Probably time for a new one, there are better ones now, or check Gumtree for one of these, which usually sell for $0-$10

It depends on what you mean by clean, it will get off surface stuff, but not ingrained discoloration.

I don't think it's possible with this model, but as I said I got it 2nd hand and there night be a carpet cleaning attachment I don't know about. Probably best to get a real carpet shampooer.

same thing has just happened to me

I seem to think there originally was some sort of valve that allowed water to seep through. Having one removed the bottom plate there was like a powder substance ther suggesting the original valve had decomposed.

I use solely on tiles but would be careful using on floating floor.....ok to wipe over but need to ensure cloth mop covers base exact to prevent scratching also would ensure always moving and never left in contact with floor to prevent over heating....both logical cautions. Don't overfill with water as will cause over wetness and take time to dry therefore cause streaking

Don't bother looking the thing is an absolute waste of time, doesn't heat up properly leaves water all over the floors.

Sorry, but I wouldn't have a clue where to buy one in Brisbane - I purchased mine from a Betta Electrical store in the NT.

I don't this so. As far as I know, it's only for hard surfaces - timber, tiles etc.

I have actually used mine on some carpet spots & it worked brilliantly. It's not replacing the carpet steam cleaner but it's good for a very small area. Once I had steamed over the problem area, I then used old towels to take the moisture out & the dirt came out with it. Love my Kenwood.

It used to be sold with the optional extra clip on Surround guard attachment to glide across the top of the carpet pile steaming as you went... i recall being able to use it on Timber Parcketry flooring ...

I'm actually looking to buy that very attachment.

If anyone can't tell me where I can get one, I'd be grateful....
