Unreliable Replacement Process for Expensive KitchenAid Mixer-5KSM150PSAER I bought a KitchenAid stand mixer in January 2025. The coating on the accessory peeled off, making it unsafe to use. KitchenAid informed me that the replacement would take a month and a half, until the end of April, but they haven't confirmed an exact date. Without these… Read more

accessories, I can't use the mixer, which cost $650. This delay is unacceptable and unprofessional. Can I trust KitchenAid to deliver on their promise? I urge them to expedite the replacement and improve their warranty service to be more responsive to customer needs.

Used it 10 times and started leaking oil - no free repair offered – I used this machine 10x times maybe and oil started to leak from the top of the machine right into the mixer bowl. I assume the motor oil is not very healthy... I reached out for repair, KitchenAid wants to charge about $200 to repair it. I suggest going with another brand that won't let oil leak into your brownie dough... Show details

Wonderful mixer! A must for any avid baker – I'm so glad I bought this sturdy quality mixer! I bought the beautiful pistachio colour which matches my kitchen and is so aesthetically pleasing! It comes with a dough hook which I'm so excited to use to start making bread in the Christmas holidays! I highly recommend this mixer for anyone who is serious about their cooking! Show details

Solid Quality – We’d been looking at these mixers for years wondering if we should spend the money to get a quality Mixer - then we pulled the trigger and have never regretted it - we’ve made cakes, biscuits, Sourdough Bread and its all been a breeze - the Mixer has a good range of speeds and the motor feels strong - the stainless steel bowels are strong and easy… Read more

to clean - they also lock into the base making them very steady and also have a splash guard - the utensils are also built strong with the Dough Hook being an excellent tool for making Bread without the need to stretch and fold the dough by hand - overall we are completely satisfied with this product :)

Best kitchen addition! – My husband bought the kitchenaid mixer for my birthday last year November. And I absolutely love it. The quality is amazing, it’s solid and works quietly. I have made cakes, pasta, bread and so much more with it. It is a great assistance in the kitchen with so many options. Making bread and pasta has never been so easy, I put all the ingredients… Read more

in and the kitchenaid basically does the rest for you. It’s easy to use, easy to clean and has useful attachments. I would 100% recommend to this especially those who enjoy baking.

The perfect kitchen addition to ANY home – Since buying the Kitchen Aid mixer, baking has become a FUN task rather than just another dish to be served. It’s super easy to use, has multiple speed settings for either whipping, creaming, stirring, mixing. You can buy different bowl sizes for example i use my bigger ones for cake mixtures bc they are PLENTY of room and the smaller ones I use… Read more

for whipping cream into whipped cream. As well as bowls you can buy different heads too, I have a whisk and a spatula and I must say I will never hand stir something again! For people who aren’t too good with appliances/technology this really is a holy grail product. I can make virtually any batter in it. Well worth the money and most certainly is something I recommend friends and family have in there home! It gets used more than my bowls these days!

Fuse Gear Failure – Also have the same issue as alot of people have had. I've used it max of 20 times and while mixing dough on medium speed as per the recipe the fuse gear has failed and the attachments wont rotate and it makes a horrific whirring noise. The worst bit is instead of a replacement, Kitchenaid have decided they will fix it which means it has to be sent… Read more

away leaving me without a mixer for probably a month or more. They have sent the below guidelines but these things used to get thrashed at all the cafe's I have worked at years ago hence I brought one. Not impressed for the cost of this.

Please refer to the following guidelines to ensure the longevity of your KitchenAid Stand Mixer: -Do not exceed speed 2 when mixing heavy ingredients such as dough or fruit cakes -Do not exceed a total weight of ingredient which is 1.15kg - including any water etc -5-6 minutes run-time for heavy mixtures (allow a 20 min rest period) -When mixing normal ingredients 8 minutes is the processing time (again 20 min rest period) -Always tighten the thumb screw (black screw near the attachment hub) after use & during use if required (this will stop the badge falling out)

