Kobalt 80V 53cm Steel Questions & Answers
My mower won't start, but after a few hours will start again. Battery is fully charged. It has happened a few times.
Just Bought A new Kolbolt I charged The Battery Went By# steps Still Will Not Start, any help?
Did you get 3 green lights to show the battery is fully charged, if so make sure the battery is put fully into the mower shaft and clicks in place, finally at the top of the handle push the button in and at the same time lift the bar up near the button, im assuming this is all Australian ?
hi i bought a mower 12 months ago and one of battery is not charging is there anywhere that i can get repaired
I bought a new one from the US and bought a power converter to suit Australian voltage.
Hi Brad. Can you tell me where you purchased the charger from?
Hi EAH Wife went to the USA and bought a charger from Lowes over there and then I got a power adaptor for Australian power.
I purchased 3 Kobalt 80v tools-lawn mower blower and whipper snipper with 4 batteries -2 work fine and 2 will not charge. No one is able to advise me where tto service them.
I can’t answer that question about how to service batteries but please be very careful with those type of batteries! If they are dropped it can cause a slow chain reaction that deteriorates the battery cells and can ignite. My lawnmower and batteries burnt my shed down, losing everything in it and kobalt kindly got back to me saying their insurance company would be in touch. Year and a half has past and im still waiting. Was nice of them to contact me but wish they didn’t lie to me and waste my time! Do yourself a favor and get shot of it before something happens. Glad it wasn’t stored in my garage attached to my two storey house. My family was asleep when they were woken up to the blaze out the back garden. Could of been a different story for my sleeping family!
Kobalt 80v lawn mower is a discontinued product. Lithium ion batteries die when left unused for long times and there are some crude ways in You tube of how to get them working again. Failing this, your only option would be return to woolies group. Hoping it is under warranty... you can read through the other answers here where i have shared the mail id for contacting woolies.
If you live in Sydney, there's a battery place in Chipping Norton that will repack them with new cells. It's not exactly cheap, but my old 2ah 80v max battery is now a 2.5ah 80v max battery and works perfectly.
I have an 80v kobalt mower and battery got lost in moving. Does anybody know where i can buy one. All the batteries i have found wont ship to Australia
Hi Ann, Please read through the other Q&A on this product. I was faced with a similar situation and luckily because it was within 3 years of my purchase, i was refunded the whole amount of the Mower although the battery was the problem. It is just that Kobalt dont have a supplier and the batteries are specific to this product, hence am afraid your only option is to reach out to WOOLIES if you have purchase this from Masters. You can get the email id from one of my previous answers. Hope this helps.
I brought kobalt lawnmower and i had to buy new charger and battery and it still wont charge can you help
Lithium batteries run the risk of becoming dead due to long periods of unuse.. There are some crude examples of getting it working on Youtube. Everything failing, you are better of returning this product if it is under warranty. I don't think there is any supplier in Australia (After Masters shut shop) of this product from a proper shop, hence you don't have many options.
Where can I get my kobalt serviced Newcastle area thanks
Hi Joanne, As per what i understand. Kobalt is US based and since MASTERS closed (Woolies group), there is no option to get it serviced anywhere in Australia as they no longer have any Suppliers within Australia. I suppose the only recourse is to contact Masters warranty and check with them, if there is any problem with any part ? if it is still within warranty, they might be able to assist with a solution (mostly refund).
I have misplaced the button that you use to start the mower. Does anyone know of a way around this, as I can't find a replacement online anywhere? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated?
I might be able to help I Will GET a quote first FROM a 3D printer place to SEE how much TO copy MINE for you .PS would you have a spear battery charger THAT you might sell ? Also try looking AT the victa battery mower the key looks the same bunnings sell the mowers AS well
I noticed on your page the statement made "kobalt 80 v mower has been discontinued by kobalt"
When? This may be the reason my order is not coming in. Pls reply. Thank you.
I don't think they've been discontinued by Kobalt but I believe Masters were the only Australian distributor and they've obviously closed down. Kobalt stuff is still sold in America but I'm not sure if anyone in Australia has picked up the distribution.
I believe Rickster is right, still available in in N.A., not it seems in Ausralia. The alternative at the time was the Ego mower, which I believe is still in Australia and also well regarded. egopowerplus.com.au My Kobalt still going strong, the best mower I've used in the 30 years on this property. Swapping batteries is a lot more fun than refueling petrol and the machine is still a pleasure to use.
One minor issue is the open waffle plastic under the chassis collects wet grass which can make the mower heavy.
Mower stops and does not restart for awhile. Battery still has bars. There is a beeping sound when the bar is down. What is happening???
It sounds like your battery may be flat even though it's still showing bars. Does this happen with both batteries? Also just make sure the battery connection is clean as it may be a connection issue.
You still have your warranty through Woolworths so that may be the next option.
It's possible the electric motor is over heating. If it's still in warranty, definitely take it for repair
We have a the 80v great mower, but would like a blade for a spare con we get one somewhere, we brought ours at Masters at Bathurst but they don't keep spare parts. Any help?
Yes, go to your local mower store and order the Victor blade. The part number is on my review. Last time I checked it was about $30.
Just bought the mower, charged both batteries, but will not star at all !!!!!!
Any hints ??
Im not a repairer. So id suggest you return it and get a new mower since you've just bought it?
1. ensure the battery is fully charged by pressing the button on the battery and checking all three indicator lights light up 2. ensure the battery is all the way in its receptacle, It requires a firm push and should "click" in.
3. ensure you push the button in the handle (and hold it in) before lifting the bar
Do everything that AP suggested but also remember to start the mower on a flat, preferably non grassed surface. I've sometimes found you can't easily start it on grass - just start it on the concrete driveway, let it get up to speed and then start mowing

Just thought would let you all know that i was faced with a similar problem of the battery not working. Realised that Lithium ion batteries die if not used for a while. I had asked 'AP' who has responded on this note about some basic trouble shooting, but once that didn't work i enquired around and this is the process i have gone through. I called up WOOLIES to check on warranties on MASTERS product. The Woolies phone staff provided me with this email ID to which you should have to drop the INVOICE of the item you had bought "masterswarranty@woolworths.com.au".. You will get a mail from them with instructions about how to return the product (postage being paid by Masters/Woolies). They would also ask for your Home address and Bank account details to provide a refund if the product which you return is found faulty. Your main responsibility would be to pack the products and drop it off at your nearest Australia Post outlet.
Just thought would also let you know that i had called the KOBALT US help line unsuccessfully as they only service North America and Canada. I was ping ponged between Kobalt and LOWE's (one of Kobalts main supplier in US). Unfortunately they dont have any supplier in Australia and hence there is no point in reaching out to them if any of you were planning to do so. As stated above, pls write to the email with your Masters invoice (Hopefully you still have it).
