Died within 14 months

published

Bought as a factory seconds appliance in May 21, with minor scratches on the door and a 12 month retailer warranty. Worked well till July 22 when the heating became intermittent and finally died. With good reviews for the LG brand, I did not expect it to die so quickly. LG would not honour the normal 24 month warranty because it was bought as a factory second, and the cost to repair it is more than the cost of the appliance. It is going straight into the landfill where it belongs.

Warning do NOT buy this microwave it catches on FIRE!

published

I had one of their microwaves for 6 months and it started catching on fire, so I returned the product and they sent me a replacement, 8 months later the same component starts to catch on fire. Their microwaves needs to be recalled, it's extremely unsafe, same microwave both catching on fire is no coincidence.

Just under 3 years and the display panel has gone faulty!

published

Good little microwave. Worked well, easy to clean and looks nice. Still working only until recently the display has lost a pixel so i can only see half a number ont he display. Never abused and cleaned regularly. I've owned a few other microwaves in the past none have ever had this problem and never broke down. Contacted LG and their customer service was very difficult to hear - probably from India. Took nearly an hour just to provide a local service centre. To just assess the microwave will cost half it original purchase price, and that's not even fixing it. . Well it looks like this is the last LG microwave I'm going to buy. You have been warned!

Great! but…

published

Had this microwave for 2 years with no issues after this replaced our previous LG microwave of 10 years. Until recently, we haven’t had any issues; the display isn’t working properly as some of the lines are missing from the numbers & letters, which makes it very frustrating when 9 looks like 5 & 8 looks like 6. Other than that it works fine.

Neat, stylish and useful

published

We've been very happy with this microwave, had it for 8 months. Compact but large enough for what we need. Love the fact it's an inverter, it's so much better than my old one, both in speed and thoroughness of warming. Wonderful for defrosting, even softening ice cream and butter works well, it has dedicated functions for these and more (great job with frozen meat). Cooks potatoes really well. Smart mirror-like black finish. The 'ready' tone is pleasant but shouldn't nag quite as much as it does! Good build quality LG!

Worked a treat for 2.5 yrs and this morning while reheating smelt something burning. It appears the LED PCB board has caught alight.
Hoping LG will honour my product under warranty.

Waste of money.

Do not buy this microwave. After 12 months the magnatron became defective and would spark after 5 seconds of the microwave being on. LG sent us to a repair place to have this fixed. 6months later same issue arose. Store Credit was meant to be processed by LG however waited over a month and have been told LG has 48 business days to finalise this. Purchased the microwave 19 months ago have been without for over 3 months in that time.

So bad after 4 years. After 7 minutes, still cold. Never has been even, consistent heat.

So bad after 4 years. After 7 minutes, still cold. Never has been even, consistent heat.
Compared to a Panasonic 32 litre, which takes only 1:10 to reheat most things from the fridge, this literally will take 8 minutes to get to that level.

10 year warranty policy is a scam

published

Purchased on 6th September 2019 from the Good Guys, and heating doesn’t work. Just 1 month over 2 years! Called the helpline and they initially said a technician would come out, backtracked and asked me to drop the Microwave to a third party repairer very far away in Eastern Creek, and during office hours!

Very poor product and service, and the 10 year warranty is such a lie - it needs to be investigated by the consumer protection as there is just no support. Overpromise and under deliver is what makes the CEOs “Lifes Good” to the hip pocket.

Also caught on fire

published

Exactly what Kate said. The inside right panel also caught on fire , could've burned down the house . The microwave only lasted 14 months but lucky it has 2 years warranty . Customer service sent me to a repair shop and the guy there told me someone from LG will call me to give me store credit . Few days have gone past and no one has called me .

Purchased in at The Good Guys Online store for $249.

Hi, does the clock keep accurate time? Or does it start getting slower/faster over the months?

clock usually depends on grid frequency to keep time on these microwave units. I think aus has pretty good frequency management as far as I am aware.

I bought my MS2596 26/12/2017 had few issues other than working out how to use different features. Have rarely used it to cook anything for more than 15 minutes on high mostly reheat. Noticed about 12 months ago that food would not heat as much on second heat application like a 5 minute application then the 2nd 5min heat application was noticeably lower in temp. Last night my 6 minute frozen meal was still very cold in centre after the cooking cycle what could be the problem because this machine has had little use. Thanks...John K
