Love this Jura Coffee Machine, fantastic coffee, so easy to use – I have had this coffee machine for just over 2 years, has not missed a beat, its used everyday. Makes beautiful coffee and I am very fussy with coffee. Great when you have people over, can all be done via the Jura app I usually have a black coffee which is piping hot, when making cappuccinos, I usually just heat the cups for added heat, there is an adjustment in the machine to choose what heat settings you want Show details · 1
Do Not Need Coffee From Cafe Anymore – After intensively searching and comparing, finally on Black Friday 22 we bought Jura ENA8, as our first coffee machine. We used to use Bialetti Moka Pot. I should have bought it earlier! Now my husband and I are able to enjoy the real taste of the good quality coffee bean just in one touch, make our morning coffee jump to another level and set our… Read more · 1
mood more ready for the day. Good points: 1. Sleek and good looking machine, easily fit and looks good in my relatively small kitchen bench. 2. Really helpful with a preferences setting that we can save and move the favourite type of coffee to the front page of the screen. 3. The quality of the coffee produced was consistent. I drank black coffee and my hubby drank milky coffee. 4. Easy maintenance, both daily and occasionally. 5. Can use Jura apps from our mobile.
Side notes: 1. the milk froth is not consistent, the first month was good, but lately with the same milk brand it's less foam, despite we clean the milk system with the tiny tablets everyday and fortnightly dismantle the front part, as in the manual. 2. The Coffee temperature would be great if can be set higher. 3. Would be great if Jura have a maintenance items package included, at least for the first year, especially for the water filter.
I highly recommended this machine, even for a couple like my husband and I who drink coffee only once a day, plus our adult children and few friends now and then, it's a really good investment. Plus the promotion coffee beans sent to us were brewed only 2-3 days before, really appreciate!
I don't need and don't feel like having coffee at the cafe anymore now, satisfied with the high quality coffee produced by my Jura ENA8. When I catch up with friends, I just get tea.
Thank you to the previous reviewers, especially to Alan Inner West who wrote a flowing detailed review.
Great, allows fine tuning, bit FIDDLY but needs your attention to get the best from it – edit 2: the 6 year update: its done about 16,000 coffees by now. Still going. make sure you keep using some cleaning tablets or you might not have as long a life... edit 1: 3.5 year update August 2023. (the full review is looong) New Summary/update: I have enjoyed the machine. 8 coffees a day / 3.5 yrs, 2 x services = Reliable. Very good… Read more · 1
CONSISTENT coffee making features and adjustments/personalisation and fine tuning. Support is good when things do go wrong/service is needed. Temperature issue fixed at first service (it got hotter, good.). Needs lots of attention to get the absolute most from it, and to keep it running well, and you will need to clean it OFTEN with tabs as per screen icons (easily done, but that is my job).
Ultimately as a fully automatic, press button convenience, and if you want a fully featured doit all machine then truly, its great, if you're preared to pay this much AND do all the claining (milk use means fulll cleaning cycle. got that time, or do you want to press a button and walk away?). Personally we use a seperate (very good) milk frother - as we can't be bothered / time cleaning milky bits of this machine.
USE: Mostly its 3-4 short espresso shots + a few lungos per day.
ONE thing I would correct (a design issue) is being able to access and clean the brewgroup. why? 1. to lube the seals and joints for longer life, just like we used to with our 3 seaco machines (silicone lube) 2. the wet used coffee grounds build spill, and up "in there" and can cause issues, clogs and basically goop just moulds up and cant be seen/monitored. Jura will say regular cleaning tab cycle helps. partly maybe - but ultimately you NEED to stuff your fingers and a good cleaning cloth UP THERE regularly to get the overflow residual out. VERY glad we dont have any roaches.
LOVE -pre moistened grind before pour (2 stage pour) - does a very good espresso and ristretto on fine grind - good extraction for a fully auto - looks good, small form factor, good capacity water and bean hopper, water easily accessed (Not fiddly at back/and not one of the illy narrow dife drawers) - easy convenient, reliable, quality
quirks. -the coffee grounds bin detector can be fussy -on the very finest grind, might jam up your machine with fine powder, until burrs get a bit blunter - could be even hotter
neg. -cant get in and clean the brew group/clear old coffee goop out - lots of cleaning cycles - goes through filters fast - no setting for "I use double filtered water so none of this matters" - mui expensivo!
