Over the 7 years since purchase, icemaker failed and apparently the only fix is to replace the door all other possibilities having been ruled out; the adjustable shelf fell apart and recently the compressor has failed. No issues with the overall design and usability but product failures like this should not occur with a fridge that is not really that old. Show details
Definitely do not recommend this fridge or LG in regards to fulfilling their customer service. Fridge is 5.5 years old and so far ice maker after 3 years stopped working needed a whole new door at a cost of over $1000 plus service costs. It's also had a freezing issue and 2 attempts to fix it and still freezes.... and now both the Freezer and… Read more
Fridge stopped working and needs a compressor. The compressor is under warranty however the additional parts always needed when replacing a compressor aren't covered by LG and neither is the initial service call or the call to instal parts. To top it off there are only 2 service technicians in Newcastle and one of them whom I recommend can't come to install for 3 weeks and cost was $525. The other could come, but with the service call to diagnose as well as parts is charging $980 ($285 for service and $685 for parts)... ! Incredibly disappointing that I have just had a phone call from LG advising they had put a case forward for review to cover the install of parts and they won't come to the party ... So I'm down another $980 on this fridge... Looks great, functions poorly and why make something that doesn't last! If I could give it a zero star I would have. LG you need to review your products and service. We don't want to be spending thousands and buying rubbish!
Purchased an LG GF- D708BSL model French door in door fridge in July 2019. It worked well until the icemaker stopped working in September 2024. We had to have the whole left-hand door replaced due to the internal wiring that controls the icemaker, breaking. Luckily, we had purchased extra insurance cover through Harvey Norman and insurance paid… Read more
over $1000 to have the door replaced.
Just before Christmas 2025, it defrosted and now the "10-year warranty" compressor has given up the ghost. I paid the LG affiliated service company come out and tell me the compressor is shot. LG informed me that they would cover the compressor, but I will be up for the fitment etc. I am not sure what that is going to cost me, but it has to be better than a new replacement fridge at roughly $4k.
Just letting people know that evidently the door wiring problem and compressor failure is a known weak point with this model fridge. I would strongly advise anybody purchasing one of these to take out the extra insurance or perhaps read up on the LG fridge reviews.
After 6 years water and ice have stopped working. It will now cost $1500 to fix. Absolute joke. Fridge cost $3500. Thought i would get at least 10 years out of it. Never buying anything lg again Show details
Faulty compressor and fridge is not cooling at all after 5+years – Fridge stopped cooling right after Harvey Norman product care finished. Called LG and directed me to their authorised repair agents. They are not in sync and customer has to go back and forth. Very stressful. Calling LG everyday to get a resolution for failed compressor more than 2 weeks now. Show details
After sales service, they just don't care – For a refrigerator costing over $3,300 I expect the water dispenser to pour straight, and not on an angle. In September 2021 I reported the problem to LG customer service, and included a video. I was later advised that the pouring angle "was normal", hence no further action. I was not happy with their response so I emailed LG again, this time… Read more
I received a phone call from customer service (in Australia) who agreed that the pouring angle was not normal and the problem would be passed on to their technical people. I never heard from LG again.
From October to November I emailed LG a further three times, but still they remain silent. I hoped that a simple exchange of a plastic part that would remedy the problem, it's a no-brainer....but LG just don't care.
I am very angry and upset with LG customer service. Can anyone suggest what I can do to get LG's attention?

Disappointed is an understatement – To be disappointed is an understatement. This is our third LG in 15 years and we are shocked that the quality of the build has fallen so far. The first fridge we still have and the second on we trade purely as we wanted the latest model. The quality is appalling on this fridge. Not even 1 year old and 2 shelves have broken and believe me this is… Read more
not due to excessive force or mistreatment and even the seal is breaking.
LG you need to lift you game. We’ve got a LG tv and washing machine but if this is a glasses of things to come we would not recommend and be buying anymore of your products.

crisper freezing – veggies in L/HAND crisper freezing sometime in R/HAND crisper had the LG repair person come out and pulled the rear panel out ( from inside fridge compartment ) put some tape and cutout sponge (I have read that this fixed the problem for other people ) unfortunately the crisper is reading 1 to 1/2 degrees with my temperature gauge the same before… Read more

So disappointed in LG - promotional cashback not honoured!!! – I purchased this fridge during a promotional period where I was to receive a $450 cashback - the fridge was for a new build and thanks to terrible builders our move in date was delayed, and we could not collect the fridge from the Harvey Norman warehouse until the house was completed. I called and emailed the LG Promotions team to advise them of… Read more
this predicament (during the promotional claim period!) and was assured that once the fridge was collected (and the serial number obtained) I could email them and the cashback would be honoured. I did just this and was told as my claim was not submitted during the required period that I would not be entitled to the cashback!
I paid for the appliance during the promotional period, I attempted to make a claim during the promotional period but without the serial number the claim was suspended, and now that I have finally been able to collect the fridge and provide the serial number LG Promotions have said the claim is now void.
We were tossing up between the Samsung and the LG and the deciding factor was the cashback....I regret my decision and have been floored by the LG Promotions team not honouring the claim. Particularly uncompassionate too given the whole global pandemic thing, when financially that cashback would have greatly helped our family of 5 fill that darn fridge with some groceries.
For a company that I respected, I must say how bitterly disappointed and surprised I am by their attitude towards this. I won't be buying any LG products in future.
Functional and stylish – While the door-in-door design may seem unnecessary, we find it fantastic as it allows easy access to those most used items such as milk, margarine and spreads without having to access the whole fridge and therefore allowing cold air to escape. It’s a great energy efficient design. The fridge and freezer area are roomy. My only negative is that… Read more · 1
the freezer drawers are not very wide so if you freeze large containers, it can be tricky. We love the cold water and ice dispenser.
Great fridge – This fridge is perfect for our family of 4. It maintains temperature well, has ice (cubes or crushed) at the ready as well as cold water. It’s a great size for all those foods that the kids need at the ready. The seperate door for quick access to drinks makes this fridge a stand out. Show details · 1
good fridge but finger prints and small ring scratches driving me crazy – We bought this fridge as it was the biggest fridge we could get in the gap we have. The fridge functions well and the freeze size is very good. My frustration with this fridge however is that it was sold to us as finger print free. Its definitely not! Our fridge constantly looks messy with fingerprint marks all over it. There are recessed handles… Read more
(as opposed to the common stainless steel pole handles) at the bottom of the fridge doors and on the tops of the freezer doors - but do you think I can get my teenage kids to use them!? What's more we have small scratches on the fridge door surfaces from people closing the doors with rings on there hands.
If you don't mind looking at a grubby fridge then go for it... if however you want a great looking $4k-ish fridge (which it is without finger prints) this is NOT the fridge for you.