Mutton dressed as Lamb – This mixer replaced a Kenwood. It worked for 10 years, cost half the price and had a bigger bowl. I used the Kitchenaid only a handful of times and the gears broke during dough mixing on setting 4. Returned to store for a new one, but Kitchenaid wanted to fix it. Clearly a dud as it broke so quickly. Just got it back after nearly 2 months of… Read more

shenanigans and it broke again first use on setting 4. The great thing is I got it on video because it was making a terrible sound on setting 1. The repairer told me this happens a lot. There is a sacrificial plastic gear that breaks to prevent damage to the motor. He said you should mix you dough a little at a time and let the mixer cool after them minutes of use to stop it breaking. Funny they don't put that in the instruction manual. Anyway, it only lasted 5 minutes this time. Interestingly, the repairer had about 10 kitchenmaid stand mixers behind the counter all waiting for repair. Sounds like a QA or engineering problem. I've asked for a replacement or a refund, but that doesn't take into account all the time I've wasted trying to fix this problem and driving all over the city to pick-up and drop-off this precious little mixer.

Good product, unless you need warranty service – I spent over $1000 on this product and extras thinking it would last 20 years. I was comfortable in the brand and warranty. Mistake. It broke and I can’t remove the dough hook to use other attachments. Looking online this is common. I have been dealing with the warranty department for 3 months. They have terrible processes and follow through. I… Read more

keep having to contact them and they always say they are waiting on me. For three months I have been trying to have this fixed with no luck. Staff are also not helpful bordering on rude. I live on the Gold Coast, can’t bring it to Brisbane for service, it has to go to Lismore for service (lockdowns). I really wish I had just bought a cheap stand mixer and replaced it when it broke. Horrible ongoing experience. Not a fan at all but have spent so much I feel I can’t do much else but wait now. Perhaps choose another brand. UPDATE: I finally got a more competent and experienced kitchenaid representative. They threw in a freebie and managed to expedite my repair. I felt I was happy and over my negativity with the brand. However, I just received my repaired kitchenaid machine and there was no dough hook. I sent it in for repair because the dough hook was stuck and couldn't be removed. So now I have what I think is a repaired machine but I can't make bread because there is no dough hook. I rang but there office hours are 10-3pm. So, 4 months along I finally have the machine back and (I assume working) but I still can't make bread... UPDATE: Six weeks later.... dough hook stuck again.

Time to move on – I wasted $1800 on these mixers .... the first one had a screw come out of the stand in the middle of the mixing ,,, I stupidly bought another one only to have the same problen with the second one ,,, I still use the second mixer while beating the same defective screw back into the stand with a meat mallet .... i cannot leave it to mix on its own ,,,, Getting tired of this and am looking for a new mixer ... it certainly won't be a Kitchen Aid

Poor built quality with worse service – I wanted a reliable and quality mixer and bought this machine about 9 months ago for simple domestic use. To my surprise the machine had major screws drop off during operation. I contacted Kitchen aid and they send me the list of their repair centers which are at least 30 km away from where I’m based ignoring our lockdown situation. One may pay a premium price for poor built quality with a worse level of service.  Show details

Reliably good, Regularly used Stand Mixer – I have used this mixer for well over 10 years. It has performed exceptionally well when used for cake batters, biscuits doughs, pastries, butter creams and icings and has a strong motor for this purpose. However when using the dough hook attachment I find that the machine struggles to impress if the dough is "stiff". Pizza dough works really well… Read more

and should not be underestimated, but some other bread doughs tend to be less impressive and require manual assistance as the mixer does struggle to bind the ingredients well and does tend to move around the benchtop. I do also frequently use the "pasta" attachment to great effect making great pasta sheets, thin spaghetti and fettucine which is fantastic. I have also used the ice cream maker. Whilst it does provide good results I find it a bit labour intensive. Overall the Kitchen Aid Stand mixer is a very good and reliable product for your kitchen that will please you many more times than disappoint. A larger mixing bowl would enhance this product significantly, but do not let that deter you from purchasing one. Your experience will be an enjoyable one if you do.