....below is my super long boring review. as originally written. typos and all. Meanwhile I don't regret buying this one... but it's only 4 stars as I am EXIGENT and demanding of my devices and l notice stuff others maybe wont . So strap in a fun find out my from the ground-up review and ramblings.
The clogging issue (below) has been largely absent since the major service. And it's hotter coffee now. I do keep doing the clean cycles at alerted intervals. Do it religiously or you will get the dreaded clogs. And it's disgusting otherwise- because the brew group will have moulded up. That's a serious health concern. I am glad we don't have any roaches, or I would have had to throw this out immediately due to the amount of wet coffee poo in the innards - remember you cant pull out and soak the brew group like you could in old Seaco machines. (They tasted and and ran much better when I did that - soak in soap free hot water - Naturally,as you need all those good coffee oils) or maybe food grade silicone lube for caskets and pivot points - despite my circumlocutions, is it indeed a good coffee machine and probably very good finalist in the Land of Fully Automated coffee machines..
A very good coffee machine, makes excellent coffee at home, but has drawbacks to be aware of, especially if you’re a perfectionist (aren't we all when it comes to coffee?).
Note: this is a thorough review after 2.5 years of heavy use, with headings: Context, Summary, Positive and Negative points, and my “Tips”.
Context for this review: This “Jura ENA 8” has been thoroughly for 2.5 yrs, making 8 espresso shots a day (about 7,500 coffees) which apparently is higher than average. Our 3 previous fully automatic coffee machines over the last 20 years have been Saeco (Phillips), which lasted 5 years of heavy domestic use on average. Chose Jura because I liked the extraction / flavourful coffee and ability to adjust many settings. And the expectation of Swiss quality. I have not been incentivized for this review - I bought it at Harvey Normal full price.
My review in summary: *Best machine I've had (so far) but it does need fine tuning & careful attention to get the best from it. That's time consuming. *You really do taste the difference between brands of beans. And fine tuning setting of this machine lets you get the best flavour from your beans. I really enjoy the coffee it makes. Especially on fine grind... *You get regular cleaning prompts on the display (tiny red icons). Frequently, you will need to do a “cleaning cycle”, and occasionally a descale. They’re really important, so buy those Jura cleaning tablets. AND LOOK CLOSELY FOR TINT ALERTS. It won't beep.... * you need to pay attention to settings or it can clog up. (use medium grind, not too fine). Thats a pity as I like to push the settings to the max, but that causes issues... * you cant take apart the brew group yourself, so when it eventually gets to the clogged up stage, needing a deep clean and lube, you will need to get it serviced. Currently $295 fixed price service with Jura (after heavy but careful use). * while the coffee and milk is warm enough, other reviews are correct - it is not NOT piping hot, so if needed, pre warm your cup with a burst of hot water, or pre-warm the cup in the microwave. * oddly, after a descale and clean, it seems to run a bit warmer for a while. * have had to troubleshoot a bit as it clogs if on finest grind setting. So a whole star removed for NOT being bale to use the machine settings available without causing malfunction. a design flaw which comes down to coffee dust and grounds.... at this price I could gte a grinder and a real espresso machine (but life would be slower!)
So to recap, yes it does really great coffee for a fully automatic and has fully range of milk and non milk coffee settings. Precise. Temperature is consistent but could be hotter. Easy to use. Lots of options (grind, quality of coffee, temp, volume). Reliable, but make sure you do the regular cleaning cycles. There is a genuinely helpful and friendly Australian service centre to call when you have issues. And after initially loving it, I actually appreciated this machine even more once I got to know it better and paid attention to all the “product settings”. But it can be finicky to keep clean. YES, IT’S EXPENSIVE at $1600. My main regret is not being able to use it to its true potential, at finest grind setting on maximum coffee dose (on this setting a ristretto tastes amazing, but can cause clogging). But its still pretty good on medium settings. So yes, I would buy again, as it performs very well for a domestic machine. But my main caveat is I would like to be able to pull out and clean the brew unit once it gets old and dirty, and avoid sending it on for a service. Below are more tips, plus and minus points.
