Terrible customer service and a terrible useless product – Had this fridge for under 2years I thought Samsung was bad but , this is the worst fridge I have ever owned. LG service is absolutely terrible the fridge had an LC error code . so we called then gave them the details they sent a service tech out , when he came he said it was the fan as it was making a noise and the freezer stopped working but the… Read more

fridge was fine . The tech came with no parts even though we had given them the error code ( who does that ? Just glad I didn’t have to pay for that service call .) He then told me that he needed to order the parts for repairs and that he would be back as soon as they arrived. No I explained that we needed the fridge repaired asap because we need to store medication in it . He told me that I would hear from him within 5 days , no nothing so I rang LG and they told me the part had arrived but I would have to wait another 4 weeks until They could send someone out . I told them that , that was not exceptable and that I needed it done straight away . Also by this time the entire fridge had died . They were rude and said well that’s all we can do so I escalated it asking to talk to a senior manager these people just don’t care they knew it was urgent and just passed me off . So I have brought consumer affairs in and have told them about that please note it should never have had to come to that . I got a call today saying that they will now replace the fridge because it’s un repairable but I still need to wait another 48 hours for them to send a email through to the good guys ,( oh and by the way this fridge was recommended by Choice that’s why I brought it .so they are obviously being paid for their ratings. ) I told them 48 hours was too long to wait and they said they would put a rush on it meaning before mid day . Well it’s now after mid day and I still haven’t heard from them. And that’s not even with compensation for the food I hade to throw away. Nearly $1,000 worth So do I recommend L.G Or their service provider Woolly NO I DO NOT .

Never buying LG again – Won't touch LG again. Terrible customer service. Purchased this fridge as it fitted into the cut out and had the biggest freezer space. Just on 2 years error occurred, turned it on and off kept on occurring. Installed the app and sent through the diagnostic (it went directly to a call this number). After ages on hold finally spoke to someone then… Read more

was wrong section and disconnected and called again. Was sent a link to upload details and fault and expected to hear back straight away, well that didn't happen, next day I received a message and called them. They said it's out of warranty, and I mentioned reasonable warranty it's it supposed to stop working shortly after the warranty, so they agreed to send someone out.. well that was almost 2 weeks ago and finally someone is coming tomorrow. I've had to throw everything from the freezer and a lot from the fridge as it reached 15c inside. Terrible product, appalling customer service. To spend so much money on a fridge that I was hoping to get at least 10 years out of is a waste and should be compensated. I'm going to take this further, as I've had other LG products and all failed within or just out of the warranty period, am seeking advice from Choice and ACCC

Love this Fridge – After my Westinghouse died after 3.5 years the LG ThinQ was a welcome relief. Holds everything even all the condiments fit with ease. Would never go for the cheaper brands. They all have cheap components that aren't covered in the warranty. The salesman said Fisher & Pykele have the least returns/problems and stay away from Westinghouse/Electrolux/Hisens. Show details

The French doors have it! – GF-B590PL (We had this item for only a week). It seems quite good but for such a short time we can't say too much about its performance. Just the same I like to say we liked its design. We never had 'French doors' fridge before but it seems quite nice and practical. It's quite roomy, I read that some people feel you can't put large items in it.… Read more

I'm surprised of this as it seems easy to create large temporary room for such items. I also read about the unit being a little noisy but I agree with those who find it quiet, actually we find it very quiet. This item has an ice cube maker that strangely enough, it is a free standing unit loosely resting on 'any' freezer shelve you chose, but they have a high lip, forcing you to lift the whole unit to pull its 'bottom' draw of ice cubes out of it. It's delivery was a little of a challenge as its width (Apparently designed for narrow space!) is 8350 mm wide and you should check your accesses before having it delivered as if you need to go through sliding doors that stick out a little, it may be a problem! It has a touch pad "Smart" it is supposed to be, but I'm battling to get the WIFI working with the ThinQ app. that is not very successful at the present...Anyway this so call feature is apparently only able to cycle through the fridge and freezer temperature settings! This is a few + steps on the fridge, and some - (minus) on the freezer! So far no one as been able to tell me it can do more than this. How far would most people be from their fridge to need to adjust it remotely, we're not talking about a TV! ( I was advised to give this feedback to the 'technical' team, but still waiting for an answer!) However this adjustment can be done easily with that touch pad, but even there it will not tell you what temperature are these 2 compartments, only what it's set for, and the default seems to be +3 and -18. That touch pad has a few more features and warnings that may be useful. LG may or may not be easy to contact....I managed to get them on the phone, their 'live Chat' and also WhatsApp) after many tries, as often there was not reply or activity...Then you find on your phone or pc that they did not get a response from you so you were disconnected! However if you keep on it someone may actually connect again! But that someone is most likely a person that won´t be able to help you and you're on for another round...! Call back may be any length of time so you hope for the best....I guess many businesses operate the same though. When I got someone it was reasonable although they still have not managed to work out why my Wi Fi connection is not working. Or they call back never reach me but once but again to be promised another call.... (This review was first submitted to LG but despite a few contact and promises they'd ring or put me on a 'specialised' team I got nowhere with my query, I gave up on them as, like I hinted earlier on, it is rather a waste of time to use the Wi Fi feature anyway.) Now it's a little longer we have it and I can add that We miss some good old fashion door handles as if you have loaded those doors you really need to hold them back if you want to avoid 'banging' them back on the unit. But today's fashion is 'handle less' doors! Over all we are very pleased with it. Bought from the Good Guys in Castle Hill. NSW whom we are very pleased with too and whom we took their "Gold Service Extras" and hope we'll benefit from it!

