I called a local independent plumber. The total charge? $202 including callout fee. 12% of what Jim's charged my wife for a similar job.

For the business, one of the upsides of having a brand name like Jim's is that they get so much brand recognition because of the commonality.

One of the downsides for Jim's is that once they rip a customer off once, it's easy for the customer to avoid those businesses in future. Never again Jim's.

Be very careful dealing with Jim’s Plumbing or Metropolitan – We got Jim’s plumbing to provide a plumber just before Christmas which naturally was expensive, but no excuse for not doing the job. Good question, Jim’s plumbing not accountable, Metropolitan not interested, as for the plumber you don’t see his name on the invoice. Even the invoice “attempt to clear drain” do we pay people to attempt jobs, I thought we would pay to have the job done? Fortunately found a professional from another comp to complete the job. Quote through the roof – Rang for help as I had a burst pipe in the backyard. $141.9 required up front before they would come and this would not come off the final bill. Extortionate! Clearly did not listen as the quote was for a blocked pipe. We rang another plumber however Jim’s has pocketed $149 to just come and look AND we still have a burst pipe 5 hours later. Would NEVER ring Jim’s for anything again.

My husband emailed Jim’s to register his dissatisfaction and they IMMEDIATELY refunded the call out fee of $141.9 to our credit card. Very impressive.

Beware! Do not use – $141 up front booking fee not returned or considered in the costing. Charged over $2,100 to repair a small roof leak . Requested 50% payment before work began. was not issued at the completion of the work. I received this several days later upon my request and following my complaint. This final invoice is required to verify a customer review on the company. Make sure you are sent this. If you have been over charged send your written complaint by both registered mail and on line to both companies. Contact Consumer Affairs and the media if a satisfactory settlement is not made. State in your complaint that this is your intention. I was refunded $1,000 after some negotiation following my complaint which I now regret accepting because I was still well and truly overcharged. I will never use Jim's Plumbing or METROPOLITAN PLUMBING again. Support your local family plumber.

Horrified! Excessive cost – We had a sewer blockage, for which I called Jim's Plumbing to sort. They came on time and were very professional. for. Although the job was actually done by Metropolitan Plumbing who I've learned are the same company. During the final inspection another break in the pipe was found and I was quoted another $7590 by Jim's to repair that. I then did what I should have done in the first place and got another company in to inspect and quote. I was horrified to learn that Jim's/Metropolitan had missed not one, but two additional breaks in the pipe, so I had 2 additional sections of pipe that needed relining. And the alternative quote to do both, $4335! So, in total Jim's cost to reline 2x breaks $15180. Quote from another Pluming company $4335. To say I feel a little ripped off would be an understatement. My bad for trusting Jim's and agreeing to the initial job for $7950, however that does not excuse Jim's Pluming's unconscionable behavior.

Very bad service – I requested an urgent plumber service from Jim’s for a kitchen under sink leaking. A plumber from Upside down company came and quoted me $3000 for the whole work including kitchen mixer supply and replacing along with other work. You don’t get Jims – Called Jim’s plumbing as they claim same rate 24/7. Paid $142 to book the plumber. Plumber arrives but it’s not Jim’s, it’s Metropolitan Plumbing. I had already located where my sewer line was blocked so it was an easy job to put the machine through the sewer pipe & clear the blockage. Job took approx 30 minutes. $882. I wasn’t advised that Metropolitan would be doing the job or I would have looked elsewhere. In my view somewhat dishonest business practice & way too expensive. Won’t use Jim’s again.

already paid, nearly $4000 to replace a hot water service with no break down on cost of the quote, ( How much Labour / Parts ) I think they prey on the emergency situation, it's not the end of the world for me to have a cold shower for a couple of days .

3rd and result, , Local plumber brought a comparable system at a trade price Thermann 21 ltr plus a Press Fit Valve kit ( total $818 ) charged me $182 for 40 mins work, ( presumable to round off at $1000 ) no call out fee

Jim's to the rescue – I'd like to thank Jim's plumbing and there plumber Andrew for his great experience and help with our gas fire. We love our new one and will be using Jim's plumbing again.

Stressed to the max - very disappointing – I called Jim’s Plumbing to investigate a high usage water bill, and committed to pay the $132 call-out fee for same day service. this service that not only was unable to find an actual leak, but lead to us being quoted another $14,000 to disconnect the current pipe, dig up our front garden and lay new pipe even though they weren’t completely sure this was the problem. Yes, you read that right - fourteen thousand dollars for an 8 meter length of pipe for a ‘maybe’ result. We called a different plumber recommended by a friend - he determined we have no leaking pipes, certainly don’t need a new supply pipe, but should look at replacing one toilet cistern - total attendance and diagnostics cost was just $286. If a new pipe had been necessary, the second plumber’s estimate was less than 10% of Jim’s quote at $1,300. Overall the Jim’s experience was very expensive and stressful and I cannot recommend this company

prompt and professional – I had a pest control company burst my mains water. I rang Jims plumbing as was impressed with the customer service from the word go. A Plumber attended my job withing the half hour of me calling. He was a lovely polite and friendly tradesman and would happily refer him and the company on to anyone looking for good service. Hot water – We came home from a small holiday and found a hot water service split we called Jim’s late and Andrew came to fix our heater with no troubble thank you for the help

Quick and efficient – Needed some jobs done. Some one was here very quick. Looked at problems and gave me information and solutions on the spot. No waiting days for prices. Daniel r looked after some of the jobs and was very patient and pleasant to deal with.