Tips for best use: (move to later: explain layout of review) +Pre heat your cups (I cheat by letting the warm up /rinse water go into my espresso cup) +Don't use finest grind all the time. (but when do, it gives wonderfully full extraction from medium roasts) +Buy all the filters and cleaning tablets and descaler up front or online so you don't have to go back +CALL SUPPORT WHEN YOU HAVE AN ISSUE. Its Australian based, they really know the product, and are helpful. (I know, cool right!) +Do be realistic and balanced in your reading of the reviews. Truly there is no way this is a 1 or 2 star machine!
POSITIVES + smaller than our last machine, good on kitchen countertops, yet big enough water reservoir. + precise settings can be tuned for all types of coffee + does an excellent milk froth and macchiato etc (but I can't be bothered cleaning it after each few milk coffees so in practice we NEVER use that feature and have a seperate frother. ) + clean and good looking +Can adjust grind quantity and courseness and temp (to some extent) + frequent cleaning cycles and descale and filter options means if well looked after, it should perform for a long time. + 25 MONTH WARRANTY
NEGATIVES are: -WHEN ITS NEW the GRINDER teeth (burrs) are super sharp so the grinder makes coffee a bit too fine on the max setting, so the whole unit can clog up (Solution” set to 5 OR 6 for the first few months) if you ignore this you will need it serviced. Done free in warranty. - I wish the hottest coffee setting were hotter. But it's more consistent than other machines. - I wish you could slow down the extraction just a touch for slightly stronger coffee... - would like to be able to periodically soak and clean the brew unit. (It can't be taken out for cleaning) - frequent cleaning and attention needed. More than my old Seaco. And expensive Jura products are needed. (water Filter, cleaning tablets, descaler etc). - it uses up water filters quickly. Because Sydney water has a very definite ‘taste’ to it, I use filtered water anyway (Zip filter for the water supply to the whole kitchen). So technically I don't need them, so I leave a Jura filter in, and expired, but it is just filtering already filtered water.) - keep it on a tray, or board, as drips and dirt could stain your countertops over a few years.
Problems in detail: *** after 1500 coffees on max fineness and max dose, it clogged up and fully jammed needing a service. Cause: super sharp burrs of the grinder mean its so fine it clogged up the whole machine (max fineness made a good thick/strong coffee like Italian espresso, pity the mechanics cant handle it all the time) *** after another 5000 or so coffees, mostly at a fineness of 6/10 or 7/10, I started getting issues of brew unit clogging (coffee pucks come out dry - water hasn't come through) and I needed to do extra clean and rinse cycles, and put fingers up into the dirty brew unit to clear out stray coffee grinds, maybe due to worn parts or residual oils clogging up the brew unit too. Trouble shooted a lot, reduced the grind coarseness to 5/10, as suggested by support, but it now just needs a thorough service, as it also gives “error code 8” (brew unit getting stuck). So I have done the best I can for now.
I expect another few years of service from the machine.
*** mid 2023 it really blew up. very loud noise on startup. possibly cracked brew group/jammed motor. I could not run a cleaning cycle, so just sent it in... warranty from previous service covered it (impressed). It sounds all new inside/acts new. working again.
Meanwhile I got a 2nd hand Manual machine I use on weekends when time / convenience is less of an issue and enjoy a fuller extraction then. but spouse doesnt like such a string coffee and loves the convenience of this one... as you can see form length of review, and deatil, this device is central to our home, up there with washer/dryer/fridge/dishwasher in terms of dialy use and impact - (and liek everyone, much more so since covid, so reliability matters) .
In the end, buy quality, *** read the manual*** , look after it and regualrly and correctly clean and maintain it (unlike many), and you will get back what you put in.

Perfect machine (if you can get it on sale) – My Second Jura after owning a Ena Micro 8. Managed to pick it up on sale ($1200) during Black Friday, with bonus milk attachment. Super easy to use and produces wonderful coffee, Milk froth attachment makes a decent cap/latte, however Jura's are more aligned to people who prefer black/espresso, that's where they really shine. the non sale price ($2k) and the relatively small water tank. If you get the bonus Bluetooth J.O.E attachment, its makes it very handy when doing a large amount of coffee's as you can essentially place an order and start brewing!