Love the large freezer section – Update 2024. Absolutely love this fridge . The freezer design and size works brilliantly for us. Also the charcoal filter reduces fridge odour and there is an alert to remind you to replace the filter. We bought this 11 months ago (July 2020) when LG were doing cash back offers. Paid $2076 and got $150 cash back directly from LG. The freezer… Read more ·  1

section is large cf with other large fridges of similar volume. Exactly what we needed. The functionality of the doors is great, no plastic hinges either! Easy visibility in the fridge. Food stays fresh and cool. No frozen eggs, off milk, or wilted spinach! Pros: GREAT freezer, holds temperature really well. French doors make it a dream to access. Great visibility inside. Easy to adjust the temperature. Cons: White version is NOT available is Australia. Can be a little noisy at times. No separate dairy section. Limited adjustability of shelves, although this is not an issue for us. Care required to not slam door shut (takes a week to get used to that).

Very impressed – We purchased this fridge due to the ease it provides whilst accessing. The four separate doors allows for individual compartments to be accessed without having the entire fridge being opened, It also has individual draws inside the freezer section that allows for easy access. Being elderly we also like the fact that we don`t have to juggle items… Read more

within the freezer to find what your searching for. The build quality appears to be very good, it has the new inverter style electrics that is cheaper to run. This model does not have the internal water or ice supply which is also why we chose it. We didn`t require these functions.

Great slim design – Pros - fits into our 91cm width - wide shelving - not noisy Cons - fruit/veg drawers too small. Can't fit long veggies like leeks, celery, kale. - not all fridge shelves are adjustable in height. - left fridge door is very loud when closing due to self closing hinge. Bottles in the shelves rattle a lot. Show details ·  1

Fridge-Freezer, “LG GF-B590PL” – Quiet beautifully designed fridge. Both externally and internally. The illumination inside is very good. Operation is quiet. Plastic drawers etc well placed and dimensioned. As the fridge width is smaller at 835mm than the current standard Australian maximum kitchen space width of 910 mm, it fits in nicely giving the appearance of being… Read more

purpose-made. The front door panel lights up (complete with a WiFi indicator light) when the door is open adding to the impression of a very modern space-age appliance. LG have a very high rating for reliability.

The two french doors, which are easy to open, enables impressive internal horizontal storage, as for example for large dishes.

Now for some trivial criticisms. The smart phone application with the intriguing name of "SmartThingQ" was quite difficult to install successfully . Finally (after many attempts) when installed it proved to only have very basic functionality, except perhaps for a self-diagnosis function which may prove useful in the future. (The fridge is said to have a sound-signal that can be recorded by a smartphone and when played back enables remote diagnosis by a technician.) Similarly, the front panel is disappointing in that it gives only basic information. Not sure why the panel gives the temperatures at which the fridge and freezer are supposed to attain, rather than the actual temperatures? (It is like having a car fuel gauge which gives the maximum capacity of the tank rather than the actual fuel content.)

The above trivial information should in no way detract from the overall functionality of the fridge-freezer. At this short experience with the fridge-freezer it is impressive and is recommended.

Deceptively large storage in a relatively slimline fridge/freezer – After much online research and originally planning on getting a bottom mount fridge, the storage and access of this fridge won me over. I don't understand why there aren't more fridges with French doors for the fridge and freezer sections like this one. Pros - so much storage compared to other fridges this size (250L storage for the freezer was… Read more

double some of it's bottom hung peers); easy access of the fridge and freezer with the French doors, great for smaller spaces as you're not opening not one huge door into your kitchen; pull out freezer shelves mean you don't need to dive into a large freezer drawer to find something; double bottle storage in the doors; magnetic doors; quiet.

Cons - door shelves aren't adjustable (one shelf in the fridge is adjustable); still not sure how to connect to the LG Smart ThinQ App via the WiFi and its benefits.