Fabulous follow up customer service – I have had my Kitchen Aid for nearly a year and I have been soooo impressed with the follow up service. I have experienced problems with two of the attachments, chipping of coating etc, and have had immediate feedback and both attachments have been replaced. I couldn’t be happier with the speedy response I have had from kitchen Aid. I also absolutely love the appliance and wish I’d bought myself one much earlier. Claire Hogan  Show details

I use it everyday – I use this stand mixer every single day ! I cannot live without it. I use it for making dough, baking, making fresh butter, whipped cream and so on ! The only regret that I have is that to use the whisk attachment, I need to change the height of stand mixer using a screwdriver every single time. That is really painful. I tried contacting someone about it long back but got no response whatsoever . Apart from this, it is a fantastic product. Show details

Not happy..still waiting for response – Recently bought KSM150 from Kogan 04/Aug/2020 however the paint is chipped with a deep hole in its body after 3rd uses and it always been cleaned with dry cloth gently. However the customer service advised we should only use at speed 2 only. Didn't questions further. However the machine has 10 speed, why this customer service asking to just use at speed 2 only? Customer service asked to take video and have emailed to her and still waiting for her response. We believe this is faulty as you can see the paint has been patched if you carefully look at the chipped area.

Underpowered and in constant need of adjustment – I received the Artisan KSM150 as a Christmas present to replace my 30 year old Kenwood Chef as it's plastic casing had turned yellow with age. Within two washes in the dishwasher one of the points where the handle is attached to the bowl had rusted. The customer service people were fantastic and replaced the bowl immediately. The instruction… Read more

booklet indicated that I could only make 2/3 the quantity of bread dough that I used to mix with my old mixer so I kept that in the back of my mind. I was in the habit of making the Women's Weekly gluten free carrot cake so went ahead and made it in the Artisan. Half way through mixing the ingredients the motor was labouring so much that I thought it was going to break. I turned it off and finished mixing by hand. I no longer make that recipe. The other thing that happened while trying to mix the carrot cake was that the screw that holds the bar on which the mixer pivots (to lift) came loose. I'm guessing that this was because the machine was moving around so much trying to mix the ingredients. This meant that the bar also came loose and slid out of position. I noticed that it had almost completely disappeared from one side of the machine and was sticking out an equivalent amount on the other side. Fortunately I noticed before it fell out completely. Customer Service tell me that tightening this screw is normal maintenance. So that's what I do every time I make a pastry, or a fruit cake, or any heavier mix because it always comes loose and the bar starts to shift. Even when my husband tightens it for me.

The other adjustment that is needed on a very regular basis is the beater to bowl height. I have to check and adjust the beater height every 2 - 3 uses. I usually make more than one cake at a time so I guess the adjustment is every 4 to 5 cakes. I mainly make chocolate, coconut or spice cakes so the mixture is not heavy. While not particularly difficult, it is a nuisance and feel that it should not be necessary.

I really like the stainless steel bowl and that it can be washed in the dishwasher. But I am very disappointed in this mixer.

Overpriced and overrated – My mother bought my wife one of these for her 30th birthday. First motor blew after about 3 months so we took it back to Myer who replaced it no questions asked. The second one is still going but the motor struggles on any dough you try putting through. The dough hook is poorly designed and you end up with more dough around the attachment head… Read more

than you do actually mixing in the bowl so its easier to take it out and do it by hand. The beater and scraper attachment don't scrape all the way to the bottom of the bowl either so it never actually mixes anything properly. Pretty unimpressed with it to be honest, the Kenwood we had which it replaced was miles better, should have just kept it

I cant fault it – After alot of waiting around for the perfect price i finally bite the bullet and gave my arms a well needed rest. The Kitchen aid performance is faultless and i have never had any drama or difficulties using different ingredients. The only downfall is the price of attachments are insanely expensive and sometimes food in the bowl will rise above the beaters. The bowl is a nice decent size and seems very well made. Show details

Best appliance ever – I've used these mixers in a commercial environment for many years and they never skip a beat. Will last a lifetime. Fantastic addition to the kitchen! – Saves me so much time for whipping up meringue, and cake batter etc. I gave it 4 stars because I find the mixer attachment by itself cannot "clean" the bowl well, so maybe will need to buy the Flex Edge Beater. I don't really use it for dough making because I find it is quite easy to over knead the doughs.  Show details