Love my ENA8 Nordic, I start my morning with it everyday!! – I've waited a few weeks since purchasing my machine to write this as I wanted to make a proper assessment first. This is the first Jura I've owned but friends of mine have an earlier model and I loved theirs and went ahead and bought mine. I prefer beans and the machine is great with the bean grind change mechanism also I've found it to be very… Read more
consistent in its ability to make the perfect coffee each time and I mean again and again. The choices and ease of coffee styles is excellent and the temperature is great. The only downside for me is mine is a 6 coffee a day machine so I wish the coffee grounds container and drip tray were larger lol.
Great Machine – This is my second Jura machine, replacing the first after 9 years and thousands of coffee's. Why buy another brand. ENA8 is simple, has a good selection and looks good. Show details

A Very Happy Coffee Snob – I had a Jura E5 for many years and I was really happy with that and with Covid and Lockdowns, I decided to update the Coffee Machine. As I had plenty of spare time I looked around and reviewed plenty. Despite some of the over-the-top negative reviews on the ENA 8, I went with it and I am really happy. I prefer beans rather than grounds, I like to drink my coffee straight away so I don't want it so piping hot that I have to wait 20 mins to drink it. My Coffee preferred strength is Strong. Like my E5 everything was easy to set up to my liking, I think that is the key. I watch many videos on how to do things. I make all types of coffee and the menu is great. Using the Milk system is easy as is cleaning the system. The household has approximately 4 coffees per day so at $5 a coffee, the ENA 8 will pay for itself really quickly. My daughter in law is a barista and she says I am a massive coffee snob and I made her a Macchiato which is her Favourite she was blown away by how good it was. My milk preference is Milklab and if I don't have that I use light milk as it froths better. In saying that it's all about preferences, these are mine and I am very happy. I am happy to answer any questions.
Constant Block: coffee grinder connection to coffee maker – Bought JURA ENA 8 in 2020 from repair center, Victoria. We exchanged our old Jura machine. We dutifully cleaned and descaled it. Good automated coffee machine – Having had an older Jura coffee machine in my former home I thought I would splurge with purchasing a new one for the anticipated new house. Jura Ena 8 - Great coffee machine – Very happy with all aspects of this machine. I took time to decide between this model and the E8. personal preferences. The only drawback I’ve found is like my coffee very strong and need to use the Doppio setting. If I’d purchased the E8, the espresso would have been sufficient for a flat white. I love the simplicity once set-up to my families preferences. I used to be a Barista so had big expectations from any machine I used ... the Jura has fulfilled those expectations for a fully automatic machine.
Great coffee from a good machine – Purchased an ENA 8 three weeks ago after watching numerous videos. and adjusting ratio of milk to coffee I am now fully satisfied with the result. The secret to producing a hot milk based coffee to Australian standards ( I think the Europeans prefer a lower temperature ) is to pre-heat the cups/glasses. This makes a significant difference to the final temperature of the coffee. Overall I would recommend this machine which is built to a very high standard.

Barely heats the milk - do not recommend for milk coffee drinkers – Machine makes great black coffees but barely heats the milk (comes out slightly warmer than when it came out of the fridge). I had changed the settings to the highest temperature and it still was cold. One option would be to add 90% coffee and 10% milk which I’m sure would make the temperature bearable but who wants that... I think preheating the… Read more

Love my Jura Ena 8 – I am very satisfied with my Jura coffee machine. From its design it is sleek and fits nicely in my kitchen. Once I worked out quantity regarding coffee mls i have enjoyed the coffee produced. Unlike the other reviewers my coffee comes out hot. Even my milk based flat white is hot. Very easy to use. totally disappointed, especially from David Jones they do not want to refund the amount. Never again I will ever shop at David Jones and Jura products.
Great if you like tepid coffee – From the first cup, no matter the style of coffee made, on the highest heat setting, you end up with a tepid coffee at best. There is no setting to allow to increase the milk temperature, and the support suggestion of preheating your cup in response to an earlier consumer question regarding the same issue, is ineffective in producing a drinkable… Read more
cup of coffee and somewhat less than helpful. Unless there is a secret setting in the menu that can increase the milk temperature, we will be returning this machine.
Milk temperature issues – Not really satisfied at all and considering a refund. The milk temp is WAY to cold - a flat white is barely luke warm. Unless by some miracle Jura can suggest something that is not in the available settings then I think this is going back as its not fit for purpose.
